Itinerary
Day 1
1
On the first day, you’ll depart from Reykjavík and drive along Route 1, passing charming small towns and soaking in the stunning Icelandic countryside. Along the way, you’ll pass the famous town of Hveragerði, known for its greenhouses and the geothermal “Hot River” in Reykjadalur, nestled in a rift valley between the Eurasian and North American continental plates.
The tour passes through Selfoss, the largest town and capital of South Iceland. You’ll see this lively hub as you continue your journey along the route.
You’ll get a close-up view of Seljalandsfoss, a stunning waterfall that drops 60 meters from the side of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano. This powerful cascade offers a unique and breathtaking experience for all visitors.
Gljufrabui is a hidden waterfall that many visitors overlook. We’ll guide you to this secret spot so you won’t miss its stunning beauty!
Don’t miss the chance to learn about Eyjafjallajökull’s massive 2010 eruption. It’s the event that brought Iceland worldwide attention!
Skógafoss is one of the world’s most iconic waterfalls, famously featured in “Game of Thrones.” Its south-facing location creates frequent rainbows from the mist of the 60-meter (197 feet) cascade. You can also climb to the top for stunning panoramic views, making it a must-see Icelandic landmark.
Sólheimajökull Glacier is an outlet of Mýrdalsjökull, one of Iceland’s largest glaciers. Experience the raw, stunning landscape and get up close to the glacier’s impressive ice cap.
From Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, you can spot the stunning stone sea arches of Dyrhólaey in the distance. This iconic natural formation adds to the breathtaking coastal scenery of the area.
Next, you’ll visit the world-famous Reynisfjara black sand beach, where striking basalt columns line the cliffs, powerful Atlantic waves crash against the volcanic shore, and the dramatic sea stacks of Reynisdrangar rise just offshore.
Day 2
2
On the second day, you’ll stop briefly in Vík Village. Take in stunning views of the black sand beach and the hills surrounding this small town.
The Eldhraun Lava Field is a vast, barren landscape covered in thick, vibrant moss that blankets ancient lava formations. This otherworldly terrain offers a striking contrast between the rugged volcanic rock and the soft greenery, creating a unique and beautiful scene.
Hofskirkja is the last turf church built in Iceland, dating back to the 19th century. Its thick turf roof blends seamlessly with the surrounding moss-covered burial mounds, creating a charming and historic setting.
Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon is a breathtaking, bucket-list destination featured in numerous Hollywood films. The tranquil, ever-changing scenery captivates visitors as wind and tides gently move the icebergs. You may also spot seals swimming among the ice or resting on nearby beaches.
Just a short walk from the Glacier Lagoon, you’ll find Diamond Beach, named for the countless sparkling fragments of colorful icebergs scattered across its black sand shore. These ice pieces are continuously shaped into stunning formations by the wind and waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
Last but definitely not least, your tour’s highlight is the unforgettable Blue Ice Cave expedition. You’ll start with a superjeep ride to these natural ice caves, formed deep within glaciers as fresh water freezes in Iceland’s plunging winter temperatures. Every year, new caves emerge as glaciers melt, refreeze, and reshape, creating stunning formations in vibrant shades of blue. Your expert local guides will lead you to the most breathtaking ice caves, giving you a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience—these caves may never look the same again. After exploring the caves, you’ll head back to Jökulsárlón before returning to Reykjavík, with a refreshing stop in Vík along the way.

Great guides, great tour. All very easy no issues
Amazing experience -first, Nice travel and it staff were so easy to communicate and amenable to helping us. Abbi, our guide, was humorous and kind. It was a great tour with many highlights and stops along the way. Hotel was remote. Glacier walk and cave were surreal.
We had an incredible time on our south coast tour with Torey! All the stops were amazing, with perfect time to have an explore and take some photos. The mini bus was comfortable, with WiFi and usb chargers. Torey kept us entertained and informed with facts about the places we were visiting and local information. I was impressed with the hotel for the overnight stay - the food was lovely, and it was rural so we were able to see the northern lights with the clear skies. Torey also chose great stops for lunch or snacks which worked really well!
