This was my first trip to Iceland and I really wanted to hit as many destinations as possible and this tour and Matej, our guide, did not disappoint! Friendly, accommodating and incredibly knowledgeable - he really added so much information to the tour. Small tour size was a bonus. This adventure got me out of my comfort zone and to some of the most remote and gorgeous places on Earth. Great value for the cost and the tour length was perfect. Highly recommend!
Excellent full-inclusive landmark tour! You get to see all amazing spots around Iceland during 6 days. The program is quite packed yet great in including everything! Our guide, Diddi, enriched our trip with many interesting details about history, culture, land, geo-politics and other stories regarding Iceland. He was so kind to inform us about Northern Lights too! All hotels we stayed were good with the best one being the Wilderness Center - incredible experience! If you look for a trip that is quite intense to not miss anything, that's for you!
Lili was my tour guide for the ring road tour. She is passionate, flexible and knowledgeable. I had a great time with her and the group!
Great overall experience both for kids and adults. Varied and fun. Extremely experienced guide who knew how to adapt depending on weather. Comfortable vehicle and small group. An unforgettable week! It should be better explained that the blue lagoon addition is completely disconnected though: another bus after the end of the main tour. As such it’s inconvenient as it doesn’t leave much time to drop bags in between + there’s no hotel pick up for that. It’s more expensive than booking independently. And the blue lagoon is not worth it. Feel extremely touristy and unclassy after the rest of the more remote trip
Hjalti was an amazing tour guide who truly went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable! His expertise and extensive knowledge made the tour both fascinating and enjoyable. We made several extra stops that weren’t originally included in the itinerary, and those ended up being some of our favorite moments. When the weather forced us to change plans, Hjalti adapted effortlessly, making the experience even more fun. He went with the flow while keeping us involved and asking for our input along the way. His flexibility, enthusiasm, and dedication made this tour truly special. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide and highly recommend him!
This tour was exquisite. Our tour guide, Hjalti, was wonderful. He made everyone feel welcome. The 6 day tour allowed us to see just about everything a person could hope to see in a week. Hjalti was very knowledgeable. He treated everyone with respect and provided perfect leadership. The members of our group got along very well and each added their own flavor to our group. We were a small group and Hjalti gave us an experience we will never forget. Our accommodations were wonderful and it was very pleasant when we all got together to enjoy a meal! Hjalti went above and beyond and helped everyone get the most out of our trip. I feel very lucky and blessed that we had Hjalti as our tour guide. He is truly a gem!
I joined the 6-Day ring road guided by Hjalti on 11 October and was completely satisfied with the tour. The tour was well-paced and Hjalti did a wonderful job being our guide and driver. The weather was chaotic at times but we were kept safe by Hjalti experienced driving skills. He also shared very informative stories about Iceland. Iceland weather is ever changing but Hjalti made sure we can do our activities well. E.g He rearranged the whale watching activity to be done a day earlier since the next day forecast was going to be bad. Seeing that we were a punctual group, he had planned ahead to include additional areas which was not part of the original itinerary which was a pleasant touch. It was a truly an enjoyable trip and I am certain that Arctic Adventures have set high standards on their guides to have allowed us be well taken care of and made the trip so memorable.
Our guide Hjaiti was excellent!! He was very knowledgeable about Iceland and the tour area. He is an excellent driver even in the snow and wind. He was also able to adjust our itinerary when the weather turned bad.
We had the best experience with Hjalti and Artic Adventures. Hjalti did such a good job navigating and adjusting where necessary to make sure we could do everything on our tour even when inclement weather happened (which it undoubtedly will). Having an Icelandic tour guide who clearly had a deep appreciation for Iceland's history and culture was phenomenal. The stops throughout the tour were great examples of what you can see and do in Iceland. I would recommend this tour to everyone, especially with Hjalti as your guide.
Hjalti was our guide and was very knowledgeable about the entire country. He always kept us informed about what we were seeing. Also, with very bad weather coming into the area he made adjustments to our tour to ensure we still had a great experience and was safe ! I would recommend him to anyone taking this tour. He made the tour very memorable.
