My guide was brilliant. I learnt so much about Kichwa culture and about the flora and fauna of the Amazon jungle. It was truly a wonderful experience with lots of diversity. The lodge was so special. It was clean and charming. The staff were so friendly and helpful.

Day 1
1
We recommend the 7:30 AM departure to maximize your time in the rainforest. The driver is fluent in Spanish and occasionally speaks English during the journey. Upon arrival at the jungle lodge, your tour will begin with a native English-speaking guide. (Transfer to Antisana Viewpoint: 90 min)
On our route to the Amazon, weather permitting, we'll make a stop at 4100 meters above sea level to capture breathtaking photos of the Antisana Volcano Travel to Jumandy Caves: 3 hours
Near the city of Archidona in the Napo province lies the Jumandy Caves, an adventurous tourist attraction showcasing petroglyph inscriptions from the ancient Quijos civilization. Please coordinate with transportation if you wish to add this destination to your itinerary. A guided one-hour expedition inside the caves highlights underground water currents and stunning stalactites and stalagmites. Admission costs $7 USD per person; waterproof footwear is required, or you can rent rubber boots on-site. (Transfer to Rainforest Lodge: 90 min)
Into to the Rainforest. Following a period of relaxation and settling in, one of our Naturalist Guides will provide you with essential information about the tropical rainforest, Amazon SPA therapies, and the operations of THE RAINFOREST LODGE. Our aim is to equip you with foundational knowledge about this incredible environment as you embark on your activities. Lunch: Treat yourself to a delectable meal featuring local flavors and fresh ingredients, expertly crafted to tantalize your taste buds.
GUIDED JUNGLE WALK This ecological trail is named after the famous thousand-year-old Ceibo tree, the most imposing among the many trees we'll encounter, from the strangler figs to the medicinal plants. Each guide will share their expertise on the flora and fauna, including the daily activities of the animals observed along the trail
River Beach & Tubing Adventure Embrace Nature's Refreshment Following an exhilarating jungle hike, treat yourself to the ultimate refreshment with our thrilling river tubing adventure. Glide downstream on tubes, using only your hands to steer, surrounded by the pristine beauty of the river and the lush Amazon rainforest. Whether you crave a solo escape or a romantic journey for two, this serene activity provides a tranquil immersion into the river's tranquility. Don't forget to wear our provided life jacket and bring along your sandals for a safe and enjoyable ride. Return to the Lodge
DINNER & NIGHT WALK After dinner, get ready with a flashlight and rubber boots to venture into the nocturnal realm of the rainforest. We will search for caimans, amphibians, bats, owls, and nocturnal mammals such as night monkeys with the assistance of our experienced guide, who will determine the best route through the forest or around the swamp and lagoon Lodging: Relax and recharge in our comfortable accommodations nestled amidst the sounds of the jungle.
Day 2
2
Breakfast: Begin your day with a hearty meal to energize for the adventures ahead. Get ready with your rubber boots as today we'll be venturing into the Territory of the Napurunas, exploring their culture and the forest with its cascading waterfalls. (Transfer to the Monkey´s beach: 35 min)
A renowned tourist destination, the quaint town of Misahualli, Ecuador, rests at the confluence of the Misahuallí and Napo rivers. This tranquil, off-the-beaten-path town boasts stunning jungle vistas and a sprawling sandy beach. Among Misahualli's most beloved residents are its monkeys, often spotted strolling along the beach or venturing into the central park of the town. From here, we'll continue our journey aboard a canoe to reach the indigenous community...
