It was amazing! Arianna was really sweet and helpful.

Þingvellir National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwest Iceland, famed for its striking landscapes and historical significance. Nestled between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, the park boasts dramatic lava fields, Þingvallavatn lake, and the historic Alþingi, Iceland’s first parliament, established in 930 AD. A highlight of the park is Silfra, a glacial fissure with crystal-clear waters offering unparalleled visibility, where visitors can snorkel or dive between two continents. Þingvellir’s unique blend of natural beauty, history, and adventure makes it a must-visit destination in Iceland.
During this scuba diving adventure, you’ll explore all four sections of Silfra. The journey begins with the Silfra Deep Crack, a narrow and winding passage near the entrance. As the dive continues, the crack opens slightly into the Silfra Hall, which leads to the Silfra Cathedral—the deepest point of the dive at 22 meters (72 feet) below the surface. After the Cathedral, we head into the stunning Silfra Lagoon, the final section of the dive. At the exit platform, your guide will assist you in removing your fins, followed by a short 300-meter (984-foot) walk back to the car park. If needed, we can remove your weights or gear to make the walk easier, and there’s an option to rest at the visitor entrance along the way.

One to mark off the bucket list!! Israel was our dive guide and he was the best! He was so patient with us and made sure we understood everything about safety with diving in these conditions / what to expect, but also that we were having fun the entire time. He took care of us from start to end and is a very experienced diver. Definitely worth every penny and I highly recommend Isreal!!
Great experience for a group of friends. Highly recommend and would do again. Isra was so good!
Alex was a great guide and the snorkeling to see the fissure is a memory that you need to have!
Marta and Israel were both AMAZING! Highly recommend.
The tour overall was awesome! I wish they warned me more on their website about the flies. I’d bring a hat with a net to protect your face and neck. You’ll be glad you did.
Amazing experience, great job, Nico was the best guide ever!! Had lots of fun. Incredible view, defiantly worth it!!!!
Amazing experience! The fissure was so beautiful and unexpectedly deep. Our guides, Hernan and Isra, were excellent and made it even more fun! They were very attentive. Water is super cold but you get used to it quickly. Pick up was seamless and our bus driver gave us some hiking recs. Photos were free. You can leave your stuff in a dry bag at the base. Mini marshmallows in the coco was a plus. Nice geese nearby.
Laura was amazing with our family throughout the swim, thank uou
Aleks was an absolute gem. Thank you for the wonderful tour.
Have far more experience diving than the minimum. I am a very new diver. I dry suit certified just to do this dive. I disclosed all that when I signed up and they said I would be just fine. I understand they have time constraints, but I felt very rushed. Did not feel like I was allowed to inspect equipment and get comfortable with it. When I explained, I needed ankle weights, to help my legs stay under with a dry suit,I was told I wouldn't need them. The other diver with me was also very inexperienced, and I felt that the person leading the dive did not account for that and was growing frustrated with our lack of experience. I was able to get under just fine the first time. I had to surface due to other diver needing help getting down. When it was time for me to go down again, I struggled. I just couldn't get calm enough after seeing what I was seeing to go under and I did not feel comfortable. I ended the dive for me without completing it. I would recommend more time in a dry suit and more experience needed than what os posted. Also a snorkel was not provided. Having one is diver safety 101.
We had a great guide. Helpful, patient and kind
Jenny was absolutely amazing. She gave clear instructions and we even had a snorkeler that was having a difficult time. She helped her overcome and was able to finish! One thing is bring your tip cash with you since guide recommended not bringing wallet.
Snorkeling in Silfra was once in a life adventure! Iliana, our guide was really polite, helpful and professional. I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone!!!!
It was a unique experience, and surprisingly not cold! The dry suits worked well, good idea to wear your own thermal layer under their thermal suit and dry suits. Great to get the photos after!
Great experience in crystal clear waters and Valentina really looked after us
Absolutely terrible experience! I just asked the guide if I could join even though I’m not good at swimming, and he refused me right away. The rules clearly stated that as long as you can swim, you’re allowed to participate. I traveled there for hours by car, wasted a whole day, and spent hundreds of dollars for nothing. Extremely disappointing experience!!