Excellent introduction to Iceland - exactly what we were looking for. Tour covered a lot of ground and activities including hike to ice cave, whale watching and lagoon visit. Small friendly group - only nine in total. Long journeys in the minibus, but this was not an issue as we were able to admire the spectacular scenery. Tour guide ensured plenty of stops were factored in. The tour guide, Margrét, was knowledgeable and educated us on Icelandic history and folklore. And an excellent driver. Of course the weather changes rapidly in Iceland and food/drink is expensive. However we had five days of good weather and remember the excellent tap water is free. Would recommend to anyone visiting Iceland for the first time.
Best money I have ever spent in my life. Iceland is the most picturesque place I’ve ever been in my life. Our tour guide Magnus was incredibly knowledgeable about everything Iceland while being an exceptional and engaging story teller. He also made some additional stops to places that couldn’t be missed and were actually the highlight of the tour! Super well organised, entertaining and an experience I will never forget. So great for solo female travellers!
Ronan's extensive knowledge about Iceland's breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and unique culture brought each site to life. He didn’t just recite facts; he shared stories and personal anecdotes that made our journey feel intimate and special. His humor kept the atmosphere light and fun, and we found ourselves laughing as much as we were learning. We would highly recommend him to any group planning to tour Iceland!
This was an amazing tour leaving not many stones unturned. So many highlights and extras along the way. Our tour guide was Ronan and he truly was the raisin at the end of the hotdog! He is a volcano enthusiast and knowledgeable about EVERYTHING Iceland! I learned so much. And on top of that, he is a great storyteller! We loved all of his stories about Trolls and Elves! Thank you Ronan for your wealth of knowledge, your direction and guidance and getting us safely around this gorgeous country. I am sad that it has come to an end.
Highly recommend Arctic Adventures! Everything ran smoothly, with no hiccups, and the entire experience was very professional. Our six days traveling around Iceland in the beginning of September gave us a wonderful overview of this incredible country. Every day brought something new, from waterfalls, geysers, volcanoes, beautiful mountains, and glaciers to whales, seals, reindeer, and so many sheep and beautiful horses. We missed the puffins which we knew would happen. Along the way, we learned so much about Iceland’s history, culture, and what everyday life was—and is—really like there. We were also fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights twice! We spent a couple of days in Reykjavík before the tour began, which I highly recommend. It is such a beautiful, historic, clean, and interesting city. We were especially lucky to have Árný, “Sunny,” as our guide for our six-day tour of Iceland. Her nickname fits her perfectly! Sunny made this wonderful experience even better. She was warm, funny, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. We especially loved the personal stories she shared about her life and family. They made us feel as though we were experiencing Iceland with a local friend rather than simply taking a tour. She also had excellent recommendations for all things Iceland and was an outstanding driver. By the end of our six days, we were genuinely sad to say goodbye. She was a huge part of what made our Iceland trip so special and memorable. Thank you so very much, Árný! 🇮🇸❤️
I really loved this trip. Elisa was such a great guide, so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. She made the trip extra special.
Iceland is beautiful, and the guide was very friendly and informative
The trip was well worth the money. Our driver/guides were very knowledgeable and went out of their way to show us more than what was on the program. Very professional, polite and patient! Jakob was especially and by far one of the nicest people I have ever met. I learned a lot of history from both drivers. I will definitely make Iceland a stop on future travels!
This tour was exactly what I wanted. I was able to see the beauty of the country every day I was there. The length of the tour was just right for me. Arctic Adventures appears to be a well organized and an experienced company. Chow who was our mini bus driver and guide was outstanding. There were no issues. Everything was well planned and coordinated. Chow went way and above normal expectations to provide us the best possible experience. He was respectful and mindful of our needs and very approachable. The success of a tour resides on the guide’s skillset and Chow knocked it out of the park. Nice work. I highly recommend this trip.
This was a fantastic trip! I would highly encourage anyone considering exploring Iceland to use Artic Adventures, especially if you could specifically ask for Maggie our tour guide!