At this destination, we immerse ourselves in the rich traditions of the Kichwa culture. Engaging in casual conversation, we gain insight into their daily routines and customs. Guided by a local host, we have the opportunity to learn the process of making chicha, a traditional beverage (tasting is optional!), and witness the spiritual cleansing rituals that continue to be practiced within the surrounding community. Additionally, we partake in a blowgun target-shooting contest, though competing with the natives proves to be quite the challenge! This intimate and distinctive experience allows us to explore the nuances and shared aspects of diverse cultures, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for our differences. Afterward, we proceed to the Huaoranies Lagoon
where we'll continue our journey aboard a paddle canoe on the lagoon. During our excursion, we'll have the opportunity to observe various bird species, including the famous hoatzins, caimans, and the gigantic Amazonian fish, the PAICHE. Following our canoe adventure, we'll embark on a brief walk on the island. Make sure to have your camera ready, as the animals are often camouflaged among the trees. Return to Misahualli Port by motorized canoe to continue to the Waterfall Trekking
As we near the riverbank, we pause to enjoy our Box Lunch amidst the tranquil surroundings. The trail winds alongside a meandering river, weaving through impressive rock formations. Over centuries, the river has sculpted natural chutes and formed small pools along its course. Our journey begins with the sighting of a modest 10-foot waterfall. While not our final destination, it serves as a preview of the grandeur awaiting us further ahead. En route, the landscape captivates us with its striking beauty as the jungle surrounds us. We tread carefully, navigating through the dense foliage, mindful of trees, low branches, and colossal rocks. Amidst this serene environment, the only sounds are the gentle rush of water and the distant calls of unseen animals. Though concealed from sight, their presence is palpable. Insects abound, some adorned with vibrant hues that momentarily give pause, prompting thoughts of potential danger. Yet, we cannot help but marvel at their exquisite beauty.
Continuing on with the last leg of our journey, we'll reach the city of Tena. Here, you'll have the chance to extend your adventure to Baños de Agua Santa in the province of Tungurahua or head back to Quito. Please liaise with our guide for details on schedules and travel choices. We're grateful that you've enjoyed this brief yet immensely engaging tour with us.

Overall was a pretty good experience starting with the transportation with Rodney that was 10/10 make us feel welcomed and had the answer to all of our questions and he was very flexible with the rides and stops we did along the way, he also has a very good English. When we got to the lodge, the room was comfy, big and with a balcony which we enjoyed. After, we meet Jaime, our guide, He was amazing, he knows, English and Spanish very well, and he show us his culture, and some words also in his language which we are very grateful for. Definitely a trip to come back, maybe with more days and more friends!!
Rodney was my driver and also my guide. He was very knowledgable and spoke great English. We had long chats about everything including nature and personal life. He made my trip 100x better. Would highly recommend
Wonderful stay at a lovely lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon the activities were interesting, thought we would have seen more wildlife, but the overall experience and activities were well organised.
It was an amazing adventure. The lodge/accommodation was beautiful. So much activity packed into such a short time, but you never felt rushed. Our guide Brayan was fantastic and so fun to hang out with. I would definitely recommend this trip to everyone.
The tour is misleading. I was thinking I’ll be deep in the rainforest but it’s just around the lodge. The driver spoke no English but at least he tried to provide info about the stops. Unfortunately, too much fog to see anything on the drive. The day 1 guide Carlos kept pushing timings to fit his schedule. The 1 hour tubing was only 15 mins. He was leaving early so he did all the activities back to back. The night tour was also for 15 mins on their property. Carlos decided to do the tour before dinner when it wasn’t even fully dark so he could leave early. Only spotted a tarantula and one frog. Day 2 was much better. Guame (I think that’s how you spell his name) was wonderful. He showed me a canoeing tour where we saw many monkeys, birds, fish. The tour with the native people was good. The waterfall was nice. Would recommend swimming in it. Overall, Guame made the experience salvageable. Overall, not worth the price. The towels and bed sheets smelled. I’d recommend going to Yasuni instead.
Overpriced and over charged for transportation back to Quito. We paid $ 90 dollars to end up in a carpool that significantly delayed arrival and agency only paid the driver $40! That large of a market I concsider a scam/fraud. Therefore, as a lack of integrity and underwhelming “forest” outing for real outdoor lovers I give this a 1⭐️
Our trip to a jungle resort in the Amazon Rainforest was truly an unforgettable experience! The journey from Quito was about four hours, and the travel was incredibly accommodating, making the ride comfortable and enjoyable as we made our way deeper into the heart of the jungle. When we arrived, we were blown away by how beautiful the property was—the surroundings were lush and vibrant, and the rooms were top-notch, offering both comfort and a true Amazonian vibe. The highlight, though, was our guide, who was not only hilarious but also extremely welcoming. From the moment we arrived, they made sure everyone felt at home and had a great time. They went above and beyond, taking us to see the coolest spots in the jungle that we never would have found on our own. Whether it was spotting wildlife, learning about the local ecosystem, or exploring hidden gems, the guide made every moment feel special. They made sure we left with incredible memories that will last a lifetime. This was hands down one of the best travel experiences we've ever had!
