During our recent Rocky Mountaineer vacation through Canada, we had occasions to be bused on excursions by the Brewster Company. On two of those excursions we were fortunate to have Mr. Matthew Rogers as our driver. He was a kind, pleasant, witty, knowledgeable driver, and a great story teller. He was prompt, careful, and concerned for our safety. We enjoyed the time we spent with him as our guide and driver.

Limpiopungo Lagoon is a beautiful lake formed by water from the glaciers. It is located very close to the Cotopaxi volcano from this point we can observe the different species of birds, native plants of the area and the volcanoes near the park.
Finally we will go up to the parking lot to start our walk to the José Rivas refuge located at 4,864 meters above sea level. The walk can take between an hour and an hour and a half, the most important thing is to enjoy the road and the beautiful landscape.

The Devil´s cauldron waterfall or Pailon del Diablo Waterfall is 262 feet (80 meters) high, the waterfall feels so much taller when standing right next to it. Part of the reason it feels so massive is that huge amounts of water are compressed into a narrow channel before exploding off a mountain ledge. The force of that churning water created a dramatic bowl where it meets the mountain. That bowl holds all of that swirling water before allowing it to exit through a rocky channel down to the valley below. We will make a walk to get next to the waterfall.

AMAZING FOUR DAY TOUR! This tour was a great way to see many places of mainland Ecuador. Our first day to Cotopaxi was with our guide, Irene. She was funny and extremely informative. She helped us through the tough climb and made it all worth it. The views from the basecamp was amazing. The rest of our tour was with our guide,Jorge, and drive, Pato. Both Jorgr and Pato were so kind and they made us feel safe. This tour was incredibly adventurous and fun. We learned so much from them as well and really became immersed in the culture. Had an amazing once in a life time tour with them!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO BOOK THIS TOUR!
AMAZING AND FUN EXPERIENCE! Had a four day tour around major palces in Ecuador with our amazing guides Irene/Jorge and amazing driver Pato. They made us feel safe and welcomed. Irene was our guide for Cotopaxi. She is funny, kind, and very informative. She helped us get through the tough hike but it was all worth it. She answered all our questions and took the best picture of our lives. Rest of the tour was spent with our guide Jorge. Our journey during this tour was adventurous, fun, and relaxing. I learned so much for them and experienced our once in a life time trip! Highly highly recommend this tour with them!!!
A fantastic trip with so much to see and experience in Ecuador. Ernesto was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and professional, and also became a friend. We learnt a lot about the cultural, historical, geographical and climatic zones. We also had fun with the numerous activities, adventures, and lovely meals. He was a great photographer too. We loved Ecuador, importantly because we had Ernesto as our guide. Thank you.
I took the tour to show a foreign friend part of my country, and it was the best decision! The tour is excellent, and the guide, Ernesto, is even better. It was an incredible trip where you get to see so many places and experience different things in a short amount of time. Ernesto is super cool, knows a lot, and is an excellent guide and photographer. If you want to take the tour, don't hesitate. I hope Ernesto will be your guide so you have the best experience.
