This is a charming little hotel. Converted from what was once a grand residence, my room had a ton of character and impossibly high ceilings. The rooftop is very cool. The location is great, an easy walk to the center square or out to the cathedral. The staff were extremely conscientious and helpful. Breakfast was great. They want me to walk very far from the hotel in most directions out of concern for my safety (I asked because you hear so much about Quito being dangerous), which I appreciated.

From check in to well after check out I experienced true hospitality. I spend about 25% of the year away from home and rarely do I feel the way the staff at Carlota made me feel. Being that this property is an old French Style house converted to a hotel with limited number of rooms, they really made me feel like I was a guest in their own home. I work in the hospitality industry and it's not very often I come in contact with people who care the way Miguel Obando and Nathalia Rosario. I also wish to mention the young lady that worked the front desk in the morning, but don't remember her name. Both front desk employees and the young lady that worked in the restaurant for breakfast provided me an experience that I wish all properties could offer. If I ever get the opportunity to return to Quito, I will stay here again mainly because of the staff. The property was beautiful and clean and the location was great, but I cannot emphasize enough how much the workers set a standard for hospitality.
I recently stayed at Carlota in Quito, and it was one of those rare experiences where everything simply feels right. The hotel itself is stunningly beautiful—thoughtfully designed, intimate, and full of character—but what truly sets it apart is the people who run it. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely cared for. They’re warm, attentive, and incredibly empathetic in a way that never feels forced but more like family. Whether it was helping with last‑minute logistics, offering thoughtful recommendations, or simply checking in to make sure I was comfortable, they consistently went above and beyond. It’s the kind of hospitality that stays with you. The restaurant deserves its own praise. Every meal was fantastic—fresh, creative, and beautifully prepared. It quickly became one of my favorite places to eat in the city, not just because of the food but because of the atmosphere the team creates. Carlota is the kind of hotel that elevates your entire experience of Quito. I’m leaving with wonderful memories and a lot of gratitude. I would return in a heartbeat.
I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for 5 nights across 3 seperate occassions and in 3 different rooms types, all unique and really lovely although some a little compact. The hotel is in a old conversted building and very beautiful. The staff were very friendly, helpful and extreamtly welcoming each time I returned. They will offer a packed breakfast if you are off on a early tour, I would also recomend the restaurant for an evening meal, having eaten there 3 times the food was always very good. The hotel is in a great position in the old town, if I ever return to Quito I will be staying here again.
A very friendly staff is the star of this hotel. The location in the center of Quito is great for walking tours. The breakfast is very good. There is a rooftop bar. Rooms were a bit small, but we're clean with very comfortable beds. The showers were not as hot as I like, but that would be my only complaint.