The highlight of my trip to Ecuador! My guide Brayan was incredibly knowledgeable of local culture, the flora and fauna and went out of his way to ensure that I saw as much nature as possible. Thank you Brayan and the team at Suchipakara Eco Lodge!
Beautiful property, comfortable rooms, amazing guides, excellent food and the beauty of the Amazon! Amazing experience. Only downsides were the cost and I was placed in a room next to a new construction build. One could easily bus or share a ride and pay for the room and excursions for half of what I paid with the upcharge of being a solo traveler. The construction came with unbearable and consistent machinery buzzing, drilling, and hammering as I attempted to relax and take in the views I literally had to leave to get away from the noise. I'm certain the upgrades will be great for the property but in the meantime it would be an easy recommendation to place guests on the opposite side of the property vs immediately next to the noise. The cost for the convenience of not having to plan all of this certainly makes the experience easier for travelers that don't want to have to figure out the logistics. All in all a great time with a bit of upside to be a perfect experience.
Carlos was an amazing guide! He was able to share so much about the flora and fauna in the jungle along with the indigenous culture. Everyone at the lodge was very attentive and welcoming! The accommodations were comfortable. They packed a lot of things in to just two days and one night! It’s a very early start coming from Quito (5am) and arriving in at the lodge around 9:30am. The driving service they had arranged to get me there was great, they messaged me in WhatsApp the night before to confirm the ride. Upon arrival I was given a tea and a snack while the basics of the lodge were reviewed with me, along with the schedule. Then there was some downtime where I could rest, swim in the pool, have a drink, or go to the spa. Right after lunch Carlos took me on a walk to identify important plants of the jungle. Then we got ready to go for a short, serene float in an inner tube down the river. After dinner we went with our flashlights on another walk to identify nocturnal animals and critters. The next day after breakfast I packed everything up and took it with me to hike to a waterfall where I got to swim and get a massage from the strong falling water. Then we took a motorized canoe to a local indigenous community for lunch and they showed me some of their local customs and I had a chance to buy some of their artisanal products. Finally, after taking the canoe back to the port I got to see capuchin monkeys running freely in the city plaza. Also got to enjoy the local delicacy of chontacuro, a fat worm that you can eat live or grilled. I then had a private shared transport back to Quito. Overall it was an amazing experience and I can’t get over how great the people were! I would recommend this experience. Of course with the longer stays you can see and do more, but if you just wanted a taste of what it’s like in the jungle then this is a great option!

We had a lot of fun on this tour, We would have done more days if we had time. Bryan were the man! Best wishes from Denmark! 🫡
The lodge was amazing and comfortable. The activities were great fun and well organised, this included a walk to the waterfall which was so special when you arrived and a great chance to swim. Monkey beach was great fun, you could get so close to them. We saw so many animals on the night walk which was very memorable. Our guide was knowledgeable and made it very enjoyable, really recommend!
The resort where we stayed was excellent and truly in the middle of the jungle. I learned a lot about the indigenous culture when talking with the guide at the hotel who took us on a walk in the jungle and the night walk as well.
Really good guide- he has a degree as a botanist so he can tell you a lot about the plants in the Amazon. He speaks a couple of languages and is very friendly!
This was a great little tour. The transportation from Quito was great, with stops along the way. The staff at Suchipakari were awesome and helpful, and the lodge was a great place to stay. The excursions included in the tour were a perfect introduction to the Amazon and well worth the money. I would definitely recommend this tour!
Really nice resort. Staff was helpful and friendly. All the activities were interesting and fun and the food was good. The car ride is 4.5 hours from central Quito on a hilly and curvy road.
Brian was an Allstar guide. He guided us through each activity. He was very patient and friendly and delivered all that was promised. We had a great time at every activity and would highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in getting a taste of the Amazons.
Alex was an excellent driver and Carlos was awesome—especially given we don’t speak much Spanish. Carlos tan the two days like a pro and gave us some memorable experiences in the jungle walks. Enjoyed our time. Side note: I would suggest figuring out your transportation before arriving as it isn’t included in the package.
