The tour is absolutely worthwhile. I was so lucky to connect with.Carolina as my guide. The drive up there is incredible even though it got a little bit misty as we got toward the top. It rained on and off throughout the day, but it didn’t stop us from doing a short hike near the pools. And since it was just she and I besides the driver. She joined me in every activity and the pools and was incredible company. What a beautiful soul and so passionate about sharing her knowledge about the vegetation and scenic areas and she was super knowledgeable about the local history. I learned so much. In addition, got to soak in the thermal pools for an extended period of time. She was a trooper and joined me for everything and we had a great traditional lunch meal too. She managed our time well and provided a lot of flexibility

The Papallacta Hot Springs are just a few hours from the city of Quito. On our tour you can enjoy a full day of relaxation. The day begins with a visit to the lookout of the Papallacta Lagoon where you can admire the beautiful landscape and feel the cold of the moor, then continuing towards the tourist complex: “Termas de Papallacta” Spa. First, we will make a short but pleasant walk along the path “La Isla” to learn a little more about the flora and fauna of the place to later have some free-time to relax in the magical hot springs of the spa. At this time, you could also have your own lunch break, and then continue a day of relaxation until you return to Quito.

We had amazing day, small group of three to see Pappallacta. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide and driver, Pamela and Byron were amazing and very welcoming. It’s clear that Pamela loves her work as a tour guide and her joy in spending the day showing us her country was such a nice way to experience things. We did this tour the day after arriving in Equador and highly recommend, it’s a good way to relax after long travel days. And don’t skip the massages, it’s worth it!
We did this your on our first day after a long flight to relax a little. We did a small walk first along a river then had a relaxing two and a bit hours in the pools. There were many pools to choose from and go between, just a relaxing experience all round. Pamela was our guide and she was fantastic! She really made the experience for us!
Spending Christmas with our guide Pamela was the light of our trip. The tour had lots of history and information about Ecuador and Quito specifically, and included lots of naturalizing before the baths. Papallacta was beautiful, restful, and quite clean. They have towels for rent and swim caps for sale. After we went to a local restaurant which had delicious local food. Again, the star of the show was Pamela- she was friendly, knowledgeable, and took excellent care of our group.
It's the most beautiful place. In all of my travels, I have never been to a place so peaceful, breathtaking, and relaxing. To step out of the room right into the hot springs is like a dream. The views are just picturesque. The resort is wonderful, the food was fantastic and it just melts all the stress.
What a great relaxing tour! You start off with a really nice walk in the woods and next to the river, birdwatching, trout watching, rabbits… then you just enjoy and relax in this amazing thermal baths. 100% worth it after a full day excursion the day before. Thanks to our guide Ernesto who helped us swing and identifying all sort of birds!
Irene was our guide. Very knowledgeable and engaging. Hot springs were fun!! the combination of weather (cold) and hot pools were great! Recommended spot!
The entire hot springs experience was wonderful, even in the rain! Irene was our tour guide and Julio was our driver and they both were the best. Julio got us up and down the mountain safely, and Irene was friendly, knowledgeable and competent. She informed us about the volcanoes and the hot springs and made everyone feel welcome. She recommended a great lunch where we shared good food and conversation about your country. Irene is a great ambassador for Ecuador. She deserves a raise!
It was a wonderful experience. We were picked up at our hostel at the agreed time. Carlos contacted us and told us with which car he would arrive. The ride to the thermal was a scenic experience. Carlos gave us information about Ecuador and Quito, and he answered all our questions. We had a great time.
excellent guide Irene was amazing This was an excellent tour a must for people visiting Quito area. please go
The hot springs was beautiful, clean with excellent facilities. Spa services were really enjoyable. The bus ride from Quito was enjoyable due to the tour guide Irene, who shared very interesting details about Quito and surrounding area.
A lovely few hours to relax at the end of a mammouth trip. Carlos was mine and another travellers guide and picked us up in the car navigating through the Quito traffic and roads to palpallachata which is about 60 to 90mins away. Opted out of the hike as it was a bit cold and feeling the alltitude. Decided to upgrade to the spa rather than the public pools and had a massage. You can use the public pools but you will have to walk between them if you want too. Stopped by the lake on the way home for a few minutes.