My family did the 4 day tour and it was absolutely amazing! Irene was our tour guide and she was incredible. She is knowledgeable, kind, passionate, and so incredibly fun! We could trust her with all of our questions (we had a lot!). She helped us find good food for our dietary needs, went out of her way to support us, and make sure absolutely everything was amazing. Irene absolutely made the tour! Make sure you specifically request her and you will won't regret it! She has a bright personality, incredible English, is an encyclopedia of knowledge, and is truly passionate about showing the diversity and beauty of her country. Similarly, we had a phenomenal driver, Ivan. He was friendly, professional, and handled the unpredictable traffic and winding, dark roads line a pro (including the fallout of landslides that we faced)! He really helped us enjoy the trip more! We asked him to join us often as his company also enriched our trip! These two are an amazing duo and you simply can't find a better crew to walk with you through this amazing tour! We saw the different areas of Ecuador, from the Andes to the Amazon and tried amazing food, stayed in gorgeous places, and met some of the kindest and most hospitable people. Check out this tour if you really want to get a feel for the country in just a few days, and make sure you request Irene and Ivan --they can't be beat!!! A few notes: -the hike at Cotopaxi is extremely difficult if you're not accustomed to the altitude (start at 14,000+ feet and climb to 16,000) -without Irene advocating for us, it may have been hard to meet dietary needs (gluten free and dairy free in our group) -many of the activities are physically demanding even in small amounts--be prepared! -be cautious if you get motion sickness --have a patch or Dramamine available
Ecuador was amazing and the tour company was amazing. We had an awesome time and saw so much more due to the tour guides. It was a great trip
If I could give this 10 stars I would! We did SO much in such little time, however it never felt too rushed. Josué (our guide) was super friendly and had incredible knowledge of Ecuador and everything that we visited. He was also an amazing photographer and went above and beyond to make this trip a long lasting memory. Andres (our driver) was also very friendly and a gave everyone a super smooth and safe ride - we were in the best of hands! Thanks so so much to both Josué and Andres - you guys are fantastic 🙌 I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to explore Ecuador's amazing Highlands and rainforest, and it's a trip I'd do 10 times over!
Our tour was beyond excellent. Our coordinator Niki and our privatr driver and tour guide Ernesto were super extra nice.... We were 3 friends 50+ having a blast of a time in Ecuador. Everything was excellent... hotels, spas, food, activities... Very much recommended... We are definetely traveling again to Ecuador with them.... There is so much to see... and they are awesome. I felt like I saw all of Ecuador! Ernesto did an amazing job of not just navigating us around Ecuador but giving us an experience of a lifetime! As someone who loves doing everything all the time, all the hikes, etc. He did not disappoint and was so accommodating with creating a schedule that felt so well thought out. It's so nice to do all the things you want to and now I have to worry about how to get their timables knowing all the language etc. From the mama he picked up my friend and I from our hostel, everything was taken care of and so amazing! Thank you so much Ernesto for creating an amazing experience to kick off the beginning of my month-long trip in South America. If you're someone who loves to do all the things both a mix of hiking and getting a little bougie. This is for you! Be sure to pack the right gear and take altitude medication if you think your body may not agree too much. Thanks again❤️
The Quito Bus Tour company is incredible. I cannot recommend this 4-day tour enough! It was an unforgettable experience from start to finish, made even better by our incredible guide, Diana. She is hands down the best tour guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Diana went above and beyond, adjusting the itinerary based on the needs and preferences of our group, which made the experience feel personalized and truly special. Our private group of 9 found the tour to be both intimate and affordable. We were able to visit stunning locations like Cotopaxi, Quilotoa, Baños, and the Amazon. Diana even added in extra activities along the way, making each day a new adventure. Plus, she takes amazing photos and videos! She made sure every moment of our trip was captured and was happy to share the footage with our group. It was such a nice touch that allowed us to relive the experience afterward. This tour really gives you the opportunity to travel around Ecuador, and to have experiences you would never be able to find on your own. Truly, they have put so much effort into making this tour incredible. You will not regret using their company for ANY tour, but this has definitely been my favorite! If you’re considering a tour, this one is a must, and I highly recommend requesting Diana as your guide!