I joined the Golden Circle tour and had an absolutely wonderful experience. At first, I couldn’t imagine how it would be possible to travel around Iceland in just six days, but everything was surprisingly smooth and well organized. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see as much of Iceland as possible in a short amount of time. That said, the itinerary is quite packed, and you change accommodations almost every night, so I would recommend it more for people who have plenty of energy and don’t mind being on the move. If you prefer a slower, more relaxed pace, this tour might feel a little busy. Our tour guide, Hjalti, was absolutely fantastic!!! We were genuinely lucky to have him as our guide. His extensive experience as a traveler, his knowledge of Iceland, and his understanding of Icelandic history and culture made the journey so much more interesting. He shared so many fascinating stories and facts, often with a great sense of humor. He also took us to a few places that weren’t originally included in the itinerary when time allowed. I really appreciated this flexibility and felt that it showed genuine hospitality and care for the people on the tour. Listening to Hjalti talk while he was driving felt almost like listening to a really good podcast. His stories were so interesting and his voice was incredibly easy to listen to. He was also very flexible with the timing and took our preferences and opinions into consideration throughout the trip. I really wanted to give him a tip, but unfortunately I didn’t have any cash with me. If you’re taking this tour, I would definitely recommend showing your appreciation to him if you can — he truly deserves it. As for the tour itself, personally, I found the early mornings and packed schedule quite tiring. But thanks to that schedule, we were able to experience Iceland from east to west and north to south in just six days, so in the end, it was absolutely worth it. The hotel choices were also good, and the bus was new, clean, and comfortable. Overall, I was very satisfied with the organization and the quality of the tour. I would also highly recommend this tour to solo travelers, It’s a great way to explore Iceland while meeting other people along the way. If I had one suggestion, it would be to offer apartment-style accommodation as an option, if possible. Iceland is definitely not a cheap country, and after several days of eating out, I personally found myself lacking vegetables and even ended up getting quite a few mouth ulcers. 😅 Having the option to stay somewhere with a small kitchen where guests could prepare their own meals during the trip would be fantastic. Overall, I had a truly memorable experience and would definitely recommend this tour, especially to anyone who wants to see as much of Iceland as possible in a relatively short amount of time.
Our guide, Casper truly made this once and a lifetime trip for me so memorable, magical and completely unforgettable. His knowledge of everything Iceland was amazing and I truly feel I learned a lot about your country from Casper alone. We all want to come back for another trip to Iceland (2.0) and we want to have Casper show us the other side of Iceland. Hopefully we can make that happen in a couple years.
The 6 day ring road tour was the best experience I have ever had. Our guide, Margrét, was so kind, funny, helpful and had the best Icelandic stories to share with us. She made sure we were all safe and had a great time. Despite traveling alone as a woman, I felt very safe and the people I travelled with made me also feel very comfortable and happy. I started missing the trip once I got home. It was really good and worth the money and time I spent. We got to see so many beautiful places in Iceland and stayed at really unique and great accommodations around the country. It was a good balance of exploring the country and also getting time to rest before the next activity/day. I would highly recommend Margrét and this tour with arctic adventure if you are considering traveling to Iceland.
We booked the 6 day ring tour with the adventure option(included the whale watching and earth lagoon tickets. Our guide/driver/experience manager was Óscar the guide. His experience, knowledge and organization made the trip fantastic. The weather was better than average, had sun most days and the clouds rain only parts of a couple days. Óscar altered the iteniary based on the weather and views due to clouds. One of my friends was in the travel industry and based on my pictures said this.was one of the best tours he has seen. Would highly recommend. I would have booked the 7 or 8 day ring tour to see a few more sites.
Iceland was a truly unique and breathtaking experience. Despite an unusually rainy August, the weather never diminished our ability to enjoy everything this incredible country has to offer. The landscapes were absolutely stunning, and every day brought a new and unforgettable view. A special thank you to our guide, Good John, who was insightful, funny, and incredibly accommodating throughout the trip. His knowledge and personality added so much to the experience. Iceland exceeded our expectations and left us with memories that will last a lifetime.
The best thing was the guide Sigurdur Hroarsson who explained everything very good and was very kind to everyone. His knowledge about history was incredible and his dedication to us unbelievable. It was really a pleasure, greetings from Valencia, Spain!
Lili was amazing! So friendly and knowledgeable. Had a great time with all the others on our tour. What a beautiful country Iceland is.
