Itinerary
Day 1
1
We start with pick up from Reykjavík, either your hotel or your closest bus stop.
We head to the South and visit the powerful theatrics of Seljalandsfoss. Bring a raincoat and you'll be able to make the short hike behind the falls.
Tucked in a little gorge, the river Skógá tumbles down a 60 meter cliff before continuing down the landscape towards the Atlantic Ocean. Alongside the gorge is a staircase that can take you up to the shelf above the waterfall for stunning views.
We will hike an outlet glacier spawning from one of the largest glaciers in the country. After meeting out highly trained glacier guides and strapping on safety equipment you will hike on the ice for at least two hour. Our journey on ice continues as we will experience the blue ice cave in Skaftafell. Your guide will share with you his expertise about the ice caves, allowing you to truly appreciate this amazing natural phenomenon.
Day 2
2
Heading off day number 2 is Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, a 200m deep lagoon fed by Breiðarmerkurjökull, an outlet glacier of Europe's largest glacier. Enormous icebergs come from the glacier all year around so the lagoon is usually filled with ice that floats South. Try walking alongside the glacier lagoon enjoying the magnificent views.
On the other side of the road the ice bergs from Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon float into the Atlantic Ocean where they are quickly thrown back to shore by the tide and winds. This black sand beach is full of smaller ice rocks in all shapes and sizes, sparkling like diamonds in the daylight.
The Black Sand Beach of Reynisfjara where the Atlantic coastline presents massive waves hitting the unique basalt columns in the cliffs above the sand. Rock pillars in water and the cliffs of Dýrhóley are seen in the distance. This area of the South is also a paradise for bird lovers, as puffins and dozens of other unique species nest on top of these cliffs in the summertime from June to August.

This tour is the best one I’ve ever joined,Our tour guide Rocky is an energetic and funny guy and most importantly,a man you can 100% trust. The view of south coast was amazing ,the weather was perfect,a tour I’ll never forget.
We had such an amazing experience with Rocky! He was incredibly funny, friendly, and attentive throughout the whole tour, and he made the entire trip so enjoyable and memorable. What impressed us most was how much he genuinely cared about our experience. Even after his work had finished, he was still sending us updates and photos to let us know that the Northern Lights had appeared! That was completely beyond what we expected and really showed how dedicated and thoughtful he is. Thank you so much, Rocky, for taking such great care of us and for making our Iceland experience so special. We would 100% recommend him to anyone joining the tour!
I did this fantastic tour with John, who had a fantastic sense of humour and was able to drive through the windy and snowy roads of the South coast with great safety and skill. He decided to change the itinerary, since the first day's weather was horrible and the second day seemed much nicer. The glaciar hike and ice cave tour was pending, but he called them and they decided to change it to the second day's morning, which was such a great choice. We were able to experience Jokulsarlon lagoon and diamond beach on the first day, although it was very windy and rainy so it would have been better to see them the next day, but then it would have been way too packed with activities. We spent the night at guesthouse, located in a remote area, but unluckily we didn't get to see the lights that night. Dinner was reserved for the whole group in advance and it was delicious, although obviously expensive, as the rest of restaurants in Iceland. The guesthouse was clean and good, I had a great sleep. The following morning we did the awesome glacier hike, saw a small ice cave and then headed back to Reikiavik stopping at the Reynisfjara beach and the two waterfalls. The weather was shining and we had little to no wind, so we were very thankful to not have had to do this activities the previous day, as we wouldn't have been able to see nearly anything. The times allotted for each stop were reasonable to take some pictures and enjoy the place too. John took us back to Reikiavik safely and told us information along the way in both directions. He was very nice and we had a lovely dinner with him. Thank you so much!
Amazing experince! Max, our guide made a huge difference, considering the weather conditions. He’s very professional and during the tour, our guide took care that everyone felt good! Bring warm clothes!
Joined this tour with a friend for a few days getaway. Absolutely worth it. Our guide, Bran, was fantastic. He was both friendly and knowledgeable. We did a glacier hike, waterfall and saw black diamond beach in day one. Day two we saw the largest waterfall in Iceland, along with some iconic black volcanic beaches. For a short trip this was definitely the way to go.
