Santiago was a wonderful guide! From food to history to politics, he was knowledgeable and eager to share information about his amazing country. I have never eaten better on a food tour. This one is a must!

Great food and cultural tour. Unique foods and history on the regional agriculture. Pamela our guide was very knowledgeable.
We had an incredible food tour with Pamela in Quito! She was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and so genuinely nice and accommodating from start to finish. You can tell she has an excellent palate — every stop was carefully chosen and absolutely delicious, from local classics to hidden gems we would never have found on our own. Pamela shared so much about the history, ingredients, and culture behind each dish, which made the experience so much richer. She paced everything perfectly and made sure we were comfortable with the altitude and our preferences. Highly, highly recommend — if you do one tour in Quito, make it this one with Pamela!
We had an excellent guide well versed in the food, the culture and the history of Quito. We didn’t take the street art tour, but ended our tour with great examples of local street art and a visit to a working street art collaborative space. It was an amazing tour. Highly recommend both Bondabu tours and Pamela.
We have done many street food tours in Europe and’s Asia and this would be the best street tour we have done. The food is tasty and not overwhelmingly, the juices are refreshing and the pacing is excellent. Our guide Pamela had fabulous local knowledge as well as a well educated background in Latin American politics. She is a foodie and really knows her stuff, highly informative and very filling. Don’t miss it!
I had a wonderful day with Ernesto- he was very knowledgeable about the city and the country. We went to a couple of food markets where we tried some typical Ecuadorian dishes - a good variety of meat, fish, vegetables and fruit- and of course locally grown coffee and chocolate. We also went to the art precinct and saw some fabulous street art. If you are into learning about local food and art this is the tour for you.
This is a solid food tour. Santiago was fabulous he took us to where locals eat and shared local cuisine . This is not fancy food but amazing local food. I highly recommend.
Santiago was very knowledgeable and eating at local hotspots was a treat and developed a new sense for high quality of Ecuadorian food.
What an amazing tour this was! From the very start, Santiago was engaging, informative, and enthusiastic, telling us all about not only the food but also Ecuador and Quito's history, culture, etc. The food itself was absolutely delicious (how did I not know that Ecuadorian food is incredible?!), and the streets and neighborhoods and markets we traversed were interesting and fun, but it was Santiago's excellent guidework that made our experience so terrific.
We had a fabulous time on the Street Food tour in Quito with Ernesto. We tasted many amazing dishes, got to explore more of the city on foot (instead of just staying in the historic center), saw beautiful street art, and just generally had a great time. Also learned a lot about how typical Ecuadorians live. We're pescatarians and they were easily able to accommodate our diet. Definitely recommend!
Outstanding tour! Santiago is a great guide, he really cares about his country and city and it shows. We got a ton of great local historical and current information, and every bite was excellent. Highly recommend this tour, and Santiago in particular as a guide.
Santiago was gracias, kind and super informative as our guide. I was a little worried about eating “street food” and perhaps getting sick, and I can tell you everything is fresh or cooked thoroughly. The fresh parts are the fruits that are literally cut open in front of you and you eat directly, or they might add the pulp to a blender with some milk and make a fruit smoothie. All very interesting and you see parts of Quito old town that I would not have visited by myself as a tourist in a strange city. Great short tour if you want to get out of your hotel for a few hours and see the real Quito!
Amazing experience on the Quito Street Food Essentials tour! Santi was an incredible guide super knowledgeable about the local food, history, and culture, and genuinely kind and welcoming. I ended up being the only one on the tour, which made it a personalized, one-of-a-kind experience. He took the time to explain every dish and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The food was authentic, delicious, and full of local flavor places I would’ve never found on my own. You can really tell Santi cares about giving a meaningful experience, not just a tour. Definitely a must-do in Quito!
Come hungry and thirsty! The fruit, juices, and snacks were delicious and plentiful. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the food as well as the local history, art and architecture.
Nicely paced, great mixture of Ecuadorian food, historical and architectural info. Great overview of Quito! Santiago very personable, answered our many questions, and was eager to be sure we were happy with the tour. We enjoyed our day with him.
Excellent tour! Ernesto has a passion for food and Ecuador that shines through. Everything we tasted was well prepared and delicious. This chef's curated tour was truly reflection of Ecuadorian cuisine and culture..
