Touring Quito with guide Kathy Rea was truly informative and enjoyable. She led our group of eight friends through a series of memorable adventures, from standing on the equator to the top of a 13,000’ mountain peak to the historical Old Town. If you’re interested in both historical and contemporary affairs, Kathy knows it all, and packs it into a single day. We especially enjoyed her choice of restaurant La Vid for a classic Ecuadorian lunch. We highly recommend this all-day tour.
This was a great tour. We started out at a local market where our guide,Pato, introduced us to some wonderful fruits from the area. We really enjoyed walking through the market and seeing the fruits, vegetables, flowers and household items. Good walk and great view of the city -- enjoyed the cable car ride! Pato did a great job of telling us about the amazing diversity of flora and fauna in Ecuador. The trip to Intinan Museum was fun--the guide and experiments at were engaging and well presented. Pato then led us on a great tour of old town, explaining the history of this wonderful city and country. Thank you, Pato for a great day!
Outstanding day in Quito! Galindo, our guide was professional, engaging, fun and an excellent photographer! Jaime, our driver, was excellent and extremely safe. Perfect lunch spot arranged by Galindo and all in all, an amazing day!
Our private tour with Pato was amazing. He shared his love and knowledge of Quito with us. All throughout our trip, we didn't feel like we were with a tour guide, but visiting this beautiful part of Ecuador with a friend. Bonus: he takes incredible pictures. We highly recommend Ecuador a Color.
Our tour guide Pato is a native of Quito and has a vast knowledge of all facets of the area…history, geography, and wildlife.
Patricio was an awesome tour guide and we had a great time! He was very knowledgeable, and it was apparent he loves his country and wanted to share that with us. I would use him again and would recommend him to others.
I had an absolutely amazing experience touring Quito with Pato! Since Pato was born and raised in Quito, he knows the city inside and out, and that really made the experience feel authentic and special. He explained everything in great detail and shared so much about the history, culture, and everyday life of the city. We stopped at a local market where we got to try some unique fruits, then rode the Teleférico up the mountain and did a short hike with incredible views overlooking Quito. The swing in the clouds was awesome, and Pato even doubled as my personal photographer, making sure I had plenty of great pictures to remember the experience. We visited the Basilica, which was amazing, and then walked through the beautiful Old Town before having an awesome lunch in the square. We ended the day at Mitad del Mundo, which was the perfect way to finish the tour. We were lucky enough to arrive when there weren't many people around, so I was able to get some fantastic pictures without the crowds. This was an especially wonderful tour as a solo traveler. Pato made the entire day comfortable, fun, informative, and memorable. He truly went above and beyond to make sure I had an incredible experience. Pato is the absolute best! If you're visiting Quito, I highly recommend booking a tour with him. You won't be disappointed!

Really a very amazing experience. Our guide Marcial, was very knowledgeable and very personal. He explained every single location in detail, with an excellent history background. Our driver Wilson was also excellent.
We had an excellent tour with our guide Gustavo Xavier Cañas Valle! We were in a group of 5 that included 2 young children. He was incredibly patient and flexible with the children while attending to the needs of the group as a whole. He had a TON of information everywhere we went and was very open to questions. Transportation was in a tour bus that was comfortable and safe. Would highly recommend this tour!
Very fun trip had a great time to many places. Middle of the world , chocolate tasting, cable cart and the cathedral. My tour guide Galindo was very respectful and kind . He also reserved a place to eat that has Ecuador dishes. It was a fun adventure.
My husband and I flew into Quito for a one day layover on our way home after a Galapagos tour and decided to make the most out of the day with a day tour. I booked it a mere 13 hours prior and we were paired with Galindo as our guide. He was a very experienced tour guide, knowledgeable, and also took great pictures of us along the way. Galindo’s English was excellent, but it was still nice to be able to practice my very rusty Spanish with him without feeling embarrassed since I never really had a chance to speak much in Galapagos. Galindo catered our tour to our preferences and took us to a really cute restaurant for lunch that had good food and our table had a nice view of Independence Square. We really felt like we got a good taste of Quito by the end of the day. We were tired but it was worth it!