Throey is a wonderful guided! Amazing trip!
Thorey was absolutely fantastic!
Booked with Nice travel. Bear was amazing guide. Very knowledgeable and fun. Great weather and blue canes amazing. Lots of great sights to see.
This trip was absolutely amazing and our guide, Þóra (sp?), was such a blast. We got to the ice caves first thing in the morning and had the cave to ourselves for the first few minutes, definitely enjoyed the early morning slot! Saw so much in only 2 days, would highly recommend.
Thoray was absolutely amazing!!! She is funny, charming, and full of information. This trip was full of beautiful sights and Thoray only added to the beauty. I loved all her fun facts and stories along the way. Plus all her food recommendations were 10/10. Nice travel will definitely get my business again! Thank you!!!!
Excellent tour! Thorre was the best and very knowledgeable and made the trip 100x more fun!
My daughter and I loved this tour. Our guide was brilliant - she has a perfect mix of humour and intelligence, providing information in an engaging manner. The sites were amazing and a hassle free way to experience them. Especially grateful for the early morning time to see ice caves as missed the crowds. Would recommend 100%. Thanks!
it was very exciting trip and perfect guide. thank you so much!
Overall it was very good, and the guide was awesome! Only one thing it would have been better if we have a longer visit to the ice cave.
Þorey is so fun and an amazing guide!! That was the best tour and so comfortable
Paweł made the tour fantastic. He adjusted our itinerary to ensure that we would have the best possible experience. And it was!
Addi was a terrific guide. He was helpful, well-organized, and always attentive to the group. I appreciated the planned stops for toilets and snacks, which kept the day comfortable. He also made great use of the good weather on day-one by adjusting the schedule so we could get photos at several day-two spots. Overall, a smooth, thoughtful, and enjoyable experience. I would recommend Addi to anyone looking to book this tour.
It was the best tour we had in Iceland. Super complete and great service. We went to many places to take photos, including the tours themselves. The guide, Bart, speaks great English, is very friendly, and knows a lot about each place. Highly recommended with the agency Nice to Travel.
Excellent service from Bartosh . He was so knowledgeable , patient, helpful and overall he managed to timing with accuracy. Highly recommend. Love from India and Dr. Saha and family 😍
Taking this tour was truly the best decision I could have made. I was lucky enough to see the waterfall and a rainbow at the same time, and I even got to see the aurora. Our guide, Aiddy, was really fun and shared a lot of interesting information with us.

Everything was amazing! I really enjoyed the tour, and our guide Atti was absolutely fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even more special. Highly recommend this tour!
eddie is a very good driver, shown us very good scenery
We had a great time and really enjoyed the tour. Special thanks to Atti for being a great guide!
Although we had to cover +400km ok a road trip, our guide Arr (?)) made the journey quite fun! First day was based on waterfalls and a visit to the beach (not lame!). Only downside was the hotel. Run down, very bar wifi and an elevador that didn’t work, the second day was astounding. Couldn’t believe the landscapes. Not for the faint of heart… you’ll have to walk long and uneven terrains!
Highlight of my Iceland trip :) our guide Bear is absolutely amazing and knowledgeable with great attention to details. The itinerary, accommodation, and transportation were all great. We had enough time to experience everything from waterfalls to ice cave, and Bear was able for shift around the schedule depending on the weather conditions - truly thankful for the thoughtfulness to make our trip memorable despite the rain and wind on the first day. He really made the best out of it and just a chill guy!
An amazing 2 days sampler of Iceland . Our guide nickname Bear is the highlight of the tour. He shared so much knowledge and pointed out things that I would have absolutely missed. He communicated very well. We experienced torrential rain, relentless wind gusts and also an amazing sunny clear day the next day. I don’t know how can you request guides or not, but Bear was so so so much better than my previous one day golden circle guide, which was also with Nice travel.
