The Mindo day trip was fantastic. Our guide Mateo was perfect for us. He was extremely knowledgeable about the cloud forest ecosystem. At each stop he provided abundant information with plenty of time to enjoy the experience. The highlight for us was the birding. We were thrilled see and feed the numerous varieties of hummingbirds. We also spotted a lot of other species of birds which Mateo helped us identify. The entire day was wonderful.

We booked a private tour and had an amazing time. Our guide was Mateo and he was a great guide. From the start, we felt welcome and comfortable. We really enjoyed all parts of the tour. The lunch stop was amazing, really great food. If you would like a relaxed way to see the sights, I highly recommend this tour.

We had the great fortune of Adriana for our tour and can’t imagine a better experience. She was on time for our pickup and was an excellent driver the entire time with her. She shared a wealth of knowledge about Quito, about Ecuador, food, culture, environment, etc.. She was a great communicator that always checked to make sure we were doing ok or if we needed anything. Our first stop was for a walk on a scenic trail leading to a waterfall. We learned quit a bit about various plants and trees, as well as some of their uses. The second stop was the highlight of the day. We spent time at the Las Cotingas Bird Reserve where we were able to view toucans, tanagers and a variety of hummingbirds. We were able to feed hummingbirds and allow them to land on our hands and fingers. It was an experience we won’t forget. A third stop had us at.a butterfly farm where we were able to see a variety of butterflies progressing through various stages of metamorphosis. Afterward we enjoyed a fabulous local lunch, followed by a sampling of wines and local chocolates. On the drive back to our hotel we stopped at the Mitad del Mundo for a few pics at the equator. We had an awesome experience and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour and Adriana as your guide!

The best tour I loved this tour! Ines was knowledgeable and so helpful throughout the day. I did the longer hike and the waterfall was totally worth it! I had a good amount of time at each place, and having the hummingbirds eat out of our hands was so cool.

The hummingbird garden was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. It was spectactular to see so many different kinds of beautiful hummingbirds from so close. I would really recommend this place to anyone who visits Mindo on their trip through Ecuador!

This tour included a unique experience that we really enjoyed. Getting to feed the humming birds from our hands with so many varieties was awesome. We also got to see a toucan and some agouties. At the beginning of the tour we decided to do a hike to a waterfall instead of another option to see some plants and birds. We ended the tour with chocolate &wine tasting. Andres was very knowledgeable!

I travelled through Ecuador with my two daughters on a private tour, guided by Andrés and Mateo. They were both knowledgeable, reliable, flexible and genuinely caring. They showed us the incredible variety of Ecuador, from the Andes and Cotopaxi to Baños and the Amazon. We had a wonderful time with our guide Andres. He was personable and professional, and very patient as we were traveling with two older people, and he helped them on the hiking to the waterfalls. We also went on a national holiday and he was able to adjust our tour for us so we didn’t miss anything and we still made it back to the hotel to catch our flights later in the evening. The hummingbird feeding was perhaps our favorite part of the day and possibly of our trip to Ecuador. It was so much fun, holding hummingbirds on our hand while they drank the nectar. Also, one of our friends had a stomach problem and he was able to stop at a very great pharmacy so that we could get her some medication. Then we had a beautiful meal in Mindo Of trout and shrimp And also got to go visit the butterflies I’m sure he would’ve even stayed longer for us, but for the fact that there was traffic on that national holiday. He was also a great driver and that’s really important on these roads. All in all, it was a great day with a great guide that we will never forget.!

Highlight of my time in Quito, we saw more than 20 different Hummingbird species, got to feed them and it was magic. My tour guide Ines was incredible. She has so much knowledge, was so kind. We even so one animal called Tayra.

What an amazing day. From pick up to drop off, our guide Mateo exceeded our expectations with his attention, knowledge, and flexibility. His friendly and personable way made it feel like we were spending the day with a good friend who was showing us his favorite sites around and near Quito. He shared cultural and nature facts that allowed us to connect with our experience. We started with a trek to the waterfall at the Reserva Orquideoligica el where we saw and learned about its botanical beauty and wonders . Next, we visited Las Contigas Reserve, food station to Mindo’s hummingbird, bird, and critters. This was the highlight of the day as the winged wonders drafted and dashed about settle for brief moments to perch upon our outstretched hand to take in nectar. So many varieties and colors, from ones that wore white boots to metallically brilliant colors, just wow! We could have spend the whole day with there. Our next stop was Al Jardin de Las Mariposas where we saw the butterfly life cycle and walked through the jardin filled with a fluttering variety of butterflies. Then we made a quick stop at Mindo Maya Chocolate Artesaul for a couple of bars of amazing chocolate before driving to A La Mitad del Mundo for some pictures. One last stop at the Basilica del Coro National where we said farewell to the amazing Mateo and made our way up each of the breathtaking towers, spied the unique, locally inspired gargoyles, and snapped pictures of the breathtaking views, ornate structural detail, stunning stained glass. Such a wonderful day! *bonus to private tour is that we were able to set our own schedule, adding on the middle of the world and getting to the Basilica before closing.

