Overall very good. Our leader was very engaging and helpful. The mic failed but popped and talked to us directly. However, the bus broke down 2 blks from final drop off

A lot of fun and lots to see and learn. The bus as very nice. The museum was wonderful. Would go again if I had time just to walk around
Very educational and fun at the same time. Be prepared for the ride on the top deck of the bus…cold and bumpy.
Great educational experience in the middle of the world. 😁 Be aware that balancing an egg on a nail can be done anywhere in the world. It’s a myth to think that latitude 0 would increase the chances.
All this is is a ride to the Intinan Museum, which is a very tacky touristy 'museum' where you get the same 'tour' that comes with a $5 entrance to the museum. You then find your own way to the Mitad del Mundo complex, which is good for a few pictures and not much else. It's mostly just souvenir shops, and you have to figure out what is what on your own. It's a long trip for what is essentially a few photos, and there are better ways to pass your time in Quito
Worth seeing exact center of equator but time spent in fake little village is cheesy at best. I guess something to justify price.
First of all, shout out to Pamela for being an amazing tour bus guide!! This experience was so much more than I expected, and was one of my highlights of visiting Quito! I thought I'd take an Uber to the equator monument and just snap a picture, but I'm so glad I didn't. I learned so much on this trip about the equator and also the history of the Ecuador amazon life. The museum guide, Brandon, was exceptional in his explanations, and the equator experiments were phenomenal. And then there was plenty of time to go over to the other monument and visit the shops there, so it really was a well balanced day and definitely worth the money.
I booked this tour as a low cost way of getting to Mitad del Mundo...there were only 5 people on the tour and we all sat on the open air upper deck of the bus...our guide was friendly and provided some information along the way over a speaker system...to be honest, I only caught a small portion of what was said as it was hard to hear with the wind swirling on the upper deck as we're heading down the highway...first stop was the Intinan Museo where we were turned over to their own guides...our guide (Daniella??) there was awesome!...friendly and great with everyone, she was very knowledgeable and passionate about her country and it's history along with her geographical knowledge of the equator...one of the best tour guides I've had...next was a solo short walk over to Mitad del Mundo where I had about an hour to myself to explore that area...mostly shops and restaurants...there is a monument you can go inside and walk up with exhibits along the way and nice views from the top...then back to the bus to head back...overall, a good way to go for a solo traveler without a car
A fun mostly all day tour. The first stop was great and the guides were super nice and did a great job explaining everything in English and Spanish. The activities really made it extra fun. The second was pretty cool but more just a monument to see and walk to the top if you want. There are lots of shops and little waiters but it’s very touristy. The final stop if you did the whole tour was a little agave shop which was cool because you got to tour their little garden and taste test and even got a small free drink at the end. Worth it if you’ve got time and things of that nature interest you. Was just cool standing where the northern and southern hemispheres meet.
The tour bus was really nice - double decker. Things seemed quite organized at first and we got handouts with schedules and everything. The info given on the bus was great The tour at the Intinen Museum was AWESOME! I learned so much and it was genuinely super interesting. It was confusing to figure out how to get from the museum to the Mitad del Mundo monument. We had to do this on our own and the guide gave brief instructions, but I still got lost. There weren't really signs to guide you. The reason I give it 4 stars is because on the Viator description, it says my tour was supposed to include some sort of agave tasting at CASA AGAVE. The original bus guide even mentioned this that some tours included this. It seemed like you could pay for a cheaper version that only included the museum + monument. The guide told us to meet at the meeting point near the monument at 5:30. The driver was about 10 minutes late and I started to worry that we were in the wrong spot, but the bus eventually came. Then, the bus sat there for another 10 minutes before departing (not sure why). I assumed the driver would take us to the final spot on the tour CASA AGAVE, but I eventually realized he was just taking us all the way back to the meeting point. He didn't talk to us or ask any questions about which tour people were doing. I don't really care about missing the agave thing because I don't even drink, but it seemed like I should have paid less for the tour if that wasn't included. Or maybe there was a miscommunication with the bus driver. Either way, it was confusing.
The tour guide at the native museum was extremely good and the visit had way more aspects and covered way more topics that I expected. Being at the centre of the planet is also awsome experience. Lots of souvenir boutiques there too. I loved it.