Life lies in exploration. This snorkeling experience made me understand this truth. The experience underwater was unforgettable, and the time spent with friends was even more so. Especially my diving instructor Fede, she was very interesting and extremely patient. I'm very grateful that she joined us on this journey. If there's a chance, I would definitely take part in such an adventure again.
Had an absolutely amazing time at Silfra, especially because our guide Federika was so lovely. Recommend as definitely one of the best experiences in Iceland.
Great guide (Valentina from Mexico) and one of the most amazing experiences ever!
Nico was a great guide, he was very knowledgeable and helpful. What a beautiful experience and not too cold. Highly recommend asking for Nico
Dominika was our leader. She was very professional and extremely helpful in ensuring we felt comfortable. She explained how to keep warm under the circumstances! Assisted with getting our suits on and was thorough in explanations once in the water! We had an amazing experience and highly recommend. The rest of the staff there was also cheerful and helpful. Once in a lifetime experience with highly trained and willing professionals. Loved it!
The Snorkeling tour was amazing! Marcin, our instructor, was so friendly and professional. He made me feel safe and confident the whole time, and the scenery was absolutely stunning. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Iceland!
Franklin our driver/tour guide was phenomenal, so friendly and gave us all the info we needed. Jampy, our dive guide was professional and friendly, giving you freedom to move through the water with the confidence of him being near by. Definitely the highlight of my trip
Amazing experience! Our tour guide Nico was awesome, funny, and welcoming and helped us through everything with ease. The entire experience was beyond belief. Highly recommend! Nico is amazing, thank you!!!!
I did The Tectonic Dive Day Tour From Reykjavík. It was so beautiful. Even with the rain and overcast day, the water in Silfra was stunningly blue. My dive guide, Guillumo, was amazing and took us through the right spots to get the views that divers come to see. There is a reason diving Silfra is a bucket list item for scuba divers. We didn't end up going to the second dive site as the visibility wasn't the best (compared to Silfra) so we just did Silfra twice which I didn't mind as the first time was the take everything in dive and the second was look at the details dive which I really enjoyed. The only thing I wish I had known before is that the diving tours do not do pictures so be sure to bring your own camera/GoPro to get the pictures you want!
My family and I scheduled to get dry suit certified and to dive Silfra’s Fissure and I was left distraught and in tears from Ioannis’s lack of guidance and subsequent bullying from the dry suit course. The dry suit certification is challenging by nature, but I think it would have been a lot more enjoyable and productive if the instructor had been more encouraging and actually cared to teach rather than just going through the notion of pushing students through a course snd clients through a dive. He didn’t explain any concepts and would just show us skills and what to do in case of failure and expect us to just get it immediately. I was having buoyancy issues and instead of trying to constructively help me to understand, he just kept asking why I kept putting air in my BCD as if I wanted to pop to the surface when I was just trying to stop sinking. Then on top of that he told me to stay behind in the lake to practice my buoyancy and that he would watch but just walked out of the lake and left me there. I found these teaching methods very unprofessional and negligent. Because it wasn’t properly explained how to use the dry suit, I was left with bruising on my arm and all over my chest. I will not be using this company for future diving excursions nor recommending the outfitter to friends and family.
At busy times there can be quite a delay - but once you’re in the water and diving, it is amazing. What an incredible experience! Wow! The water was cool, 3 degrees Celsius. The vis was unbelievable - as far as your eyes can see. My undergarments did their job well! This is a once in a lifetime experience. Our guide Maciek was very good and attentive. The staff were very helpful. The walk to the ramp with all the dive gear was a little tiring but not too hard. However the return walk with extra weight was unpleasant at best.
