My wife and I came on the 6 day ring road tour for our Honeymoon and it was absolutely incredible. Our guide, Rocky, was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, had great jokes, and a killer playlist with a song for every occasion. He also should be commended for his effort to ensure we got to see the Northern Lights! I'm not sure what rituals or dances he must have done to appease the old gods, but we had two nights of incredible activity and clear skies and it was everything we came for. My wife and I also thoroughly enjoyed his company and he made excellent recommendations for everything along the way. Troll as a company was easy to work with, very responsive to questions, and very good about communicating. The hotels they selected for us were comfortable accommodations with decent breakfasts and helped make things smooth as we went. The company also was very good about communication when there was a last minute change in our planned itinerary due to inclement weather. They set us up in a hotel, rearranged the activities and we were still able to do and see everything we wanted to do without issue. We thoroughly enjoyed our time circling Iceland and getting to experience just a taste of the country. We will most certainly be recommending this tour to some of our friends who are hoping to visit Iceland soon!

Itinerary
Day 1
1
Visit Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most famous natural landmarks. Located on the Golden Circle route, it features a two-tiered drop into a deep canyon carved by the Hvítá River. The waterfall is easily accessible and offers several viewing platforms for different perspectives.
Visit the Geysir Geothermal Area, home to bubbling hot springs, steam vents, and erupting geysers. While the original Geysir is mostly inactive, its neighbor Strokkur erupts every few minutes, shooting boiling water up to 25 meters in the air. The area offers walking paths and viewpoints for safely observing this geothermal activity.
Visit Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. This historic site is also home to Iceland’s first parliament, established in 930 CE. The park features dramatic landscapes, walking trails, and clear glacial springs, making it both a geological and cultural highlight of the Golden Circle.
Day 2
2
Visit Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s most unique waterfalls, known for the path that allows you to walk behind the cascading water. The waterfall drops 60 meters from a cliff, offering a rare view from both the front and behind. Be prepared for mist and bring a rain jacket for the short but memorable walk.
Visit Skógafoss, a powerful 60-meter-high waterfall located along Iceland’s South Coast. You can view it from the base or climb 527 steps to a viewing platform above for panoramic views. On sunny days, the mist often creates vibrant rainbows at the foot of the falls.
Visit Reynisfjara, Iceland’s famous black sand beach known for its striking basalt columns, towering sea stacks, and powerful Atlantic waves. This unique coastal landscape is both beautiful and dramatic, but caution is advised as the waves can be unpredictable. Stay within marked areas and follow your guide’s safety instructions.
Experience an unforgettable glacier hike on Sólheimajökull, one of South Iceland’s most impressive ice formations. This adventure takes you across a dramatic landscape of glacial ice streaked with volcanic ash, offering a truly otherworldly experience. It’s the perfect activity for those looking to combine breathtaking scenery with active exploration.
Day 3
3
Visit Fellsfjara, also known as Diamond Beach, where icebergs from Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon wash ashore and glisten like diamonds on the black sand. This striking contrast creates a truly unique and photogenic landscape. Take time to walk along the shore and admire the ever-changing ice formations shaped by the sea.
Visit Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, a stunning lake filled with floating icebergs calved from the nearby Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier. Watch as the ice drifts slowly toward the Atlantic Ocean, creating a serene and ever-changing landscape. The lagoon is a prime spot for photography and often attracts seals swimming among the ice.
Explore the otherworldly beauty of a natural blue ice cave on this tour. Ride a SuperTruck to reach remote glacier outlets of Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier, and discover stunning ice formations, from vast caves to intricate ice tunnels—shaped by Iceland’s dynamic landscape.
Day 4
4
Visit Lagarfljót Lake, a serene and scenic body of water in East Iceland known for its tranquil beauty and surrounding forests. The lake is steeped in local folklore, including tales of a mysterious serpent said to inhabit its depths. Enjoy peaceful walks along the shore and take in the stunning views of the nearby mountains.
