Andres was a wonderful, engaging, knowledgeable and very friendly tour guide. Both he and the driver, Diego, provided us with a highly memorable tour. This was our favorite tour out of our 4 days in Quito. A large part of it was due to Andres. We highly recommend Andres and Diego!
One of the BEST tours I've ever taken. My daughter and I travel the world visiting Volcanoes and we are so happy we chose this tour guide for Cotopaxi and Quilatoa! Andres and Jimmy were super friendly, accommodating, punctual, and knew the complete history of the area. The sights were spectacular, unforgettable, and easy to access. We left completely satisfied. I highly recommend this tour guide to visit these infamous bucket-list volcanoes!
Andrés was an excellent tour guide. His knowledge of the zone, the fun facts, the trivia questions and the cool attitude made this experience one of a kind! Ciro was an excellent driver and got us back and forth safe. Thank you! The tour was just enough to get good photos from both places, grab lunch and head back. If you want to take a longer experience on either place, probably book a full day per location.
Irene tour guide and Jimmy our driver were excellent. Irene's passion and knowledge made our trip very educational and beautiful experience. I highly recommend her. As any nature excursion it always depends on the weather and mother nature. We had good weather so we were able to see the beautiful Cotopaxi volcano and Quilotoa. Some advice take your time because elevation sickness is real also wear appropriate clothing as weather changes quickly.
100% the best way to maximize a short stay over in Quito! Thanks to our guide, Rasu, we were able to get some amazing photos at both Cotopaxi and Lake Quilotoa and return to our hotel in a reasonable amount of time. The alpacas are as advertised btw and super cool! I highly recommend this tour. It’s worth the extra $.
We booked the tour with Viator and Ayrton is our guide. He is very knowledgeable and explained all the history and importance of the places we visited. I would highly recommend this tour with Ayrton.
Great experience! I had Andres as my guide and Jimmy as my driver. Both were very kind, prompt, informative. Jimmy was an excellent driver, so glad I did the tour so I didnt have to drive those windy roads myself. Andres provided ample knowledge during the drive and will at each of the stops. Would highly recommend this tour Note: I am an active hiker, the elevation really got to me. Was surprised by it but Andres was so kind and helpful along the way.
We had an absolutely amazing day touring Cotopaxi and Quilotoa with Irene! Since we were the only two on the tour, she personalized the entire experience to match our interests and let us explore at our own pace. She was incredibly warm, welcoming, and spoke excellent English, making it easy to learn so much about Ecuadorian history, traditions, and culture throughout the day. One of the highlights was visiting an authentic indigenous restaurant where we had the opportunity to try guinea pig—a unique cultural experience we never would have found on our own. Irene also took us to a local artisan shop where we purchased beautiful souvenirs made from real llama fur. Both Cotopaxi Volcano and Quilotoa Lagoon were absolutely breathtaking and exceeded all of our expectations. The scenery was unforgettable, and Irene’s knowledge and passion made the experience even more special. If you’re visiting Quito, this tour is an absolute must-do, and we can’t recommend Irene enough. She truly made our one day in Ecuador unforgettable!
My sister and I joined this tour to explore Cotopaxi and the beautiful natural landscapes outside Quito. Our guide and driver, Ayrton, was friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. He drove us about an hour outside the city to Cotopaxi National Park. We started with a brief visit to an educational center before continuing toward the volcano. Although it was a cloudy day, we were still able to catch glimpses of the glaciers near the summit. Ayrton was great about stopping for photos and helping us spot local wildlife along the way. We then visited a nearby lagoon, where we took pictures and learned more about the area’s natural history. Next, we drove through several small towns, stopping in Tigua to visit a well-known artisan shop. From there, we continued to the Quilotoa Lagoon Reserve. We walked to the lookout point for stunning views of the lagoon, took plenty of photos, and enjoyed a short hike down into the crater before making the climb back up in time for lunch. After lunch, we began the long journey back to Quito. Despite the distance, we arrived with enough time to watch Ecuador play their FIFA World Cup match. This tour involves a full day of sightseeing and quite a bit of driving, but Ayrton made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience two of Ecuador’s most iconic natural landmarks.
