Cotopaxi Horseback Riding Tour From Quito – Andes Adventure

My experience in the Cotopaxi riding horse tour has been excellent. My guide Ayrton is very gentle, knowledgeable and made the trip very special .The trip is long in the car to the park but the time passed quickly with Ayrton conversation. Ayrton was really kind to take pictures of me when riding in the park, and we managed to do some trotting and cantering. The little museum has good pictures of the crater of the volcano, so I recommend to visit, doesn't take long. The restaurant was really good with good views of the volcano, although we didn't get the seats by the window.

We had an absolutely wonderful day exploring beautiful Cotopaxi with Ayrton as our expert guide! He was knowledgeable, kind and attentive and truly exceeded our expectations, I will recommend him to friends for future trips. It was certainly a day to remember!

I really enjoyed my trip to the Cotopaxi National Park. My guide was lovely to talk to. We went to the hut on the Cotopaxi and I was struggling, but he gave me all the time I needed to adjust to the altitude. No stress at all. After I went on a scenic and incredibly long horseback riding trip through the National Park. The landscape was simply stunning, felt always safe and enjoyed so much seeing the "wild" horses. Highly recommend this trip, would do it again!

Pedro picked me up from my hotel right on time at 7am and we drove up in a nice clean new car to Cotopaxi. I was the only guest driving up. We went on a 3 hour horse trek which is very easy - even for beginners. Super calm ponies going at a slow rate. Very peaceful and meditative. Then we had a choice of driving up to the volcano peak or going for a walk around the lagoon. I chose the latter and it was very pleasant. It was a very windy day. Lunch was a simple authentic meal that hit the spot and then we had a good drive home. Thanks Pedro!

This was an incredible tour with incredible guides. Our guide, David, couldn’t have been more informative or accommodating throughout the entire ride to and from through the volcanic high country. The horseback guide, Patricio, was also super informative and kept a perfect pace during the horse ride through the Cotopaxi park. He treated us to a mix of terrain, trots and gallops, and a super friendly demeanor the whole time. Finally, our driver, Roberto was excellent. He kept our trip on track, guided us safely through some rough roads, and even joined us on our on the hike up to base camp at 16,000 ft. Overall, this tour is an amazing value that provides a ton of great sites in a picturesque part of Ecuador. I absolutely recommend it.

David, our tour guide, and Roberto, our driver, were wonderful! David has extensive knowledge in Ecuatorian history and culture so throughout the day he gave us wonderful information at each point along the tour. He and Robert climbed to the base camp at Cotopaxi with us. David gave us great advice and patience as we climbed to our destination at 15,980 feet. They were also our dining companions at a lovely local restaurant and David made sure to communicate with the cooks earlier in the day to accommodate my good allergies (no gluten or lactose... so sad!). They picked us up on time, gave us tons of info, made sure we had time to stop for snacks and bathroom breaks. They took us to meet Patricio, our horse-back riding tour guide. The entire experience was wonderful! We've even booked another tour with David for later in the week to go to Mindo we had so much fun! Highly recommend!

The Horsebackridigtour with the guide Ayrton and the driver Carolina was super amazing! They were realy helpful and knew everything about the natur and animals in Cotopaxi. We were so close to wildhorses and saw a lot of different flowers. We had a geat day! Thank you!

We had an amazing tour with Pedro and Carolina! There was great communication as soon as we booked the trip. The vehicle was very comfortable and clean. Pedro arrived promptly for our tour. We started with a nice drive to Cotopaxi National Park. Pedro shared a lot of information about the history of the area which was great to learn. We started with a two and a half hour horse ride. It was both our first time riding a horse and the team was patient with clear direction. We really had a fun time Doing this. Pedro was very accommodating and let us do slightly shorter ride so that I could have an opportunity to climb to base camp of Cotopaxi! It was completely exhilarating and one of the highlights of my trip to Ecuador. After we visited a lagoon to bird watch and then had a very nice meal. Pedro also arranged to drop us off at a safe bus stop so we could travel to Ambato after the tour since we were half way there. He did offer a transfer himself but we felt safe to take the bus. Thanks for an amazing tour! Everyone needs to try! 10/10.

Ayrton, our guide, and our driver Santiago were absolutely wonderful! Beautiful landscape and very knowledgeable and friendly. Still enjoyed the ride even as experienced equestrians. Lunch was delicious as well.

My girlfriend and I booked this tour on our trip to Ecuador and we were simply amazed. From the scenic drive to the volcano, to the unforgettable horseback riding experience through the park, to the amazing hike up Cotopaxi, everything was perfect! Our guide, Pedro, was very friendly and had many interesting facts about Cotopaxi and Ecuador. Shout out to Jimmy, the professional driver who drove us safely all the way through the from our hotel, all the way to and through the park and partway up the volcano!

we went with Pedro, and first, we stopped and he bought us water and snacks. Then we went for a tiny walk in the Cotopaxi national park and finally did the 3 hours horse tour. Then we went to eat and it was all included. Then we were brought back to our hotel. Absolutely worth it, 10/10, Pedro was amazing and the view was spectacular. Horses were super well behavied. The whole experience was amazing

I would 100% recommend this trip - it was one of the best tours that I have taken. The landscape was phenomenal but it was really Pedro that made the tour. He was pleasant to be around, knowledgeable, and made sure that I was comfortable throughout the ride. A couple of suggestions: bring warm clothes. It can be chilly, windy and rainy. Also make sure to use plenty of sunscreen. Lastly, eat a big breakfast or bring some snacks. We didn't make it to lunch until nearly 3:30pm. All in all - I highly recommend!