We had a great trip! The car ride to Papallacta was informative and we learned so much about Ecuador! We got a chance to have a few photo stops as well! The experiences in Papallacta was soooo beautiful, and I’d highly recommend the private spa pools after trying both! Our guide was kind and flexible! The tour only had our little group, and the tour guide was great about adding in little pieces to the trip based on what we liked! My mom owns a chocolate company, and so he added a few little stops to some popular chocolate companies in Ecuador! He also made a stop on the way home for my partner to grab some of his favorite food in a town we were passing through! Truly, this company wants you to have the best experience, and they put in maximum effort! I couldn’t recommend this company enough!
My cousins were looking to get to Papallacta, and Quito Tour Bus took us there swiftly, but with lots of interesting information and a great stop to view the volcano Antisana. The hot spring waters were great too, and the hike afterwards was leisurely and beautiful. Many thanks to our guide Irene and driver Ivan!
We had the pleasure of going to the Aguas Termales de Papallacta. On our way we had an amazing tour guide. Mauro is amazingly smart! He knows so much about Ecuadorian food, traditions, floral and fauna, and folklore. We learned so much on our trajectory towards the thermal waters. Once we arrived we got to relax in the thermal pools. We even challenged ourselves and went into the cold pool. It was such a nice and relaxing day and got to learn a lot more about Ecuador! Definitely recommend booking and ask for Mauro. Thank you Mauro and Jaime (our driver) for a wonderful day!
I enjoyed such a relaxing day with Magus! It was so amazing to connect with her while enjoying a nature walk, hot springs, lunch & drive through the gorgeous landscape. Magus was able to answer many of my curiosities & enlighten me on Ecuadorian culture. My life is truly changed forever & my heart will always be filled with joy when I remember my day of relaxation in Ecuador. Thank you for taking photos of me!
This tour is perfect to relax and rejuvenate after all the hiking and activity of your other tours. We opted out of the optional hike in this tour and headed straight to the spa. Our guide Irene was incredible! She was very knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and made sure we were completely taken care of. Thank you for an incredible time!
Irene was a wonderful tour guide - she told me so much about the Amazon and biodiversity in Ecuador!
Smooth ride there and the hot springs were beautiful. The hot springs themselves were more of a water park than a relaxing experience that seemed to be advertised. Honestly not sure it was worth the price. Entry fee was only a few dollars
The guide and driver were great! Very friendly and know very well the place! Great relaxing place. The girl that attends over the phone is not polite and friendly at all. She put a pick up time that has a 30min range, the bus still arrive late after the maximum and get nervous when you try to call. And the traffic in Quito is not that bad to justify a delay over 30min. Still this girl should take some classes of customer mindset and attendance.
We had a great day at Papallacta and the tour was really nice! I appreciated doing a short hike prior to going to the Hot Springs as it was neat to see the plants of the nature preserve as well as the river that runs into the springs. It made the hot springs all the more enjoyable. Our guide, Carlos, was knowledgeable, and provided great information. It also felt very relaxed; we never felt rushed and had plenty of time to enjoy the springs. It was a bit more crowded being on a Sunday, but overall it was a wonderful day and terrific experience!
The drive from Quito to Papallacta was incredible. The hot springs are beautiful and the hike along the River was really pretty. Our soak was wonderful with not many people. We’ll stay overnight next time!
Skip this tour. It’s super cheap to enter the pools and the pictures are of the private pools you have to pay extra to get into. Very overpriced, not much to see or do unless you can soak in the water for more than two hours. The walk is actually not on the property and well off property around a farm. Also lunch was not included but the guide scheduled a time to meet for lunch at the expensive spa restaurant. It’s not included, so why schedule lunch? Also towels are extra $. Get a driver from your hotel and save some money.
Francisco was our guide for the day and he was “muy bueno”. He was very informative and a lot of fun. We had a wonderful experience on the journey to Papallacta and the hike along the River once we got to the Hot Springs. It is the most beautiful hot springs we have ever been to and we have been to many. This is a must do day trip out of Quito. Ask for Francisco as your guide, you will not be disappointed!
The hot springs were amazing!! My guide was less than amazing. They will let you rent a towel there for $1. BRING A TON OF SUNSCREEN AND REAPPLY I didn't need any bug spray.
I highly recommend this tour! The hot springs are very pretty and extremely relaxing. Roberto was a knowledgeable guide who speaks great English and really knows his birds. This was a very nice short 1.5 hour trip from Quito that allowed us to see the lovely mountains and foliage of Ecuador.
It was a relaxing experience with a beautiful scenery and an awesome guide. All the COVID precautions were taken.