Stunning experiences with the best guide, Monica! We not only saw all the falls and spots mentioned in the tour but also so many little spots. My favorite was the turf church.
Absolutely amazing—a don’t miss tour!!! Spectacular
Nicetravel were prompt and very helpful with the booking, which I originally messed up. The trip was a full 2 days, with a long distance traveled. The locations visited ranged from interesting to stunning (glacier lagoon, glacier and canyon), all very worthwhile. The hotel was simple, practical and clean. Gulli, our guide, was a highly amusing and original Icelander (we also liked his musical taste). He had an informative take on many topics, and enjoyed answering difficult questions. The trip was fairly expensive, but very much worth the cost.
Birthday trip to Iceland for my daughter. We were referred by a family member who used them before. I’m glad we did because we had a great experience! Gulli was an excellent driver, tour guide, and host. He was very knowledgeable and made sure we got all the stops in. Breathtaking beautiful places that we visited the past couple days. We’re from Hawaii so this was definitely on our bucket list. The hotel we stayed at was so cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was included which was a plus. We booked the 3 day tour, but got transferred with another tour guide the 3rd day. If your planning on going to Iceland I definitely recommend this tour. Thank-you again Gulli!
The tour driver Gulli…. Very knowledgeable and full of Viking stories. Very apt for our trip. I had a good History lesson.
Guilli was a great tour guide, very energetic and knowledgable the whole time
MR GULLI - He is a Brilliant knowledge and engaging bus tour guide Felt safe
Gulli was our guide and he’s amazing with his storytelling during the tour ride. Thank you!
We were able to see so many sites along the south coast without feeling rushed. It was so convenient going with Anastasia as she kept us on track and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. The overnight accommodations were helpful as it would have been a long drive back and the overnight allowed us to accomplish more. Would highly recommend!!
Really enjoyed this two-day tour! Our guide Bartos was right on time for pick-up at 8:30 a.m. and was super friendly throughout the trip!! He shared lots of interesting things about Iceland along the way and always explained what we were seeing. We had amazing weather on the first day and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking! The place we stayed overnight was also good and comfortable. On the way back, Bart told us about some traditional Icelandic food (skyr, fish stew, lamb soup, arctic char…) and even stopped to take us for ice cream. I was travelling solo and had a really great time. I felt comfortable the whole trip and enjoyed every part of it. Definitely a memorable experience and I’d happily recommend it!
The best guide i’d ever seen. I recommend you!
Monica from nice travel was great, we saw every attraction from tour description, she made extra stops to show additional sights, did not rush thru, was very friendly and accommodating
We had a fantastic time and saw a wide range of sites. We loved our tour guide Addi, who made the whole trip fun and easy for us. He was very knowledgeable and was able to make adjustments to the trip schedule to make sure we had the best time possible. Would strongly recommend
This was my first ever guided tour, and Thorey set the bar extremely high. 10/10 would recommend! - Thorey was a kind, efficient, and knowledgeable guide. She provided a smooth and safe ride throughout the entire coastal ride. She would give entertaining explanations of the various stops and sights as we were driving by or visiting. She also provided tips for our travel experience. These included dish recommendations at the restaurants we visited, when and where to some snacks for the road, and also helpful tips for having a comfortable road trip. - Based on the itinerary, there are only a few locations listed. However, Thorey was able to fit in a lot more pit stops and opportunities for us to stretch our legs at amazing views! - I was never uncomfortable during this trip. Plenty of bathroom breaks and time to explore was provided. - The hotel was clean, quaint, and had amazing food! - The excursions were a great time and SO beautiful. I opted to do the boat tour and glacier hike, both of which were incredibly grand and awesome. - The staff at all partner excursions were super helpful and provided all necessary instructions for a safe and fun time!