Patricio (Pato) is an awesome guide! So friendly and knowledgeable, I learned so much from him! After my first tour with him, I decided to book more and more. He was so helpful, he doesn’t just act like a tour guide, he also acts like a friend. I’m so happy Patricio was my guide in Ecuador, when I come back next year, I will continue my tourism with Patricio ☺️
Christian picked us up at our hotel in Quito promptly at 8:00 AM. He took us to the Teleferico first as it would be less crowded. The views were spectacular! He told us about his experience climbing the surrounding volcanos. After the Teleferico we went to the Middle of the World, both sites, to experience being at the equator. While we were driving there he provided so much information about Ecuador, the history, politics, economy, and life in general for an Ecuadoran citizen. We certainly learned a lot about the country from him. At the equator he introduced us to our indigenous guide, Salome, who also provided us with the history of the area, the life of indigenous people, and did some amazing experiments at the true equator. Following lunch at a local restaurant in Old Quito, we did a walking tour of that part of the city, which also included a chocolate tasting experience. Christian was a terrific guide, very aware of my physical limitations and tailored the experience so that all of us could enjoy the day. Thank you, Christian, for making our stay in Quito so memorable.
I felt this was a wonderful way to explore the outskirts of the city, The downtown area, and traveling out to the equator which in and of itself was a fantastic experience. We had lunch over looking the old square And really had a traffic day.
I had a tour with tour guide Pato. I learned a lot from just a single day and enjoyed every second of the tour. Pato brought me to the the central market first where we tried some unique fruits local to Ecuador. We then went to Teleferico and saw the gorgeous view from the top. Pato was not just a guide but also a photographer who a lot of pictures. Then I was able to ride a swing on top of the mountain and took a photo with alpacas. The next stop was at the middle of the world where I saw incredible experiments related to effects of equator. Then went on top of Basilica devoto nacional.
An exceptional tour with Pato. Pato was so accommodating and had a very thorough knowledge on everything. Did enjoy the short hike at 4000m and the visit to the chocolate shop. Overall, highy recommended tour!
We had a wonderful day with ‘Pato’ who brought us to a local fruit and vegetable market to taste the local fruits, went after to the cable car, then to the Basilica see the view up the stairs, had lunch to a really nice restaurant facing the Presidential square. We then went to a chocolate tasting in an artisanal factory and finished the day at a local market. Needless to say it was an amazing day. I really recommend using this tour operator to get a wonderful experience in Quito!!
Experienced Quito. Was amazing! The guide was phenomenal Parra Morales Galindo answered every question and was like a walking encyclopedia.
My husband and recently had a fantastic day touring several areas with Pato. Pre trip communications were efficient and we paid in advance which was nice. Pato picked us up in Mindo and we ended with a drop off at the airport. This was such a perfect day. Pato is so kind and professional. He pretty much knows everything about Quito's history, geology, flora, fauna, culture, etc., such a wealth of information. We visited the equator, caldera, cable ride, and old town quito. Pato had everything arranged and paid for and kept us safe and comfortable the entire time. This was comforting as we had all our belongings in his vehicle. We enjoyed a lovely late lunch together in Old Town Independence Square before doing more walking around the historical town. By the time we were dropped off, we felt like we had another member of the family. Thank you for a beautiful day!
Great day that far exceeded our expectations. Plato was very knowledgeable about flora, fauna, culture and history of both Quito and Equator. The best tour guide we have had in five weeks of touring in Peru and Equador! Bonus trip to hummingbird site and National Cathedral!
Excellent tour! Patricio is very knowledgeable. We only had one day in Quito. This was a great way to see the highlights with this tour.
Pamela was very friendly and knowledgeable. She spoke excellent English and was keen to customize the day to reflect our interests and ensure we did not repeat anything we’d covered on a previous tour. We had a great day particularly enjoying the visit to the old city.
We had the best time with Pato, our tour guide. When he arrived to pick us up, we wanted to make some changes to the itinerary because we had already seen some of the stops. He happily adjusted the entire day. The highlight was the private hummingbird preserve. I’ve never seen so many hummingbirds. Wanted empanadas for lunch and he took us to his favorite local place and it was fantastic. One of the best tour guides we’ve ever had.
Excellent guide. He was so informative. He showed us all around. We highly suggest booking this tour. It was fantastic.
We had an amazing full day tour with Galindo! Galindo was fantastic— he took us to the main sites, explained various elements of the local history and culture, took us to a great spot for lunch, and even adjusted the tour based on weather to see the hummingbirds! Awesome tour, thank you!
Pato was a fantastic tour guide and provided so much more info than I ever expected. He was also fun, energetic and very proud and joyful about his Ecuadorian heritage. His pride and joy was infectious. I highly recommend pato for any tour you want to take.
Palo was EXCELLENT. Full day which covered most of Quito, spectacular views, great history, shopping at a handmade hat shop. The best!
