Great Champagne tour. Especially liked the small family houses. Our guide Eve was well informed and simply lovely. We were also fortunate that there was only two other people with us who we had a wonderful time with. Nice that we were able to see the church where Dom Perignon was buried as it was just being closed for a few years for renovations.
My cousin and I had an absolute blast! With limited time in Champagne, this tour gave us an incredible experience—from stunning views and fascinating history to a perfect mix of family-run wineries and iconic houses like Veuve Clicquot. Our guide, Eva, was phenomenal! Her kindness and expertise made the day truly special. The three-course lunch with wine tastings was another highlight. The tour description simply doesn’t do this experience justice! I was genuinely sad this tour ended.
A fabulous day out with our wonderful guide Emily. She was really knowledgeable and passionate about the champagne region. We felt completely looked after from start to finish. Would highly recommend this trip.
We had such a fun day. Our guide Anne was exceptional and had great knowledge of the area as well as all things Champagne! Anne took great care of looking after us in every way. It was a delight to visit the Champagne houses and not only learn more but experience more of the process of developing such amazing Champagne’s. The food provided was also excellent, couldn’t fault it.
Veuve was a wonderful experience to tour and what an incredible history! We also appreciated touring a family run champagne producer, which was so tasty. Definitely recommend booking!
It was a wonderful tour and Susan our guide and driver was very informative. Lunch was very nice and just the right amount of time. Only thing I would suggest is for the amount you pay, the tour company should provide bottle water, as we were feeling dehydrated by the end of the day.
Thomas was amazing! The day was well paced, not rushed. We had a great time meeting other travelers as well. Lunch was the highlight! Highly recommend.
Well worth the money . A range of experiences tastings/ food . We learned so much about champagne. We were a small group of 8 and had so many laughs and fun along the way !
Excellent tour starting at Vouve Cliquot. Zoe, our guide, was outstanding. The champagnes we tasted were all quite good and the lunch with pairing was also outstanding.
Excellent guide, comfortable auto, wonderful history, and experiences at Champagne Houses were great….
This trip was a birthday present for a very good friend and this tour was the highlight. We were met by our guide Jerome in Epernay where we were staying and taken to a comfortable mini bus. There were four in our party and we were joined by two people from Norway in Reims before visiting Verve Cliquot. This is a fantastic tourist experience as we wandered through the chalk caves and learned the history of this champagne before tasting 4 different vintages. From there on to champagne Collard-Milesi for lunch, a tour and more wine. This was followed by a trip to Don Perpignan’s burial site before a final stop at champagne de Vignerons for a further tour and 4 more champagne tastings. Finally Jerome dropped us back at Epernay. This is an expensive tour but worth every penny. It fills a whole day (0830-1700) and is supplemented by Jerome’s wonderful knowledge and excellent English. If you have the chance - do it!
Suzanne was superb! She made every minute of the tour extremely memorable, informative and fun. Her depth of knowledge is exceptional and her English is fantastic though she grew up in the Champagne region! Also the pace in which she organized stops, allowed time to take photos and shop, and to finish our tastings and meal were much appreciated, yet the tour ran exactly on time. We got some excellent group photos out of it as well. We’ll recommend this tour to all of our friends who visit Paris or the Champagne region. They time the tours to align with the train schedule from Paris which is convenient.
Chloe made our full day tour of 3 champagne houses very delightful. We saw the large producers and small producers. We had a relaxing lunch at one of the houses. Chloe did a great job of explaining the champagne process and the region.
The day was everything I had hoped for. everything was wonderful. Tour guide Suzzane was lovely and knowledgeable ( Local Lady). places we visited were beautiful. Highly recommended, do it!
Wonderful champagne experience, starting at the House of Veuve Clicquot, then out into surrounding countryside for a delicious lunch, more champagne tastings and finally to a small family run winery with plenty of opportunities to sample more and buy. Our driver/guide Marcain was excellent, knowledgeable and great company!
The experience was outstanding. The extensive range of prestigious Champagne houses, particularly the Veuve Clicquot tour, was exceptional. Thomas demonstrated extensive knowledge and expertise as our tour guide throughout the day. The lunch with paired champagnes was an unforgettable experience.
It was an absolutely delightful day. Very well curated by Thomas. Got to see the world renowned Veuve to a couple small intimate cellars. Highly recommended. Oh, did I forget… BUBBLES 🫧. Cheers 🥂
Excellent experience in every way! Fabulous & varied Champagne Houses - Veuve Cliquot tour was excellent. The car was comfortable. Our guide, Anne was exceptional - friendly & very knowledgeable about wine and French history. A wonderful day!