We booked this tour ahead of our arrival in Ecuador. We received timely responses from Ines to all of our questions and our tour guide (Mateo Nicholas de Benueza Pepinos) was on time and ready at our hotel to get the day going as scheduled. The tour takes the entire day and there is a lot of driving required to get us to see everything in the cloud forest. Mateo was a great driver throughout the day and would safely stop/slow down anytime something caught our eyes. He shared a lot of information and details about the Ecuadorian nature. He took extra care and provided a helping hand on the trails/hikes so that my wife would be able to get everywhere given she sprained a knee a couple weeks earlier and was a bit apprehensive of those walks. The hummingbird portion was the highlight of this tour and we have countless videos and pictures of us feeding them. We also toured the butterfly farm where you can see from larvae to fully grown species - very beautiful. We highly recommend this tour and a big thank you to Mateo.

The guide, Andreas, was a wealth of knowledge! We learned about jungle plants, observed 20 species of hummingbirds from our hand up to several feet away, visited a butterfly arboretum, and learned why Ecuadorian chocolate is so good!

The scenery was spectacular, with lush vegetation, beautiful waterfalls, and incredible biodiversity everywhere we looked. The hummingbird reserve was amazing, and we were especially fortunate to spot two plate-billed mountain toucans, which was a real highlight of the day. The butterfly sanctuary was absolutely breathtaking, with hundreds of colorful butterflies creating a truly magical experience. Lunch was delicious, and the chocolate tasting was a delightful experience that perfectly complemented the day. A special thank you to our guide, Andres, who was excellent from start to finish. We learned so much throughout the day, and his knowledge, enthusiasm, and friendly personality made the experience even more enjoyable. He was a pleasure to spend the day with and truly enhanced the entire tour. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Quito and looking to experience the beauty of the Mindo Cloud Forest!

The guide was fantastic, we shared a great time together, full of knowledge. The entire cloud forest road was fantastic. In the hummingbird sanctuary I got the opportunity to see some different species of them even some of them landed in my hand to drink nectar and also in the same place I seen toucans and different kind of mammals too.

We spent our first full day in Equador on this tour with Matteo. It was a fantastic kickoff for our vacation! It was a nice mix of time viewing the countryside from the car and stopping for our visits. The highlight for us was the bird sanctuary. It was the experience of a lifetime seeing exotic birds and having hummingbirds alight on our fingers. Matteo was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and exemplified customer service. He clearly enjoyed sharing his love of nature with us. He was a great driver though the winding roads. Don’t hesitate to book this tour. Truly an experience we will never forget!

This was honestly one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences I’ve ever had. Our guide, Andrés, was exceptionally insightful, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire day. What I appreciated most was his flexibility — nothing felt rushed. If I wanted to spend extra time observing birds, photographing hummingbirds, or simply enjoying the forest, that was never a problem. And the wildlife was absolutely unbelievable. We saw more than 10 species of hummingbirds in a single day, often from extremely close distances. Almost all of them even landed on my arm while I was holding a feeder, which was an unforgettable experience. Beyond that, we encountered dozens of other bird species, including THREE species of toucans, which I understand is very rare to see during one tour. Andrés was incredibly sharp at spotting wildlife that I would have completely missed on my own. One of the most magical moments was finding tiny miniature frogs smaller than a fingernail hidden in the vegetation. The cloud forest is simply full of life everywhere you look. If you love biodiversity, birds, photography, or nature in general, I cannot recommend this tour enough.

Absolutely amazing! Mateo was a great guide. It was easy to book, easy communication with organiser. Mateo turned up early for pick up but didn’t mind waiting. He was very knowledgeable about the area and clear about the plan. We had an amazing time walking to the waterfall and then seeing the hummingbirds and butterflies. Well worth the money

Our guide was very nice and informative. We saw more than a dozen toucans, many humming birds and butterflies. The hummingbirds landed on our hands and drank from little cups. We saw 25 species of hummingbirds that were many colors. It was an amazing experience! Lunch was very tasty and the cacao wine was also delicious.