On your fourth day, explore Iceland’s East Fjords, known for their dramatic mountain ridges and the towering Vatnajökull glacier to the west. This region is one of the few places in Iceland where you might spot wild reindeer. Along the way, you’ll pass peaceful fishing villages that reflect Iceland’s rich maritime heritage.
Optional activity (at own expense): Enjoy horseback riding in the East Fjords, where you can visit a local horse farm and meet Iceland’s beloved and unique horses.
Day 5
5
If you want to fully relax and experience Iceland’s geothermal nature up close, you can add entrance to the VÖK Nature Baths in Egilsstaðir. This optional activity is available at an additional cost and offers soothing natural hot pools to unwind in.
Visit the Námaskarð Geothermal Area, a vibrant landscape filled with steaming fumaroles, bubbling mud pots, and colorful mineral deposits. This geothermal hotspot showcases Iceland’s volcanic activity up close, with sulfur vents and boiling springs creating a unique and otherworldly environment to explore.
Visit the Dimmuborgir Lava Formations, a dramatic landscape steeped in Icelandic folklore and said to be home to mythical creatures like trolls, elves, and the Icelandic Yule Lads.
Visit Lake Mývatn, a stunning volcanic lake known for its rich birdlife, unique lava formations, and geothermal activity. Explore the surrounding landscapes, including bubbling mud pools, volcanic craters, and vibrant hot springs, making it one of Iceland’s most diverse natural areas.
Visit Goðafoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most popular natural attractions. Its powerful cascade and scenic surroundings make it a must-see destination in the North.
Day 6
6
Visit the charming town of Hauganes, a popular starting point for whale watching tours. From here, you’ll have the opportunity to spot various whale species while enjoying the stunning coastal scenery.
Drive through the scenic landscapes of North Iceland as you make your way back to Reykjavik. Enjoy views of mountains, lakes, and charming towns along the route.

I recently completed the 6-day tour with Troll Expeditions, and it was a fantastic experience! The itinerary was extremely well-paced, hitting all the key sights around Iceland without feeling rushed. The glacier hike and ice cave tour were absolute standouts and made the journey truly special. A huge shoutout to our guide, Iskren! He was very friendly, deeply knowledgeable, and highly organized, ensuring we had plenty of time at each location. He also kept us updated on weather conditions and Northern Lights likelihood throughout the trip. Thanks to his tips, we were lucky enough to catch a breathtaking display of the aurora on our last night, which was an incredible highlight! I highly recommend Troll Expeditions, and if you get Iskren as your guide, you’re in for an unforgettable experience.
We had such an amazing 6 days exploring Iceland with Tröll Expeditions! Iceland itself was absolutely breathtaking, but what made the trip extra special was our wonderful guide, Iskren! He was fantastic! So knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and genuinely passionate about what he does. He shared so many interesting stories about Iceland and really went out of his way to look after everyone. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him, and we felt so well taken care of throughout the trip. We had so much fun, saw some incredible places and made wonderful memories along the way. A big thank you to Iskren and Tröll Expeditions for such an unforgettable experience! We couldn't have asked for a better guide. We'll definitely be recommending you to all our friends back in Australia! 🇦🇺❤️
Our guide JonH gave us an unforgettable experierence touring around Iceland. From insightful history and local landmarks to tips on restaurants and frequent supermarket stops. Good sesnse of humour and related well too all on our group. Recommend to anyone to add to their bucketlist. Iceland was awesome. Markus and Belinda (Auatralia)
100% worth it! Would book it again. Our guide is Jon, he’s as local as you can get, a lot of knowledge on history and local attractions, and with great sense of humor. Jon made the trip incredibly enjoyable. Jon is also very accommodating and helpful. We’re happy with Tröll! Would highly recommend them.
I am very happy with the tour. Everything was very well organized, the transportation was comfortable, and the schedule was perfectly planned to enjoy the incredible beauty of Iceland. I am also very happy that Rocky was our guide. His energy is amazing, as is the way he shares stories about Iceland, manages the timing throughout the tour, and, of course, his music playlist is fantastic. He truly connects with people and makes it clear that, for him, this is not just a job. He genuinely loves what he does and has a deep passion for his country.