Whenever traveling, my fiancée and I always try to book a food tour at the start of a trip to get an idea of the local cuisine, as well as get recommendations for places to try during our stay. This Street Food Tour was far and away the best tour we have done. Our guide Ernesto had an incredible understanding of local cuisine as well as the culture of the city. Each stop was not just a local food stop, but truly told the story of daily life and food in Quito. From the small shop where kids from the local school go for an after school snack, to the local market where workers go to fill up on their lunch break, we tried an abundance of delicious food while learning about the history of the city and its people. We ended the tour enjoying a local beer and handmade cocktail while tasting local chocolate in an amazing art space while discussing the current food scene as well as the direction local cuisine is heading. We also were able to leave with a long list of restaurants and bars to try during our stay, which all helped continue to show the Ecuadorian food landscape in different lights (and were all very delicious). We cannot recommended this tour enough to those looking to truly experience Ecuadorian cuisine as well as learn more about the city and people of Quito.
We did a food tour in Quito with Bondabu and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. The tour felt very local and personal, not touristy at all. We explored La Floresta and Centro Histórico, tried traditional street food, local snacks, and visited markets we would never have found on our own. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and explained Ecuadorian ingredients, culture, and daily life in a way that felt natural and engaging. Everything felt well curated and safe, and the group size was perfect. If you’re looking for an authentic street food tour in Quito or a cultural walking tour with real flavor, Bondabu is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended.
My husband and I have been on a LOT of food tours all over the world, and this was easily one of (if not THE) best we've ever been on. Brilliantly paced (we ate loads but never felt too stuffed to try the next thing), entertaining as well as informative, we learnt as much about the history, politics, street art and daily life of Quito as we did about food! And by the very end we felt like we'd spent the day with new friends rather than just a taking a tour. It was the perfect introduction to Quito and Ecuador! 100% recommended :)
Awesome awesome tour. Santiago was the best guide ever - it actually ended up JUST being me and him. He gave a great historical background on Ecuador and Quito while bringing me around to local gems, cracking jokes and pointing out local street artists. 10PM to 1PM was perfect timing to cover both breakfast and lunch for the day. THANK YOU SANTIAGO
Learned so much about this hidden gem for foodies. Santiago, our guide, made this a wonderful learning experience.
Bring a big appetite to this tour because you’ll need it for all the delicious foods Santiago has you experience. We have traveled all over the world and this is one of the best, if not the best, tour we’ve ever taken. Santiago is friendly, easy to communicate with and so knowledgeable about the food and city he loves. Do not hesitate to go on this tour to experience Ecuadorian food only a local would know about! Thank you, Santiago for such a great day!
My wife and I walked the streets of Quito for several hours with Santiago, learning about its history and culture, admiring its natural and architectural beauty, and (of course) eating! As we remarked toward the end of the tour, the itinerary was a perfect balance from all perspectives – there was a lot of really interesting information, but with plenty of opportunities for our own questions; we walked a healthy amount, but not so much that we were worn out; and we had the chance to sample many different flavors, but it all blended together flawlessly. All of the stops felt very authentic, and the food was all incredible. Make sure that you arrive hungry for this tour because you’ll want to enjoy every bite. Daniel was a wonderful guide and a fantastic ambassador for his city. We had a phenomenal experience and would highly recommend this tour to everybody!
The best food out in Quito!!! We had such an amazing time discovering local food and fruit!!! So much cool history, information about the city and food traditions as well as info about architecture! Would recommend 1000% to do this tour to learn about local Ecuadorian food!
We had a great time with Ernesto! It was fun learning a little about the history and architecture of Quito and trying local favorite food spots. The perfect way to start our trip!
The food was delicious and the servings were huge. Come hungry. Santiago was a great guide. He also showed some wonderful street art. I had a great time.
What a fantastic tour. Off the beaten path into neighborhoods you wouldn’t go to yourself and into some amazing markets and food courts. Santiago, our guide, is very knowledgeable and passionate about his home town and country and it was a pleasure to spend a few hours with him. DO NOT HAVE BREAKFAST before this tour so you can really enjoy all of the culinary delights along the way. Very highly recommended.
This was a really neat experience. We were able to eat at a few places that I would have 100% walked by without a second thought. These were authentic, local, and delicious. Santiago was a great guide and made for a really great experience learning about the different foods from Quito. Big fan!
Our excellent guide, Ernesto, showed us a part of the Quito food scene we would have never found on our own. The food was fantastic and Ernesto’s discussions were informative and fun. We happily recommend this tour.
Highlight of my time in Quito - a wonderful morning spent learning about local food and culture. Everything was so delicious, I highly recommend!
Our guide, Santiago, was knowledgeable and made the tour feel like a friend was showing us around. It was a small group (6 including him), which was perfect. The food was amazing and we felt we got a real overview of Ecuadorian flavors and cuisine. The 5-10 min walk between stops was perfect. Really could not be happier with our tour and highly recommend this tour with Santiago. We left full but not feeling too full (a hard balance!), and like we got a real taste of the city.
Excellent way to try traditional Ecuadorian food while also seeing quito. Highly recommend! The portions are great and you will be full by the end of the tour. I appreciate how he separated the food stops!
