We booked last minute, for the wrong day (exhausted after traveling). Alexi went above and beyond and altered his plans to fit ours on less than one hour’s notice. The tour was informative and detailed. Alexi was very knowledgeable about the city and country. He answered our questions in detail. He even helped us with navigating the subway to return to our hotel. We highly recommend Alexi and Ayllu Tours if you want a super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable tour guide.
The guide was very patient and knowledgeable. Excellent English and easy to hear/ understand. Would recommend a different meeting point- no place to sit or stand on the corner
The guide was very welcoming, knowledgeable and passionate about Quito and Ecuador - I learnt many interesting things and would highly recommend :)
Alexi was a fantastic and informative guide. Who was full of interesting stories and anecdotes about Quito’s history. Would recommend to anyone having their visit Quito
Enjoyable and varied experience. Our guide Stefy was very knowledgeable and friendly and the different tastings were enjoyable.
Alexis, our guide, had a pleasant personality. He was English speaking and easy to listen to, informative and told us enough without overloading us with too much detail. We enjoyed his anecdotes and retelling of cultural legends. The chocolate tasting at the end was the cream on the cake. We would thoroughly recommend this walking tour by Ayllu.
It was a great experience learning about the history of Quito. Our guide was very knowledgeable and very personable. Definitely a recommendation of this tour.
We loved the walking tour so much. Alexis was a fantastic guide, very friendly, spoke excellent English and was very thorough giving us the history of the city. And the chocolate tasting at the end was amazing! Highly recommend.
We had the most wonderful experience on this tour- learning both about the history of Quito’s historic (and religious) center as well as hearing the folklore that accompanies the religious history. The chocolate tasting at the end was the cherry on the cake. Our guide was kind, informed, and fun. 10/10
We had a great experience today, with excellent English explanations and insight into the history of Quito, we would highly recommend this tour!
Tefa was a great guide showing us around her city Quito. She speaks English well and conveyed information in an interesting way. She was happy to answer all questions and discuss issues. And she knows lots about chocolate- yum!
I had a pleasure taking a walking tour with Ayllu tour. It was very interesting and informative to know the history of old Quito.
Alex was excellent in every way I couldn't fault him. He listened to my interests and accommodated them very well. His knowledge was outstanding not only with the historical dates but also the, Evolving customs and culture. As it happened I was the only one booked on the tour. So I was spoiled. My only regret was I was unable to give him I very well deserved big tip. As I had mislaid my Money wallet.
This was a great way to learn about the buildings I had been walking by. The guide was very knowledgeable, and shared great lore about churches and other old buildings. He proved expert during the chocolate tasting as well!
This was an excellent fascinating walking tour of Quito old town with Alexis. Can't recommend highly enough.
My mom and I truly enjoyed our walking tour with Ayllu, as he was informative and knowledgeable about the historic locations in Quito; also, about cacao. Thank you Ayllu for the amazing tour!
A great guided walk - a great way to experience an introduction to Quito. Thoroughly recommended Alexis was on time and had lots of stories to explain the history and culture of Quito
We did the Quito walking tour. Alex was very friendly and knowledgeable, you can ask him any question about the city and ecuadorian culture. The tour was well timed around 2 hours with the included cacao tasting which was a highlight. Would recommend!

Must do experience when in Quito! We enjoyed this walking tour, our guide was excellent. We learned a lot and to be honest our experience in Old town wouldn’t have been as good without the tour- it helped us understand the architecture and history. Loved it!
Alexis was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Quito and very friendly. He shared interesting insights regarding the churches and the local people’s beliefs. He adjusted the tour to our pace and made great recommendations for lunch! I would highly recommend him not only for this tour but other tours he offers. Great communication prior to the trip. Don’t miss the chocolate tasting!!!

Such an amazing tour guide , amazing view sights and some much history i learned! Very informational. The photos attached are some of the sights from the tour. Note: The chocolate tasting was great.
Alexis with Ayllu tours was terrific. His knowledge of Quito history and anecdotes that provided the color commentary to make the Old Town sites come alive. He customized the tour to our interests and needs (I had not yet adjusted to the altitude), letting us adjust the flow accordingly. An added treat was the chocolate shop learning to pick out the notes of each region’s chocolate. Highly recommend this tour.
