I had a great experience on this 5-day tour! One thing I particularly appreciated was the flexibility in the tour arrangements, which allows travellers to choose a suitable starting day. This is especially helpful for people travelling from far away, like me, as it makes coordinating flights, holidays and other travel plans much easier. I also really liked that the shorter part of the tour was arranged over two days rather than as separate day trips. This meant spending less time on the road and avoiding unnecessary journeys back to the capital, leaving more time to enjoy the trip. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and shared plenty of interesting historical information about the places we visited, as well as fascinating stories about the country during the drives between destinations. The tour was well organised overall, with sufficient stops for toilet breaks and picking up supplies, and good choices for lunch stops. Everything ran smoothly, making the journey comfortable and allowing us to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. Overall, I really appreciated the flexibility, knowledgeable guide and good organisation. It was an enjoyable and convenient way to explore the country, and I would happily recommend this tour to other travellers!

Itinerary
Day 1
1
During this first day you will be exploring Deildartunguhver hot spring, the most powerful hot spring in all Europe. Stop by a nearby farm where you can have the chance to pet Icelandic horses! Whilst the surroundings are very picturesque, make sure to always stay on the pathways.
Historical hot spring pool Snorralaug, treasured as the bathing spot of Iceland’s most famous poet and politician, Snorri Sturluson.
"The Lava Waterfalls" is a collection of smaller waterfalls cascading through the cracks of lava formations.
On the river Hvítá in Borgarfjörður. Hraunfossar flows out of a lava field into Hvítá near Barnafoss, creating a stunning scenery from the waters that flow from Langjokull Glacier.
The day ends with Gerðuberg, a cliff of dolerite, a coarse-grained basalt rock, located on the western peninsula of Snæfellsnes. This amazing wonder was created from ancient flowing lava being cooled against the sea water.
Day 2
2
After a filling breakfast at our hotel, we continue westwards. Making our way through alpine scenary we will arrive at our first stop Arnarstapi. It is a quaint fishing village at the foot of Mt. Stapafell and you will get the chance to check out it's surrounding area.
Within Snaefellsnes National Park is Vatnshellir Cave, an 8,000 year old lava cave. You will have the chance to be guided by an expert explaining all the features relating to its formation and history.
Charming village where we will stop for lunch. Then we'll continue to the beautiful black pebble beach at Djúpalónssandur. This beach is isolated from the rest of the coast surrounded by tall, rugged cliffs facing the Atlantic Ocean.
To cap off the day we will head to the photogenic Kirkjufell Mountain with stunning views.
Day 3
3
First on our list of stops of the Golden circle, we will arrive at one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Thingvellir. Given this status for its magnificent historical and geological importance. Explore this wonder that is the site of the meeting point of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Thingvellir is also home to the longest-running parliament in the worlds, the Althingi. Don't forget to look our for the largest natural lake in the country, Thingvallavatn.
Continuing deeper inland we will arrive in the geothermally active area of Haukadalur. Home to Geyser of which all others are named after. Although it erupts infrequently it's neighbour Strokkur, 50 metres next to it, erupts every 5 minutes as reliable as clockwork. Water erupts from 20 metres to as high as 40!
Gullfoss is located a 5 minute drive from Geysir. The waterfall is located in the canyon of the Hvítá river in southwest Iceland. breathtaking Gullfoss Waterfall. There you traverse a narrow path that provides close-up views of the massive, two-tiered waterfall below.
A view to the infamous volcano Hekla opens up as we drive to our next stop, Seljalandsfoss Waterfall.
Seljalandsfoss is situated along the Seljalandsá river where the waterway plummets 40 metres over a cliff face. Seljalandsfoss is unique among waterfalls, as the shape of the cliff over which it falls allows visitors to walk behind the chute via a footpath at the base of the falls.
Skógafoss is one of Iceland’s biggest and most beautiful waterfalls with an astounding width of 25 meters and a drop of 60 meters. Due to the amount of spray the cascade produces, at least one rainbow is present any time the sun emerges from behind the clouds.
Reynisfjara is a world-famous black-sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland, just beside the small fishing village of Vík. Witness the enormous Renisdrangur basalt stacks and roaring waves coming from the Atlantic. The day will be finished with a hunt for the Northern Lights and continuing on to our hotel close to Vík.
Day 4
4
Today we’ll commence upon our glacier adventure portion of the trip, exploring a natural ice cave in Vatnajokull Glacier. The magical stroll in the ice cave will take about 45 minutes. Your guide will point out some awe-inspiring features, you’ll learn how the cave was formed and the story behind its brilliant blue color. Make sure you have your camera with you’re sure to catch some truly inspiring photo opportunities throughout your hike.
Jökulsárlón is a glacial lagoon, bordering Vatnajökull National Park in southeastern Iceland. Its still, blue waters are dotted with icebergs from the surrounding Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, part of larger Vatnajökull Glacier. The Glacier Lagoon flows through a short waterway into the Atlantic Ocean, leaving chunks of ice on a black sand beach.