This was a terrible tour. The company really embellishes what they offer. First of all, we were picked up in Quito at 5 in the morning (as we expected) but in a small pick-up for 4 of us by a non English speaking driver. The driver had his own construction materials in the back and this is where we put our luggage. The trip to the resort takes 5 hours from Quito. It was a nightmare. The ride was so rough and the little truck so crowded that between potholes and twisty roads I was completely car sick and actually missed the activities of the first day due to nausea. It was a completely inappropriate form of transportation for us. The resort itself was nice, the accommodations and staff good but the tour by Viator was horrible. Do not get this tour. The people traveling with me said the planned activities that followed were very overblown. We could not take the night walk because of rain, the day time jungle walk and boat cruise were very mediocre. Finally, read carefully because you do not get returned to Quito. If you want to go back, you can take a regional bus (!) or pay as we did, something like $60 each for four of us- yes, $240 to return to Quito. At least this was an SUV. I’m not prone to motion sickness but the ride there was like something from a horror movie. I’ve taken other Viator tours prior to this and felt they were also a bit disappointing from what was described. I should have learned! Bottom line, I never take another Viator tour and if you’re wise, neither will you.
The agency was totally unprofessional. You just have to keep repeating yourself on your request many many many times. The worst part was the guide, Santiago. He is the least least least informative guide I’ve ever had despite the price it costed. I barely got any information about the jungle after the end of the trip. He is merely a driver for the whole trip. For example, there was no brief of the activity nor the self-introduction. I needed to ask for his name and made sure to get what I have paid for. He lacks of the service mind for example he stopped at the gas station and didn’t even bother telling or checking with the passenger if anyone needs to use toilet or buy any drink. He just stopped to get his own food. The start of the tour delayed for an hour and there was no heads up until you asked. There were a lot of time gap between the activities. For some activities they just dropped you at the place and told you the name of the place and told you to spend 20 minutes here without giving any information about the place at all.
I recommend this trip and I recommend the lodge where we stayed the staff were incredible the owner Mr Robin was on hand we even had a drink with the bartender Edwin detour guide in the Amazon Javier they were wonderful we had a great time the lodge is beautiful clean organized they even have a river with a beach side you can enjoy the bank and swim the trip to the indigenous community in the Amazon was awesome people were friendly I had a great time.
The package included a pick up at our hotel but the drop off back at our hotel was additional amount. The host was not clear on the activities for each day and called a tough hike over slick stones and mud, an easy walk. We were told we would have a double room and while it was very nice it was one bed. There is no A/C, just a fan and there are roaches in the room and many dead bugs, and some sort of beeping, but no phone in the room to call to ask questions. Food was okay (breakfast was great) but the other food was too salty and we did not get what we ordered. It was a wonderful experience, but the place is very disorganized even though staff was very nice.
They are extremely friendly here. You see once in a lifetime cultural things as well as views. Extremely helpful staff. They don’t leave any dull moments. From dusk til dawn you are exploring and learning. My family and I had an amazing time!
The staff were all very professional and friendly! I was the only one who booked this that day so I ended up with the drive and most tour activities being private! One other group arrived at the lodge in the evening, but I had the whole place to myself for a while, how cool! Stopped in tena, and to walk and see monkeys on the way. Went for a nice walk in the forest during both the day and night, went tubing on the river and plenty of time to chill in the pool. Great food! The second day was an additional cost to upgrade to the activity of going to a wildlife rescue which was amazing!, a visit to an indigenous village to watch the drink being prepared, shoot a blowgun, see some caiman, and learn about cacao. A great value for so many activities!
Our tour guide was terrible! He would take us to each activity and then be on his phone the whole time! Hardly interacted with us. I would totally give his name to warn others but he never even introduced himself. The activities were pretty cool, but we didn't do three of them. I feel very ripped off! One of them was due to rain, that's fine. The other things were supposed to happen at the indigenous community and just didn't happen. When we asked our tour guide he acted like he didn't know. That whole part of the tour was not impressive at all, they did not seem enthusiastic to be there. I really wish I could file a compliment about our tour guide, he should not have a job like that! And I hope to get some money back too since we didn't get to do all the activities that was on the itinerary.