On my first full day in Quito, Pato picked me up promptly from my hotel. He connected with me through WhatsApp prior, to share what I needed to bring. Pato brought enthusiasm to the the day by sharing historical, geographical, and cultural stories pertaining to Quito and the surrounding areas. Each site was thoroughly explored and enjoyed! The restaurant chosen was excellent with local foods and ambiance. We talked easily throughout the day - felt like I was with a friend! I would not hesitate to recommend Ecuador a Color's City Tour with Pato as the guide! Melinda from Ontario Canada
We have travelled a lot and used many tour guides over the years, Pato was one of the best. Excellent English, very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about Quito and Ecuador. Highly recommend!!!
Milton was a very good guide and the driver was very good as well. You can customize this tour, which was great. We had just been to the equator 3 months prviously in Kenya, so we should have skipped the Middle of the World. But if it is your first time definely do it! The historical city has wonderful architure and is very lively! We were there on a Sunday, so were able to experience some church rituals and activity on the plaza. We even tried the meto, which was surprizingly good! We enjoyed the Botanical Gardens and Milton was very knowledgable about the plants, especially the orchids!
The private guided tour is well worth the money! My guide, Ismail, was absolutely delightful and was full of knowledge about Quito, Ecuador, and the natural environment. I had an absolutely wonderful day and would 100% recommend this tour, and especially Ismail!
We were looking for a tour that we could customize, and this one worked out perfectly. Our tour guide, Pato, listened to what we wanted, shared some of his ideas, and we came up with exactly the tour for the day that was perfect for us. In addition to visiting the old downtown, the gondola which included a light meal and swinging in the clouds at 13,000 feet, touring the Basilica and then the most spectacular bird sanctuary that we had ever seen, several personal favourites of his own were added. One unique thing was touring a local fruit and vegetable market, where our guide brought his own knife and cut open some of the unique fruit that we would never see in Canada. We were able to taste several delicious fruits that were from Ecuador farms. He also recommended a restaurant called La Vid which was absolutely outstanding, in the Market Square. We were thoroughly impressed overall and would highly recommend this tour to others and Pato as a guide in particular.
We had an amazing day exploring Quito with our guide, Pato! Our itinerary included the TelefériQo, the Basilica del Voto Nacional, Quito’s Old Town, and the Intiñan Equator Museum. Pato was fantastic from start to finish—super friendly, fun to be around, and incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area. He shared so many interesting stories and details that we never would have learned on our own, and he made every stop engaging and memorable. From the stunning views at the TelefériQo to walking through the historic streets of Old Town and visiting the Equator, everything was perfectly paced and enjoyable. If you’re visiting Quito, I highly recommend touring with Pato. He truly made the experience special and unforgettable!
Our private and personalized tour of Quito with Patricio (Pato) was truly an exceptional experience. From the very beginning, Pato demonstrated incredible knowledge about the history, culture, and traditions of the city. His explanations were detailed, engaging, and easy to understand, which made every stop even more meaningful. Visiting TelefériQo was breathtaking, and Pato made sure we had enough time to enjoy the views while also sharing interesting facts about the surrounding volcanoes and geography. Our visit to Middle of the World Monument was equally fascinating, as he explained the science and history behind the equator in such an entertaining way. Pato was professional, friendly, and very attentive throughout the entire day. He made the tour feel relaxed and personalized, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment. His passion for Quito and for guiding visitors truly shows. Highly recommended!
We had a delightful day with Galindo. We visited the Center of the World, went on a cable car ride up the mountain, toured the Quito Basilica, and walked through old town and some beautiful churches. Galindo booked a delicious lunch with Ecadorian favorites looking out on the town square with the large statue of the Blessed Mother watching from atop the hill. Our tour ended with a chocolate shop visit. The day couldn’t have been better.