The Diamond Beach is a strip of black sand belonging to the greater Breiðamerkursandur glacial plain, located by Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland. Here, the icebergs which fill Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon wash up on shore, standing dazzling and defiant in stark contrast to the black sand beach. It is, therefore, a favourite amongst photographers, nature-lovers, and wildlife-enthusiasts. Many seals call this beach home, and it is one of the best places in the country to see orcas from the shore. If the forecast is favorable, we’ll keep our eyes out for the Aurora Borealis before we head to our accommodation in Skaftafell.
Day 5
5
After breakfast, our specialist guide will select the best route for your hike on the glacier. Before you make your way you will be provided with all the necessary glacier equipment, some of which you will have used in the ice cave. Our guide will provide expert insights about the glacial expanse beneath your feet. We will get a chance to visit some more highlights of the south coast (daylight / time permitting) before we get back to Reykjavik.

We went to Iceland for the first time and decided on the 5-Day Snæfellsnes Peninsula And South Iceland Tour with ArticAdventures. We were somewhat concerned with a group tour because we usually wing it ourselves. Fortunately we have nothing but positive memories. Our guide Christopher was organized, informative, helpful and fun. We experienced more of Iceland with his guidance in 5 days than we could have done by ourselves in 2 weeks.
This was one of the best experience I've had in a trip. We had a 5 day hike and he provided a fun high quality experience with food, a great grows, and just amazing (and surprise views for 5 days. The group was amazing and we had a great time talking with people across the world
Did the 4 day treck in Laugavegur also + Ice climbing tour. Every guides were verry patient and generous. Arctic adventure really made my travel unforgetable.
We did the 5-day Snæfellsnes and South Coast tour with Arctic Adventures, and it was easily one of the most beautifully curated trips I’ve ever experienced. A huge part of that was our guide, Bjorn—truly one of the most delightful, charming, thoughtful, accommodating and resourceful people I’ve met. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying every moment. I chose this tour after a lot of research, and I’m so glad I went with Arctic Adventures. Everything was incredibly well organized from start to finish. We traveled in a comfortable minibus with 11 fellow travellers with frequent, well-timed stops for meals and breaks. The accommodations were in small hotels in quiet villages, each offering breathtaking views. One of the highlights was seeing the Northern Lights on our very first night, right outside our hotel in Hellissandur—an unforgettable experience. The itinerary was perfect—we covered all the iconic sights across Iceland including waterfalls, geysers, black sand beaches, lagoons, lava fields, glacier walks, and even ice caves, along with some lesser-known hidden gems. Despite seeing so much, the pace was relaxed and never exhausting. I can’t recommend Arctic Adventures enough—and if you’re lucky enough to have Bjorn as your guide, you’re in for an incredible experience.
Driving in Iceland is dangerous due to very high winds, snow, rain, etc.. it changes from moment to moment. This is a wonderful tour to take with a highly experienced driver in those elements that is continuously informed by the office of any weather or road dangers in his path. The tour covered all of the beautiful highlights in the golden and silver circle. This tour in particular is a small group, so you get to know everyone, and we had the most delightful group of young solo travelers, elderly couples, family , we all got along so well. Also being 20 or less people, you travel in a sprinter rather than a large bus, so there are places that are more accessible. Being a small group , people are more respectful of times of departure from each area. In a large group it's more likely that you will loose time waiting for those rogue tourists that only think of themselves. The driver we had DJ Christof was a wonderful safe driver that truly cared about his group. The restaurants he took us to were very good ,considering that you won't find much variety in Iceland midrange restaurants in general. He was entertaining and very nice. The hotels we stayed in were comfortable and clean. The breakfasts they serve don't have much to offer: boiled/scrambled eggs, cold cuts, oatmeal, yogurt, bread & bacon. A few fruits. I loved not having to plan our trip to see all of the highlights, that was taken care of, and most importantly we had enough time in each place to explore. I would have liked another 30 mins at black diamond beach, because the pictures were spectacular and there was a lot of walking to get from there to the glacier lagoon. The driver/guide does not go with you at the stops, you are on your own to explore and take along as you want taking pictures or hiking, I loved that, I hate to feel like sheep being herded. I would warn future travelers that the glacier hike is incredible, and you are assigned a guide there, but It is a strenuous activity. There are steep walks on rocks and ice, so know your physical limits. Do take bottled water with you, as you will get thirsty, and a backpack that you could put your jacket into if you get too warm. **Very IMPORTANT** buy yourself hiking spikes for Iceland, regardless if on a tour. You will need them everywhere to walk on ice, keep them in the bus with you. The sprinter is somewhat tight in space, not much legroom and the overhead compartment is small for larger backpacks, so you'll have it on your lap if there aren't empty seats. **Wear layers, it will be windy freezing one moment and warm- take off your coat the next. Ski goggles or large. sunglasses are great when there is hail flying into you.