Our guide was excellent. We had one get altitude sickness (we are from sea level) and they were great and stopped when we needed and helped get us what we needed. We didn’t get to do all the hiking that we wanted to but that was because of us, not the tour. Couldn’t have asked for more from the agency.
We had a great day to Cotopaxi and quilotoa with Pedro. We had good weather and were able to see both volcanos. Pedro was very personable and was a wealth of knowledge for everything we were experiencing
Lucia and Andrés were fantastic guides. They helped me understand the area, history and ecology of both Cotopaxi and Quilotoa. They were incredibly accommodating and helpful. Highly recommend them!
Very good day. Got lucky on weather. The sites were beautiful and Andres did a great job. Our driver, Jimmy, did a great job too. Lots of time driving but some really good scenery. Saw wild horses, llamas, white tail deer, cara cara, coots, andean gulls... Would recommend but weather could impact views
Touring with Pedro was exactly what we needed! Everything ran seamlessly. His knowledge and expertise helped us learn so much about the areas we visit and even made sure we got great photos when the clouds cleared and Cotopaxi was in full sight! We are going back to Quito next year and will absolutely be working with Pedro again!
It was a long day, a lot of driving, but both Cotopaxi and Quilotoa are amazing. Guide Ayrton was very nice and provided lot of info during the day. We visited also an Art Gallery, with beautiful hand paintings, hard to resist to not buy some.
My partner and I spent a memorable day visiting the awesome Cotopaxi Volcano National Park and the spectacular Laguna Quilotoa. What made the all-day trip so worthwhile was our engaging and personable guide Andres, who was extremely informative throughout the tour. Adding to the awesome view of the volcano was seeing condors, wild horses, and deer and feeding alpacas. The two-hour drive from Cotopaxi to Quilotoa takes a winding mountain road, but the scenery was amazing, and our driver Jimmy did a masterful job.
We had a wonderful time with our guide Rasu and driver Jimmy. Though very foggy/cloudy in the morning, we spent a bit of extra time at Cotopaxi to see it in a small period of sun. Communication confirming the tour was great and put my mind at ease
Wonderful day, we saw a lot, and we have learned a tremendous amount of information from Alex. Kudos to her and Pedro for a fantastic trip
Andres and Jimmy were absolutely amazing during this tour. We had a private tour so Andres was very flexible and always asked us what we preferred to do, while also providing enough guidance on what he thought would be better. He answered all of our questions and was such a great, caring presence to be around! Couldn’t recommend this pair more! My only qualm about this tour was there’s A LOT of driving as Cotopaxi and Quilatoa are pretty far from each other. Not anyone’s fault other than ours for not checking though! ALSO Andres was kind enough to bring some extra jackets bc it was a bit cold that day at Cotopaxi… so incredibly nice!!
I booked a solo trip with Dani and William, the tour guides. They were amazing from the moment I was picked up to the moment I was dropped off. They were patient with all my questions and inquires about Ecuador. This was my first time in Quito and I really loved the experience in Cotopaxi and Quilotoa Lagoon. We also got to eat lunch in Quilotoa Lagoon that was included. I definitely recommend everyone to book this trip as you got to visit two places in one day.
Pedro took us to the Cotopaxi Volcano National Park and Quilotoa Volcano Crater. The drive was scenic and Pedro shared an abundance of knowledge and enthusiasm. We saw so much of Ecuador south of Quito and Pedro explained the cultures and agriculture so well. He stopped to let us take many pictures which we appreciated! The driving time was 5+ hours. We feel that Trip Advisor should have described the trip more thoroughly to include drive time and explanation of sites. Mostly, we feel the price charged was too much and is not a good reflection of trip. Lunch was average. This last paragraph should not reflect on Pedro what so ever as he is an asset for Trip Advisor.
We had limited time in Quito, and while this is a long excursion, it was well worth it! Our guide, Rasu, was fabulous! Personable, knowledgeable, and a great ambassador for the region and the country. Cotapaxi was hidden by clouds when we first visited the park, but revealed her beauty later in the day. Quilatoa was an amazing spot. The walk down toward the lake was relatively easy, but the return uphill was quite strenuous, due to the altitude.
