The tour was awesome! Jorge was a great driver and guide and was very knowledgeable about the area and its history. Peter was also great and complimented Jorge with knowledge about Lord of the Rings sights.
The tour was excellent! Planning, preparations, and pick-up went smoothly. The drive along the shoreline provided stunning views of the lake and the 4WD added an enjoyable extra in Glenorchy. The stops at the movie locations were well organized and provided pictures helped the visualization. These facts, combined with a knowledgeable and friendly guide resulted in an adventure. We had an amazing time and would definitely book another tour with Nomad Safari. Thank you!
Had awesome fun being driven around the beautiful Queenstown landscape by Hayden. Got to see some iconic LotR locations and skim stones across the Anduin River. Highly recommended.
Awesome tour !!! Justin was amazing .., trusted his driving 100 percent and his local knowledge was excellent .. would highly recommend !
Very enjoyable tour with Tom the tour guide. Covered alot of ground and a number of LOTR locations. Enjoyed the off road Arrow River experience
We had such a phenomenal tour with Dan as our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Lord of the Rings and was able to tell us many facts about things that happened behind the scenes as well. Dan was especially playful and patient with our two toddlers, even making them a little snowman and allowing them to throw snowballs at him. The hot chocolate and banana bread we got was also so delicious.
Great day with Roger our guide, morning tea beside the river and some panning for gold. Thank you Roger for good memories.
Great experience being driven through the valleys and mountains of Queenstown and the surrounding areas. Not as much lotr info/lore as i originally thought and was hoping for but driving through the rivers and visiting arrowtown kind of made up for it. 8/10 would go again, just wish there were more Lord of the Rings features.
This was a brilliant afternoon, with Kenny, starting with an awesome Queenstown lookout, exploring Skippers Canyon, driving up the Arrow River with some afternoon tea and a quick gold pan on the way. We visited a number of LOTR locations and finished the day with a drive up the Crown Range to see the sunset. Thank you for a fun afternoon. I think my favourite part was bouncing and wobbling our way up and down the Arrow River....so much fun!! 😁
visit to the filming locations of the lord of the ring films, prospect for gold in the river, thomas was our guide . he s very professionnal and friendly
This experience unforgettable, beautiful country nice people love it thank you for your hospitality
Very competent driver and tour guide. Lots of historical tales from the area. Great referencing to places seen in LOTR. Beautiful country not seen from any other perspective. 4 wheel driving through rivers, up and down banks. Hang on, it can be a bumpy ride, oh but what fun!
Loved everything the ride, acting in the forest having a break,
Matt was our guide who was very friendly, knowledgeable and great company. We all felt very safe in the 4wd which is important given the type of roads we were on and the wet weather. Highly recommended!
Fun tour of many sites used in the shooting of Lord of the Rings with a little bit of excitement mixed in.
Recently been on the Lord of the Ring Queensltown Tour/ Nomad Safaris. Highly recommended ……… our Guide Lucas was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable..Really felt we got to appreciate the beauty and history on the area… and a must for the LOR fan … visited some iconic scenes ,half expected to encounter a few hobbits.
You don't need to be a LOTR fan to love this tour. Incredible scenery and fun drive through amazing terrain.
Sweet informative guide who was a joy to drive us around. Interesting facts about the movie
Toured with Pete with Nomad Safaris. He was a terrific guide and a pleasure to be with.
Very good scenes and vistas. Hannah (?) was very thoughtful and thorough in her explanations. Hi Five!
Excellent, fun and informative. If you are a LOTR fan you will get to stand at the places where the film was shot. The scenery is stunning. Our guide was relaxed and knowledgeable. This is a great way to see some places that might be out of reach for the average visitor.
Finley ( I’m pretty sure it was with an e not an a) was a great guide , relaxed , knowledgeable and funny . We had a cracking time and even the non LOR nerd enjoyed the day . Highly recommended: gold pannning , River off roading , Skippers canyon , Arrowtown ( briefly) , plenty going on . Thanks !
An exciting tour of the Queenstown basin and the many beautiful places used In filming Lord of the Rings. With a river drive and gold panning thrown in.
A bit white knuckle at times but very competent and experienced driver
Thanks to Benjamin, this visit was amazing. I could almost hear the soundtrack of LOTR during the visit. A must if you are a fan of LOTR and spend a moment in Queenstown
My husband and I came out to Queenstown as part of our honeymoon trip, our love of LOTR had us book this tour and Dan was awesome! A very knowledgeable guide, the tea and banana bread was delightful to warm us up after a cold river panning. He even took us to Arrowtown to show us the largest gold nugget found on the Moonlight River. You’re in great hands if Dan is your guide!
A safe, exhilarating and fun mainly off road trip. Our driver and guide, Del drove us through the Arrow river. We bumped our way up the mountain tracks to spectacular views all around. We watched bungy jumping and even tried our hand at panning for gold in the Arrow river. We were offered delicious coffee served from flasks and homemade carrot cakes and biscuits. A thoroughly entertaining and highly recommended adventure!
Outstanding venture. Jody was our guide. She was engaging, extremely knowledgeable and most importantly a great driver. I highly recommend the outing.