Guide was brilliant and we saw a side of Quito we would never have found - markets, stalls, food outlets and awesome juices. A real all round perspective on Quito. Great street tours and insights on local artists and graffiti We do lots of food tours and this is highly recommended
Great guide, deep local insights and a really wide selection of food types and experiences. Included some good local history as well. We do a lot of tours around the world and this was outstanding
Santiago was an excellent guide . Knowledgeable , approachable and provided an authentic food tasting in addition to providing a wonderful glimpse into Ecuadorian life
My wife and I usually go on a food tour wherever we travel and this might be the best one we’ve ever done. Ecuadorean food is incredible and the tour took us to places we never would have found on our own. More than that, our guide Santiago was the best tour guide we’ve ever had. He was incredibly insightful. While it may have been a food tour, we learned so much about Ecuadorian culture, history, art, and politics— it really helped us start off of our visit to Ecuador. Can’t recommend enough, muchos gracias Santiago!
What a wonderful way to explore the real food of equador! Santiago was our guide and he took us in a delightful stroll through the city were we visited local food stalls and sampled food and fruits and chocolate. And we got a bonus tour of the murals. Can’t recommend this enough!
We had an absolutely fabulous time! The food was all amazing, huge variety, fresh and delicious. Santiago was knowledgeable and fun and such an enjoyable guide. We learned about local culture and Ecuadorian history and food and so much more. The art and coffee and chocolate at the end was a great treat, too!
This was a great food tour and Santiago was an excellent guide. We've found a great way to learn about a region and culture is through its cuisine. This tour did not disappoint. It was a wonderful experience! Santiago was friendly and very knowledgeable. All our stops were interesting, the food provided was delicious and plentiful (do not eat before this tour!), and Santiago provided a wonderful overview of Ecuadorian culture. He chose delicious spots to introduce us to the local food and drink. He also pointed out several sights along the way including an interesting street with beautiful street art and an artist coop. A bit pricey but well worth the cost. Highly recommend.
We always enjoy a foodie walking tour early in visiting a new city. This Quito version excelled thanks to Santi, our guide. We were exposed to more unique foods than imaginable. Ecuador is truly a foodie paradise. Santi also introduced us to the local art scene and it's impressive graffiti.
Very good sample of street foods of Ecuador but terribly overpriced. We paid 400 dollars for 3 people and the food cost in total couldn’t have been more than 50 dollars (and likely much less). The guide was fine but the tour was a ripoff.
It’s like no other tour I’ve been on, more like hanging out with a friend who just happens to be an expert in street food and Ecuadorian culture, and loves to show one all of it. Loved it all, from the first zip of that first drink to the wind empanadas (still dreaming of them).
It was a pleasant surprise to have Santiago as my tour guide for the second time during my trip. He took me to more places than I expected and all were unique in their own way. Not only did I get to try new and delicious foods, we visited a small gallery for a coffee tasting, saw lots of great street art and two incredible markets. Santiago was very knowledgeable about architecture and local history. He also helped me pick out local music CDs. All in all, it was a delightful experience.
We had a fantastic time on the Quito Street food essentials trip We were lucky that there was just the two of us and our guide Santi, was extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable We loved a lot of the fruit and juices we sampled, as well as the viche which was superb Aside from the food, we saw some fantastic street art Santi took us to places we would never have found by ourselves, so it was well worth having a local guide
Santiago was our guide for this two-hour walking tour around Quito. It was relatively easy walking for most travelers. We stopped off at some markets and hole-in-the-wall type places for delicious and overall pretty healthy food and drinks. We had fresh fruit, lots of fresh juice, empanadas, and some traditional breakfast dishes. This tour is approachable for vegetarians or meat-eaters. We were also impressed with Santiago himself. He told us a bit about his travels across South America, as well as his music career. He is fluent in many languages.
It was a wonderful experience! A way to learn about Quito through food and conversation. Santiago was warm, intelligent and fun. He chose delicious spots to introduce us to Ecuadorian street food.
Santiago was a great tour guide. We had fantastic bites and a nice stroll through eclectic street art murals! Highly recommend
Really enjoyed the hole in the wall places we got to sample food. The tour was larger in group number than I expected based on the description but I get the sense this tour and locations visited are somewhat customized but the group dynamic which is great.
Santi was an excellent guide, knowledgeable and engaging. Communication with the tour provider was very good. The food sampling was both delicious and plentiful - as a local, Santi knew the spots to visit. We had a good time talking about the cultural life of Quito while seeing some of the sites of old town and the surrounding area. Nice combo of culinary and culture. I would recommend this tour.
Great tour, really nice spots I wouldn't have found anywhere, and loads of history and culture added to the tour. Had a really great time.