We joined the 5-Day Snæfellsnes Peninsula and South Iceland Tour with Arctic Adventures, and it was a wonderful experience. Maggie was a very professional, knowledgeable, and kind guide. She shared many interesting insights about Iceland and gave us helpful tips that allowed us to see the Northern Lights. The tour followed the itinerary well, and we were lucky to enjoy glacier hiking, feed Icelandic horses, and take in the beautiful scenery. Thank you, Maggie, for your care and hospitality—highly recommended!
Totally brilliant, unpredictable, Awsome country. Vignir a brilliant, funny, professional, knowledgeable guide . Thanks.
The whole experience was good. The tour guides were both nice and professional and the spot arrangements appropriate. Of course, it will be perfect if more time can be spent on the blue ice cave exploration in Vatnajokull since only we were only able to spend a brief moment (5-10 minutes) in the cave whereas we were given to understand from the customer services that we can spend at least 45 minutes in the cave.
Iceland is a fantastic country, visiting two distinct parts of the country proved to be a good decision. We want to recognize the fantastic job of our guide Gunnar, he was amazing in all senses, helpful, knowledgeable and funny. We do recognize his job and highly recommend it. Thank you.
This tour worth the price ! If u have only have one week time in Iceland u should book this tour ! Our guide was incredible and knowledgeable!
this tour was sooo cool! we got to do quite a lot of things (despite the hours of daylight not being on our side) in such a short span of time, without it ever feeling too tiring or rushed. our tour group was relatively small and lead by the legendary Ronan who was incredibly knowledgeable and always up for a chat! would definitely recommend - we can't wait to go back to iceland!! - d, c & r :)
The tour was fantastic and Ronan was the best tour guide we have ever had. He knew all the best places and what was worth spending time on and what could be done quickly / skipped during to limited daylight. Would totally recommend doing a tour with Ronan and would love to do a tour with him again in the future
Just finished a 5 day tour, The Best of Iceland tour, and hands down this has been the best trip I have ever taken! I travel a lot but everything about the trip was 10/10. We were blessed to have the best tour guide anyone could ever ask for. Seigi is a retired professor so everything he explained was in his teaching form captivating everyone’s attention the entire time! They give us plenty of time at each destination. Hotels were nice, the last hotel where we spent 3 nights, Adventure hotel, was 10/10! Highly recommend this tour company and if you’re lucky, you’ll get Seiggi! We also did a Northern Lights tour! 10/10 And the Ice Cave with Jan was great! He kept us safe and it was great exploring the glacier with him!
The first two days in West Iceland are so so. The south iceland and ice cave glacier exploration are outstanding.
I recently took the 5-Day Arctic Adventure tour covering Snaefellsnes, the South Coast, and the Northern Lights, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! Our guide, Vjeran, was absolutely amazing. From the very start, he made sure we had plenty of time to explore each stop without ever feeling rushed. What really stood out was how flexible and passionate he was—he often made extra stops, even if they weren’t on the schedule, just so we could experience everything the area had to offer. Vjeran shared a wealth of information throughout the trip, always with a fun and engaging approach that made even the longest drives feel entertaining. He has a great sense of humor and kept the group smiling the entire time, which really added to the atmosphere of the tour. If you’re thinking about doing this trip, I can’t recommend it enough. The landscapes were stunning, the itinerary was well-balanced, and having a guide like Vjeran made it all the more special. This tour is the perfect way to experience Iceland’s magic in a fun, relaxed, and deeply enriching way.
This tour was the perfect way to see the best of the Snaefellsnuss peninsula and the south coast! We had Vjeran the first two days and Aaron the last three days and both were incredible and super knowledgeable guides. As two people who both hate driving, getting driven around in a sprinter van was the best. I can't recommend this tour enough!
We made the best decision to use ARCTIC ADVENTURES to see the wild & dramatic landscape of Iceland. We chose a 5 day guided tour which we felt was the perfect amount of time to see south west & south east coastlines. Our local guides were knowledgeable & good company. Every stop along the way was a wonderful surprise with beautiful scenic views. Plenty of walking & good meals enjoyed with fellow travellers. Such a fantastic & adventurous trip with memories to treasure forever. You can just relax & enjoy the journey.
I took the 5 day tour that starts and ends in Reykjavik and it was fantastic! Our guide Lili was the best, very knowledgeable, kind and patient. We got to see the lava cave, several waterfalls, a national park, a geysir and spent some time in a lagoon!