Bran and Adam were absolute professionals during our two day tour! We had an excellent trip coupled with their positive personalities and could not have asked for a better experience jam packed into the short time period. 10/10 recommend and you won’t be disappointed; it was better than expected and would recommend to any and all! Tak!
What an amazing tour! Bran was a spectacular, knowledgeable, happy tour guide. He planned the days perfectly thinking about special moments to make the tour even more extraordinary. The guest house was also a wonderful surprise. It was beautifully decorated and a perfect location to see the northern lights out the front door of our apartment. I would use this tour company again and ask for Bran as well!
This is a really wonderful trip! Haffi, the guide, is super responsible and nice, bringing us to several secret view spots and guiding us meet with Northern light. He is the best guide I have ever met. This is truly a memorable trip in my life. Love Iceland, love Icelandic food and view! Super nice!
I feel so lucky to have had Haffi as our guide! We had amazing weather and an even better experience. Haffi is truly the best guide—he went above and beyond by taking us to several extra spots and providing such detailed, interesting explanations. Even his song lists were perfectly curated for the scenery, creating a wonderful atmosphere throughout the trip. He is incredibly responsible and even managed to catch the Northern Lights for us on the way back! Highly recommended!
Juliana is a truly wonderful woman. She shared so much with us on the bus ride. I believe she is a very brave person, and I wish her happiness and freedom in all her days. I will miss her. From Flora.
The breathtaking views and comfortable accommodation are simply stunning. Juliana is an excellent tourist guide and so attentive and nice. Hope we’ll see each other again!
really nice. Juliana is a well experienced and cute guide. She gave us lots of information all we need. I love the northern lights and glacier walk the most, they are wonderful. For the glacier walk, two guides are really kind and nice, they are talkative and willing to help us. I will share it with my friends!
The tour guide is friendly, knowledgeable and responsible. Convenient on the pickup and drop-off point. No additional admission fees required and most importantly, it is safe.
Iceland you’re beautiful and I’m lucky to have witnessed your beauty with my own eyes. I loved every second of the glacier hike, would definitely be one of the highlights in life I reminisce on. The view from a higher view, looking down as the glacier lake was breathtaking. Our tour guide for the two days trip - Branimir, made the trip lighthearted and relaxing. Tour guide was good with keeping the time, giving clear instructions regarding the duration of car rides to the next destination. He also gave detailed explanation and introduction to the places we visited, giving us insights and history of the places. Highly recommended!
Troll cancelled our tour the night before we were to leave, so we went with another company at the last minute. Many companies were touring the area, so no "weather" issues as Troll claimed. They did not give us a full refund-they withheld three percent. Would like to give them a rating of ZERO. Don't get ripped off. Use EastWest Tours instead.
I traveled with my family on the 2-day South Coast tour with Troll.is, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We were initially very excited because both days along the South Coast were sunny—rare and ideal conditions for photography. However, due to poor planning by the company or the driver, the tour failed to meet even basic expectations. One of the main highlights we were most looking forward to was the Blue Ice Cave. Sadly, because of poor timing, our photos turned out extremely dark and did not resemble a blue ice cave at all. This was a major letdown, especially since this experience was a key reason we booked the tour. On the second day, the day did not start early enough while conditions were still bright and sunny. Instead, we made unnecessary stops at a church and multiple restroom/snack stations. As a result, we ended up visiting the waterfalls—the second highlight we were most excited about—under cloudy and dull conditions, which greatly affected both the experience and photo opportunities. According to the itinerary, the waterfalls were supposed to be visited on Day 1, but this did not happen. Better planning would have made a huge difference. For example: Visit the waterfalls early on Day 1 when lighting is best Visit the glacier and Blue Ice Cave early on Day 2 I am not a professional trip planner, but even these basic adjustments would have significantly improved the experience. Additionally, the tour description mentioned Northern Lights hunting or sharing experiences, but this was never mentioned at all during the trip. As travelers from Asia, Iceland is extremely far and expensive for us to visit. This may be our only trip to this part of the world, and having such a poorly planned and mediocre experience greatly affected our overall impression of Iceland. This trip was not worth the money we paid, and I do not recommend Troll.is’s 2-day South Coast tour. The company may choose whether or not to improve, but continuing this way will only result in more dissatisfied customers like us.