We flew IcelandAir for our trip to Central Europe so decided to do a quick 3 night stopover in Iceland. To make the most of our short time here, we decided to book this tour through Get Your Guide so we wouldn’t have to worry about car rental/road conditions and booking separate experiences. We are SO glad we chose this tour!! Our tour guide, Thorey, is a native Icelander and provided a great balance of information and context while also providing quiet times for rest and to enjoy the scenic views during the ride. The hotel they booked for us (Hótel Smyrlabjörg) was clean, cozy, and quiet with water views in the distance. The breakfast buffet (only meal included in the tour price) was delicious. The food at the places we stopped for lunch and dinner were tasty and Thorey had helpful recommendations for what to eat at each place. Just be prepared for Iceland prices :) We chose to add on the glacier hike and glacier lagoon boat ride to our tour, and we are happy we did both. Thorey took us to more stops than what was listed on the itinerary so we got to see so many incredible and varied views of Iceland. On our way back, she even made a special stop at a cliffside to see puffins!! We highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore and experience Iceland’s south coast. We thought it was a great value for what we paid, and for the convenience of not having to drive and plan.
This really was the perfect trip and ended our longer Nordic trip on a high note. Thorey was amazing and hilarious. Everying was on time and ran flawlessly. The pacing was perfect and the accommodations were very comfortable. Just when we thought it couldn't get any more beautiful, the next stop was even better! We even got to see some Puffins, which we didnt expect!
We had an amazing time exploring the South coast of Iceland with Thorey and the group! The scenery was beautiful, the accommodations were comfortable, and our guide was warm, knowledgeable, and funny. We would recommend this experience to others!
Filip was an amazing guide. Lots of information about each area and a few bonus points. Kept well to the schedule and was very patient with everyone. Overall an awesome experience.
I had an incredible trip exploring the South Coast of Iceland with Filip. He was not only an excellent guide but also a great driver. He shared lots of interesting information, took us to amazing places, and made the whole experience enjoyable and memorable. I highly recommend Filip to anyone visiting Iceland!
Filip was a joy to travel with. He put so much heart and spirit into his profession! We learned, we laughed and were comfortable in his presence. We were in expert hands!
Awesome and entertaining trip showcasing a little of what’s on offer in Iceland. The time at each location was perfect, Filip got us admitted to each location quickly and he made the bus ride a great experience with the perfect amount of information, good tunes and humour. The small group of 19 was a good experience, and I Couldn’t recommend this fun day enough.
Excellent experience, we loved it and Phillip contributed to it. We will definitely recommend it to our friends in the USA who are interested in coming to visit Iceland!
What an incredible two days! Bear was an absolutely outstanding tour guide — a fantastic driver, a trained geologist, and a natural storyteller. He brought Iceland to life through his knowledge of every mountain, glacier, lake, lagoon, and beach we passed, and kept us endlessly entertained with local lore: the puffins of the Westman Islands, his love of the glaciers, the “trash lagoon” where decades of buried waste erupted from a volcano, the trolls, the couple who met a wish-granting elf. The folklore alone was worth the trip. What really set Bear apart was how thoughtfully he approached the tour. He flipped the standard itinerary so we ended at Seljalandsfoss — a brilliant call, since finishing with that spectacular waterfall meant we ended on a high note, and anyone who got wet didn’t have to spend the rest of the day uncomfortable (most tours make it their first stop). He also guided us on the best way to experience each location — for example, visiting Gljúfrabúi before going behind Seljalandsfoss, so we stayed dry long enough to catch the rainbow shot first. We covered so much ground: Skógafoss, the glacier lagoon (where we spotted a seal!), Diamond Beach, the Justin Bieber canyon, and the lava fields. At Diamond Beach, Bear even showed us how to frame a shot using the ice — a small touch that made a big difference. To top it all off, we had glorious sunshine the entire time, which made everything even more magical. We’ve been on many tours, and Bear is genuinely one of the best guides we’ve ever had. I’ll be recommending him to everyone I know who visits Iceland — and telling them to request him by name.
Really enjoyed the tour. Saw plenty of sights. The tour guide Anastasia was friendly and very knowledgable about all things Iceland!