If getting to the Equator is important, than going to the Intinan is a must. IMO, it was important. The museum is nice, and I enjoyed cultural exhibits. The ‘science’ demonstrations are silly, but what is wrong with silly fun. I was over stimulated by Mitad del Mundo, but the craft beer museum was my happy place. Casa Agave was really nice, and they did a great job explaining about agave’s importance to the region. Michilada tasted like somebody put juice in my beer, but I haven’t seen it anywhere else.
Great tour! Had a lot of fun at all of the stops. The intiñan museum was very informative and was a lot of doing all of the experiments at the equator. The middle of the world monument was very beautiful. I highly recommend upgrading the tour to go to casa agave if you like agave/tequila. Unforgettable day!
The two sites visited on this tour are a worthwhile visit whilst in Quito. However, this tour is $10 more expensive booking here than directly with the bus company so i felt hard done by when i saw their pricing. Also, this company only provides transportation to and from this site, so whilst this is perfect for solo travelers, it becomes much cheaper if there are multiple people to just share an uber to and from the site and pay the $5 entrance fees. I do appreciate the flexibility by the tour company as i was delayed to the bus and they kindly booked me onto a later leaving tour on the same day without any hassles.
It’s an easy way to get out of the city center and experience some pretty amazing sights. Mitad del Mundo has a charming village of shops and restaurants surrounding the huge monument. The Intinan Equator Museum really stole the show as far as zero latitude goes. Such an interesting, well done museum with guides who are very enthusiastic about the topics they present, especially physics at a the equator. We took the additional stop at Casa Agave to learn more about the distillation of the alcohol but got so much more. There is nothing left unused from the plant and this business is all about conservation and keeping cultural traditions alive. Not to be missed.
We booked this tour expecting to visit both Mitad del Mundo and Museo Intiñan. However, neither TripAdvisor nor the travel agency informed us that Mitad del Mundo would close earlier due to the Christmas holiday. As a result, we were unable to visit it. On a positive note, we had a great experience at Museo Intiñan, which was open and very enjoyable. Unfortunately, since Mitad del Mundo was already closed by the time we arrived, we could not evaluate or experience that part of the tour as advertised. We believe this information should have been clearly communicated in advance so travelers can make informed decisions, especially during holiday periods.
This trip was so fun. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and offered historic information in both English and Spanish. Mitad del Mundo is a staple part of a trip to Ecuador!
great guide. You should be happy with any response as life is short and you can only have so much of my tinme
Absolutely the perfect experience for a tour of Mitad del Mundo, the middle of the earth! The museum was fantastic, followed by a short walk the equitorial line!
Irene was a fine tour guide and Maurice did a good job driving in heavy traffic. The trip went to the "real" Equator museum and line and then a 5 minute walk along a dirt path gets you to the "Hollywood" version. That is built up with a lot of stores, more exhibits and so on, but the big monument is just slightly off the remeasured line. Still, going up by elevator to the top of that tower is a fun experience too. Frankly the first site, with excellent guides and a more compact and simple area where you can try hands on experiments, was the one I liked best. Both both are worth seeing. There are only 3 bus trips, leaving at 9, 11:30 and 2, so plan to be back at in Quito 1:30, 4 or 6:30 respectively. It takes most of an hour to get there from Quito, and the trip through the northern part of the city and out into the country is interesting. I found that the 3+ hours between drop off and pick up is plenty of time to visit these two very special areas.
This was a fun day. Adrian was super chill. Tbh, the equator sites are a bit cheesy. But that is okay I really want to say, though, that the Casa Agave experience was a highlight of my trip to Quito. I signed up for accident and had no idea what to expect, but I was beyond surprise. Yeah, the miske is delicious. Cocktails are superb. It’s cool to learn new things. But the staff here really made this. I was lucky to get a bit of time where I was the only visitor and just got to sit around chatting. And that’s the best part of travel: meeting new people from different cultures. Definitely add this on. It will make your day. Miske!
What a unique experience! My visit to Museo Intiñan and the Mitad del Mundo complex started from Bulevar Naciones Unidas and with the help of our guide Joe we didn’t feel the time to get there. I enjoyed both but definitely prefer the Intiñan Museum. Highly recommended to anyone with few hours to spare in Quito
Viator charges 35 usd for this experience, just go directly to the booth and they charge 25 usd, the experience itself is fine
Half day of various experiences near Mitad del Mundo. Intiñan museum first, then Mitad del Mundo monument and last Miske tasting at Casa Agave.