The whole experience with Arctic Adventures made our first trip to Iceland an incredible experience! First of all, our guide Gunnar should be retained by the company at all costs! He was all things: tour guide, chauffeur (even when winds were high), knowledgeable (regarding not only where to go, but when, so as to miss peak crowds), and he felt like an old friend even though we just met. Your company takes all the stress out of traveling and sightseeing in a different country. We saw so much more and could sit back and relax knowing navigation, food, lodging, transportation, etc. was already taken care of. I couldn’t possibly do justice explaining the beauty and grandeur of the places we saw. I guess travelers to Iceland will just have to see it themselves. And if you’re going to see them, do yourself a favor and use this company. Hopefully, if you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet my new pal, Gunnar!
Words cannot even describe how memorable this trip was, it was such an incredible experience. Our trip was 2 different tours combined into one. Our tour guide Mitch was our driver/guide for both tours, we had 5 people only on the bus for 2 days and then a total of 12 for the other 3 days. The trip was amazing, Mitch would change up the plan slightly if the weather was bad and he would be always looking to add extra sights ( not on the itinerary) along the way. He seriously made this trip so much better than I ever dreamed it to be. He was always concerned for our safety, but also helping us to have the best experience in Iceland. We saw and experienced far more than we expected. he gave us all the background info on each site, factual and the folktales. The time allocated to each sight was excellent. The hotels were very nice. Mitch was flexible and never once did he insist we needed to be back at the bus at a particular time to get to the next destination. I felt very relaxed and absolutely loved the various sights. Each day I thought we would be seeing just more of the same, but how wrong was I. Iceland is an amazing country with so many diverse and beautiful places to see and experience. We have been raving about this tour since arriving home, and a few friends are already booking for next year after seeing our photos. I hate bus tours however this was so much different and well worth it. I highly recommend this tour. I can't thank you enough.
Action packed 5 days with amazing views. Beautiful island and the guides were great too! Walked over 26 miles in those 5 days so bring comfortable shoes (hiking boots ane best) and be prepared for changing weather by the hour. But if you don’t want to walk as much you don’t have to see all of the sites.
Great tour. Hjalti and Diddy were great tour operators. Highly recommend the tour. We saw more sites than what we expected.
Words cannot even describe how memorable this trip was. Our trip was 2 different tours combined into one, so we had two different guides. We did the west coast & south tour with Katla Ice Cave on the last day. We cannot praise our tour guides enough, Kacper and Hilmar. They were knowledgeable, friendly, ensured we all stayed safe, and were easy to talk to. They gave us all the background info on each site, factual and the folktales. They made sure we had an amazing trip, and honestly they added to our trip! It wouldn’t have been the same without them and we would definitely book this tour again. Both went above and beyond for our group. We had just the perfect amount of time at each location, enough to awe at the scenery + take photos. The hotels we stayed at were so quaint. The Arctic Adventure hotel was my favorite - little cabins in the south coast with no light pollution & the most peaceful location. We got to see the northern lights 3 out of our 4 nights. So many sights were packed into each day without us feeling like we missed anything. 1000% recommend! Thank you so much Hilmar + Kacper, y’all gave us memories for a lifetime!
If you're into exploring new places, Iceland is for you. This was a breathless experience. You wouldn't think you're on Earth. Artic Adventures makes sure you are comfortable while exploring the country and Björn made the trip so fun and extraordinary, you should ask for him!
Arctic Adventures has a great reputation, and we were not disappointed! We went in the winter to experience everything Iceland has to offer and have a better chance to see the aurora, which we did. Our tour guide, Vjeran, for the south coast portion was beyond excellent. He is the perfect person for this experience and always made sure everyone was oaky and happy. He's super friendly and interesting, as well as interested in his group. I can't recommend him and Arctic Adventures enough. Iceland is a dream world!
We made the 7 day complete Iceland. It was an incredible trip, Iceland is amazing and the tour is very well planned, we enjoyed it BUT we had a VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH a "guide" named Thor. He is an excellent driver, but he is a terrible "guide". Never says "good morning", "do you need something"...His english pronunciation is terrible, unintelligible, so we missed a lot of information; if we asked him what he pretended to say he looked annoyed. Never in a disposition to help, I aslked Thor to please open the trasnporter cart to take something from my suitcase and he got very mad about it. He was meeting places and schedules in a very strictly manner, but he is very deficient when trying with humans. We think he could be an excellent worker with boxes, boxes don´t ask, boxes don´t bother. The hotels of the tour were good with one exception: a rural house in middle of nowwhere was TERRIBLE ! Dark, with no door in the inside bathroom, no glasses in room to take water, no mirror in room... and extremely expensive ! Finally, we choose Iceland in winter so we could see the northern lights, we choose your tour because every day ended with the possibility to see them. NOTHING MORE FAR FROM REALITY. Thor never gave a single clue. We know that auroras have to be hunted but with a bit of information. Thor never shared that information. We are very dissatisfied about it. Although this inconvenients, we enjoyed amazing, wonderful Iceland.
The 5 day tour combines 2 day and 3 day tours. Both were amazing with 2 excellent guides: Ollie and Christopher. Both guides were absolutely excellent. Thank you so much!