The trip exceeded all my expectations. As I only had 2 days I was hoping to cover as many places as possible but was concerned that the daylight would be very short. While the itinerary covered a lot of stops I expected that they would all be very brief. How wrong I was, every moment of the day was used. Whether it was driving through such incredible ever changing scenery or tramping across the glacier in the twilight not a moment was wasted. My highlights were the diamonds on the beach, and the waves! Juliana was very knowledgeable of all things Icelandic, and kept up the element of suspense as the hours passed. This was the perfect introduction to Iceland and I will be returning both winter and summer.
The tour was exactly as described in the tour outline. We felt it was very well organized as everything flowed seamless. Our guide, Juliana led the tour with precision and humor. Would recommend if you want everything to be planned out for you so you can relax!
This trip was amazing and Juliana made it a great interactive experience. Pickup was so quick, the tour was infomative,. I 1000% recommend!
It was great, everything is really amazing. The tour, the price, the hotel, but big shout to our Guide Rocky, amazing playlist, amazing driver, always goes the extra mile. The prices is very reasonable. I think the amount of people in the group is quite fun and not too many. The landscape changes constantly so you would almost certainly never have an exact experience. Is Iceland what do you expect.
This was such a fun tour. 2-days only but packed in so much. The Glacier hike was the best…all the gear was provided, guide was excellent and the scenery felt like I was in a National Geographic documentary. Everything went smoothly, and the rest stops and restaurants were all excellent. I would rate the difficulty of this trip easy, but there are some uphill sections on the glacier hike. I will recommend this tour and company to friends and family.
We SUPER LOVE Alex!He was so nice and thoughtful to everyone! Most importantly he is so handsome and cute(i swear to god this is definitely not the main reason i gave 5 stars).Troll should really give him a salary raise!
5/5 Stars - The Perfect Guide! Our guide was exceptional. His professionalism and deep knowledge of the ice caves were evident throughout the tour. He was incredibly patient and attentive, ensuring everyone felt safe and included. Best of all, his great sense of humor made the adventure both educational and hilariously fun. Highly recommend him!
Everything was amazing , we got Zygy as our tour guide, his energy was everything! , always kept an eye on safety and the hotels, foods stops where great. Extra tip, the notes say take with you waterproof clothing, DOO SOOO. Extra , we even got to see northen lights from the hotel we stayed in Vik
Great trip! Glacier hike was the highlight. Glacier lagoon was also lovely. Thales was a great guide (with wonderful taste in music and excellent recommendations at literally every stop).
Nice trip, have seen wonderful view. Guide Isabella was very nice, solving us problems during trips and took us to the nice viewpoint of the waterfall.
Incredible 2-Day Ice Cave and Glacier Adventure I had the pleasure of going on the 2-day Ice Cave, South Coast, Glacier Hike, and Glacier Lagoon tour, and it was an unforgettable experience! From start to finish, this tour was well-organized, thrilling, and absolutely beautiful. On the first day, we explored the stunning ice caves – a surreal, almost otherworldly experience. Our guide, Max, was fantastic. He was not only knowledgeable and passionate about Iceland’s natural wonders, but he also made sure we felt safe and comfortable while navigating through the crystal-clear ice formations. Max's enthusiasm for the landscape was contagious, and he shared fascinating insights along the way. The hike was moderate but rewarding, and we were lucky enough to have great weather that made the colors and textures of the ice cave even more breathtaking. The second day focused on Iceland's South Coast, with visits to iconic sites like Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. These locations were just as stunning in person as they appear in photos, and we had plenty of time to take it all in. The highlight of the day was the Glacier Lagoon – a truly magical spot. The icebergs floating in the lagoon were absolutely mesmerizing, and we even got the chance to take a boat ride among them, which felt like something out of a dream. The tour was well-paced, and Max made sure we were comfortable and had all the gear we needed. He was friendly, professional, and made the experience even more enjoyable with his great sense of humor and personalized approach. We also had time to sample some local Icelandic cuisine, which was a great touch. If you're looking for an adventure that combines stunning landscapes, adrenaline, and the opportunity to see some of Iceland's most unique and spectacular features, this tour is a must. And with Max as your guide, you're in for an even better experience. Highly recommend
Everything is great. Fabtastic entertaining, unusual tur guide. Prepate to get wet. Wearing water proof attire as well as bringing some spare socks and clothes are advisable
Niiiiiice experience and Thoughtful arrangement for the spots. Luckily firstday there is great weather condition so our guide Max drive us directly to explore glacier and ice cave. Easy walk and wonderful experience! Second day it’s little cloudy but we still enjoy much the waterfall and black beach. 👍👍👍
First of all, let me say that I knew exactly what I wanted to see on the south coast. The only way to see it all is to do a two day trip. Our guide was Jon, and he picked us up one time in his comfy minibus. He gave us details throughout the trip and historical important facts that were helpful. I feel like we had enough time at each location to truly take it in and see everything. The guest house that we stayed at was more of a hostel type place, but it was fine. Great location, right on the beach. Now, what is extremely important for everybody to note is that the glacier hike is not easy! You need to be fit to be able to do this. The glacier that they took us to. We had about a mile and a half hike over Rocky surfaces just to get to the foot of the glacier to start the hike. I admit, I’m not in the most amazing shape, but this part truly kicked my butt! So if you are physically fit, then go for it! All of the sites were beautiful.