行程時間安排的很好,導遊幽默風趣,還會講解冰島文化故事,下次還要再參加,冰島太美了 Rocky is no.1 tour guide. I’m gonna come back to this beautiful country again 😍😍
I’m so grateful we booked with Tröll.is. Rocky was our tour guide and he made sure we saw so much of Iceland and while teaching along the way. He was dedicated to helping us see the lights every time there was a possibility! We would definitely book again!
Rocky put the fun into our tour organising and driving. It's a great island nation to visit. Good humour and songs to match the occasion. Rocky also taught us Góðan daginn as our greeting
Rocky was incredible! We were a little nervous on the front end, with. Relatively limited amount of info to prep with from Troll- I like tabbed and color coated binders. Luckily, it really all was taken care of and we had very little to do but enjoy. The days were very active and every night, Rocky would watch for the aurora and let us know of it was visible. All in all, excellent.
This Iceland tour was absolutely worth every penny and gave me an amazing holiday. I witnessed spectacular scenery and even caught sight of the Northern Lights! I also met a wonderful group of travel companions, and our incredible guide, Thor, was the best of the best. Thor is humorous and knowledgeable. He shared so much about Iceland’s geography, traditions and local customs throughout our trip. The tour included many fantastic activities, such as glacier hiking, blue ice cave exploration and whale watching. I was really satisfied with every hotel we stayed at. My only regret is that I didn’t book the longer 8-day itinerary. I would highly recommend Troll’s Ring Road tour to anyone planning a trip to Iceland. It is an experience you simply cannot miss! Thor is the absolute best!
I just got back from the 6-day Iceland Ring Road tour, and already missed those days on the road badly! The itinerary was well-planned. Everyday had its own unique highlight, and we managed to experience all we had hoped for without feeling rushed. For the price, the value is absolutely unbeatable. But the real star of this trip was our guide, Thor. He is simply outstanding! Thor was so responsible and professional, keeping our route and schedule well-organized. Beyond the standard stops, he shared his private, off-the-beaten-path spots and local experiences with us, which made the trip much more special. He’s also really witty. Love all his banters. And he genuinely cared about the group. Thanks to Thor’s warmth and dedication, our entire group had an absolute blast from start to finish. Highly recommend this tour to anyone. Hope you could meet Thor! 🇮🇸✨
Iceland’s scenery is “other-worldly” in its beauty and variety. I highly recommend participating in the optional tour experiences because they added a lot to the enjoyment of our trip. Our Tröll guide Johann was exceptional! Born and raised in Iceland - he did a great job explaining the geology, history and culture of his country. His English was excellent and he was always happy to answer our questions about what we were seeing and experiencing. I highly recommend him and the 6 day Ring Road Tour.
What a great decision to book with Troll and we were very lucky to have Johann as our guide! The trip was so we'll organized, interesting, and filled with all the highlights of the ring road. I know there are choices about a group trip, or going it on your own, but I am so thankful we did this! It was a small group, all were fun and respectful and easy to travel with! Johann did a fantastic job of offering choices while encouraging us to see the sights in the best way. It was rainy and cold at times, but the fun was never dampened. Don't hesitate, book the 6 day and give yourself the gift of seeing Iceland with a pro!
Due to the limited holiday time and the inconvenience of self-driving, I chose to join Troll’s 6-day Ring Road tour around Iceland from September 18 to September 23. It turned out to be an excellent decision. Although six days were not enough to see all the beautiful scenery Iceland , Troll’s itinerary was well planned and allowed us to visit the major famous attractions in Iceland within a limited time. We also took part in many activities, such as glacier hiking, whale watching, and optional horseback riding and Vok Bath. The hotels we stayed at were also good, and both the itinerary and accommodations were consistent with the information provided at the time of booking. Personally, I was very satisfied with Troll’s professionalism and transparency. Most importantly, our guide, Haffi, was highly professional, enthusiastic, helpful, and humorous. He enabled our whole group to enjoy Iceland’s stunning scenery in the most pleasant atmosphere. He truly deserves a five-star rating! Finally, I would highly recommend Troll for tourists looking for group travel.