It was a great trip even though we were just two people on the bus that day but the tour operators fully honoured the commitment and gave us the full experience.
Really enjoyed visiting the Mitad del Mundo. It is a fun day trip from Quito. I should have taken more cash with me. There were lots of good shops and the restaurants were delicious. Worth the visit!!
I really enjoyed visiting the Middle of the World, especially the museum. Our guide was informative and knowledgeable. I enjoyed doing the experiments and I am proud to say I am an “Egg Master”.
This tour was essentially transportation to and from the museum and monument with tickets purchased. The bus ride did have a guide, Alejandro, who explained the area/terrain. He was also super helpful on helping to navigate the area and getting in and out of the areas.
The bus will drop you at point 1 n pick you up at point 2 at a fixed time. It can be cool even on a sunny day. Lots of tourists n tiktokers so hard to get clean shots n will need to post process
I did the 2pm tour of only 2 sites as i only landed in Ecuador that same morning and staying just 2 nights before flying out again, it was also mid week which i think means less people. So this short tour suited me just great as doing another tour the next day, all day. The description mentions a 2hour tour from 2pm, but on arrival to the bus, it is mentioned we would not be arriving back until 6:30pm. As someone that likes to schedule in a lot during their short stays or like myself, i have to do remote work from a certain time after the day adventures, this actual schedule should be in the description so it is not a surprise on the spot and i have to spend time re-coordinating things with the new return time (plus travel time back to hotel on top of this). It is literally handed to you on a flyer on arrival, so these times can be added in the description easy enough. Other than that, the actual tour is great. The tour guide on the way was very informative with a lot of information before we even arrived. The tour of the museum is also great with lots of information of animals, culture, history and of course the equator, with some fun science things to do. And then moving to the Mitad Del Mundo with plenty of time to look around and take all the photos with the monument. The time at each location was perfect and i was fine with not seeing the 3rd site listed. Overall i think it was great, to the point tour. Just need to be more clear with the times including the travel times, so the visitors can plane better.
There was not enough support regarding were to go and bus stop locations. Also, last stop was not my favorite time to spend as.
We had a fabulous time. Our guide on the bus was Pamela and she went out of her way to point out the sites as we were traveling. Two of our friends wanted to return to the hotel before the tour ended and Pamela got them an Uber and explained in Spanish all the details. She was so kind! There were many things to see and we had lunch there also. Terrific!
I loved that we didn't feel rushed. I was impressed with the museum. The tour guide was so funny. I liked learning about their culture and history. Being on the equator was a cool experience. We got to take a lot of fun photos. There were tons of souvenir shops and restaurants. Casa Agave was also wonderful. The tour was very informative. The place was decorated nicely. I really enjoyed the experience and the drinks were fantastic!
Awful. Was literally thrown around in my seat by an incompetent driver. Was able to see the road surface and it was fine. We pulled up to Mitad del Mundo and the tour guide said “oh no, we’re just picking up other passengers and leaving for the crater.” I left then and there and paid $20 for a taxi home, after seeing the monument. The new passengers? A couple from my own hotel that took the earlier tour. Also I asked the ticket agent if I could eat on the bus. “No.” Then turned the corner to see the driver eating inside the bus. Do better.
The pick up instructions were sketchy at best. It was only an 'address' for a bus stop. I looked up the address on Google Maps before I left the hotel so that I would recognize the location when I got to it. I showed the driver the address given. He drove me there. Once there, I double checked with a lady who worked at a nearby restaurant and she indicated the bus stop, according to the address. I was there a half hour early and stayed half an hour after the pickup time. The only buses that appeared were the blue city buses. I requested a refund and was given one, but missed out on the chance of a lifetime with this tour. Disappointing doesn't begin to describe my feelings regarding this missed opportunity.
This tour was an excellent introduction to my Ecuador trip. The journey began with a comfortable drive to the equatorial site, where a knowledgeable guide provided an insightful explanation about the significance of latitude and longitude at the equator. Following the guided session, we had ample time to explore the equator line independently, capturing memorable photos and browsing local shops. The experience concluded with the bus returning to pick us up, making for a seamless and enriching excursion.