Really good, things are well arranged, tour guide Juliana always with nice smile and give help~~ The tour and the guide worths I would say. Also obsessed with the dramatic weather change😇😇
It was an amazing experience with the best guide: Elias!! He Introduced Iceland all along the way, the best guide ever!!!!!
This tour was a perfect way to experience some of the most beautiful places in Iceland. The glacier hike took us through a crevasse and into an ice cave where you can see layers of volcanic ash in between layers of ice. The guides allowed us to take our time and provided lots of interesting facts about the formations. Diamond beach is an absolute must and the basalt columns at black sand beach. The tour was made all the better by our phenomenal guide, Branimir. He kept us on time, kept us safe, made sure we were always comfortable and gave us great advice for making the most of each stop. Along the way he made sure to highlight old lava flows, glacial outlets, and lots of waterfalls while telling us all about this beautiful country. He even stopped to let us pet some horses. Best tour ever!
This was a great tour and i highly recommend it! Our tour guide Branimir was amazing, full of good advice and interesting information, he was very flexible and also took us places that were not on the itinerary but were really beautiful. We were also very lucky weatherwise, we had calm sunny weather on the glacier hike, bright sun on Diamond Beach and we also experienced gale-force winds on the Reynisfjara beach that matched the black sands and basalt columns. The tour was very well designed and although we drove a little over 400km each day, we never got bored, we had very well thought stops, we ate at nice places and the landmarks we saw were amazing. The glacier hike was one of the best things i did in my life, especially walking through the crevasses in the glacier. We did see a small ice cave, but the crevasses were the most amazing experience. The guide was nice and helpful and patient and the four hours of the hike went by very quickly and nothing was dangerous or strenuous. We spent the night at a guesthouse with comfortable rooms and really good food for dinner, and the location was wildly beautiful. We even saw the Northern lights -more muted than they look in pictures, but the forecast was really against us. Overall it was a great experience and i highly recommend this tour! It gives you a good idea about how southern Iceland is like, and it left us with amazing memories and pictures.
We really enjoyed the 2-days tour with Corina. Thank you a lot for the guidance, advices and the stories! :) Thanks also to Elena for the cool glaciar hike! ;) Andrea and Ines
Thanks Corina for the 2 days tour: you take care of us wonderfully, we loved your stories about iceland, the landmarks, the jokes and the secrets. Thanks for taking us to top places and for sharing your live for this amazing island! Thanks as well Elena for the tour over the glacier: once in a lifetime experience. Many thanks.
Alex is amazing, giving us the unbelievable great experience in iceland. He not only tell us about the view and history in iceland, but also gather people around to have a small talk and form a strong friendship.