This company is a disaster. Very bad customer service, complete disorganization and a lack of respect for their customers. I recommend avoiding booking with them and saving yourselves troubles and money. What was supposed to be a dream holiday (and in which we invested lots of money) ended up being a huge stress. Me and my partner have booked a 5-Day - Snaefellsnes, South Coast, and Northern Lights, tour from Artic Adventures and we ended up not doing a lot of things that we were supposed to do: 1st - on the second day of the tour, due to bad weather, we only did 1/3 of the programmed plan and we also missed the krauma geothermal baths for which we had already paid as an extra! We were dropped in Reykjavik at 12 pm and the company did not care to suggest any other program and did not even bother contacting us with apologies and to discuss about refund. I have sent them an email about this to which I never got a reply. 2nd - for us, the highlight of these 5 days would be the scheduled glacier hiking and visit to an ice cave. But surprise surprise, we ended up not doing either! At the start of the tour our guide told us that since it was April, they had changed the program internally (without contacting us) to their summer program and the glacier hike was not part of it anymore. When I asked if it was due to safety reasons, the answer was that it was not, but it was only because they decided to change their program – This shows the lack of respect to the customers who booked one thing and ended up not getting it! Also, we were told to rest at ease that even if we would not do the glacier hike, we would be able to see it and have a nice experience in the Ice cave visit. 3rd - we had been told that the ice cave visit would be done on the 5th and last day of the tour. However, on the 4th day of the tour when we were arriving to the hotel, our guide told us that the ice cave was cancelled, without providing any explanation besides that there was something wrong at the office and that we could either get refund or rebook for another day. After this, I have immediately called artic adventures, and the person that picked up said she wasn't aware of anything, and she would try to get more information. I have never heard back from her. Also, we have tried to search alternatives with other companies to ensure we could visit the ice cave, and requested to be dropped off in Vik, which was denied to us because they said the tour wouldn’t stop there (And on the 5th day of tour, we ended up stopping there after all for a long time). Since we have not heard anything back, we called again to request an explanation on the cancelled trip and to see if there were any alternatives. The person that answered said that she was aware of the situation, that she had got many calls from other clients about the same issue, but that nothing was cancelled, and the trip would go as planned and that the guide was misinformed. And that in case something was cancelled, we would get an email. To our surprise, on the next day, when we got on the bus to start the tour, the guide told us again that the ice cave visit was canceled, and we would go somewhere else instead. I demanded to know what was happening and the guide’s answer was that someone in the office made a mistake, booked our trip wrongly, so now they could not get any buses for us to go to the ice cave. While if a trip had been cancelled due to bad weather, as happened on the 2nd day of the tour we would understand, however, we cannot accept that a professional tour company makes such a big mistake letting the clients be highly penalized. We did not get what we paid for and we felt we were mistreated and played with. In the final day of our tour, I sent an email asking for clarifications and refund and compensation. The only reply I got was that they would investigate and come back to me asap. After 15 days, 2 emails and a phone call, I did not get any reply yet. Moreover, I was told on the phone that this could take several weeks as my complaint was not the only complaint they have.
Very disappointed with this trip! I chose this tour because I wanted my family to have AN experience and not just take a scenic bus tour. This was a 2 day northwest trip followed by a 3 day southeast trip both taking us back to Reykjavik. The 2nd day, due to high winds, the tour guide brought us back to the hotel at 11am and we lost a day- thank goodness we entertained ourselves by going to museums and sky lagoons. The last day of our 3 day trip- our excursions - ice cave and ice glacier hiking were canceled. We did not get an official explanation but they said Artic Adventures overbooked. I am so disappointed and spent countless hours calling, and sending them texts to no response.
Bantering with tour guide. Aran. He made it fun. A lot of great scenery and Icelandic history, explained well by guide.
The tour exceeded my expectations. It was packed with activities and clipped along at a steady pace. Arctic Adventures ensures its customers can see as much of Iceland as possible. Aron, our tour guide, is a native of Iceland and a licensed glacier guide. His expertise and love of his country colored our experience. He also tailored information to match our interests. I was interested in Icelandic folktales about the incredible land formations experienced on our trip and he made sure to tell stories about specific sites that included old Icelandic stories about ogres, hidden people, and other supernatural Icelandic characters.
