Reviews
Excellent experience, our guide Ylias was very professional and attentive to our safety.
It was a magical experience! Our tour guide Norbert was extremely knowledgeable and quite the photographer too x
Eli was an amazing Ice-cave tour guide!! We had a little trouble with our vehicle, but Eli was very calm, kept us safe, and got us right back on the road to continue our amazing ice cave tour. A true Greek Viking! The views of the caves and glacier were amazing 😍
This review is specifically for the ice cave, Eli did an amazing job guiding us and tell us about the glacier and ice cave ! The ice cave was really cool
We had a very good experience. The guide, named Elias, was super nice and took very nice pictures for everyone.
We took a tour w Carlos on Aurora Hunters. A few pieces of advice while they grow the business/experience.... More content to entertain and educate the clients. More icelandic history, Stories or sagas, modern culture, climate, economy, etc... this was covered but very little. The drive is very long so the more content built into the tour the better... perhaps reserve 45 minutes for each category. Another suggestion would be to perhaps incorporate a fun quiz on each subject covered by the driver. This will get the customers more involved and will help “break the ice” Last suggestion would be to provide a full itinerary on stops along the way. We were confused as to which stops were next and how long it would take to get there. Having a said all that, Carlos was a great guide and was truly nice to get to know him. That part was great! All the stops along the way we’re also fantastic and we were extremely happy with our experience. Thanks Dragon!
We joined the 2-day south coast tour by Aurora Hunter. The schedule was well-planned according to the weather. We were able to see everything mentioned in the itinerary and our tour guide Thor even brought us to some amazing photo taking spots on our way back to Reykjavik. He was very funny and helpful. We had so much fun listening to his stories and local music playlist! Also, the breakfast included in the hotel was superb! Highly recommend this tour.
What can I say except this is one of the best tours to take in iceland! Our tour guide, Thor, was very knowledgable and made the tour fun for all. The sights are beautiful and your taken to places that not everyone would see. Highly recommend this tour!
We fully recommend this trip. Those two days were packed with activities and stunning views. Our guide and driver, Sjonni, was very skilled in driving in the always changing Icelandic weather. He was always on time, friendly and informative, adding a great musical selection to the experience.
Thor is seriously the best tour guide ever. He took us to all the locations listed and even many more extra spots. Very clear explanations about each spots and very friendly. Definitely a trip to remember. Super fun!!! One story to share here: Me and my friends got a bit clumsy as we accidentally got ourselves wet at the diamond beach. Thor was so nice to help us get back to the van immediately and gave us the new socks he bought at the souvenir shop to make sure we got ourselves dried and warm. The weather was indeed awful so we were actually a bit disappointed in the beginning but the good weather came when we visited the glacier lagoon and ice cave. We were lucky as the water drained out the day we visit the blue cave so we could get in. The ice cave was magnificent!!!! Once again thanks for such amazing aurora hunting adventure, Thor:D
Although the weather was windy and rainy, Thor (yeah!!!! we had Thor as our guide!!! to asgard!!lol) made the perfect tour agenda for us! Luck enough to see the northern lights, and visited the glacier cave under sunshine! Super crazy and insanely fun adventure. Hope to have a chance for a northern tour sometime. Thanks for the adventure to this alien land!
We chose the option '2 Day Winter Tour on a Budget' as it's a bit chaper and it was amazing. Out guide was a professional photographer and he knew a lot about the places we visited. We were very lucky as we visited in January and we had sunny days with blue sky, so all the places were even more magical. It's a must and I would highly recommend it.
I loved it. Our guide took us to all the to p locations and so many off the grid things. It was a lot of snow on the road, so I don't like driving myself, but it was good because thedriver was icelandic and very used to this. And I could also take a lot of pictures. Hotel was also very nice, with good restaurants.