Wonderful experience - Andres was a great guide - very knowledgeable. Santiago was a great driver for this long excursion. The volcanoes were spectacular - we were very lucky with the weather. Lunch was terrific local food - muy bueno! My only caution would be to be prepared for very winding twisty roads up to the second volcano. Quillatona. Worth the long drive full of switchbacks at 14,000 feet altitude - spectacular views. Just be prepared if you get carsick.
This was such an exhilarating experience Definitely not for the weak hearted - but so worth it. I had the most attentative and fun tour guide, his name is Alirio, his English was exceptionally and his knowledge and sense of humor was amazing. He was very patient in explaining and letting me have the best experience of things I wanted to try during my tour. 100% recommend The views, the experience, the thrill, the live in the moment of seeing such amazing natural world creation is beyond anything I could've imagine This needs to be on everyone's bucket list from visiting the Cotopaxi national park, to visit a lagoon in the crater of Quilotoa and then hiking down and kayaking and horseback riding. Until now it feels so surreal
After nearly two weeks of nonstop travel and activities we were exhausted, but Cotopaxi and Quilotoa were at the top of our list of things we wanted to do and so we continued on with our planned activity. We really appreciated Pedro's flexibility with us cutting some things short and mainly hitting the highlights. The included Ecuadorian lunch was great. We enjoyed the background information that was provided about the indigenous community around Quilotoa and wished we'd had the energy to interact more meaningfully with them, explore the Saturday market, and fully experience the cultural aspects of the tour. Overall, we loved the tour and Pedro and the long drives provided us some much needed time to rest while experiencing parts of Ecuador we wouldn't have seen otherwise. It was a great endcap to our travel, although we'd recommend others schedule it earlier while you still have the stamina to take full advantage of what this day tour offers.
This is a long day, but it gives you the chance to see 2 amazing places in Ecuador if you’re short on time. My guide was Pedro, and he was outstanding! He was very personable and made the trip comfortable and fun. He has a lot of knowledge of the areas you visit on this trip but also other areas I asked about. I learned a lot about Ecuador during my trip and got to see many parts of it. Going through the Andes was a wonderful experience, and Pedro’s driving on all the tight curves and steep hills was perfect! Definitely recommend this trip
Ayrton (sp?) and Santiago were the perfect pair for our trip to Cotopaxi and the Lagoon. Ayrton was amazing with his dialogue, and answered any of our questions. Santiago was very helpful to me, since I was recovering from a hip replacement, slower than anticipated when we booked this tour. Our lunch at the indigenous town was exceptional. The day could not have been better, and I thank Ayrton and Santiago very much.
This experience was amazing! Veronica and Diego were great! Very professional and knowledgeable. I learned a lot about the culture. Thank you for an amazing time. Keep being great!
My guide Ayrton was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and interesting. The day was very relaxed, we didn’t need to rush but saw everything planned
Pablo was our guide and he gave us a lot of information about the volcanoes in the area and the fauna. Byron was our driver and he did a wonderful job. We loved seeing Cotopaxi and crater lake.
Fantastic tour start-to-finish: highly recommended for all. Great team and great experience. Can’t thank them all enough.
This was a very long and pretty exhausting tour, but it was worth the effort. We saw a lot, even with Cotopaxi hiding behind the clouds. Our guide Andres shared a lot of insights about the indigenous people and their culture, traditions, alternative medicine and more. He also arranged our schedule very well, keeping an eye on the constant changing weather conditions. The trip brought us to the back country, which is beautiful and gives a view on life in Ecuador outside the big city. The ride itself is tough and people with motion sickness should prepare for steep, curvy and bumpy roads.
This was a wonderful experience, we only had a short time to explore and got to see everything we wanted to in just the day!
The came and picked at 8.30 AM and visited all places as. Per program. The driver is very cooperative and very helpful. I strongly recommend this agency and specially the driver
Doing both the Cotopaxi and the Quilotoa Volcanos in the same day was amazing! Great views, a bit of hike, stops to admire local artists work and a very, very nice tour guide made this tour amazing. Our tour guide, Ayrton was very nice, knowledgeable and shared with us a lot of history, information along with his love for Ecuador! We are so glad we booked this tour!