We have now done three tours through the Champagne region, which is probably one more than strictly necessary (Alicia would say definitively one more). That context matters: we came in with high expectations and a low tolerance for filler. Our guide Chloe knew her material, but leaned too hard on a brand of humor built around fake threats and provocative jokes. It got a laugh or two early on and landed with a thud by hour four. Veuve Clicquot was the whole reason we booked this tour, and the caves alone justify the visit. They are vast, ancient, and quietly spectacular. No access to production, but the story of the widow Clicquot herself is genuinely fascinating, and the tasting stepped up with two 2015 vintages: a blanc and a rosé. Vintage Champagne is the exception rather than the rule, and both were lovely. Le Clos Courbier fed us well enough. Hummus and cheese pastries to open, a pastry-wrapped meatloaf-style main, bread and cheese, cream pastry to finish. Comfortable and convivial, without anything that will haunt your memory. Hautvillers is worth seeing once. We had already seen it. The church where Dom Pérignon is buried is atmospheric and historically interesting, but it doesn’t improve with repetition. P. Lancelot-Roger closed the day, which meant a third walkthrough of the Champagne production process in a single afternoon. By this point the riddling racks held no mysteries for anyone in our group. Skip the lecture, go straight to the tasting: their Grand Cru Brut Nature was the best glass of the day, and at €29 a bottle it was a genuine find. We bought one. Two things the operator should fix. First, no water anywhere: not on the bus, not during tastings. On a day structured around drinking, this is a real oversight. Second, our previous tours in Bourgogne always started with croissants. It sounds trivial, but those small gestures are exactly what separate a good tour from a memorable one. This one did not clear that bar. Solid, honest, and worth booking if Champagne is new to you. If you have done this before, go in with calibrated expectations.
Although this was one of the more expensive tours it was very good value We were a party of 7 so they picked us up from our hotel Thomas was our guide who was amazing so much knowledge not just on the champagne but on all the places we went to visit We all decided our favourite champagne house was the family run one P. Lancelot-Royer
The veuve tour was our first stop in the morning for us and was extremely well done (by veuve rep). From here we stopped in abbey to see where Dom P was laid and learned the history from our tour guide. Lunch was next up and could not have been better. All homemade French cuisine pared with 2 champagnes of the local house and a Pinot noir. Followed by coffee of course and an impromptu “shoot the cork in the bucket game”. We then went for pics and an incredible view of the Marne river. Next up was a visit to a local champagne house followed by a tasting (we liked hearing their story!). Alas, back to departure point. Def recommend!
This was an excellent tour! It was educational and also enjoyable. Lunch and tastings were generous!
Highly recommend this tour! We met at the train station in Reims right on time and our tour guide Thomas was excellent. We first headed to Veuve Cliquot and had an amazing tour there. Then we headed to a smaller champagne producer where we had a fabulous tour and delicious lunch including champagne, wine & a local Liquor. Stopped to see where the tomb of Dom Perignon is in a small church. Then on to another small champagne producer for another tasting. It was a Mercedes minivan that fit our small group of eight very comfortably. We were then dropped back off to the train station in Reims. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and his English was great. Wonderful tour with this company A La Francaise!
A good overview of Epernay, with the focus on Veuve Clicquot, includes small Champagne wineries, lunch and close views of vineyards.
This was a great tour. They were harvesting grapes and they made some stops so we could get out and watch the process. Love our guide. Lunch was delicious and tasting wine with the food made it all come together. Wonderful day!
This was my birthday present and it did not disappoint!! What a fantastic experience! Jerome our guide from A La Francaise Tours is the BEST! Everything was perfect! We started at Veuve Clicquot, then headed to a smaller champagne house for more tasting and lunch. We then visited the church location where Dom Perignon is buried and learned so much!! (Like he wasn't a winemaker 😅) We were able to take beautiful photos from the picturesque hillside view! We then toured what we considered "saving the best for last"--- a small family owned champagne house P. Lancelot-Royer where a husband, his wife (Marie)and brother-in-law are managing the business to take over from the parents. It was so beautiful to see the chalk caves that they built below their home. Their hospitality was phenomenal and their champagne is better than some of the bigger production houses. Thank you Marie for sharing with us! Thank you Jerome for intruding us! We're so glad we shipped two cases home. Don't miss this one folks! You'll certainly enjoy it!
Etienne was great. He explained so much throughout the day. The places we visited were perfect. Veuve was cool but the smaller wineries were my favorite. Got to see grapes being harvested. Would recommend!