Arny our guide was outstanding. She made sure the kids were included in the activities.
our guide Hjalti was wonderful and really elevated the whole experience
Wonderful tour! We felt like we really got to experience the uniqueness of this remarkable country. We had a congenial tour group from Australia, China, Poland, Great Britain, Canada and around the U.S., and our Icelandic tour guide Adolf was both amusing and extremely knowledgeable about Icelandic culture, history and mythology. My friend and I both recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for a very personal, friendly way to experience the many treasures that Iceland has to offer.
The best vacation Ive had! We could enjoy every moment because everything had been planned and accounted for. Karl was an amazing personable and informative guide. The people on our trip were open to connecting. Its hard to choose my favorite part because every day had so many fun experiences.
All in all a wonderful experience, but some significant hiccups. Pros: Awesome sights! The guide was great. Nice selection of sites to visit. Hotels were mostly good. Cons: My seat on the bus was very uncomfortable as I have long legs and it was the smallest seat in the front row! They should leave this seat empty or reserve it for a smaller person or child. The Wilderness Hotel was in poor condition. My door rattled every time someone opened theirs. At a few sites we didn't have enough time (esp Hverir). The drop off process was very confusing - I couldn't tell exactly what I was supposed to do. It ended up ok but was stressful. They should provide an exact itinerary, I often had no idea what was next. For example there was a spa experience but for some reason I didn't hear about it until the last minute.
Our tour guide was Hjalti and he could not have provided a better Iceland tour experience. He was very knowledgeable about the sites we were seeing, the history of Iceland, places we should eat, and he even managed to fit in a few places that were not on our itinerary, such as visiting an Icelandic horse farm. This was my very first trip abroad and he made it a vacation I will never forget. I also highly recommend Arctic Adventures. The pick ups and drop offs were always right on time, they scheduled so many activities every day that you don’t feel like you missed out on anything (even though you saw the entire country in six days), and we always had the best accommodations at the end of each day.
Viggo was an exceptional tour guide. He was so responsive to the groups interests and made sure our group was included in ideas of interest. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Loved every minute.
Hjalti was an AMAZING tour guide for our 6-day Iceland tour! Extremely knowledgeable of all Icelandic customs, history, and geography, he expertly narrated our entire trip. I learned so many things! He also took us to many incredible places off the beaten path that really set the trip apart from the itinerary. This was a truly fantastic experience. The van was comfortable, accommodations were clean and comfortable, and best of all we were able to relax and enjoy! Really appreciated Hjalti and his knowledge and expertise. Truly a trip to remember !
Absolutely the best way to experience everything that Iceland has to offer. Our guide, Hjalti, was absolutely fantastic and answered all of our (numerous) questions and pointed out so many cool local spots and shared history everywhere. The pacing was great—long days, but we saw so much!! Accommodations were always clean and safe, and getting the experience of smaller fishing towns throughout the country was amazing. As a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodations available throughout the trip, I never had a time where I couldn’t find something to eat. Will be recommending to anyone I know who plans to come to Iceland!!
This was a great introduction to the various sites and experiences around Iceland traveling on the Ring road. The experience was enhanced by our guide Viggo, who described the sites and put them in context with a little natural history , civil history, and local culture mixed with anecdotes and a few jokes. Viggo chose some great locations to stop to see unique vistas or natural sites. The stops he chose for lunch always had great tasting fresh local food.
My wife and I booked this tour for our honeymoon and we could not have been happier with the experience. This tour took us all around Iceland and crammed so many wonderful experiences and sights into just six days. The accommodations were very comfortable, and even luxurious at times. We came prepared for the weather (bring waterproof layers!) so had no issues in rain or shine. We got to experience all of the picturesque natural beauty of Iceland, as well as the more metropolitan areas of Akureyri, and downtown Reykjavík at the end of the tour. What really made this experience so special was our guide - Óskar was not only knowledgeable and entertaining when narrating our stops, but leveraged his knowledge of the area to help us make unified and informed decisions about when there were better options than what the tour agenda official prescribed. I don't think there was a single person in our group who didn't intimately trust him by the end of the week. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us and we hope to come back to Iceland sometime in the future to build on what this trip started.
Vignir Jonsson was an excellent guide/driver. It was a fun whirlwind and we saw quite a bit of Iceland. The stories on the bus were informative and imaginative, creating life long connections.