We had a fantastic experience on this six-day tour and would highly recommend it. Our guide, Sindri, was exceptional. He had a warm, fun personality, was extremely knowledgeable, and kept the entire trip relaxed and stress-free. He was also genuinely enjoyable to chat with and brought such a positive energy to the experience. The minibus was new, clean, and comfortable. There were 17 people in our group, but everyone had enough room for the drives. The bus had reliable Wi-Fi, charging ports at every seat, and plenty of luggage space. We generally spent around 2.5–4 hours driving each day, broken up by numerous stops. The pace was very well balanced, allowing us to see and experience a great deal without ever feeling rushed. The included ice cave, glacier hike, and whale-watching excursion were all unique and fantastic experiences. The glacier-lagoon boat tour was an optional add-on, but once everyone saw the beautiful bay filled with icebergs, nearly the entire group decided to do it, and it was absolutely worthwhile. The hotels were good overall, although the quality varied somewhat from night to night. A few felt closer to a 3.5–4 out of 5, while others were easily 4.5 or better, but we were always comfortable. Breakfasts also varied, but there was consistently plenty of good food. Most offered a standard European-style breakfast with meats, cheeses, yogurt, bread, coffee, and juice, while a few also had waffles or eggs. I traveled with my 72-year-old father, who uses a cane, and he greatly enjoyed the trip. He was able to participate in most activities, although he skipped the more strenuous glacier hike. At a few stops, he was happy to enjoy the scenery from near the road rather than walk farther along the dirt paths. Overall, this was an outstanding way to see and learn about Iceland. We experienced an incredible amount in six days without feeling rushed, and Sindri played a huge role in making the trip so memorable. We would enthusiastically recommend both the tour and Sindri.
This was my first experience traveling with a group, and it was a great one! Got to see many of the sights in Iceland in only 6 days. I thought it might feel rushed, but we got to spend up to an hour in most locations and it felt fine. It was a great way to scout out Iceland, and I will likely go back to spend more time. John, our guide, was awesome. Always positive and had a good sense of humor.
My family and I had an amazing experience in Iceland. Our guide cum driver John is super efficient and talented, with a passion for sharing with us Iceland through his (geographer) eyes, while driving us tirelessly and keeping the group engaged day after day. Thank you for such wonderful memories!
We went on 6d summer Iceland tour with Troll. Our driver n guide John is the best guide ever! Very efficient, capable, knowledgeable, and fun. The highlight of the trip is the glacier hike and ice cave, and everything that we see are so amazing and out of this world! A truly memorable trip for me and my sisters and my daughter!!
This trip was worth the price we paid.
Helmar is a professional guide. I liked very much the tour with small bus. Programme is well done with a variety of activities. hotel on the way of good qualoty. I strongly recommend troll.is for trips and actibities
Thales is probably the best tour guide i have had in a while, he made the road trips very interesting and is funny as well 6/5 stars
What an absolutely incredible and flawless journey, especially with our skillful, informative, and hilarious Viking driver - Siggi! My family and I took a 6-day Golden Ring tour in Iceland, starting on July 20, '26. The trip was simply stunning! Like most tours, we got to see beautiful waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, and black sand beaches. We also enjoyed some amazing activities like horse riding, exploring ice caves, glacier hiking, boating in the glacier lagoon, and relaxing in hot/cool spas. All these adventures were thrilling and unforgettable!!! But I really have to give a shoutout to our driver and guide, the Viking Siggi! Siggi's driving is smooth and quick. He shares tons of undocumented stories along the scenic routes, which makes the journey even more enjoyable. He's also a fantastic planner. No matter the site, Siggi always arrives a bit earlier than the crowds, giving us clear and precise paths to follow, so we can make the most of our time at each sightseeing spot. On the flip side, once we got off the bus, Siggi turned into a hilarious goofball, showing us how to strike silly poses and dance, resulting in some truly funny photos and videos. He even joined us for walks through some scenic areas and bsthing together in water pools, where we all enjoyed great views and friendly chats. In short, if you're looking to explore Iceland, you won't regret choosing Troll Tours. And if you can, definitely request Siggi, the Viking, as your guide!