We had a fab trip and were brilliantly looked after by Andres and Charlie. Andres, as the guide, was a enthusiastic and knowledgeable communicator and made sure that we got the best out of the day without any time pressures…all of the stops were amazing but the trek and the hummingbirds were the highlights. Andres and Mateo were excellent tour guides. Full of knowledge. Was great they customized the tour to our liking. We enjoyed the longer hike to an amazing waterfall, spent time with 30 species of hummingbirds and visited a very cool butterfly sanctuary. All three places were the only tourist. Very private and intimate. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch of high quality local cuisine.

With so much to see and so little time, we had fantastic direction from our guide Ines. She put us on to the cloud forest day tour where we were picked up promptly by David(in his brand new vehicle- spotless). We were joined by a student guide- Mateo. Between the two of them we were afforded soooo much information. They shared history and culture and nature and politics. So helpful to better understand the Ecuadorian people and the passion they share for this beautiful country. We had all the choices on what to see and David and Mateo were able to guide us to see all the highlights in a day! Waterfalls, frogs, lizards and birds—- so many birds my wife loves hummingbirds and they were feeding from a small cap out of her hand. Dozens of species and so many in such a small area. We loved Mindo the town is quaint and has a real laid back vibe. We then had a chocolate experience at. The Mindo Maya was remarkable and learning about the entire process and the quality of beans- but as much the fruit and tea and chocolate processes. We absolutely loved the trip the drive was about 2 hours but with all the information, scenery and perfectly timed breaks it went wonderfully. Thanks to the entire team, David, Mateo and Ines

My friend and I were traveling to Ecuador for 6 days and thought this was a great day trip opportunity to go to the cloudy forest and mundo! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about quito, different plants and animals too. We enjoyed all activities of our tour. Started at 7:45 and got back to the city around 5:30. We got so lucky and saw toucans, so many hummingbirds landed on us, and saw tons of other species of birds. We had lovely weather and got to see a beautiful waterfall on a very doable hike. What a wonderful tour! Such a great way to occupy the day and explore the Cloudy Forest. Ines was super knowledgeable and kind and knew so many facts about the plants and environment. The waterfall hike was super fun. Wasn’t challenging at all but there was an option for a lighter walk if you don’t want to climb. The hummingbirds were amazing and they got so close to you! We even got a chance to see a species of Toucan native to that region of ecuador. Overall, was an extremely fun day. For two girls in our twenties we didn’t feel like it was boring. Our attention was hooked the whole time and the variety of activities made it even more fun. Better that we got to turn our brains off and not worry about transport/admissions:) 10/10 would recommend.

This was a truly great day! It was one unique experience after another, starting with the fact that it was a private tour that picked us up right at our door. Our guide, Andrés, was so lovely and kind. He picked us up, and we drove about 1hr out of Quito into the Mindo Cloud Forest and stopped for a hike to a waterfall which was truly beautiful). Then we headed to another stop in the forest where we went to see wild hummingbirds, and I cannot say enough good about this part of the experience. You hold little nectar cups and the hummingbirds will land on you (and it is a fully sustainable process, they are still wild in the middle of the forest, and have access to plenty of food if the nectar stopped being provided). We saw so many different species. Then we headed to a butterfly sanctuary, where we saw many more birds and TOUCANS!! We followed that up with a traditional lunch in Mindo which was delish, and a final stop for chocolate. There was so much info, Andrés was truly a wealth of knowledge and could identify all the birds and flora. Couldn’t recommend more.

This was a great tour! Andreas was very knowledgeable, we learned so much about the culture in Ecuador and everything about the plants in the cloud forest. One of our favorite parts of the tour was the hummingbirds feeding right from our hands. Adriana was also great on our tour taking pictures and offering more insight on the culture and history of the country. It was New Years Eve and we learned and saw much of the traditions of the Ecuadorian people. Including the teenage boys dressing up as women, it was something. They helped us buy a traditional dummy to burn at midnight to usher out the last year. Highly recommend this tour.

We had an amazing day with Andreas visiting the Mindo Cloud Forest. His knowledge and love for nature is clear for all to see. The hummingbird experience is a must do and was one of the highlights of our trip. We had a lovely lunch in a local restaurant and then dessert at the chocolate factory. It was a very well thoughout itinerary with loads to see, and thank you for trying your hardest Andreas, to find me a toucan! It didn’t happen unfortunately but it definitely didn’t spoil the day!