This excursion has a lot of driving time so it’s recommended to schedule it when you need a day of relaxation. Our guide, Pedro was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. We were lucky with weather and got to see the glaciers at Cotopaxi. The walk around the lake at the bottom was interesting. Pedro was mindful of the time and made sure we arrived at Quiotola before the cloud coverage. The drive between the two is long but the views are beautiful and interesting. Lunch was authentic and delicious. There were plenty of opportunities to use the bathroom.
We had an amazing day with an amazing guide! Our guide Ayrton was very knowledgeable, kind and patient. He stayed extra time for us to see the Cotopaxi volcano through the clouds and get the perfect picture together. The lake was also beautiful and we learned a lot about Andean culture. We even visited a local art gallery where we met a family who creates beautiful local art. A delicious lunch included too.
Overall it was an awesome experience with Andres and safe driver Santiago. Andres is a very passionate individual and cares about his customers. He is very knowledgeable and shared his vast knowledge during the trip. He is a great asset to his organization and will perform very well with other customers.
Excellent day seeing two fabulous landmarks of Equador! It’s a lot of traveling but it’s worth it to see These two amazing places! Pedro our guide was so knowledgeable and made our day very comfortable
The planned activities are too ambitious and too far apart from each other. The proposed hikes were ill described and there wasn’t enough time to do the Quilotoa hike as we didn’t arrive until 1:30 and we still had to have lunch. Therefore, we didn’t get to the hike part until three o’clock. With a very long time in bus ahead to get back to hotel. The only very positive experience was both our guide, Ayrton and our driver, Guillermo were amazing. In addition, allowing a sick person to join the group has resulted in one of our party to become ill. I would suggest a refund option for those who condition compromises the health of others.
The guide was great -- knowledgeable and flexible. Unfortunately, I went at the end of the dry season, so I never did get to see Cotopaxi. That was not the fault of the tour, however! Ecuador is a wonderful place to visit, not only the Galapagos but also the Andes and the Amazon basin.
Diego was prompt and friendly. His explanation of the scenery and knowledge of Ecuador was extraordinary. It was a packed day of great scenery and experiences.
Great trip. Pedro was very informative and went above and beyond! Navigated traffic and other obstacles without issue.
What an incredible day touring Cotopaxi and Quilotoa. Andres was a terrific guide. He is so passionate and knowledgeable about the mountains and the indigenous people of the Equadorian Andes. He is also very personable and made a long day enjoyable. The driver, Jimmy was so cautious and alert. We felt very safe in his hands. He also has a great personality. We highly recommend this tour especially with the team of Andres and Jimmy.
Alexandra was phenomenal! So knowledgeable, fun, and engaging! Our driver was also very friendly and a very good driver! The trip was perfect!
The Cotopaxi and Quilotoa Tour was an unforgettable experience that truly exceeded my expectations. Myriam, our guide, was passionate, friendly, and full of fascinating insights about Ecuador’s culture and nature. She made every stop meaningful and kept the group engaged and happy throughout the day. Don Holger drove safely and professionally, making the journey comfortable even with unexpected road closures. The scenery was simply breathtaking — from the majestic snow‑capped Cotopaxi to the vivid emerald lagoon of Quilotoa. If you are visiting Quito, this tour is an absolute must. You’ll leave with stunning photos and memories that last a lifetime.
Had a great time exploring Cotopaxi and Quilotoa Lagoon. Spectacular views and scenery. Diego was an excellent guide with so much knowledge of the area. 10/10 recommend!
Had a fantastic experience with Andrés as my guide and Jimmy as my driver. They both went above and beyond to ensure I was able to see everything I wanted in Cotopaxi and Quilotoa. I couldn’t recommend them enough. Andrés even hiked to the bottom and top of Quilotoa with me, which wasn’t easy!
The tour is amazing and covered two major destinations plus other highlights along the way. The guide Andres was fantastic, as was the driver Jimmy. Andres spoke English well, was very informative, and has real enthusiasm for the natural beauty of his native country. Most highly recommended!