At first, I saw a photo of the company's so-called SuperBlue IceCave and booked it at a high price of over US$ 1300 per person. The 17 participants were divided into two groups, 8 and 9. The leading group was a young Native English Speaker, and the latter group was huge men, a woman who were unsure of trekking and non-Western couples. The explanation of the glacier was long, and we had to wait for the previous group to finish. We visited one small crack in the ice, and then were told explanations such as the retreat of the glacier endlessly, and precautions on how to walk, and were made to walk right and left on the glacier. In addition, the guide threw my ice axe and told me to go pick it up, which was very unpleasant because I was treated like a dog. Then we finally reached the cave that the previous group had finished seeing, and just when I thought I could finally see the SuperBlue Ice Cave, the guide told us that the next group would come and that we would get off with the previous group. The rain lifted in the morning, but the weather had recovered, and the rainbow was clearing, so I thought that seeing the blue cave would be a long-held dream come true, but I can't believe it ended right in front of the cave. Even though I paid quite expensive fee for this Ice Cave and participated from far away, it was an unthinkable shock. If the weather is bad, I can still give up, but this kind of artificial manipulation is unacceptable and unforgivable. Nothing but poor operation and discrimination at Arctic Adventures. The company states, "* In case of bad weather when it is difficult to guide you to an alternative tour, a part of the tour price may be refunded." Even worse than bad weather. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but such a man-made disappointment and humiliating tour is unforgivable. The man in the second group also said, " It’s interesting. It's just walking on the glacier." Those participating in this English-speaking tour should be aware that not being fluent in English can cause tension and discomfort, as well as unfair injustice and discrimination based on age and country. However, in hindsight, the entrance to the second IceCave was also small, not as big as the one I saw on TV, called SuperBlue. The second IceCave may have been the same small ice crack as the first. The company then uses SuperBlue's photographs to make visitors think they are visiting, but in fact they are taking customers into the cracks of the ice. Isn't this a scam? It’s just walking on the glacier」と言っていた。
An amazing collection of sights in a whirlwind tour of western and southern Iceland. You could easily spend 5 weeks exploring the same areas, as there seemed to be something gorgeous around every corner. Given that it's only 5 days, however, you have to expect that you won't be able to luxuriate in the beauty at every stop. Especially when you only have 5 or 6 hours of daylight to squeeze everything in each day! With that in mind, our skilled and charming guide, Ronan, did a great job at maximizing our experiences. He was efficient with getting us to as many sights as possible, and gave great advice as how best to appreciate them within our limited time. There was clearly a lot more that he wanted to show us but didn't have the opportunity. Nonetheless, he managed to squeeze in a few extra little stops that made our tour even more special. A good guide makes all the difference, and I'm glad that we had Ronan. Also keep in mind that the winter weather in Iceland can be unpredictable. The first day of the tour and half of the second had to be significantly altered due to the road conditions, so we missed out on some of the sights. The company (and Ronan) scrambled to put together other activities for us. You can't blame them for the weather, so just be prepared if things change.
The 5 day tour is actually broken into a 2 day tour and a 3 day tour. Overall the trip was magical for us and we thoroughly enjoyed it. A big part of what made it amazing was our guide Vjeran. The trip highlights Iceland in all its glory and you cover all the major things across the west and south coast of Iceland. We did a lot of research around different operators in Iceland, and after a lot of time spent going through reviews went with Arctic; and we were not disappointed. The trip was very smoothly planned and while there was inclement weather, our guide Vjeran moved things around and made sure we still covered everything. It is often said in the service industry; that it’s not the product but the employees who make the product spectacular; and in this case the saying holds true; Vjeran made our trip successful and spectacular. Big thanks to Arctic to make our trip special, and an even bigger thanks to Vjeran to make it special and spectacular !! We are going back with a lifetime’s worth of memories, and all thanks to Vjeran, Arctic and Iceland.
Tour of a life time. My favorite part was the hike on Vatnajokull glacier. It was adventurous given it was windy and wet that day. The 5 day tour coverd south and western parts of iceland quite well and the tour guide Adolf was simply amazing!
We did a 4 day tour which is a combination of 2 tours. What we liked - They organised the whole trip and it went smooth and on time - we managed to see all the spots highlighted in the tour - the guide on the 2nd part of the tour was very knowledgeable and fun. Gave us a lot of facts and Icelandic history What we didn’t like - 1st guide was nice but was more of a driver than a guide. Didn’t explain what we were doing, where we were going or the day ahead. - the tour explicitly said Northern lights but there was no hunting they literally tell you to go find a dark spot and look at the sky. No direction, no hunting, no nothing. It was very frustrating that the tour says northern lights but fails to say that you have to do it on your own with no help from guide. We also booked a tour for golden circle + northern lights and the tour was supposed to be in 2 parts where they drop us off at the city Center for dinner after the golden circle then pick us up again at 20:30 for the lights but it was on the very bottom of the page and I missed the part that says they will pick us up again. Given the previous experience of northern lights with them I assumed it was just more of a if you see it during the tour you see it rather than actually going hunting for the lights at night. So we missed the northern lights tour part. Again a bit frustrating but I as they said it was on me and wasn’t able to reschedule it. Overall I liked the company and the tour. Would recommend them but I want to make the above points clear for anyone thinking of using the company
This tour was everything we expected and more! We packed a lot into the short days but it never felt rushed. Our guide Nick was awesome. He made sure we got the best photos, recommended delicious food, and answered all my questions (and there were many). I felt welcome and safe the whole time. I’m so glad we decided to book this tour instead of navigating through Iceland on our own.