Our family took this tour from Quito to Papallacta. Erica the guide was great! We stopped on the way to see Antisana which they said is almost always covered in clouds. We got a clear view of it and took a bunch of great photos. We then stopped at Papallacta Lake before reaching Termas de Papallacta. There we started with a nice hike along a river with beautiful flowers and waterfalls. We then headed into the spring pools. There are bathrooms, changing rooms, showers, and lockers. You can also grab a basket to put your towel and stuff in to keep it dry and together. There are a few larger pools and then a few more smaller pools. You can choose the temperature you want. There is also a cool pool. There is a restaurant and snack shop to grab a bite to eat. The food was good, the prices were reasonable and the service was average. We chose to go to the public pools which is included in the cost of the tour. You can so pay a little bit more and go to the spa. We did not visit the spa. Worth the trip from Quito and Erica made the trip fun.
Carlos our guide was great, ask for him😊. The hot springs is one of a kind. If you like natural hot springs don’t pass this one up. Great scenic drive as well!
What an incredible experience! Mauro by far is the best tour guide I’ve had the pleasure of coming across in the many countries I’ve visited around the world! I brought my parents to Ecuador for my parents 48th anniversary and my dads 72nd birthday. The hot springs were nothing short of magical. Full body massages, hot pools and a freezing cold one we did it all! The history and knowledge Mauro brought on the ride there and back, as a native of Quito made this tour one for the books!!! Can’t wait to come back
The pools were clean and hot! Francisco was the best guide. He took us on a hike prior to the hot springs. His knowledge of local flora was a bonus.
Fantastic the pools were great very relaxing and he was very helpful, knowledgeable and fun to hang out with. I would recommend.
Our guide and driver picked us up on time and headed out of Quito across the Andes Mountains to Papallacta. Be ready for very cool temps in this area of the Andes which are beautiful and lush green. As soon as we arrived, we headed to the spa to book massages. Our friendly guide was very helpful with this. Fortunately they were able to accommodate 5 of us right before our departure time, but I would recommend contacting the spa directly to book spa treatments in advance to be sure you get a massage or other treatment if you want one. Our relaxation massages were great! The staff follows strict Covid protocols, and you need to wear a mask during massages. The hot springs pools are very hot upon first entering, but you become accustomed after a few minutes. The cool year-round climate makes it enjoyable. We also ate a filling lunch at the restaurant. The changing areas, showers, and lockers were all clean and well organized with a key and basket for each person to store your things. Towels are available to rent for $1 each. The 4 hours at the hot springs and spa passed quickly but were very enjoyable and relaxing. The 2 hour drive each way is also very scenic. It was a perfect way to end our trip to Ecuador.
This tour from the company "Quito Tour Bus" was awesome! Our tour guide Carlos was so friendly and very knowledgeable about all things Ecuador (from the volcanos, cities, history, food, flowers, waterfalls and other interesting stories). For those of you like me, who love to capture the moment of every portion of the experience, Carlos was always willing to take a picture to help do just that. He had the BEST hospitality and always was willing to go over and beyond to show more and provide more of the best experiences for the tour. The funny thing is, I had booked a previous tour to Banos with this company (Quito Tour Bus) and my tour guide was Marco, and Carlos was the driver for that particular tour. So I had already met him and Marco and they were both so nice and treated the group like family. So I was excited to find out he would be my tour guide for my trip to Termas de Papallacta. Termas de Papallacta was so relaxing and worth it. I felt like it was the perfect treat for ending my trip in Ecuador after many hikes and adventurous activities. The property is well kept and the natural hot water will definitely hit the spot. If you are ever in Ecuador and are contemplating who to book an activity with, I highly recommend to search for Quito Tour Bus on Viator or Trip Advisor. If you get Carlos or Marco as your tour guide, you are in for a treat!
A lovely day! We had a sweet and informative guide named Maria Augusta that provided important facts about the Papallacta region all while enjoying beautiful Andean music that she hand selected for her guests. The thermals are a gem. A must do when you want to escape the hussle and bustle of the city.
Hot springs here are great. The guide lady was amazing as well showing/telling us about the countryside on the way to the springs. Great conversation and then relaxing hours in the multiple hot baths.