My mom and I went snorkeling with the guide John. The guide was impatient and pushy. At the start, he failed to demonstrate proper use of the equipment, especially the snorkel. We did not mind at the time, since we have been scuba diving in the past with no issues. However, once we started floating in the water, water started entering both of our snorkels. My mom complained to the guide that she was unable to breathe through her snorkel, and he immediately pushed her out of the water without checking the equipment or attempting to clarify the problem, ending her experience after being in the water for less than a minute. I was still attempting to adjust my snorkel to resolve the situation when the guide moved on. I tried to follow, but every time I put the snorkel on, water would start trickling in after a few seconds. I tried to get the guide’s attention, but he just told me to swim over because I was in the way of the next group. When I was eventually able to catch up to him and explain the situation, he claimed that I must not be forming a proper seal around the mouthpiece, even though I felt that I was, and he did not attempt to demonstrate what I was doing wrong but rather moved on without even checking the snorkel. When I said that I was still getting water in my snorkel, he said that there was nothing he could do since he “can’t breathe for” me. I was forced to tread water thereafter for the rest of the trip since I couldn’t use the snorkel, while the guide kept urging me to swim faster the entire time. Both my mom and I are in good health and have experience swimming. Overall, it was a terrible experience for the both of us.
Nico, was such a lovely host! He made the whole experience and I genuinely can’t recommend him enough! Overall the experience was 10/10
This is my second time around trying this with both being failures. I do get refunds for the event but when you come to the country specifically for this you lose holiday time and airfare etc. First time was an “operational error”. This time it was from another diver, who with my little experience, I say shouldn’t have been there in the first place. Well he put himself at risk and I won’t get into details. But with 1 guide following a crew and one member fails, we all fail. No back up to continue or address any concerns, especially if the person is in back. Not your typical dive by far where I know it’s “safety first”. Seems more like a rush job to get more clients at a risk. I’d do this totally private. Totally separate from the snorkelers.
Guillaume and Domenico are such kind and professional guides. Priceless experience, really efficient swimsuits and kind personnal
the terms were not clear and I did not go diving I flew several thousand miles to do this dive and was denied to go diving due to the terms of the dive not being clear.
Great experience, highly recommend. Jenny from Australia was our guide and she was extremely professional, friendly and helpful. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Francesca and Guillaume were fantastic dive instructors, and made the experience truly memorable. Thank you so much for your expert guidance and good humour.
he spot itself is a wonder of nature. DiveIS team was so professional and organized between pickups dispatching groups and the use of snorkeling material. You can feel that they love their job. HANNA was such a great guide taking her time to explain the circuit, and approaching each one of the group considering our swimming skills. Dziękuję Hanna and muchas gracias to others.
This was an amazing experience. Fredricka was an excellent guide and made the experience even better. Its not for the faint of heart, but you get over the cold pretty quick!
Amazing experience, wow I am definitely looking forward to doing this again soon. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience
isamar was such an amazing guide!11/10 recommend everyone to come here everyone was so helpful and friendly very lovely place
Great experience!! Don’t be afraid of cold weather the team will make you feel comfortable, Francesca was a great guide.
Francesca (one of the instructors) and Sigurdur (driver) were fantastic, otherwise terrible service!!! Beautiful scenery though!
Absolutely spectacular trip. The visibility is incredible and definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Yes yo get cold but not as cold in the water as getting changed afterwards. Staff v helpful but you must concentrate on instructions. You do need to be reasonably fit and agile as there are times you are swimming hard and getting all the gear on and off is hard work !!
