Mauro was an amazing guide. His English was perfect. He taught us about Ecuadorian culture. He took us to an amazing experience with the hummingbirds. We also loved the hike in the cloud forest and riding the cable car. We ended the day with a delicious chocolate tasting. You will not be sorry if you book this tour!

Christian was a great driver/guide. I enjoyed each of the stops and we saw some great wildlife! The car was comfortable and clean. The only negative for me was that I got no proactive outreach ahead of the tour. I have always received a personal note either through Viator or WhatsApp ahead of a tour to confirm a booking, and this would have made me feel better about what to expect ahead of time. But the activity itself was really nice.
Daniel was excellent. He was communicative, ride was comfortable and clean, and we adjusted our plans based on his feedback. His feedback was spot on, with re-ordering a few things to maximize views and weather, and taking us to an amazing hummingbird sanctuary along with the more touristy things we wanted to do as well. Highly recommended, would absolutely work with Daniel again next time we're in Quito.
Our guide and driver, Pamela and Edison, were friendly, professional, and flexible. Great experience.
Pick-Up in time, spacious car, careful driver, guide with lots of knowledge and very good English. We had a wonderful time and absolutely recommend this tour
Wonderful day trip from Quito! Christian was a fabulous guide - super well informed about everything we were seeing and an excellent driver. We had a lovely 2 hour drive to the Mindo cloud forest and stopped at an amazing hummingbird reserve where the birds flew right up to your fingers. Then a wonderful hands-on private tour of an artisan chocolate factory where we got to select, roast and grind our own cacao beans and then do a delicious tasting. Finally, a stop at a butterfly farm where we were surrounded by gorgeous butterflies in all stages of development. All in all, a great way to spend the day getting to know part of Ecuador outside of Quito!
Daniel is a very knowledgeable guide and birder. He made the journey to Mindo and back interesting and informative. Our family loved being able to get up close to the hummingbirds & butterflies. We also really enjoyed our almuerzo lunch at the restaurant Daniel took us to. We didn’t hike to the waterfall due to heavy rainfall, but we still had a great day, and recommend this day tour from Quito.
We didn't go on the mind cloud forest tour due to mud slides and road closure. Instead we chose the Octavalo tour. Our guide Pamela was very knowledgeable about the area. We felt she showed us cultural activities of the region. We enjoyed her friend that joined us and told about the indigenous dress and songs. Also the man who played musical instruments he carved. We had lunch at restaurant that served traditional Ecuadorian food. I would recommend this tour.
Wonderful day trip from Quito visiting the cloud forest and Centre of the World. Our guide Christian was very helpful and informative. He was able to tailor our trip to suit our limited time and specific interests. Brilliant Hummingbirds, chocolate factory tour and the Centre of the World. Very satisfied tourists.
Excellent tour guides personalized the trip for us. Chocolate facial made us laugh and enjoy. Long drive.
What a day we had. Christian who you will find is a warm, happy person waiting for us at our hotel. Wife had laid out a wish list of things she wanted to see, which started with a rather long drive out to Mindo. Once in Mindo our first stop was a lovely butterfly refuge gardine de mariposa that also had a feeding station for toucans, hummingbirds and various birds, we loved it. Second stop Punto Ornitologico which had many many birds and amazingly enough Christian knew every bird and was able to point out approx 23 different species of hummingbirds and other birds, you are able to feed the hummingbirds here and it is a intense feeling to have one, two or even three hummingbirds on your hand drinking the nectar they provide there. We stopped in Mindo at a ceviche spot that was recommended, the ceviche was fantastic a perfect lunch. We then load up and moved on to another birding p,ace where again we fed hummingbirds and observed all kinds of toucans and other species. After approx 45 mins there we made another stop at a bird sanctuary called Milpe by this time the rain had started but it didn’t deter Christian in the least even driving down the road he stopped cause he had spotted little wild red bananas that I have never seen before he picked one so we could taste it way different than anything you would imagine a banana does. He also stopped because he spotted different toucans along the roads in the trees. With his extensive knowledge of birds he was able to tell us exactly what we were looking at. He had planned on taking us to some waterfalls in the area but we didn’t feel that was as important as the birding. So we headed back to Quito and ran into a massive traffic jam due to multiple vans with bikes and trucks with produce slowly climbing out of the canyon, so our ride back was a bit longer then anyone expected but the whole time Christian kept the chat alive talking about birds, fish and life in Equador in general we ended up getting back close to 8pm which since he picked us up,at 830 was a much longer day than anyone had planned on but never a dull moment. If you looking to spend a day birding or even just touring around don’t hesitate to call these folks and they did not disappoint.