We had such a wonderful time there it was amazing. It was a beautiful place to visit and learn something about the place….
I thought the museum part was very interesting and the guide’s English was very good. The big equator monument was also enjoyable. We skipped the agave part (had already done something similar). The guide’s microphone on the bus was terrible. Very loud and not clear…could not make out what he was saying because of the microphone.
The museum was really interesting with multiple guides taking you through the interactive displays. The center of the world monument was okay too and the museum inside the monument was a surprise. We didn’t really explore the village too much. But we really really enjoyed the Casa Agave visit. It was so much better than expected and fun.
This was an excellent tour to the Middle of the World, the monument and museums. Our guide, Irene, was an amazing host who provided great insights on Quito, Ecuador, and the stops. She went out of her way to help with additional suggestions and tips. A great tour!
Out Tour Guide Irene was the best! Her enthusiasm and love of Quito and Ecuador was contagious. She shared many insights and answers to our many questions as we visited each of the sights. Our driver Ivan was as also very accommodating. This was our first full day in Ecuador and was a great 1st impression!
Joaquim gave a commentary about Quito as we drove out of the city. It was very informative and interesting. The Inti nan was fascinating and a lot of fun doing science experiments with Nicholas. A staff member showed me to the short cut to the monument site and it turned out to be a pretty little shopping / cultural village set around the monument where I got the mandatory photos.
Great place to visit. Only improvement would have been to keep the top open on the second floor of the bus for the trip back and anyone that didn’t like that to ride on the first floor.
We went during the week when it wasn’t too crowded. It was beautiful and also showed different parts of Ecuadorian culture, including the history of chocolate.
Amazing tour and it worth to find the secret places!! Jessy the best guide tour ever !!!!! thanks a lot :)
Super fun tour of all of the Mitad del Mundo activities! Carlos was an awesome tour guide, very informational and helpful. It was nice to have a bilingual guide showing us around.
We were fortunate to have Erika as our tour guide for all three excursions we took in Quito. She is fun and super knowledgeable. I was impressed with how she had the ability to switch between English and Spanish so effortlessly. We wish she could be our tour guide for the rest of our time in Ecuador!!!
Diana was a great tour guide! She was very friendly and knowledgeable about Mitad del Mundo and the history of Quito. We went to the park in Mitad del Mundo and got to experience everything there. We tried to go to Puluahua but it got really foggy and just went into the museum there instead. On the way back we stopped in Pomasqui to eat some really good fritadas! I think this is a great way to tour Mitad del Mundo quickly if you don't have a lot of time. Also, Diana if you're reading this, I'm pretty sure I figured out why holding the jade kept you from losing your balance :)
For starters, Mitad del Mundo is not precisely on the equator; the true equator is about 200 feet away. The science museum was so-so at best, with many of the exhibits not in working order. The famous demonstration of water going clockwise down the drain on one side of the equator and counter-clockwise on the other side was rigged with faucets aimed to create the desired swirl direction. The knock-off Disney-esque park in which this museum sits, however, is pretty, and we had fun (and a nice meal in a second-floor restaurant overlooking the line that, again, is not the equator. This whole trip starts confusedly as half of a Quito City Tour, and requires a change of bus that is not made clear to all travelers. We left our hotel at 10 a.m. to catch this tour and we were not back at our hotel until 6 p.m. -- this is for a purported half-day tour, so be aware of the time commitment when you book this tour. Once you get on the correct bus, the tour heads north to the Pululahua Crater for about 20 minutes. This is pretty cool, to see a community of 200 people living in an active volcano crater. There are various things one can do at Mitad del Mundo, including the aforementioned science museum (don't bother standing in line if you are willing to take the stairs; the line is only for people who want to take the elevator to an observation deck on the top floor of the tower), various restaurants, many shops, singers and dancers in the town square, a playground, llamas, and a place to try to balance an egg on the head of nail (two of our party of four succeeded; the others didn't try). One last stop before returning to Quito is a distillery where one can sample misca made from the agave plant (following a brief but interesting tour and discussion of agave and its uses). The owner of the distillery, Diego, is so passionate about the agave and its products; just listening to him was both educational and entertaining -- with the extra bonus of a shot of misca at the end!
Unfortunately the weather was very cloudy at Pululahua viewpoint but rest of the tour was great. Daniel our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and Nixon our driver was great