We had a great day at Cotopaxi with Pedro as our guide. He rode along with us as well as the local horse guide. He was kind enough to translate for us and take photos. It was cloudy so we did not do the base camp ascent but walked around the lake and had a lovely lunch. 100% recommend!

This was the best experience ever!! Pedro is amazing and made everything go seemless. From pick up to drop off he over accommodated. The horses were exceptional. The ride was so enjoyable and the views are out of this world. 10/10 would do this over and over again.

It was a truly exceptional experience! We had beautiful views of the volcano, the horseback riding experience was something not to be missed. This was an amazing day, starting with the majestic Cotopaxi volcano. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I was up to climbing to the base camp, but Pedro my guide, stayed with me and let me go at my own pace. Watching the mist swirl in and around was magical and I was so glad I did this. The afternoon had a much less strenuous horseback ride through some truly beautiful scenery. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

It was a magnificent day. I went with Pedro to Cotopaxi and I did horseback riding. Best tour ever! Amazing. Best tour guide. Explaining a lot about everything. He even helped me with a little phone problem while waiting in the traffic jam. We did a hike to 4.800 m . It was so beautiful up there. We also see a wild beer. The horseback riding was awesome. They let you free you can go galop or just walking. We go through rivers as well. It was a very great day.

We were driven through the national park by our guide, Pedro, who was wonderful. He was very nice, a great driver, and very knowledgeable about the park and the wildlife. We had a great time exploring the park with him. The hike portion of the trip was more intense than we expected, but Pedro guided us slowly up the volcano and back and then we spent two hours riding on horses through the beautiful park. Lunch afterwards was late in the day, but delicious, and then Pedro took us home. A great day in the National Park!

In full transparency, my sister and I were a little confused as to when the tour was to start, so we were up quite early when it was not necessary. However, when we enquired with the company there was a rapid response with clarification. Our guides, Lili and Carlos Iza picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Cotopaxi. They were absolutely wonderful. En route, they stopped to show us a beautiful view of the city and also a small market to get some food. Carlos provided us with so much information and was simply a joy to converse with, as was Lili. They also took many opportunities to stop and snap some pictures. Once at Cotopaxi, Carlos and Lili stopped to let us get some tea and get acclimated. And then Lili professionally navigated the bumpy road and Carlos guided us slowly but surely to the refuge. Providing information and many opportunities to stop and acclimate to the altitude. For the horseback riding there seemed to be a little mix up, but Carlos and Lili handled it and made sure we got a tour. It was really enjoyable. One caution, we didn't get a ton of guidance/instruction in the riding itself. My sister has experience so she gave me some pointers. I don't know if this is normal or if this was because we both had some experience previously. However, this was a gorgeous horseback ride and the guide really allowed us to just enjoy, answering questions as we had them. Once we were done with this, we met back up with Carlos and Lili and they took us to a lagoon for one last stop for some more pics and a little more walking. Afterward they took us to dinner at a restaurant on the drive back. They made sure that the restaurant had the dishes we wanted to try. After dinner they allowed us to nap in the back as they drove us back. A few cautions, both my sister and I felt the effects of the altitude by the end of the day (headaches, a little off). Also, make sure to have snacks or purchase snacks along the way. We had breakfast around 8 and didn't have the lunch until around 3:30, which was a tad long for us with the physical activity. That being said, overall, we really enjoyed this tour. Thank you Lili and Carlos!

Because we couldn’t fly directly to Galápagos Islands we decided to make the best out of our stay in Quito and booked this double event; hiking to Cotopaxi and horse-riding afterwards. It was a fun, exhausting adventure. The organisation was flawless and we had a lot of fun enjoying the beautiful scenery riding on the horseback. Our guide was very friendly and made the whole thing perfect.

Spectacular! One of my best moments in Ecuador! I hesitated between crying with emotion and having an orgasm in front of so much beauty during the horseback ride! But all day was great! The guide, Pedro was great: super friendly, available and attentive! The climb to Cotopaxi was superb and not too hard and the view indescribable! And then, the horseback ride was the highlight of the show, even of my stay there! And I went to the Galapagos, it’s not much to say:-) I recommend 1000%

Actually the tour is great because you can hike to a good height of 4860 meters. Also the horseback riding is great because the docile horses and you can go slow or fast second your experience. I didn’t have so I was going most slowly but sometimes I accelerated but beyond that the incredible view, very relaxing. You can see condors, wild horses, 2 white-tailed deer and other birds. My experience was good and I could eat baked (typical food, not from a restaurant I wanted the real food)