Wonderful experience. Our guide Vignir Jonsson was professional, friendly, very knowledgeable and very dry sense of humor that we all enjoyed. We also had a lovely group to travel with and experience this breathtaking country.
This trip hit most of the highlights of what one would want to see during their travels around the ring road. However, we had a couple of negative experiences. Firstly, on the first day when we did not see something that was in the itinerary, the guide, when questioned, explained that they had not updated it, and to pay no attention to that. Consequently, things we had planned for and been excited to see, we did not. Secondly, there was a traveler in our group who was unable to keep up on hikes; this person knew before signing up that he was not in the physical shape necessary to do all the excursions. As a result, the guide decided on his own to pass on a 3-mile hike to what was to be one of the most spectacular waterfalls and hikes. The rest of the passengers were as upset as I was for this decision. Similarly, the glacier hike was cut short due to this traveler; best decision would have been for him to remain in the van while the rest of us were able to do and see what we came for. Again, what we saw was wonderful, but the inconsistencies left us not able to recommend Arctic Adventures to anyone.
This was the most enjoyable trip ever. Originally we were going to rent a car and book our stays and travels all on our own. I am so glad that we went with Artic Adnventures instead. Our guide was absolutely wonderful, the accommodations were perfect and we enjoyed all our meals and sites visited. I would highly recommend this tour. We learned so much about Iceland and the history along with viewing many wonderful sites. Thank you so much to our driving, Deedee (I don't know how too spell his nickname.) We all felt very fortunate too have him as our guide and driver.
My Wife and I had the greatest experience we could have wished for. Our Guide, Gunner Sigurdsson was the perfect combination of Gentleman, Comedian, knowledge of everything Iceland, good driver. His restaurant suggestions were spot on. His favorite things became our favorite things. If We ever come back here again I would have any other guide and would recommend him and the tour to everyone. Thank You to Gunner (the Tip of the Spear!) for making it special and Arctic Adventure for Memories. We also had a very fun group with us too…
Terrific itinerary that jammed with both the greatest hits and one-hit wonders in Iceland’s catalog. We were new to tour travel, but it’s a great way to get to know a country that has so much to offer. And the smaller van size was not too overwhelming. Our guide Sigurður (nickname=Didi) was super well-organized who demonstrated deep knowledge of volcanology, geology, history and culture. We took advantage of the opportunity to add on some activities. The glacier hike was a highlight, and guide Irena de España went above and beyond to make the hike safe and enjoyable for my son who was new to the activity. It was also a fun and pleasant group with varied interests to spend a week with. A-pluses all around.
The 6 day Iceland tour was excellent, and our guide was very professional. Everything was well organized, and we had an amazing experience. Highly recommended!
Avoid this 6-Day Ring Road tour if you travel alone, as a couple, or a regular family. you will be forced into toxic seat war during 5days!( they will intervene when the tour was almost over) 1. The Glacier Scam: It is NOT a real trek through crevasses. They take you on a cheap 5-minute walk to the flat, dirty entrance ridge (see my photos). It is complete false advertising for a 27,000 ISK upgrade. 2. Terrible Group Mixing: They blindly mix misbehaved children and seniors. Unprepared family members constantly delayed the tour, leaving the itinerary completely rushed and ruining the experience. 3. Insulting Compensation: For the ruined hike, they offered a ridiculous £13 refund (20% of the glacier portion). 4. Safety Failure & Abuse : A middle-aged couple group cut in line. When I told them not to cut in line, they aggressively shouted "Shut up!" in my face and forcibly ripped my personal bag. The management hides behind contractual loopholes instead of solving customer distress. You will NOT get the experience you paid for. Avoid at all costs.
The tour was very interesting and included all the 'famous' spots. But we visited also other places, which made the tour even more special. Our guide was very kind. He was able to tell a lot about the nature and history of iceland. He cared about our well-being and thought everything through.
THE GOOD Excellent tour 6 day tour around Iceland. Vigo the driver was a living encyclopedia of knowledge on all things Icelandic. He genuinely went out of his way to make the tour as memorable as possible. He deserves a lot of credit since he was let down in many ways by the main organising office. THE NOT SO GOOD We were informed that pickup was starting at 8am at our hotel. However we were picked up last at 8:50 am. First two hotels were owned by Arctic Adventures, the only place to eat in the evening was at their hotel. Exorbitant prices and very limited choice, typically lamb or fish. Also orders were taken in the bus in the afternoon on three occasions, and the orders were wrong. Also on the additional activities the driver did not seem to be aware who had paid and who had not. At Myvatn baths we waited 15 minutes to sort out which 6 of 7 had paid. Could not access the web site to book extras. Never notified of which hotels we would be staying in.