So we just finished a six day tour of Iceland with troll.is and I must say it was an amazing experience. We had the most excellent guide John who through his love för Iceland (as a local not a native 😉) gave us the best Iceland has to offer and with a very personal commitment both to us guests but also to Iceland. I can not recommend this tour enough if you want to se Iceland and all of its beauty and give yourself the time to see it. You just lean back, relax and let the tour do the rest 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻.
Haffi was incredible. You get an insider scoop on little stops you would never discover on your own. He is efficient, kind helpful and the tour was incredible! Trolls is special, Mika and David also incredible!
Iceland has stunning scenery, and our tour guide was absolutely fantastic! Knowledgeable with lively commentary, he knows local weather and routes well, adjusted schedules smartly to skip crowds, took great photos for us, gave wonderful food recommendations and offered thoughtful service with no hard sells. Our trip was relaxing and worry-free. Highly recommended!thanks so much for our guide Amy!!!
We had a great experience with our guide Godwin. He was very informative and knowledgeable. We got to see a lot of great places and God wouldn’t manage to time all of our arrivals just before the bigger buses arrived. I was injured midway through the tour, and Godwin went out of his way to make sure that I still enjoyed every part of the rest of the tour.
This tour was truly one of the best I’ve ever been on. John, our guide, made the entire experience unforgettable. He is incredibly knowledgeable, wonderfully friendly, and genuinely passionate about sharing Iceland’s history, landscapes, and hidden treasures. We have truly explored Iceland through his eyes :) I felt so well taken care of throughout the 6 days adventure, and I’m deeply grateful for everything he shared with us! Thank you John!
Overall, my description of this tour is “good” for the price. We logged over 900 miles on this Ring Road tour. We saw a lot and got a good feel for the country. It was a lot of riding in the bus. I don’t think I realized it would be that many miles over 6 days. So prepare yourself. Bring snacks and things to do. I would have liked a more robust commentary during the tour from our guide. I felt like he was more of a driver who told us where we were stopping and how many minutes we had at each stop. With the exception of one place, he did not walk with us to answer questions or give more directions. He was nice, friendly and knowledgeable but there were so many missed opportunities to elevate the tour experience. It would have been nice to have an overall summary at the start of each day letting us know the timing of meals and options for meals. Breakfast had similar items each day, typical European breakfast. Lunch options were minimal on some days, i.e. gas station or grocery store. If you have food restrictions like gluten-free or vegetarian, it may be challenging to find food. I like healthy options and that wasn’t always possible. The food options were a disappointment on this tour. In all fairness, we were in some remote areas, so there may just be very limited options. Hotel accommodations were basic, 2 or 3 single beds in each room. 3 stars at best for the hotels but were clean. Bring a sleep mask and ear plugs for some locations if traveling in the summer. The excursions that we did were great. Fantastic guides who were enthusiastic and provided unique experiences.
We chose the six-day tour. The customer service was great leading up to the trip as I had many questions. The tour was very well organized and the vehicle was superior to those of many of the other companies we saw along the way. The tour guide Alex, shared his knowledge of the various sites and made extra stops which added to our enjoyment of the trip. The landscape of the south and east coast was particularity exciting. Edger, the guide for the ice caves, gave me the support and encouragement I needed to complete the activity. The incredible landscape was explained during the jeep ride to the site. I knew the glacier hike would be too much for me when I booked the trip. I was able to get to the viewing point which was spectacular.
Amazing tour! Iceland is beautiful and Hafpor as our guide. He really was amazing and gracious! If you are lucky to get him as your guide, you wont be disappointed!