I really enjoyed this tour, which packed in a lot of sights over two days. It was well organised and most importantly, I felt safe. The guide and driver, Sjonni, was a very competent and experienced driver in the snowy and icy conditions at the end of January, when I took the tour, and I really felt that we were in good hands. I have no complaints about the tour - it was great: we saw waterfalls, the beautiful black sand beach near Vik, and for me a highlight was the glacier lagoon and diamond beach, which were spectacular. The trip up the glacier to reach the ice cave was amazing - an experience like no other, and the ice cave itself was indeed blue, but rather small. The only thing I didn't like about the tour (at first) was some of the Icelandic music Sjonni played in the bus, but strangely enough, since I got home, I've been playing it a lot and really like it now - so it grows on you! Sjonni was an excellent, very knowledgeable guide and a great driver. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour with Sjonni. The only criticism I have is not of the tour but the booking company, which seems to have an inflexible booking policy. I booked the tour on the wrong day but when I asked for a refund straight after booking the tour, when I realised my mistake, they said I would lose money. This is stated in their cancellation policy, but I have had a better experience with another tour company when cancelling or re-arranging tours at short notice. Therefore I had a bad impression of the booking company. If you're booking a tour with this company, make sure you've got the right details and the right date before your book.
Wonderful tour from beginning to end. The transportation was comfortable, clean and perfect for viewing the amazing sights along the way between destinations. Every stop surpassed any expectation of beauty and interest. Sufficient time was allowed for experiencing each location and for taking lots and lots of photos. The overnight was at the Hotel Hofn; it had a fun, modern-designer feel. On site, we had a delicious dinner that evening and a well put together breakfast buffet in the morning. Thor was an excellent guide: prompt, knowledgeable, friendly and purposeful. He maximized every minute of our 2-day tour. He even created a personalized playlist for the return ride to Reykjavík.
Amazing 2 day tour to Ice cave and South coast Experience. Our tour guide Harp was very helpful and friendly throughout the journey with awesome taste in music 😉. A must see and do when visiting iceland, highly recommended.
The tour itself was one of the best ones I have had. Just as advertised everything lived up to expectations . Our Tour guide Harpa osk sigurdardottir ( we called her Harp) was simply amazing, friendly, cool and humble lady. She always made sure our safety came first regardless of what we did. She always gave us loads of information regarding the culture of Iceland and always had some kin of story about places we went to and the places we passed along the way. Overall the tour was made even better because of our lovely, helpful and cheerful guide Harp. Thank you guide to Iceland amd Harp for making this trip an amazing experience. I will definitely come back during summer next time.
The trip was amazing & carlos made sure of it. I’ll forever have the fond memory of iceland as a result. Strongly recommend!
Sights: you will see two waterfalls, black sand beach, and the whole south coast of Iceland. Sleep over in a tiny coastal fishing village with a delicious lobster menu at the warm and cozy hotel. At night you go looking for northern lights for a few hours, but you have to be lucky to catch them. Next day you swing by diamond beach and the iceberg lagoon, before doing the ice cave trek on Vatnajokull glacier. Bring waterproof and warm clothes. Bus: the bus was good and warm. It did not have USB chargers in the seats, nor built-in seat tables. It could also have had better accommodation for drying wet clothes and bigger overhead compartments. Guide: Our guide was Carlos, a lovely man who was easy going and flexible, and always with a smile on his face. Although he knew a lot about Iceland and its history, his story-telling abilities and technique need to be improved (fewer filler words and less colloquial "whatevers". Needs more passion and flow for the stories to be more attractive and interesting.) On the return trip he played great music from a playlist of classic rock/pop of the last 50 years. While i loved it, it may not be music for everyone, and i felt that the trip was at several points missing more mood- and setting-appropriate music like Icelandic artists or tunes. Time: 2 days is a lot with many hours in a small minibus. The highlight (ice cave) is rather short for such a long journey, though it's definitely worth it if you prepare well and know what to expect. We went when the days were still very short, so many of the hours in the bus were without daylight and without sights of the beautiful country.