Awesome adventure with Nick and our team to the secrets of Iceland. He is a good guide making sure you have the best experience and also a very thoughtfull Bus Dj. Ice cave adventure was one of the most exciting parts of our trip. Amazing landscapes and incredible waterfalls!
In spite of challenging weather conditions, our resourceful and friendly guides managed to take us to most of the breath taking sights and provided plenty insights into the Icelandic cultural heritage. The accommodation with breakfast provided all that was necessary. Highly to be recommended!
Despite quite adverse weather and road conditions, had a great trip (2+3 days, although some of it got cancelled). Amazing Vjeran (our tourguide) safely got us through all snowstorms. Our leisure was his pleasure (his motto, he also serving as our selfie-stick). But also amazing how the back office rebooked hotels and meals while we were on the road that were closed... Too bad we missed out on the Northern Lights and the Ice Cave (the one we visited has collapsed several months before), but still enjoyed the landscape and everything.
Well organised 5 day tour (2 +3) great guide (Nick), comfortable mini coach, regular comfort stops, good hotels. Unfortunately 'The Storm' curtailed latter 2 days - white out and blocked roads - but 'work arounds' and alternative indoor venues provided. Would love to go in summer and would use Artic Adventures.
I did the 5 day Northern Lights, Golden Circle, South Coast, Jokulsarlon and Ice Cave tour, which was really just the 3 day tour with pre and post accommodation, and an extra opportunity to try and see Northern Lights on those extra nights, however these extras were cancelled due to weather. The three days were really amazing- incredible how much we saw and experienced in those few days. Our tour guide was Nick and to be honest, I can’t imagine the trip being as good without him as our guide- he really just took it to that extra level for us. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the culture and history and places we visited and he shared so much more information with us than I expected, including introducing us to some pretty cool Icelandic music on our road trips (Eurovision anyone? Haha). Nick was so easy going and was keen to fit in everyone’s preferences wherever possible, and he had a cracking sense of humour that made those longer drives entertaining rather than boring. Nick knew how to avoid the most crowded times to visit the places we went, so we would often arrive just before or just after the bigger crowds which was perfect. He also went above and beyond in plenty of ways, for example the night we saw the Northern Lights at our accommodation he was the only guide out there taking photos of us (and of the other tourists not in our group!). The tour itself was really incredible- I fell in love with Iceland about 20 mins after leaving Reykjavik. I had booked the trip on a whim and had no real expectations so I was just blown away with how absolutely amazing this country is, and I feel like I saw and experiences such a lot of the country in the three days of the tour. Glacier walking, Northern Lights (I’d been chasing the Northern Lights in other countries for a while before finding them here- right above our accommodation on the first night in the countryside!), waterfalls, icebergs floating by, black sand beaches and SO. Much. More. I highly recommend this tour- very well planned and obviously they have incredible guides. As a solo traveller, I especially loved that there was no extra charge if you’re willing to be put in a room with another single guest (lucky for me I ended up with my own room and didn’t have to pay an extra cent, which was incredible). If you’re considering this company, go for it! I’m a very experienced traveller and this was up there as one of the best tours I’ve ever done.
Our tour guide Pascale made sure that my solo trip to Iceland was a grand success. She planned trip properly as she is very Knowledgeable. We didn't have any glitches and even helped others one the way sometimes which was super fun. She always made sure the group was enjoying and gave us lot of information about Iceland and it's people's lifestyle. We even got to visit some extra surprise places as the timings were managed properly. I was sitting in the front seat and i felt super safe with her driving. Thsi tour exceeded my expectations as we even got to see the northern lights in the best way because of taking Pascales advice. I can definetly recommend this tour to any one solo/couples/family with elders, children. Overall a lifetime experience for me.
I traveled alone because I wanted a full experience of Iceland by myself. I booked with Arctic Adventures and was very fortunate to have Adolf as our guide. He is very nice, funny, and knowledgeable about Iceland. He’s easy to get along with and always ensures the safety and enjoyment of his group. I highly recommend Arctic Adventures and if you get Adolf you’re in for a jolly ol’ time.
Svenni, our tour guide, made the trip truly unforgettable. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, which meant that we learned so much about the history and culture of this incredible country. Svenni even arranged a surprise trip to an Icelandic horse yard on the last day, which was a great way to end our stay. The trip was very well organised and the company was very professional - I would highly recommend!
This was my first ever trip to Iceland and with only a week, I was eager to see the most exciting spots in Iceland, and get a local perspective of the culture and history. I am usually as intrigued by the tourist sites as much as the stories that surround them. We had a wonderful local guide in Hjalti Bjornsson who shared so many amazing stories from his personal life, and depth of knowledge in geology and history. Super guy!