This trip was incredible! It was a fantastic way to see, learn, and interact with so much of the country in just four days. The company handles all the logistics, allowing you to simply enjoy the experience without worrying about timing, directions, or details. Quito Tour Bus also offers unique activities that I wouldn’t have known to do or book on my own like meeting with local families, artist, wildlife refuge and trying new foods. Our tour guide, Diana, was a ray of sunshine! Her knowledge and enthusiasm made the trip truly enjoyable. We absolutely loved spending those four days with her and she is an incredible photographer! You will walk away with the best memories and photos :)
On the fence? BOOK IT! Seriously—One of the best decisions we made. Truly, so many great things to say about this tour and especially our guide, Ernesto. This was a fantastic way to see the wonderful things Ecuador had to offer in a short amount of time. About the trip: I customized the trip to make it private, added horseback riding in Cotopaxi, and added a Canyoning excursion in Banos. This privatization allowed for us to plan our timing and stops whenever we needed, adding horseback riding was incredible, and canyoning in banos was so much fun—and we didn’t have to sacrifice much from the itinerary posted on this page to make it happen either. For my best friend and I (early 30s) it was the perfect mix of culture, relaxation, and adventure. Beware though, it is a lot of car time (but very much worth it!) Food stops were great and well planned. Hotels had great hospitality and were clean (hot water availability varied but that was expected.) About our guide: Ernesto is a gem—full of life, positivity, cultural insights, and patience. I really appreciated how he gave recommendations throughout but wasn’t pushy. He was also a great photographer!! He was patient even when we were running late to our next stop or having to make a lot of bathroom stops lol—and he was always thinking ahead and sending our orders to restaurants ahead of time so I really appreciated the efficiency. He goes out of his way to make it a great trip. Seriously, such an incredible time led by an incredible human being! So happy we did this. Tips: Bring car snacks (with all the driving, we didn’t have lunch until 2pm most days), lots of water, some cash, motion sickness meds for car or altitude if that bothers you, clothing layers as it’s very cold hiking Cotopaxi but then very warm by the time you get to the Amazon part of the trip. Company suggestion: My best friend and I were lucky to have a variety of clothing with us, but I would suggest the company provide a recommended packing list so folks are well prepared 😊
I am so happy we booked this tour. Ernesto was a fantastic guide, he really knows his country, the area and how to showcase the best of it for us tourists ! We booked this tour before going to the Galapagos to make the most of our time in Equador and I'm going to say it.... although visiting the Galapagos was a lifelong dream of mine, I actually think this tour was better. It really was the highlight of our trip and that was mostly thanks to Ernesto. José and the driver who took us around on the first day were equally great. José's passion for Equador really came across and because of that, he just seems to know everything about the area ! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone.
This tour is action packed and provides a great highlight of what Ecuador has to offer. The accomodation for night 1 and night 3 was amongst nature, unique and very peaceful. Our guide, Ernesto, was highly knowledgeable and made our trip especially enjoyable. He went above and beyond and we particularly enjoyed our spontaneous pit stops for local fruits, ice cream and juices. Ernesto made us feel like we have a friend in Ecuador :) Highly recommend!
Great tour! Did things we wouldn’t normally do! The food and stops along the way were well planned. Ernesto was a great tour guide with lots of knowledge!
We spent 2.5 weeks checking out things in Peru and Ecuador. We were traveling with 5 people (2 adults, 2 teen, 1 younger kid). This tour was our favorite thing out of the whole trip! The cost was great (compared to others) and the skill of the guides were above the standards we expected and found elsewhere. The facilities were appropriate for the area. One was our favorite place in the whole trip. Others looked like the best option in the area which is what it is. Our driver and tour guide (Irene and Andres) were fantastic! The other tour experiences in other locations showed us what a gold mine this was of talent and planning. We would always go back to "The Ecuador" trip was the best! Such a well rounded experience of diversity of experiences from the tops of mountains to rivers of amazon. The roads are what they are in Ecuador. The driver (Andres) was safe and I always felt he knew what he was doing. (I drive heavy equipment for baseline). I also did a lot of reading on the trip (3 large books) of the history and the guide nailed it on the accuracy and depth of the history (at the right level). The kids loved it and as adults we enjoyed the company and fun made it totally worth the trip there. The history of the country, the local traditions, and great company to be with. Traveling with kids is difficult but the guides really helped us with recommendations and expectations that included what would set us all up for a successful experience. They understood us and when we asked they helped us pick what we would have the most fun with. An example of the above treatment we got was the the guide grabbing fruit from all the places we went and then having a fruit bonanza where we get to taste and rate all of them. It was so educational and good to have another sense to tie it all together. We loved it and would highly recommend this experience to others with or without kids.