My boyfriend and I just had the most magical experience on our 2-day South Coast and Ice Cave tour with the guide Norman. Weather conditions were perfect - despite some sporadic light rain on the first day - and we even managed to see some Northern Lights from our hotel. The tour was very well-organized, with many attractions perfectly scheduled. Norman was a very informative, entertaining, friendly and caring guide and driver. He was always very attentive to give us the best service, such as making stops outside the itinerary when people needed to get dry clothes or eat, or to show us reindeers on the way. He also called out everybody on their rooms to inform that we had Northern Lights outside! Norman’s playlists were also the BEST! Overall we had an awesome experience and would recommend the tour - with guide Norman- to anyone!
It was an amazing experience! Despite the bad weather on the first day, we managed to reach all the beautiful places on the second day We are really grateful to have a dedicated local guide Skuli to make our two days a worthwhile and compete one. With Skuli's expertise, We even managed to catch the northern light on the way back to the city to end our tour. Highly recommended!
We booked the two day ice cave tour for the end of november and it was absolutely amazing. The tour was well organized from the pick up until the drop off. Our tour guide Sjonni was awesome. He told us a lot stories and ibfornation about the land and the spots and plays really good music. We really had fun with him. He also showed us many extra spots because we were in time and the weather was so good. So we see an addional waterfall, a glacier, the lava field,... We really had perfect weather and could see the diamant beach and the glacier lagoon in the rising sun light. The ice cave tour was also very good organized and our guide Funar was fun, too. It is amazing, that every pair or small group has a moment alone in the cave for great pictures. In total the trip was amazing and we would highly recommend it.
We went to the 2 Day Ice Cave Tour and enjoyed most of our trip. The view was stunning and our tour guide accommodate our needs and very friendly. He even drop us off in our hotel at the end of the trip. The only reason we give it 4 star is that the hotel we stayed (Hotel Höfn) was not friendly to the tourist. They refused to let us borrow a fork and brushed us away rudely. Other than that we are definitely recommend this tour.
We did the 2 day South Coast and Ice Cave Tour with Sjonni as our guide through Aurora Hunters. It was our best experience in Iceland!! The views and all the stops were breathtaking. There just aren’t enough adjectives to describe the beauty of Iceland!! The guide can definitely make or break the experience and our guide, Sjonni, made it so fun and enjoyable! He picked great music to go along with many special moments and to get us all pumped up. He is very knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts. He made sure that everybody stayed safe and was very alert to the needs of the group. We are so grateful that he made it an experience that we will never forget!! Thank you Sjonni!! I would highly recommend this tour! Do it!
The tour was great! The only comment would be that our guide, Joey, did not really talk during the drive. My group previously went on the Golden Circle tour the day before and our guide was very informative, fully knowledgeable about history, culture and the life in Iceland, which she shared. It was a great learning experience and adventure of the trip itself. So I was expecting the guide to our South Iceland tour to do the same. But everything else in the 2-day adventure was very good!
Very interesting, and very nice group leader, would always do it again and recommend
2d group excursion and mini-bus with our guide David. David is Icelandic and speaks very good English. He has a lot of humor and a field experience of more than 10 years very appreciable. It was a pleasure to do this excursion with him: good job David! 😉 We were very lucky on these 2 days: very correct (positive) temperatures for a month of December and sunshine every day! Visits to natural sites were planned at the right time of day (a few hours of sunlight per day). We took full eyes and left with beautiful memories.
Besides the main sightseeing spots, they occasionally stop by photo spots. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I knew more English, but I think the instructions, explanations and organizer of the tour in the limited daylight were wonderful. The hotel I stayed in is small but very clean. The whole organisation was really good and the people were soo nice and they try their best to give you unforgettable moments... This local tour company called Aurora Hunters was also polite and very quick to exchange messages.
We booked the two day tour and it was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend. Rocky and the driver, whose name unfortunately I can't remember, were great at introducing us to their land and it's clear that they put a lot of passion into their work. They picked us up on time at the scheduled stop. They added stops that were not planned in the program, allowing us to discover even more places than expected. On the evening of the first day we came across a heavy snowfall, but thanks to the skill of the driver we had no discomfort. The second day the excursion to the ice caves was a magnificent experience... despite the cold... Finally congratulations to Rocky for the soundtrack of the trip... the right song for every moment of the trip! Thanks also for the helpful tips for the rest of our stay in Iceland