Lili and Fede (Freddy) were awesome, however, I was originally booked for the scuba dive. It wasn’t till late afternoon the day before that I was notified via email that my dive was cancelled and too late to book with another operator,. This was the one and only tour I wanted to do here in Iceland and as my flight was two days later, I couldn’t re-book (flying after diving). There were a number of reasons for your poor rating and believe me if it wasn’t for Lili and Fede (Freddy), it would be much worse. There seemed to be some confusion from everything from dive underwear to the reason why the dive was cancelled in the first place? Anytime I enquired I was given the BS default answer of “ operational requirements “ or something of that nature. There was no suggestion of booking with another company or any attempt to do this for me. I spent 9000 kr on used underwear only to find that drysuit underwear was provided despite my prior inquiries. When I contacted the office to find out my options, there was no suggestion of doing the snorkel tour instead, I had to ask for it and luckily, there was one position remaining. The last straw for me was the agent on the phone has left it up to me to seek out my reimbursement online with a different company as I booked through Tripadvisor. Not sure when I’m going to see that refund, however, if it’s anything like the treatment I’ve received so far, I’m going to have to pursue that myself. Overall, wish I had originally booked with the competition, Dive.is. Much more professional. 😏
I was in a group with 3 others. We were led by Francesca who was absolutely amazing (thank you so much Francesca :)). The experience itself was so fun and everyone i met was so friendly. The pick up was very easy (there are multiple mini busses, so if you’re not on the list for one don’t worry). Hope this helps any future snorkel fanatics. Also wear thick socks to keep those tiny toes warm and bring a spare t shirt just in case :).
To do the review in sections and with a caveat that I am in the category often described as ‘senior citizen’ and by far the oldest of our group of six: 1. Pickup arrangements from the cruise ship were a bit muddy. There have been some recent port changes so it’s worth getting very specific information beforehand if you’re arriving by boat. 2. The transport with Franklin as driver was a hoot. His driving was fine but the commentary was even better, a bit off the wall and informative at the same time. Top marks. 3. The location at Silfra was very busy with snorkelling and scuba groups meaning that the wait times too get in the water weren’t ideal but hey, it is what it is. And I was a tourist so a part of the problem so shouldn’t complain. 4. The supplied equipment seemed fine. I’m used to wet suits but dry suits are a very different kettle of fish and I thought that if anyone was claustrophobic the whole experience might have been not the best idea. 5. Magd, our guide was personable, efficient and appeared to be a very capable border collie presence for our group. Top marks again. Overall it was a very satisfying experience. The drift itself is unlike anything I’ve been in before and well worth doing. The appearance of a fish was quite a serendipitous event. Overall? No regrets at all. And a great T shirt design if you’re in the ‘been there, done that and I’ve got the T shirt too’ category
This was amazing experience and totally worth it but be aware it’s not for everyone! We booked and loved it surprisingly it wasn’t as cold as I expected and the colours you see are unbelievable. However be aware, the dry suites are heavy cumbersome and the neck is tight. An older couple travelling with their family pulled out because it was too confronting for them and later I found out some younger people pulled out too. Having said all that we loved it!
Had an unbelievable time on the snorkeling tour. Justin was a great and funny driver who made the drive there enjoyable with fun facts. Dominika was knowledgeable, kind, and made everyone feel safe. The tour was outstanding. Even though the wetsuit experience and acclimating to the water was intense, Dominika got rid of any anxiety so I could enjoy the stunning views of the fissure.
Amazing experience! I went with my mother, all equipment was provided and in perfect condition - I was still dry at the end of the dive. Visibility was brilliant and the fissure is very beautiful. A special thank you to our instructor Veronica - she was brilliant. Very positive, knowledgeable, and upbeat. (I hope your new dry suit comes soon). All in all, great experience, would recommend.
What a fantastic experience. Yes, it was very cold and windy but it is Iceland after all! Getting into the kit was easy except for the gloves. You had to put wet, quite tight gloves onto hands that were already so cold, they didn’t really work properly :D. Once we were kitted out, we walked a short way to steps down into the water but not before Weronika (our lovely, informative, super caring guide) took photos. Then into the water which was amazing. The dry suits were very buoyant so we all just bobbed nicely along. Weronika took some more under water pics before we set off. The clarity of the water was unbelievable. Crystal clear. It was truly awesome.
Incredible experience snorkelling through the crystal clear glacier water, the visibility was unlike anything I've ever seen. The water is far too cold to swim in normally so you get all the kit and advice to stay warm, including fleecy undersuit with a dry suit on top, only your face exposed to the elements but very easy to stay warm. Our guide Fede was super friendly and helpful, and told us the history of the fissures we were swimming in. An amazing experience and a must-do if you're visiting Iceland.