I decided to take this day tour after days of hiking and crazy activities in and around Quito. The spa resort is about 1.5 hours from Quito by bus. Our guide, Erica, was very engaging and informative the entire day. I learned a lot of things about the area that day. We received some snacks and drinks on the way to the resort. Once we got to the resort, there was an option to take a nature walk (about an hour, nothing crazy in elevations or anything). I decided to do that as I enjoy walking/hiking and I learned a lot of cool things about some of the local plants and animals. After that, we got a few hours to enjoy at the spa. The facilities are nice and clean. Plenty of space and privacy to change, clean up etc. There are several outdoor pools with water varying in temperatures, so you can find the one that suits you the best. The pool areas are surrounded by green mountains and hills. Just absolutely gorgeous and so serene. I decided to have a quick lunch at the restaurant (the traditional potato and cheese soup). So delicious and all made from organic ingredients grown next to the spa (you can see where during the nature walk). I then scheduled a quick 30 minute massage, and finished by soaking in the water again. Since I lost about an hour with the nature walk, I wish I had more time to spend in the pools, but it was still well worth it and it was a very relaxing day! Wear sunscreen, even if its not really a sunny day, the sun is strong and will creep up on you.
Beautiful place, decent guide. Don't miss this location. Fyi don't return to city until 6-7 and they let some people off nearish to the airport as you pass it 40 min away from Quito.
Great trip to relax after some intense hiking days! Our guide Mauro was very knowledgeable and shared some interesting facts about the local flora and fauna during the busride and on a short (optional) hike. Afterwards we had about 4 hours to relax at the hot springs.
Wonderful guide (Andrea), a scenic drive, lovely hike to learn about native plants and relaxing time in the pools.
Excellent experience! The grounds were beautiful. The water was warm and restful. Our guide Andrea was knowledgeable. A perfect day!
After a very busy week of travel and tours I decided to spend my last day in quito going to the hot springs. Great decision! It was very relaxing. The massage (extra$) was fantastic. The service was great and the tour guide Erica was great. Overall, it was a great experience.
Enjoyed evrything about this day trip to papallacta hotsprings. Our guide Maurov was excellent. My friend and I had a pretty good time. 👍
Very nice trip. Excellent hike around the area, beautiful waterfalls, I highly recommend it. Mauro, our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Hot springs were worth visiting, although not the best I've seen; great location, beautiful surroundings.
This place was super nice and the tour guide with Quito Tour Bus was awesome--she had a lot of enthusiasm for getting to know the folks on the tour and for sharing her experiences. There were a variety of different temperatures of baths, a "vapor room," and a nice changing/showering area. The driver, for the trip, Nixon, was on it; he maneuvered rush hour traffic in a rainstorm like it was nothing. This is a good small trip for individuals of all ages, couples, friends, or family. There's not much activity involved--an optional walk, so if you have just arrived and need a "down day," or the like it's great.
Definitely worth spending the day here and getting a bit of a more outdoorsy experience from the hustle and bustle of Quito. The ride to and from Papallacta was scenic and our guide was informative as we made a few quick stops along the way. Relaxing in the various six large pools was a nice way to spend several hours hopping from one to the next and visiting with the other patrons. Wear Sunscreen and apply often as even though the sun was not out most of the time, my shoulders did burn. There is a nice restaurant adjacent to the pools and I had a most delicious quesadilla. All in all, a relaxing day enjoying this well hidden gem of a spa…..well worth it. #NoRegrets
Loved this trip! The scenery to the Termas it is breathtaking. Once we were there, we took an optional 30 minutes walk by the river in which we learned about some flora and had the opportunity to take some photos. I cannot explain how much I enjoyed the thermal pools and the steam caves (which are included in the tour). And Andrea is the best tour guide! I went to three different tours with her and she's very knowledgeable and charismatic.
We had a great day, the scenery is beautiful. After enjoying a short hike, we relaxed in the pools and then enjoyed a mud wrap at the spa. Our guide, Daniel was very pleasant and did a great job!
Was a great experience overall. As with the other Quito Bus tours that we had, our tour guide was polite, entertaining, full of information, and gave a great bilingual (English & Spanish) narrative throughout the day. The bus ride was comfortable and included a snack. The spa itself was clean and large with plenty of space and many different pools of different temperatures & views & seating arrangements. Speaking of views, the setting was gorgeous and felt great to enjoy among the steamy waters. We also did the indoor steam room followed by the relaxation room, which was nice but it was an hour-long portion of the day doing something I could have duplicated at home in the city. On a similar note, the spa visit was preceded by an hour-long hike around the property to view the flora & fauna. It was beautiful, but in retrospect I should have skipped the hike and enjoyed more bathing. The on-site restaurant had very good food and a nice view out the window. All in all, it is HIGHLY recommended and I'm so glad that we went.

The spa experience was mediocre but it is always nice to spend the day in hot pools. The small hike to the waterfall was enjoyable and I got some great photos!