Our tour guide Sindri was the best! He was so knowledgeable about Iceland and the sights we stopped at. He was very kind, accommodating, and funny! He did a great job of giving us enough time at stops, pointing out fun facts during our drive, and keeping a fun, positive attitude throughout the whole trip. Overall, this was an amazing trip. All transportation, excursions, and accommodations were taken care of. Our tour group was a total of 9 people, which was the perfect size for traveling together. I highly recommend booking this tour!
Had a great 6-day ring tour with Sindri, “fire flower”. On one hand, he is very good at making the arrangements for every day and very careful for all of us, he can take us to very local sights and also local foods. And on the other, he is also very passionate and we are like just friends and having fun together. I’ll always remember this wonderful trip. Strongly recommend!
Our tour guide, Sindry, was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable about the country and made the experience so amazing. He is very accommodating, easy to talk to, adventurous, and funny. Everyone in the tour group loved him. Iceland itself was beautiful. Pictures do not do the attractions justice. I felt like six days was the perfect amount of time to explore the whole country. This tour was totally worth the money and I highly recommend this experience.
The whole trip was amazing. The guide Haffi was very engaging, helpful and provided tons of insights to the destinations as well as the Icelandic culture. He also arranged different ad hoc spots and offered dinner recommendations, so something extra to what were in the itinerary and was much appreciated. He helped look at the weather forecast and got outside to look for opportunity to see the Northern lights. I loved chitchatting with Haffi and he was always eating with us and answering our random questions.
Amazing experience with troll.is ring road Iceland tour. 10 out of 10. Our guide Glyes was really nice and professional, who helped us drive through bad weather, while also provided abundant information about the tourist spots. We encountered a yellow alert and had to cancel one day of the plan, but the customer service at troll.is was also helpful and provided prompt options and solutions to navigate the situation.
We had a fantastic journey. The choice of locations is great, and we fell in love with the nature of Iceland. The tour program is intense so my son and I never got bored. Shoutout to our amazing and caring guide Rocky! He made us smile even when we were tired and took care of every detail. Thanks for waking us up to see the northern lights! Tatiana
Great tour with the very funny, helpful, knowlegable guide Rocky! Highly recommanded! We enjoyed the glacier hike and horse riding very much.
Rocky is a good guide. Super nice and funny! My wife and I had a great and memorable 6 days trip in Iceland! Thank you very much!
5/5 stars for Rocky! He is knowledgeable, hilarious, and incredibly professional. He handled a snow storm with ease, adjusting our itinerary perfectly. Highly Recommend!!
The only way to visit Iceland in my opinion! John was our guide and absolutely incredible, knowledgeable and knowing when and how to avoid the bad weather and other tourists! We visited a horse farm, hiked glaciers, saw breathtaking waterfalls and iceberg lagoons, black sand beaches and the thermal baths to name just a few activities. We stayed in hotels with the most beautiful scenery and got insights from John about when and how to view the northern lights so late in the season! John was incredibly dedicated and worked tirelessly to give us the best experience, driving in difficult conditions and giving us extra stops on the way to ensure we saw Iceland through his eyes (not to mention the invaluable geography lessons!) I cannot recommend this trip enough and there is no way we could have made it as special without booking this tour (and making lovely friends in our group!)
I went on the 6 day mini-bus tour with family members & a friend with Troll. What an amazing experience! Our tour guide, John, was awesome! I learned so much about the geography of Iceland, its culture and history. John was very knowledgeable and went above & beyond with his extra stops. I would definitely recommend booking this tour with John.
This was our second time doing this amazing tour thanks to Hafpór our guide. He opened music requests and played them, he took us to snowball fight and he played with us. The experience was unforgettable enjoyable and fun. We had to request a guide change after the first day, the first one was rude. Troll managed this incredibly quick and validated our input no questions asked.
I joined this tour as a solo traveller and had a very good experience. Our guide and driver, Gylfi, was friendly, fun, and drove safely. The tour length was just right, with many stops but not too tiring. Most of the hotel rooms were comfortable. They could not give the full hotel list by email before the tour, but everything was arranged well. I really enjoyed this trip and would come back again.