We had a great trip and saw so much of Ecuador that we could had never seen being on our own in such a short time. We originally booked the 3 day trip but then our guide Ernesto told us about this tour and organized the extra day for us. We are so thankful that Ernesto made that work so spontaneously! He was a great guide who knew so much about the country, always looked out for us and took great pictures. We had a lot of fun with him! All the stops and activities were amazing. The hikes were not easy but there are always multiple options! The hotels were nice and clean. All the restaurants we stopped at were great and pretty cheap. Ernesto also stopped with us at a fruit shop and we could pick all the fruits we wanted to try. The extra activities like zip lining and the extreme swing were not so expensive and a lot of fun. I especially liked the jungle walk and the chocolate making with a local family. If you don’t have much time and want to see a lot of the area around Quito- this is your trip!
We had a wonderful time on this four day tour around Ecuador. The itinerary going into the trip sounded amazing, but it surpassed our expectations! Our tour guides and drivers were incredible (shoutout Ernesto and Josue), and really went out of their way to tailor the experience to what we were looking for. We loved staying at local spots that gave back to the community and its people. It was a wonderful experience learning about the history of Ecuador. Ernesto was amazing and did a great job educating us about his culture and country while also taking us to some of his favorite local spots, which happened to be our favorite experiences and meals of the trip! We can’t recommend this tour enough and would love to come back to Ecuador and work with this group for future travels!!
5/5. What a trip! From pickup to the return to our hotel Quito Tour Bus were excellent. Our Guide, Irene, was fabulous. She was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about everything that we experienced. Her english made everything so much easier for us. The itinerary was full to the brim of exciting and inspiring places and activities while the choices for each nights accommodation were all delightful and very comfortable. The hotel staff were all super helpful. Finally our driver, Andreas, was excellent both in terms of driving ability and helpfulness. Toward the end of the trip we received all the photos both he and Irene had been taking of us which was lovely. All in all faultless 😁
It was great! We had few days to visit so many places together leaving and returning to Quito and we found this private tour solution. It was a plus to have had Neto (Ernesto Cárdenas) as a guide who, besides being an outstanding professional, is an enthusiast of Ecuador, its nature, its geography, its culture, and that the people he accompanies live this experience to the fullest. We have seen, learned, and discovered so much in these days with him and his company that we want to do more tours with them to see more places. The hotels are great, it is excellently organized, and the places to visit are very well chosen. Leave everything in their hands and enjoy. Super, super recommended.
Quito and surroundings charming. Irene the guide: the best. I would definitely come back and recommend them. Actually, let's wait another year.
It was all very cool, very fun, I loved the assistance of the guide and the driver (Irene and Vinicio) very attentive and friendly both, especially they made me feel very special and I learned a lot about beautiful Ecuador, I would definitely go back to Ecuador to live this wonderful experience again 😻
An excellent guide IRENE AND an Excellent Driver VINICIO these made our trip more pleasurable IRENE end of the endings really that many blessings helped us to know each of the places in a wonderful way and each question answered us excellent widely I recommend anyone traveling to Quito Ecuador to request the guide IRENE and driver VINICIO
I have visited many destinations, so I agree with good tour guides; but my trip to Ecuador was wonderful and Irene and Vinicio made it more special. Irene is very authentic, welcoming and passionate; she shows her country with great pride, she makes you want to be Ecuadorian. She's very prepared, no matter what doubt you have, she'll have an answer. When I return to Ecuador I will pray to coincide with the amazing Irene and the kind Vinicio.🤍
Very well thought out the tour route, nice places, intense, good stories of the guide and very attentive, it was an experience that we will not forget, looking forward to return to Ecuador, totally recommended, greetings from Chile.