Finley was a very informative guide who did an outstanding job 👍
What an amazing experience. Wonderful guides, fantastic scenery, even had a chance to pan for gold. What more could you ask for 😄
Great experience. Driver was amazing had so much fun zip line for first time. Great scenery off roading was great would do again
We spent a fantastic afternoon on this tour. Dan our tour guide was terrific. Very knowledgeable on Lord of the Rings , an expert on the whole area around Queenstown and he was a great driver 😅 We would recommend this tour highly.
Guide was friendly. We were looking forward to this excursion, and it was fine, but probably over-priced and over-hyped. The trip involved more driving than expected and the sight lines out of the vehicle from the second and third row of seats were not good for anyone over 5’ 8” tall. The still photos helped visualize the locations. Looking at the photos posted by others, it seems like we didn’t see all of the sights We were not offered the opportunity to pan for gold. We saw four pans in the back of the 4x4, but when we brought up the topic, we were told gold panning is illegal without a permit. /
Although this is labeled a Lord of the Rings tour, it is much, much more that that. Upon leaving Queenstown, after about 5 minutes, we were literally at the top of one of the roads when we pulled over and were shown a few of the scenes. I couldn't believe how the 'movie magic' managed to shoot so close to the town and still make it look deserted. After that we went through Arrowtown. A quaint, but beautiful town. A few of out family, went back for a more through browse the following day. From there, we did some 'four wheel driving' through one of the local rivers. This, for our kids (and the bigger kids) was the highlight. We also panned for gold. Then drove down on one of the 'skinniest' roads in New Zealand for a few fantastic photo ops. (Skippers Canyon). This is definitely one for the local drivers only to attempt. The tour would not have been half as good without the 2 tour guides that took our family. Massive shout out to Dan and Jodie. They were the right balance of fun/engaging and seriousness. Keeping the tour rolling along with their knowledge of both Lord of the Rings and the local area.
Loved the adventure option on the 4WD experience, and incredible guide in Nick who was knowledgeable about all manner of things incl LOTR. Simply fabulous, highly recommend.
Gold and Lord of the Rings "Thank you for a wonderful and magnificent 4x4 tour around Queenstown and the surrounding area. The views were spectacular, and the ride was... let’s just say 'pleasantly bumpy' :-)) as we navigated through rivers and challenging terrain. Our guide, Hannah, is a truly skilled driver who handled the landscape with ease. She has a great sense of humor and is an excellent storyteller, sharing the local history in a way that was both engaging and informative. A fantastic experience all around."
The Lord of the Rings (LotR) Tour was packed with breathtaking LotR filming locations and a great 4WD river run interaction. Our enthusiastic guide retold the story of Peter Jackson's Middle-earth filming with facts and thrilling tales based out of his photo guidebook to orinentate us to the scenery. We saw LotR movie trilogy filming locations including the Pillars of the Kings and the Misty Mountains. We also panned for river gold, whilst enjoying a warm cup of tea and banana bread.
Our guide, Roger, was incredibly welcoming, well versed and knowledgeable. Scenery was incredible and loved the connections to LOTR as well as other movies. Very good for small groups to get the best value for time and anecdotal stories. Half day length was enough to see so many wonderful sights, take some photos and dress up a bit without getting too tired. Not overcrowded even in the summer time. Big thanks to our experienced guide and his entertaining stories.
Disappointing. Did not match the description of “off road adventure in the wild of New Zealand”. Expected much more off roading as indicated in the description and photos. Unprofessional guides. Minimal regard for client safety. Total waste of money and afternoon.
A brilliant tour that packs so much in to a half day. Lots of LOTR sights, amazing views across the Basin, and a very good tour guide who was enthusiastic and engaging. While we only found a few gold flashes sadly it was still an exciting & fun part of the day! We would still heartily recommend if you are visiting Queenstown or are an LOTR fan.
Best day ever. So knowledge, considerate and interesting. Highly recommend this tour to see all of New Zealand hidden landmarks
Was so much fun going off road, we also got a lesson in panning for gold which was fun, our guide was great, loved the lord of the rings stops!
We booked the Lord of Rings tour, however we were taken on the Skippers Canyon tour. We did not see one scene from the LOR. We were also supposed to get afternoon tea which did not happen. Finally the schedule included gold panning near Albert Town, whereas we had the gold panning in the Skipper’s Canyon. Very disappointed with the experience. The Shot-over Jet Boat ride was fantastic.
Fantastic experience with our guide Angelo going to all the film sites of LOTR. Recommend it to anyone thinking of gowing.
Matt as very informative and pleasant . Great views and explanations of sites from the lord of the rings films. Good driver too given the dangerous roads used 😳
We had a great time. Being a small group (just five of us, including the driver) allowed us to really enjoy the experience. Our driver provided lots of information and was always eager to answer our questions and learn about us as well.
Rick was a very friendly and knowledgeable as a wonderful guide. His driving skills were super good and reliable. My husband and I really liked adventure ride this morning!!
We had such a great time. Matt, our guide, was great and shared many stories and showed us great spots. We saw many interesting sports and enjoyed the scenery very much, such a fun way to spend an afternoon in and around Queenstown.
Michael was an excellent guide, he had lots of interesting information on the area and the Lord of the Rings film locations. Definitely worth doing.
