Queenstown: Southern Glacier 50 Minute Helicopter Flight

Absolutely fantastic!! I am afraid of heights, small planes and had never been on a helicopter. It was unbelievable experience and a lot less scary than I thought. Had unbelievable view of the mountains and landing on the glacier was the best. Highly recommended. I was travelling solo and had a chance to sit one way at the front. We had only four people on board so had great view also from the back. Our pilot was the best....just can't remember the name...have been on too many tours lately...

Outstanding tour and even better pilot. He was very knowledgeable and informative about the sites and structures as well as local wildlife. The whole team was well oiled and efficient and safety driven both before, during and after the flight which was reassuring.

Amazing flight to see the glaciers up close and the snow landing was a great photo opportunity. Very smooth flight with Pete. Highly recommend.

I would not recommend this tour for solo travelers. During my experience, I was traveling alone while sharing the flight with two couples. The pilot required two people to sit in the front of the helicopter, and both couples were given the opportunity to sit in the front and enjoy the better view. I was relegated to the back of the helicopter for both the outbound and return flights, missing out on the same experience and view. I am very disappointed because we all paid the same amount, yet I was not given an equal opportunity to enjoy the tour. I understand that seat adjustments are necessary for weight balance, but I wasn't made aware of this when booking, and I'm disappointed not to have received an equal experience. The helicopter flight itself was very good, and both the take-off and landing were completely smooth. The glacier landing was cool as well, and it matched the description at the time of booking.

This was absolutely one of my favorite things that we did in Queenstown, and Sam the pilot was fantastic!

It’s impossible not to fall in love with this beautiful area. Everywhere you look is incredible. The flight was smooth and professional and felt safe at all times. A real memory that will stay with us forever. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic trip. Flying close to the glacier and mountain lakes was awesome and landing on the glacier in powder snow and walking round was a once in a lifetime experience. Pilot Johno was great. So glad we booked the glacier trip rather the shorter 30min flights, well worth the extra money. Still buzzing afterwards

My husband, our 16yo and 14yo boys and I did the glacier landing, and it was simply phenomenal and the scenery was breathtaking. If you’re thinking about doing it, don’t hesitate, just do it, you won’t regret it. It was one of the absolute highlights of our trip and left all of us completely speechless. A big thank you to Jono, our wonderful pilot.

Unbelievable views. Got really close to the peaks. The pilot Richard was awesome. He was very safe and personable. Was patient with all the questions from oyr 6 year old grandson. He was enthralled with all the dials and video maps.

Just returned from 50 minutes of the most awe-inspiring experience. Amazing views, mountains, valleys, rivers, glaciers, a set down in the snow on top of the world, complete control and calmness by our pilot Steve (who knew every scene from Lord of the Rings!) and just a hugely professional set up that made this a truly memorable experience that my daughter and I will never forget.

We booked for helicopter glacier ride. When we got there for the ride due to the bad weather they changed ride from 50 minutes glacier ride to 30 minutes snow landing ride. I was told I will get the partial refund from trip advisor. Tried to contact trip advisor unable to get in touch. I like to know how to get the partial refund. Ride company said they already sent the email to trip advisor.

the clouds were low so was offered 35 minute not 50 min and unabe to land on glacier team were professional and friendly

50 minute flight with glacier landing was amazing. There is no way you will be disappointed or there is something else wrong with you. This is a lifetime experience!

After 2 cancelled flights due to poor weather at Franz Josef we flew from Queenstown. It was a fantastic experience! Our very knowledgeable pilot pointed out landmarks on the way and circled to show us a glacier in more detail. Then we landed! What a privilege to set foot on a glacier! It was the highlight of our holiday in New Zealand.

We had an amazing experience flying over snow capped mountains to land on a glacier. The whole experience absolutely exceeded our expectations by a mile. It didn’t hurt that we had perfect weather which allowed us to truly appreciate the stunning scenery. A definite bucket list item that everyone visiting Queenstown should consider doing. The whole process from start to finish was professionally executed and made it easy for us as the guests.

Brilliant and professional! All the staff and pilot were so lovely! The cloud closed in on our first snow landing so pilot Mike landed us at Cecil peak! On a second landing!! Unexpected and so wonderful! It was my first time EVER touching snow! It was one of the highlights of this trip so far! Thank you so much it was worth every penny! A++++!

We were in Queenstown & decided to go for a helicopter glacier ride with Helicopter Line. We were very lucky as the weather was perfectly sunny & skies absolutely clear. I think it was the best day of our trip in terms of weather. The views were amazing & it is really difficult to explain the whole surreal experience of flying over glaciers on a helicopter. If your budget permits, you should surely try this especially in New Zealand's south island. The back office team was very supportive & Our Pilot Jason was absolutely fantastic as he was giving us a detailed briefing of all the important glaciers & national parks all along the ride. Thumbs up to the team

Great experience, the only thing is that the little kid can only sit in the middle of the second row, which limits what he can see. Mind this if you take a kid. The Mic on the helicopter is hard to hear clearly—otherwise beautiful scenes and fantastic experience

Amazing helicopter glacier view. Had fun onboard. Lots of pictures taken. Did not disappoint on the ride. In fact, was glad that made the trip. Money spent was worth it.

Fantastic experience. Originally, we were due to fly in the morning; however, due to the weather it was cancelled. The person who phoned suggested we re-arrange for the afternoon. We were so pleased we could be flexible, as it was a spectacular experience. Our kids (10 and 7) thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you.