We went to the Cloud forest with our bilingual guide, Christian. His English is excellent and he taught us some Spanish on our two hour drive to the Mindo Cloud Forest. Once we arrived, we hiked down to a very nice waterfall. We did the easy one as we had three other cool things on our itinerary. Round trip hike was just under an hour with the decent (approx 300 m with good swithmchbacks), enjoying the waterfall for 15 minutes, and the return hike up. Excellent cardio on the way back up (I'm 60 and in ok shape, not great). Following a great hike, we went Mindo Zip-lining and did the 10 lines for $20 per person. An excellent price for ten outstanding and fast ziplines. The only bad part is that the person taking the money (cash only here) did not have change for $100 bill, so we had $65 in small bills (10s and 5s), that was meant for tipping, but had to use 60 to pay for the Zip-lining. Therefore, even though we wanted to tip our guides better, we were only able to give them a total of $5 and they definitely deserved $10 each, in my opinion. Bottom line: don't bring $100 or even $50 bills, bring 5s and 10s. The next thing we did was go to Serenity restaurant in downtown Mindo. The host was amazing and the chef came out to greet us. Pricing was great and they take credit cards. I had a mixed Ceviche with shrimp, octopus, and two other fishes and it was plentiful and about 1/2 what you'd pay in the US for the same dish. We then went to the chocolate tour at QUINDES Chocolate and it was fabulous. It was about an hour and included a bilingual guide and we went thru the entire process from cutting open the cacao pod and getting the seeds to roasting them and finally the tasting. We also did a chocolate facial (no sugar added) and those were some fun photos! The last thing we did on our tour was the hummingbird sanctuary. Christian will take you to the best one. I cannot recommend this tour enough if you are coming to Quinton.
Mauro customized the tour to our abilities and interests. It was a wonderful day spent discovering Quito and Mindo. We saw butterflies and hummingbirds and orchids and volcanos and the equator and …
Our guide, Cristian, was excellent. He shared a lot of interesting information about Ecuador throughout the trip and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves as much as possible. Holding hummingbirds in our hands was a highlight for us.
The guide was very good at giving us info about Ecuador as a whole over a huge variety of topics. The stops never felt rushed and we all felt like we got a good sampling of what Mindo had to offer.
A trip to Mundo is a must and you will be so happy that you went with Christian! He is fun and engaging, professional and so knowledgeable. It is clear that he loves what he does and he does it better than anyone. The ride was comfortable, the many landscapes we crossed were fascinating and Christian made the trip feel like time with a dear friend. Mundo is a delightful town in the cloud forest. The hike, the lunch and the chocolate experience were all memorable, but the defining moment was saved for last. Feeding hummingbirds from the palm of your hand is mind blowing! At one point, there were FIVE sitting in my wife's hand waiting their turn to drink out of the cap of nectar in her palm! Do not pass up this amazing adventure!!
Mindo rain forest was great, our tour guide was good and know lag able about the birds. I would had like him to talk a bit more about the beautiful flora as well.
Wonderful experience and great trip! If you’re looking for a bird expert, ask for Christian! He knows his birds and really went out of his way to make our day a special one. He even shared the bird check list we created together. We also enjoyed a nice time making and drinking our own coffee, along with a scrumptious lunch. I highly recommend this trip if you’re looking to see a great number of hummingbirds and local birds in Mindo. Christian is also an excellent driver that puts your safety first ! Thank you for these amazing memories of a lifetime !
I went on this trip solo with Christian. He was prompt, kind, and knowledgeable. He came prepared with an itinerary, but upon learning that seeing birds was a priority, he made some changes to the itinerary to make the most of the time. I thoroughly enjoyed this trip, and recommend it to others.
This was the perfect tour with a lot of choices for what you want to do. We did the hummingbird sanctuary in the morning which was so cool. The. Some of our group did zip lining while the other half did the waterfall hike. We then had a great lunch followed by the chocolate tour. The only thing is that I wish the chocolate tour had more regular chocolate with different cocoa levels instead of just flavored chocolate. Daniel was a wonderful guide and Manuel was a great driver. I would definitely recommend the tour to others. You could potentially spend the night in Mindo since there is so much to do in that area and it is 2 hours from Quito.
We took the private tour to Mindo and it was great. Daniel is a very good tour guide. Knows a lot about birds, plants, geography, all! The trip to see birds, butterflies and also the adventure through the forest was fantastic. He explained everything in detail and had very good recommendations. Nice driving and good lunch. Very recommended!