This review is to provide awareness to potential Iceland tourists of the safety hazards experienced on my recent tour with Arctic Adventures via its partner, TourRadar: My first time with Arctic Adventures (and TourRadar), and overall a nice adventure if it wasn't for the Ice Cave tour that seemed to be the company's last-minute, experimental feature add-on with amateur tour guides. I've traveled to many parts of the world, including Antarctica and developing countries and the way the ice cave tour was handled by this company was disappointing. While our 5-day tour this week had its highlights especially the glacial hike, there were a number of lowlights that raised the concern about Arctic Adventures/TourRadar's travel risk management program. Listed below were some of the safety hazards experienced by our group (as well as another group who went on the same day along with us). These did not include other smaller issues we encountered on this trip, e.g. the minibus breaking down at the beginning of the tour, and fellow peers being dropped off at the wrong hotels. 1) Failure of Arctic Adventure's staff and tour guides to assess the conditions of the glacial, ice cave site prior to transferring groups there. The bridges over heavy, rushing streams were unstable to tread on during the torrential downpour (this was closer to hurricane conditions rather than a drizzle). A member nearly fell off one of the unassisted narrow, wooden, makeshift bridge, and there were several of these bridges leading up to the cave. 2) Failure of the tour guides to lead our groups out to the cave and back. Our own group was somehow randomly separated into 3 groups without the guide even being aware, due to the severe weather conditions, which led people voluntarily turning around and finding their way back on their own to the parking lot. 3) Our guide did not fasten a seat belt during the drive to the ice cave and after, even explicitly asking him to do so for the safety of everyone including the driver himself. His English was minimal and barely conversant, so foreigners on the tour could not follow his words at all. There was barely any communication between this cave tour guide and the group, which was a red flag from the start. I ended up serving as the translator for most of the tour even though we had multiple tour guides. 4) The car windows were significantly foggy, so the driver had to wipe the windshield with his hat every few seconds, without slowing down the car. Water from muddy puddles also splashed onto the windshield, further obstructing the line of sight on the hilly, unpaved roads in our remote surroundings. 5) The minivan we were on was not in stellar condition. The driver's seat handle was torn off, the seat cushions appeared damaged, the sliding door had the insulation material broken off allowing water to splash into the car during the drive. 6) The driver of our full minivan, was speeding without a seat belt, while on the phone and driving in such terrible weather conditions, all of which led to a frightening experience for many of us on this tour. 7) We were consistently coerced by the guides to proceed into the ice cave despite clearly stating that we did not want to due to the unfamiliar terrain and severity of the conditions. It was no wonder many fled early, back to the vehicle to avoid further safety risks that were to come. Safety of all crew members and travelers should be a necessity and priority of travel tour companies. In this case, the ice cave tour should have been cancelled due to the conditions involved and/or moved to a different day. Cancelling a feature in the trip itinerary with clear reasons is a sign of company class and sophistication, not a sign of weakness. Tourists (and adventure seekers) will appreciate sincerity and transparency, and tour agencies that set the bar higher in customer care. --Jenny L
I had a very adventurous time during the 5 day tour because of the extreme weather changes. Really appreciated our guide Palme who was very flexible and changed up our itinerary a little depending on the weather so we could get the best experience possible. Disappointed that I was not able to see the Auroras at all during my stay, but I understand weather cannot be predicted, so will have to return and try again some day.
Our guide Trygve "Trigger" was courteous, professional and well spoken. He was very approachable and had interesting and entertaining things to say. It was very cool to see the black sand, the lava cave, Kirkjufell mountain. We stayed at quality hotels during our tour, and enjoyed excellent meals at our hotels/stops. I did the 5 DAY SNÆFELLSNES PENINSULA, SOUTH ICELAND, AND NORTHERN LIGHTS TOUR, which is the combo of a 2 day and 3 day tour. Trygve even changed up some stops to ones the group preferred more, such as a microbrewery stop were we tried some beer made with whale testes of all things ha ha, as well as a well established Icelandic horse farm with horses we got to pet and take selfies with. These were definitely highlights of the trip, and made our tour even more personal and special. We really enjoyed that as a group. Trygve did an excellent job coordinating our activities with the weather, even though at one point we drove back to Reykjavik with high km winds, his experienced driving made it no problem at all. Although the unpredictable weather in late Feb meant we didn't do the glacier hike because of high km winds, safety is most important, and we still got to check out the ice cave and Jökulsárlón lagoon, which is a definite must see in my opinion. We had roughly 40 minutes at stops, longer at notable ones, which went fast but were just enough time for great pictures. There were stops for bathroom breaks/ convenience stores, and I never had a bad meal at any of our stops. Loved the Viking restaurant! Overall, I had a fantastic experience with Arctic Adventures, I really recommend them! -Klair from Canada