We had a wonderful morning with Ayllu. His knowledge, experience and pleasant personality made our tour in Old Town Quito fantastic. Our group of 7, all agreed the the walking was easy and the tour very enjoyable, especially loved the delicious chocolate!
Our tour guide Alexis was extremely informative and very friendly. His communication is perfect and he really contributed a myriad of information about historic Quito, including many fascinating antecdotes. I highly recommend him.
Great experience. Very knowledgeable about the area and culture. Great story teller
A huge thank you to our guide for such an incredible tour during Carnival. He is extremely knowledgeable, polite, and professional. Having done a group tour with a different guide the day before, we can say this was on a completely different level—there’s simply no comparison. He provided excellent insights into Quito's history and culture, making us feel completely safe and confident exploring the city. We felt a natural connection with him right away. Look no further; this is the guide you need
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Alexis. He was knowledgeable about the history of the city and informed us of the daily life of the people of Quito that live there today. He could not have been more pleasant and professional. We highly recommend this tour.
We absolutely loved our walking tour with Alexis! He shared fantastic history and local knowledge about Quito and Ecuador. The chocolate tasting was fun and there was no pressure to buy anything afterward (though we did because we really liked a couple of the flavors!). He was happy to answer questions about modern life in Ecuador, and since he spent significant time in the US, he has a good reference point to compare or give examples that we could relate to. We felt REALLY lucky to be taking this tour when Carnival was happening…we walked right up the streets near/on the parade route, and got to learn about some of the traditions (like spraying people with foam!). We embraced getting sprayed (there’s no white flag - everyone is fair game) but felt safe walking through the crowds with Alexis guiding us! What fun! We’ve done many “free” walking tours around the world and felt this was worth more than what many companies charge up-front - so we “tipped” accordingly - don’t forget cash!
Alexis provided a fun and very informative tour! I highly recommend this if you're looking to explore Quito!
Booked trip approx 4 weeks prior to arrival. Alexis was our guide. He was so professional, informative and spoke excellent English. Alexis showed genuine enthusiasm to show us round The Old Town part of his home city. Doing this walk was a superb introduction to a beautiful city guided by a true professional. Thanks Alexis for the tour and also for your recommendation of the Microcerveceria.
Great tour. I highly recommend Eduardo for his knowledge and most interesting stories
Alexis was amazing! Very knowledgeable about Quito and its history. We learned a lot, which gave us a deep appreciation for Quito and Ecuador. Highly recommend this tour!
Exploring Quito’s Old Town with Alexis of Ayllu-Tours was one of the highlights of our trip. He is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire experience feel both meaningful and fun. Instead of just wandering through beautiful streets without context, we really understood what we were seeing — the history, the architecture, and the stories behind it all. Alexis explains things clearly, speaks excellent English, and is open and responsive to questions. We learned so much about the Historic Centre, and he also made us feel very safe and comfortable the whole time, which made it easy to just enjoy the experience. What made this even better is that Alexis also offers private tours — we ended up booking one with him to Mindo Cloud Forest, and it turned out to be one of the best tours of our entire trip! If you’re in Quito and want an informative, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable guide, I can’t recommend Alexis enough.
He was a great guide, knowledgable, friendly and fluent in English. Highly recommended
Exploring Quito Old Town with Ayllu was fantastic. He is very knowledgeable and friendly and made walking around the old streets more valuable and purposeful rather than just wandering around aimlessly. Also made me feel very safe.
We had a wonderful tour with Alexis. He really knows a lot about the Historic Centre and we learned a lot from him. He speaks English very well. Highly recommend.
Great experience and enjoyed learning about the historic center from our guide. Thanks!
Clear descriptions of old town Quito sites and history. Alexis is knowledgeable, open and responsive to questions. A friendly, informative and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!
Alexis is a passionate and enthusiastic guide with extensive knowledge about Quito and all of Ecuador. I really enjoyed our 2.5 hour tour of the Old Town. The cacao tasting was really good and I learned a lot about the production and differences in chocolate. There was no pressure to buy anything but I plan to go back to enjoy some gelato. This was the perfect way to get introduced to Quito and the local culture. I highly recommend booking this tour to begin your adventure in the city.
Alexis was the right guide person to let us enter in the ancient story of Quito. He is very professional, calm nd friendly. It was a pleasure to took walk this old city town tour with him! The tour itself wasn' t tensive, so we didn't enter in any church, it was smooth nd very easy. Tank you very much Alexis