WOW! I've heard the Andes Hummingbirds, Birds, and Hummingbirds were amazing, but they are incredibly colorful and our guide was superb, knowledgeabel, kind, good driver, a master of the English language, what a fantastic day. I recommend this for anyone interested in this wildlife and especially those interested in photography. Even the drive up into the Andes was beautiful, terraced farms, lush plant growth, quaint villages, even a great lunch stop, and none of the extras were costly. We had a blast on the most beautiful zip-line we've been on with some really long zip-lines and even a 2nd parallel cable for safety. They traversed deep gorges over streams and the operators were very kind and knowledgeable themselves. I'd do this again in a minute.
Wonderful tour! Misael was fun and informative. Vehicle was clean and comfortable. Daniel in the office was super accommodating as we kept adding participants!
Tour is expensive for what you receive. There is private transportation but it was not included in the cost. Drive from airport area to Mindo is 2 hours over twisty mountain roads. The best part of the experience was being with the tour guide/driver, Christian, who is a wealth of information and an excellent driver. He is a shining star for this company and has excellent English skills. We did enjoy the chocolate tour and hummingbird sanctuary (but these are additional costs).
This was the perfect day trip from Quito. Our guide Christian was amazing!! He met us at the hotel and we started our day. It was almost a 2 hour drive to our first stop and Christian kept it interesting, pointing out scenery and giving us a lesson on all things Ecuador. At the first stop he gave us a couple options to choose and we picked an easy hike to a beautiful waterfall, all the way he taught us about the plant and animal life and we even spotted a few toucans in the trees. We next stopped in town for a chocolate making tour where we had the chance to roast our own chocolate beans and have some samples of what we made. After a nice lunch, we went to San Tadeo birding where we were able to see hundreds of hummingbirds, feeding some from our hands. Gorgeous scenery, and wildlife, and the best tour guide ever!
We took a day tour to experience the many things Mindo has to offer, and chose the waterfalls, hummingbirds and butterfly experience Our guide Christian was incredible. He had an extensive knowledge of Quito, Ecuador, vegetation and birds and his English was excellent He was very accommodating and allowed us to plan our itinerary The walk to and from Nambillo waterfall was enjoyable and doable We then went to see the butterflies where we learned many facts we’d previously not known and we even got to feed one !! The highlight of our trip was the hummingbirds where again we were able to feed them. These tiny little birds actually landed on our hands, which was beyond amazing, and the speed of their wings felt like a fan ! The journey to and from Mindo was quite long, 2 plus hours but it was a great opportunity to see outside of Quito and Christian taught us so much along the way
We had a great day and would recommend this tour. Christian was extremely knowledgeable about Ecuador and planned a great day for us. We went zip lining which was amazing, to the chocolate factory (also great) and the hummingbird sanctuary which we loved.
Again with Daniel. This day was fully packed with great visits. We did the short waterfall stop and that was quite enough. Photos from every stop were super.
One should consider there is a lot of driving - 2.5h one direction. Walk in cloud forest is very short, all entrance fees are additional, the bird watching facility for 5 $ is problematic considering animal wellfere as they are feeding the birds and changing their natural behaviour. Zip line was good. In general, our driver was nice, but wouldn't recommend this tour.
Christian is a great guide, I think he kept mentioning interesting things the whole drive back and forth to Mindo. Amazing knowledge about birds and plants. Whole trip was flexible and we got to make our own coffee and chocolate. Bird sanctuary was very nice, got to see some Toucans (apparently rare sighting) and feed hummingbirds.
Butterflies, birds, hummingbirds, waterfalls and chocolate all in one day. Amazing experience and delightful guide.
Superb exploration of birds and butterflies in Mindo provided by our excellent guide, Christian! We customized our tour to focus on Mindo’s unique flora and fauna —primarily birds and butterflies— so we spent more time in those areas, sacrificing the waterfall hike and chocolate factory visit. Hummingbirds were incredible and we spied over 40 species of birds in a period of several hours. Enjoyed a relaxing, economical lunch at Serenity restaurant. Christian was friendly and knowledgeable, and tracked our bird sightings on a checklist. Highly recommend a visit to this region and the tour with Christian!
This was our first time booking a tour like this, and we didn't quite know what to expect. And everything was amazing! A very special thank you goes to our guide Christian, the very best guide in Ecuador :) we immediately felt like we made a new friend. His knowledge of and the live for the country is admirable. We learned so much about nature, history, and everything else of this country. The tour is customizable. You can skip things you don't care for. We did ziplines, coffee and chocolate tour, bird and hummingbird place (yes, they will land on your hand) and walked around the cute little town of Mindo. It was 100% worth the price! A perfect day in beautiful Ecuador!
Guides were local which is important. English was good enough. Itinerary was flexible and we did most things we wanted for the time we had (really need 2-3 days. Did chocolate tour, waterfall hike, gondola, zip line, woukd skip butterfly garden, and dod bird sanctuary with fruit and hummingbird feeders. Hummingbirds were the highlight with about 20 species and some land on your finger!