I had a great time exploring Iceland with Arctic Adventure! The 6 day trip around the country was a good itinerary for an introduction to the country, but I believe my tour guide Ronan made the experience beyond imaginable with incorporating plans to stop at all the best hidden gems, giving out great recommendations on what to eat, but also helping to make my friend’s birthday extra special by giving us the option to add in a horse back ride on the Icelandic horses following the visit to the horse farm on the final day. They even prepared a “birthday cake” made up of the Icelandic’s famous rye bread and butter with a candle on top. There was even another couple in the group that was celebrating their anniversary and they gave them a celebratory rye bread “cake” as well. On the day we went to the famous diamond beach, it unfortunately did not have any “diamonds” on it, where we tried to give it some time for the tide to possibly change and he switched up the itinerary to see the glacier lagoon first, which was amazing in of itself. After time at the lagoon and hoping there would be more diamonds, we went back to the beach where unfortunately it wasn’t in our favor. So instead of facing disappointment, Ronan offered an alternative to see a beautiful waterfall, which ended up being this great hike to get to the bottom of and it was of course beautiful and better than seeing nothing at diamond beach. He was also able to arrange the itinerary on one of the days for us to see puffins and this was a great experience as this location we were guaranteed to see the puffins. Even though this happened before the whale watching experience, this made up for not being able to see any whales during our whale watching excursion. The fellow travelers all ranged from couples, friends, a family, and us (a group of 5 friends). There was a day where there was a hiccup to the schedule due to one set of travelers not arriving to the bus on time, causing us to have to leave without them in order to make it to the reserved whale watching excursion on time. (they had a warning to not be late for this particular day and the day before they were consistently late, where at one point Ronan had to go back out and look for them and this caused us to be delayed for the rest of the day including to the forest lagoon and having less time at the spa). Apparently they made a big stink about “racism” (they were Asian) to the company head and the boss made the whole group of us wait for them while they went out on a private whale watching tour. This caused a 2 and half hour delay to the schedule. I’m sure we missed out on a potential great day due to having to skip some sights because of this family. Also I would like to add that I myself am Asian and never felt like I was treated any differently by Ronan and in fact find him to be the best tour guide I have had in all of my travels. Ronan was such a great storyteller from one sight to another as he incorporated some history of the Vikings, science of the volcanoes and the glaciers, and lores about the trolls and the elves. He was also a great tour guide we could all banter with and he picked up on the things we individually liked and were comfortable with in terms of “adventure.” He has a bunch of experience of being a tour guide for other sectors of the company where he had some good tips on what to be prepared for in “the snorkling between tectonic plates” excursion my friends and I ended up doing after the trip was over. I give Ronan a 100/10 in terms of the service he provided and I believe with any other tour guide, I wouldn’t have had the same experience. As for the itinerary itself, the first two days can be pretty crowded due to popularity of the sights, but then the crowd eased up and I enjoyed that as it felt like we were seeing Iceland’s hidden gems that other people aren’t willing to drive to on their own. If you decide to go in the summer, be prepared for the feeling of timelessness as the sun never really goes away fully. You’ll be out for a walk that feels like 10 mins and in reality it has been 2 hrs. As for the breakfast options at the hotels, it started out strong with a bunch of solid options at the buffet, to ending with a buffet where the food wasn’t good. The rooms were stayed in were clean, but not prepared for summer as the rooms themselves were often very warm. One of the rooms we stayed in had a back door and so we opted to leave the door open to get some cool air in and following that night I ended up getting a bunch of bites up my arm and neck by some sort of insect. In reality that was our fault being the rooms were next to a forest and there was going to be some sort of wildlife that would find its way in. On the last night, we were unexpectedly upgraded to an apartment and that was an amazing experience as the apartment had so much space and was right next to the shore so that night I took the opportunity to watch the sun set and it was beautiful!