This tour was fantastic. We got to see a huge amount of the Southern coast, multiple locations and a ton of photo ops. We also lucked into 2 days of sunshine in January so this may not be the normal experience. Our tour guide, Bronn from Serbia, was absolutely the best. Clear instructions on safety, schedule, food and photos. (And he brought my wife a piece of 🎂 cake on her big day. My only complaint is the communication / information provided by the tour company prior. The description said the glacier hike is easy. It is not if you aren't an experienced hiker / or use to walking long distances. The tour was over 5 miles, a lot of it up steep inclines and ice steps while wearing crampons. And you move at a fast pace. No water is provided or available at any point so be prepared. It was a fairly strenuous hike and I do 3 - 5 mile walks frequently. Our guide, Ellana was great. 2 thumbs up! Accommodations that night were simple but comfortable. Day 2 was much easiier. Stops along the coast at beaches, Vik, horses and waterfalls. Very beautiful and very enjoyable. We felt 1 base layer of insulation clothing with water resistant outer lair a jacket was more than warm enough for each day. All in all, a great experience but getting detailed info on stops, what to bring, food options or advice from the tour company prior to arriving Iceland was not possible even with several emails asking detailed questions. We were just told pack warm clothes and the schedule is on the site. It is not. The stops are listed, but a schedule would have been helpful in how we packed and what we made available in our carry pack. Again, guides and experiences - amazing. The companies descriptions and communication- poor.
Had the best experience with Troll. Our guide Stefan was very enthousiast and a good story teller. Thanks to him we could see the northern light even though we weren’t expecting to see it. He check the weather for us and bought us to a nice place after the end of the first day to witness our first northern light. It was amazing! Also, about the timing of the trip, everything was well organised and we had plenty of time to enjoy the different spots. The diamond beach and glacier lagoon were my favourite. Truly beautiful.
This two day expedition was amazing. Our driver Dave was punctual empathetic attentive and gave us lots of details and information on all the places we visited. He always had a warm running van waiting for us after our adventures. He was pleasant to talk to very approachable with any questions that we had.
This was an excellent trip. Julianna was an incredible tour guide who was very nice, patient, and always had a smile on her face. She helped make sure the trip was amazing. Within two days, we traveled across the south coast, stopping at several beautiful places along the way. The glacier hike in particular was a highlight of our tour, thanks to the fantastic expert guides there. Highly recommend this trip if you're into an adventure.
Loved this trip. Was able to see many sites in a relatively short time. Was especially nice during the winter since there is such limited light. Julianna was great, very responsive to individual needs, was very clear on timing and what to expect. The glacier hike was super impressive, a bigger hike than I had expected, sometimes a hike is more of a walk, but this was a spectacular hike! Would recommend this tour to anyone who doesn’t have a month to stay!
Juliana, our guide was fantastic! She was friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and fun. She made our visit. We were so lucky to have her as our fearless leader on the journey.
We had a wonderful 2-day tour with our kind and warm guide Iskren, he drove along the Iceland Route 1 to take us from one place to another and gave us some information about Vikings, Bobby Fischer and Aurora forecast etc. The dark and cloudy sky without Aurora didn't touch me, but the professional service from our guide Iskren impressed me most.
The trip is so unforgettable! Views are gorgeous and foods are great. Iskren is a knowledgeable guide and a reliable driver at the same time, and I’m really thankful that he drove back after we parted to return what we left on the vehicle. Definitely would recommend!
The guider is so nice! What a wonderful trip! I love this trip and I think the guider gave us one fantastic trip and he always helped us in the whole trip!
The two-day itinerary was very fulfilling. We saw different waterfalls, went to Black Beach, Diamond Beach, climbed glaciers, and there were also some extra stops. The scenery is really beautiful and healing. The tour guide and driver is Iskren, who is very friendly and responsible throughout the entire process. Overall I’m very satisfied, and this tour is recommended!
This tour was jam full of sights! Day 1 consisted of a lot of driving and then a fantastic glacier hike, which we all agree was one of the coolest things we’ve ever done! Day 2 included waterfalls, beaches, glaciers, scenery and more. Kuba was a TERRIFIC tour guide and a super nice guy in general! It was impressive to see what a skillful driver he was to safely navigate rain, sleet, snow and black ice. We really enjoyed getting to know him a little bit at the dinner we enjoyed at our overnight accommodation. He even made sure to keep the group updated on the forecast for the Northern Lights. Note - Make sure to bring plenty of snacks and drinks (or be prepared to purchase at one of the pit stops along the way) as the o oh meal that’s included is breakfast on Day 2
Great experience. Driver was helpful and specialized in driving and guiding. Glacier lagoon and diamond beach was beautiful