We had a great time with Gylfi! Super fun and informative tour. Highly recommended!! Pinky:)
What a great vacation! Saw so many areas and things. John was a great guide and taught us many things about Iceland and geography.
I did the 6-day Winter Ring Road tour with Troll.is and it was honestly one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever taken, packed with incredible landscapes, smooth logistics, and some truly special moments. The highlight: our guide, John. He’s a trained geologist, which made the entire experience so much richer; every stop came with context, stories, and insight. On top of that, he’s an exceptional driver. The road conditions were challenging at times (snow, ice, wind), and I genuinely felt safe throughout. He’s also just a great presence - calm, steady, and brought good energy to the group. I’m still listening to Break Your Heart by Jay Fung 😄 - thank you for the great music, the witty jokes, and for making this trip so memorable. He was the main reason I chose a guided tour over self-driving, and it absolutely paid off. Itinerary highlights: The trip is very well-paced and covers an incredible range: • Golden Circle (Þingvellir, Strokkur, Gullfoss, Seljalandsfoss) • South Coast waterfalls + glacier hike on Sólheimajökull (crampons + ice axe provided) • Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Diamond Beach, and an ice cave tour • Whale watching in Hauganes Some real “firsts” for me, especially seeing a humpback whale up close in Hauganes and walking right up to floating icebergs at Jökulsárlón. Accommodation & food: Hotels were consistently cosy, clean, and comfortable. Breakfasts were a standout - generous spreads with Icelandic specialties like Arctic cod roe and pickled herring on rye bread. Optional activities: • VÖK Baths: Absolutely amazing. Peaceful, scenic, and (in my opinion) much better than the Blue Lagoon, which felt more like a tourist trap. • Horseback riding: This was the only disappointing part. It was essentially a slow 45-minute walk and not tailored to different skill levels. It would have been much better if they separated beginners and intermediate riders. I was hoping for at least some trotting or a proper ride. Overall: If you want to experience Iceland in winter without the stress of driving, this tour is an excellent choice. You cover a huge amount in a short time, and having a knowledgeable, capable guide makes all the difference. Would highly recommend - just skip or manage expectations for the horseback riding.
Tour was comfortable in a mini bus that was well heated and equipped with wifi and also charging ports. Tour guide John was entertaining and livened the atmosphere with his infectious energy. He also made extra stops and updated us regularly on Northern lights sighting. Trip itself was amazing and beautiful sights at every stop. Highly recommend!
I just finished the 6-day Ring Road tour with Tröll Expeditions, and I can’t recommend it enough! From start to finish, the trip was a perfect blend of bucket-list sights and hidden gems, all made better by our incredible guide, John. If you get John, you’re in for a treat. He isn’t just a guide; he’s a storyteller and a geography expert who genuinely loves showing Iceland through 'his eyes'. His deep knowledge of the landscapes, culture, and history turned every long drive into a fascinating lesson. He also has a great talent for group bonding—he brought our diverse group together and even managed to find some 'secret spots' and extra stops not on the official itinerary. The itinerary itself was action-packed but well-paced. One of the absolute highlights was the hike on Sólheimajökull. Tröll provided all the safety gear (crampons, axes), and the guides Jerko and Ethan were excellent at making us feel safe. In the North, we loved the Goðafoss waterfall and the whale watching tour from Hauganes. Seeing the massive icebergs at the Glacier Lagoon was my favorite experience :D The minibus was comfortable with Wi-Fi, and the hotels we stayed in were nice and cozy, always including a solid breakfast to fuel our days. Thank you, John, and the whole Troll team for making this a trip of a lifetime. If you want a 'worry-free' way to see the very best of Iceland, this is it!
I had the most incredible time on the 6 day Ring Road tour! Our tour guide, Thales, was amazing. The trip was thought out very well and well-timed. Every part of the island is stunning! It was a great balance of sight-seeing, activities and relaxing. Would recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience everything Iceland has to offer in just a few days!