Great day exploring Quito with tour leader Ismael who had a brilliant knowledge of Ecuador and its history. Walking tour of local market, tried some new fruits, walking tour of the Basilica, gondola ride to over 4000 meters, met some lamas, stood on the equator all topped off with a brilliant lunch. Tour highly recommend 👌
My wife and I, always chasing adventure, booked a private full-day tour with Ecuador A Color Travel CO, and honestly, it was one of the best travel decisions we’ve ever made. Our guide, Pato, was pure gold: warm, funny, endlessly knowledgeable, and somehow made every moment feel personal, like we were exploring with a friend who just happens to know everything about Ecuador. We kicked off at a bustling local market where Pato introduced us to a fruit vendor. He didn’t just point; he handed us slices, explained how locals use them, and made jokes about how one fruit looked like Bart Simpson’s Head. Total win. Then came the Teleférico cable car ride up Pichincha—stunning 360-degree views of Quito sprawled below, volcanoes in the distance. We hiked a short trail at the top, breathing that thin, crisp air. Pato kept us moving at our pace, pointing out local trees and identifying bird calls. Magic. Next stop: the Mitad del Mundo museum right on the equator. We did the classic “stand on the line, balance an egg” trick. No cheesy tourist traps, just real stories. Old Town wrapped us up: cobblestone streets, gold-leaf churches, and a tiny chocolate boutique where we sampled chocolates made from premium cacao grown in Ecuador. Pato knew the owner, so we got the insider scoop on how the company was built with fair trade principles as a foundation. I’m still dreaming about that last bite. Every step, he wove in Ecuador’s culture, history, flora, fauna. Never felt rushed, never bored. Just two adventurers with the perfect guide. If you want Quito done right—authentic, fun, and unforgettable—book with Ecuador A Color Travel CO and ask for Pato. We’re already planning our next trip.
We only had one full day in Quito and we are so glad we took this private full day tour with Pato. He customized our tour to our interests and we had a great time. One of the best day tours I have taken. We started off in a market tasting exotic fruit, tried several local dishes throughout the day, saw a lot of the main sights around the city, went up to the cable car, and the equator line. Would highly recommend.
We enjoyed our day seeing the sights of Quito. Our tour guide (Pato) was very informative, flexible and was greatly concerned that we would have an enjoyable day.
Our day with Gustavo was amazing! He not only knows Quito well, but he also has vast historical and biological knowledge that he shares along the way. We were able to have several wonderful experiences and Gustavo was attentive and accommodating to our needs and preferences. This tour was a great way to spend a day in Quito.
We had a half day private afternoon tour of Quito and Media del Mundo. Our guide, Galindo picked us up at our hotel on time. He was enthusiastic and informative. We had a good time! I would recommend this tour.
Great experience with Galindo. He is super knowledgeable on the area and made the experience enjoyable the entire time. He was very friendly and easy to talk to my. My girlfriend and I had a great time exploring Quito and would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
Wonderful experience. Great way to get a good introduction on our first day in Quito. Guide was very professional and personable, and was willing to accommodate our shortened time frame with some great ideas to make everything work. It was a great way to start our week.
My wife and I signed up for a private, full-day tour of Quito with Ecuador a Color through TripAdvisor. Our guide, Pato, picked us up our hotel in his very comfortable SUV and we had a brief discussion about what we wanted to see and do on our tour. Pato was very flexible and made some excellent suggestions to customize our tour. He's very personable, knowledgeable and speaks excellent english. During our day together, we covered a lot of ground - literally and figuratively - and enjoyed learning about local life, the city of Quito and Ecuador in general. By the end of the tour, we felt like we had made a new friend in Quito. I'd highly recommend Pato and Ecuador a Color if you're looking to have the absolute best experience.
Great way to discover Quito in a day. The guide (Patricio) was very knowledgable about Ecuador and Quito. We learned a lot and saw a lot. Highly recommended
We had the most wonderful experience with Patricio! We got to sample local fruits at a market, got to stand at the middle of the world, and he even took a small detour for us to feed hummingbirds which was absolutely amazing. You can tell that he is very passionate about his country and city. I cannot recommend him enough!
The tour was great! I was able to do a lot and see quite a few things throughout the day. This made planning and transportation much easier.
We had booked a day tour of Quito with Pato from Ecuador en color through (tripadvisor) and were picked up at the hotel. It was a perfect day with a lot of information about anything we were interested in, history, population, economical issues of the country, flora etc. Information before the tour was perfect with a list of things to bring along. We started with a stop in a local market and though we thought we knew all the many fruits available we tried more than five new local ones some of which only grow in Ecuador. Delicious. From there we went up with the telepherico, which takes you to more than 4000m and we had a wonderful view down on Quito and also saw parts of the volcano mountains on a small walk. We went to the equator and a funny educative museum. Later we explored the Basilica del voto national, which has fantastic views all over the city and great architectural details before ending the visit in the historic centre. Pato tailered the tour perfectly to what we had already seen before. He is a very knowledgeable guide with a detailed knowledge and a friendly person with a nice sense of humor and we recommend him absolutly for any activity in Ecuador.