Etienne, our driver/guide was as enthusiastic as he was knowledgable and showed us around the highlights of the region with excellent communication and humour. We visited the giant Veuve Clicquot first, then the smaller Champagne Collery where we had a delightful, guided, wine paired 4 course lunch before visiting the vineyards around Hautvillers to see the grapes being harvested and finally finishing with a tour and tasting at the amazing family run Champagne Salmon. The smaller the Champagne house the more intimate and informative the tour became. Etienne was cheerful and informative the whole time and was flexible with the route to include extra points of interest. We really appreciated him dropping us off nearer our accommodations than he had collected us from, which made taking home all the champagne we had bought much easier! We wish we had more days to spend in the region and exercise our new found knowledge!
We had a brilliant day, our guide Thomas was great. We enjoyed seeing the different Champagne houses and the lunch was excellent!
Thomas was extremely knowledgeable about champagne and French history. Extremely informative and kind.
A carefully thought out tour. Highly recommended. Our host Martin was fabulous. Lunch and the other champagne houses were superb
The pick up location in Reims is very convenient. The transport vans are clean and well maintained. The tour guide was amazing.
Jerome was an extremely friendly and insightful host for the day. We learned a lot about the history of the region and champagne making process. Veuve Clicquot was a special house to visit. Well worth it.
Tomas was a great guide and a very good driver! We enjoyed all His information and really loved the places we saw and experienced.
This was one of the best excursions we have ever taken, and it's well worth the price. Our guide, Jerome, was terrific. The morning was spent at Veuve Clicquot in Reims, and that was a great experience learning the history of Veuve Clicqout and the contributions Madame Clicquot made to the science of modern champagne production. We also sampled four different Veuve products, and they were healthy pours. The rest of the afternoon was spent touring some other vineyards in the Champagne region, an excellent lunch (with three more varies of champagne), a stop at Dom Perignon's grave, and a final stop and tasting at a small champagne producer (if you consider 25,000 bottles a year small). The champagne they produce is tres bon. It was a long day, as we didn't return to Rens until after six, but every minute was fun.
The Veuve Clicquot tour was amazing! It was also nice to see the smaller production Champagne houses within the same tour. Lunch was great and our guide was wonderful!
We had a wonderful day with 3 other couples and Anne. We enjoyed touring 3 different champagne houses and loved the variety. Anne is true expert and shared generously all day her knowledge and hospitality. We loved this!
Great experience, the tour guide Xavier was amazing and well knowledgeable person about the area …personable and friendly that shows the area and the region and at the end of the tour we learned about the process and elaboration of champagne
Etienne was a fabulous tour guide! We learned so much about champagne, vineyards, topography, and history. It was a lovely day, couldn’t have been better. We stopped at several champagne houses and the lunch was superb. I would recommend both the tour and Etienne whole heartedly.
Informative and well organized tour, great mix of big and small producers, guided by an incredibly well informed guide (Susanne) who provided a lot of insight. Excellent lunch location and great visit to a family business (Lancelot-Royer). An excellent way to learn and discover champagne.
Excellent value for money tour which covered all you need to know about the champagne area. Fantastic lunch and generous tastings of champagne plus other goodies. Martin was excellent in his knowledge and looked after us very well.
Fantastic day all around. Highly recommend to anyone. Our driver Martin was terrific. He was so informative and kind.
Wonderful tours of large, medium and small champagne houses with a nice lunch. Ann did a very good job explaining the region and the champagne making process. Recommend this tour.
A full day in the Champagne region that you won’t forget. It’s great to visit different places, explore champagne producers, and at the same time get a sense of the area’s rich history.
We have used TripAdvisor both for reviews and as a conduit to Viator. After this experience we are considering ending our relationship with TripAdvisor completely. We scheduled this tour several months ago and paid in advance to make sure we had a place. We also scheduled train tickets from Paris to coincide with the tour. When we landed in Paris we received a text telling us that the company could not honor the date two days away but would offer the tour a day later. We checked and there was no train availability the following day. The vendor did offer us a refund which came immediately. Fortunately we are experienced travelers and traveled to Reims on our own. Once we arrived we made bookings on our own for about 20% of the cost of the tour. We travel a lot and find an 80% markup to be outrageous! Further we did notify TripAdvisor of our concern over this cancellation 2 days ago when we requested a refund but got no response.
Excellent explanation of champagne making process. Great variety of tasting, tour of area and our guide Anne was outstanding!
Informative, well organised and exceeded our expectations for a champagne experience!! Our guide Susan was brilliant!!! A la Francais tours and experiences have great contacts and arranged a great day for us.
The smaller champagne houses with the personal touch and output guide Timothy was exceptional. Arrived at the train station and didn’t have to worry about another thing. Amazing champagne lunch and the history about the area and vineyards was wonderful.
I hate that I don’t remember our tour guide’s name! Ugh! But she was great. Very knowledgeable and the choices for tours were great. Champagne has its own history. We had a great time.