We had a great time but there is room for improvements. The tour says you start at 4 am but we received message that we would be picked up at 7 am and then 8 am. The bus ended up coming at 7 but we were not ready so the other bus passengers had to wait for us We first got there (long trip) and waited and waited. The lady who give massages met us and not the guide. She didn’t speak English but she was doing all she could to welcome us. Note that we arrived 12 noon and our rooms and lunch were not ready until late. We ate lunch at about 2 pm! Then we went to our rooms which were ok ( we weren’t expecting fancy so that’s what we got). Tip- kill the mosquitoes in the windows ( which is just a green netting no glass window pane) We then went to meet our guide for our first tour at 3 pm. We waited an hour. At four we started a GREAT tour in the jungle. We all enjoyed and had fun. Then because we started our jungle tour late we did tubing activity late. This was not a good idea. We finished and then sun had set and we had to walk (barefoot- Tip take water shoes or crocks even though they say you can go barefoot). We walked in the dark back to lodge The dinner and other meals were good. Though the service was slow the food was very good. They should have the bar open before dinner. It would have been nice to order a drink earlier in the day We went on a night hike after dinner. Don’t miss this. We say tarantula and a leaf 10 feet wide (many other insects). This was the highlight of the trip for the kids. The guides were Excellent! We also had a massage that night which was really good The next day we did chocolate demonstration which was very enjoyable (they missed doing it day before because we arrived late to lodge). We also did the Monkey and waterfall tour (tip- this is a difficult hike and we slipped with the boots. Be prepared). Note we did not do the native tour with dances because we were told there wasn’t enough time. Since we arranged to go back to Quito that night. They were correct. So if you go for the one night and plan to return back to Quito be prepared not to have time for everything they list here All the excursions were enjoyable and the tours were enjoyable too. I actually recommend that you go BUT be aware they need to improve quite a bit. The facilities are NOT great. The water was shut off after 10 pm. No shower no toilet there are also two wet dogs (poor dogs have fleas). The rooms are rough to say the least.... but it is an adventure. Go enjoy just be warned
I was a little sceptical as there were so few reviews but this was a great trip. Few other people, flexible and tailored approach and the staff were brilliant. HIGHLY recommend
We had a guide only for me and my husband and all we did was very exciting: tubing, walks in the jungle, visiting the native community, cascades, etc. The Lodge was located far from civilization, the rooms were nice, food was very good, we absolutely loved it. The only thing we regretted is we could not stay longer.
I was skeptical to book because there was no reviews yet for this tour and my friends and I wanted to go to the amazon while we are in Ecuador. Overall, I think it was worth the money and the time. Santiago was our guide and he was super knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. All of the guys at the Suchipakari lodge were also super friendly and awesome! Santiago picked us up in Quito at our location, then we saw the indigenous community, monkeys beach, many waterfalls, made and ate pure chocolate, floated down the river. In the morning we took a walk through the jungle and finished with breakfast, then continued on with the day. The food was great, even the "box lunch" that ended up being full meals. With it being a new tour, my only suggestion is to add a more simple way to get back to Quito. Maybe included with the price should be a bus ticket back to Quito or something along those lines. It would have been easier, rather than going back to either Banos or Tena then trying to figure out a way to get back to Quito. But again, overall, the experience was awesome and all the staff were great. I definitely suggest it.
We have had fantastic days with Franco. He knows (almost:) everything about the flora and fauna. We tasted, experienced, listened to the sounds of nature, wondered, met locals, spotted animals, made and ate chocolate, baked pots:) and above all laughed a lot!
My wife and I had a very nice guide in Franco for two days. A lot of knowledge of nature, history and therefore very nice for us to get to know a part of Ecuador (Amazon). His knowledge of animals, plants and fruits was particularly impressive! Franco was also a nice person to hang out with. Informal and excellent English proficiency. We are very happy that we were able to discover a piece of Ecuador with him.
Our guide Brian was really very friendly, helpful and understanding and could tell us a lot. The activities were a lot of fun, we felt very comfortable. The accommodation was a dream and the food very delicious.
Mi estadia fue corta pero la disfruta al máxiímo. Todo muy bien organizado.. me encantaría volver Hermosa vista.
