Don’t stay at this hotel. Room is typical European room. Small and clean. There is a rooftop bar and hostel on same block. Noise kept us up until 2:00 am and then with sunrise at 3:00 am birds flocked to the park across the street and were very noisy. I’ve stayed at the Marriott on Times Square and would have expected Marriott to have great insulation. Oh wait, it isn’t a Marriott property even thought I booked through them. Elite status means nothing. No free anything or late checkouts. I guess Marriott is turning into Expedia only Marriott points are not as valuable. No coffee or wash clothes but they did have condoms in the room to be purchased. If you have a car, they have six spots for the entire hotel and you prepay with no refund.

We had the most fabulous time at this hotel. The staff were outstanding. They bent over backwards to be friendly and offer service at every turn. Our room was very comfortable, but yes, the bathroom is open format. The breakfast is for a fee, and offered lots of cold options. The young lady who worked the breakfast was so organized refilling items quickly. The location was perfect. We could walk anywhere around Reykjavik. Up to the church or down to the waterfront. Each is maybe 10 minutes. But it was truly the staff who made a difference. They genuinely cared about each visitor, greeting us with smiles and enthusiasm!! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!!!
This hotel is a basic hotel dressed up (and priced) as a premium hotel. If it were cheaper or had a lower rating I’d think it’s totally fine—the rooms are clean, the location is very convenient, the aesthetic is nice. But that’s basically it. I am not a high maintenance guest but for a hotel at these rates I expect to get some minimal level of service. The front desk was polite enough when someone was there. But I called multiple times and it rang with no answer. The elevator was down, no one said anything, and no one even offered to help with my luggage. Breakfast was not included but looked underwhelming anyway. I stayed for 2 nights and was gone for most of the second day but my room was not serviced even once while I was there. All the little amenities in the room that are normally free even at budget hotels cost money. I realize this is not Marriott owned but I have stayed in Design Hotels in other cities and their service is usually excellent. This was really atrocious value for money.
First of all you should know that this is not a family hotel. There is zero privacy in the bathroom of the room. I wouldn't even stay here as a couple. The room is very modern and there is no separation between the room and the shower and bathroom area. No shower door. It's all glass. The toilet is a glass stall. There is zero privacy. No one wants to see or hear people doing bathroom business. I wish hotels would stop making rooms this way. The sink is odd, it reminded me of a rolling cart and placed oddly. Our room had a great view of the water, mountains and park. However, on a Saturday night it is very loud outside the hotel. People congregating in the park all hours. Windows can't be left open because it's SO loud. Room is stifling hot. Even with heat on lowest setting. The robes and slippers were nice. We did enjoy the basement Jacuzzi. Hallways are dark. Staircases are dark. My daughter tripped going down. Safety hazard for sure. I wouldn't stay here again to be honest.
Lovely overall experience. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The general hotel design is beautiful and modern and the rooms are cozy and very clean, with comfortable beds and modern showers. My only point here would be that the rooms might need a bit of refreshing (like a new paint for the walls for example). However, wonderful overall stay and delicious breakfast. Would definitely come back ❤️