Christian was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable not only about Ecudaor’s history, but also many different bird species. It was a pleasure to take his tour. I highly recommend it!
We had a great time. Daniel was a great tour guide, he was very professional and knowledgeable. He helped my mom identify many species of birds. He arrived on time and went at our pace. He was very patient and took us to see some great things like the butterflies and hummingbirds. The coffee and chocolate tours were a lot of fun as well. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Our guide was Christian and he was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, we learnt a lot about Ecuador, and took care to ensure we enjoyed our day and had a memorable experience. We had an amazing day exploring Mindo, on the zip line, seeing the butterflies and hummingbirds, and the chocolate tour. I would recommend this day trip from Quito to anyone.
Our guide for the day was Christian. He was AWESOME! He provided us with so much information about their history, volcanoes, cultures, etc. The zip lining was way more than expected. There were 10 lines and they were so accommodating when I was slow climbing to the next one. The chocolate tour is a must as well. You get to experience so many things from preparing to tasting and even a chocolate mask! And of course the butterfly and hummingbird farms put such a smile on my face. Getting to have them land on you and see them up close was unbelievable. Everyone should try and do this tour and hope you get Christian as your guide!
The amazing zip lines, the wonderful guide, and everything was well taken care of. Our guide was incredible. Very knowledgeable and a wonderful driver.
As our first time in Ecuador, we were very impressed with the activities Mindo had to offer. The zip line and wildlife were incredible. Our tour guide, Christian, was amazing and so knowledgeable about Ecuador. He stayed with us all day as we traveled to and from the hotel. His English was great and I would definitely recommend him!!!
Christian was an amazing guide and so knowledgeable about everything and he was super patient with us since us 3 adults were traveling with a baby. Having hummingbirds drink directly from mini feeders we were holding was awesome! If you’re a bird enthusiast, Christian is the perfect person!
The day spent with Cristian at Mindo Cloud Forest was wonderful from start to finish. Personable, knowledgeable, excellent command of the English language and a great sense of humour! He arranged the day to make the most of each activity, which included a chair lift to a spectacular view, a visit to the butterfly garden, an hour spent learning about the journey of cacao seeds from roasting to grinding and finally eating a delicious chocolate sauce with fruit, and an awesome hour with hummingbirds and dozens of tropical birds with gorgeous colours! An awesome day with an awesome guide - thank you Cristian, you made my first day in Ecuador truly memorable!
Great private tour. Daniel was a knowledgeable guide, and we enjoyed ziplining, chocolate tour and seeing the hummingbirds. Mindo was a beautiful town and we had a great day.
As soon as I saw the humming bird photos I knew I wanted to do this trip. We were collected by Christian our lovely guide just before 8am and headed off to Mindo. Christian gave us lots of interesting information on the drive (which is 2.5 hours) and stopped for comfort breaks. First we took the little cable car and then walked to the waterfall looking out for birds along the way. Next was the chocolate making and tasting tour, then a tasty lunch. Our finale was the visit to the humming birds and it was very special. The birds drank from our hands and I had no idea there were so many types of humming bird. We also saw lots of other colourful birds including 2 types of tucan. I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Christian.
Christian was a very informative and friendly guide. We had a fantastic time. The scenery was beautiful, and we especially loved the birdlife, especially feeding the hummingbirds.
Our guide was Daniel who we highly recommend! Daniel was personable, professional and an excellent driver. He was very accommodating and had a wide range of knowledge. The trip itself was great. We did the cable car, a hike down to the waterfall, a chocolate tour ( with tastings!) and the big highlight for us was the hummingbirds sanctuary. We also called through ( unplanned) the Initial Museum (middle of the world) which was a bit of fun. We highly recommend this tour and this driver/guide!
It was a great, private tour! Daniel was very nice and spoke perfect English to tell me all about Ecuador and the sites. I really enjoyed my time and he made sure I was happy the whole tour! I would definitely recommend
Daniel was a great guide. He had extensive knowledge about Ecuador and local knowledge. Daniel spoke excellent English. He was interesting and engaging and we loved our day with him. We really appreciated Daniel’s recommendations for birdwatching, butterflies and the chocolate tour. He was a safe driver.
We enjoyed the trip vety much and thank to our tour guide Chris to arrange the sightsees and the locale deliciouse lunch.
Wonderful trip to beautiful Mindo. It is a relaxing time with spectacular views of the cloud forest, bird watching and a small hike to the waterfalls in the forest. Christian from Llamingo travel is a very pleasant guide with lots of useful information about Ecuador, birds and the Mindo area.
