Really great bus driver and experience on the Milford boat but its a very long day. Would have loved to fly back but weather not good.

Itinerary
Departing Queenstown and hugging the shores of Lake Wakatipu, the highway brings you along the rugged but beautiful Devil's Staircase and passed stunning mountain ranges to southern rural heartland. After passing through deer, cattle and sheep farming landscape, you come to the beautiful town of Te Anau, the Gateway to Fiordland, for a refreshment break.
The coach makes a scheduled stop at Te Anau, the Gateway to Fiordland for an important rest break before journeying into the National Park. You can use this time to get your caffeine fix, stretch your legs, take a stroll to the lake or stock up on the last of connectivity as phone signal and WiFi is blissfully lost as you enter Fiordland.
Embark on a stunning tour through the National Park to Milford Sound; where the journey is just as spectacular as the destination! Enjoy insightful and anecdotal storytelling from our experienced driver guides as they share the secrets of their beautiful back yard. Take advantage of the plentiful stops along the way for incredible photo ops and short nature walks through the heart of Fiordland at iconic points such as Elginton Valley, Mirror Lakes, Knobs Flat and Monkey Creek.
Step aboard a spacious catamaran, and enjoy a scenic cruise along spectacular Milford Sound. Get up close and personal with the fiord's towering mountains, sheer cliffs and hanging valleys as the boat hugs the edges of the fiord throughout the two hour cruise. Feel the spray from the waterfalls that cascade from an ancient rainforest high in the mountains and look out for New Zealand fur seal colonies and occasionally dolphins swimming nearby. As your cruise meanders past majestic Mitre Peak and as you navigate the length of Milford Sound to the Tasman Sea, let the scenery transport you back to a time of magical wilderness! Relax in the comfortable seating, grab a local beer or wine from the bar, soak up the scenery from the sun deck or join the famously friendly crew on the bow as the boat noses close to Stirling Falls for the refreshing finale.
The coach returns to Te Anau after the cruise without stopping along the way, giving you time to edit your photos, have a quick nap or just reflect on the cruise of a lifetime!
A shorter rest break in Te Anau is made on the return journey before completing the trip back to Queenstown.
After a short break in Te Anau, the coach returns to Queenstown after a long but unforgettable day!

One of the most beautiful places we been to. Ride was amazing and stop are worth to see amazing things, make sure ask for 3 years old IQ parrot’s which steals your hats and sunglasses.
The day is long but the scenery is amazing. Our driver was able to give use insight into the area we were traveling through.
Milford Sound is definitely a bucket list destination to visit and it didn't disappoint. Scenery was spectacular and the staff were all fabulous and informative, from the bus driver to the boat crew.
The waterfalls, the Cruise and the views are beautiful..,, looks like are paintings. Ian was a good driver and gave us good Tips to take good pictures and good information about each place he stopped. Overall, it was a good experience
We had a wonderful experience with the Milford Sound coach and cruise tour booked through Viator. The journey was beautiful, the scenery was breathtaking, and the entire experience was well organised. The coach ride itself was a highlight, with plenty of stunning views along the way. Everything ran smoothly, making it a memorable day. Definitely worth experiencing if you’re visiting New Zealand!
Our guide was WILL. Very knowledgeable and experienced driver. He was very humorous. We had a very unforgettable trip with him. Will recommend to friends coming to Queenstown.
A very worthwhile and informative trip with Richard. Richard was lovely with a great sense of humour. Very well organised. Highly recommend.
Although our trip had to be cancelled due to unforseen weather conditions, we were grateful to our tour guide/ bus driver for getting us as far as we did and back again safely. Thanks to Pure Milford for your professionalism and great communication. We will be back and have you on our list.
Lovely trip, beautiful views and Ian, our guide was very good. The only disappointment was the lunch which wasn’t great.
Once on a lifetime trip. Long four hours sat on a bus but the driver , Robin, was very entertaining and knowledgeable . The boat trip was the best bit and breathing in the waterfall did NOT make me look ten years younger like the Captain promised !
The coach and boat were of a really great standard. We had a fantastic day. A good amount of stops throughout. Special mention to our driver Carl whose knowledge and humour made the day even better.
The bus tour guide was unfriendly and unengaging, and communication about toilet stops was poor. We only discovered halfway through the trip, after asking, that there was a toilet on board. The boat crew were much better, but overall, I wouldn’t recommend this tour, as cheaper alternatives offer a similar experience.
Great scenery on the bus and on the cruise Was easy and on time pickup and drop off at hotel so I didn’t have to travel to/from city
Comfortable bus and very organized company. Our driver very experienced and safe. The cruise boat is big beautiful and easy to move around. Lunch was great. The scenery is beautiful along the way BUT it is an extremely long day. Unfortunately no rain prior to our visit and not many waterfalls. We did have dolphins.
Wonderful experience seeing the multiple waterfalls. Simply amazing. Driver cum tour leader was very engaging as well.
It was like going through the fjiords of Europe - very pristine and fun ! The vessel was new and comfortable. Lunch was adequate. Crew was very polite and efficient.
A great day trip to Milford Sound from Queenstown, especially if concerned about the drive to the region. Can sit back, relax, and enjoy the views/landscapes of the drive.
Some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. Sebastian was a great narrator and driver and definitely made the tour even more enjoyable with his colourful narratives. Be sure to pack warm clothes and a raincoat just in case.
Absolutely amazing day. From pick up to drop off, we enjoyed the whole trip. For a long 12 hr day, not once were we disappointed or felt the day drag. Our driver was amazing, the views spectacular from the beginning, the cruise was a once in a lifetime experience, not one complaint. Comfortable bus ride and amazing nature views. 1000% recommend. Thankyou pure Milford.
This was an amazing trip in which we saw beautiful country on the way to Milford Sound. Driver provided commentary along the way which was very informative and helpful. Boat ride was fun, got to see many waterfalls and beautiful scenery. Only downside was the drive back was very long and got in early evening.
Amazing experience that you can not get from anywhere else. The driver is. Historian, Geologist, Botanist, Ecologist, Archaeologist, Economist, Anthropologist and so on and so forth, explains everything amazingly
Amazing experienced and the bus trip was great, our driver was never tired of showing and telling us about everything we passed through going to Milford. He’s really funny, that helps us not to get bored. 10 star for him.
Fantastic tour with Pure Milford to Milford Sound. Excellent coach driver, Carl. So knowledgeable regarding flora and fauna of New Zealand. Delicious lunch on board boat cruise with free tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Highly recommend this tour.
The most unreal experience ever, we’ve done Milford on a cruise ship before but this is another level, if you can get there and do it through pure Milford it was the best day of our whole trip. We will be back !!!!!
The tour was good but felt a bit underwhelming. The staff were great throughout but I think the tour felt like it was missing something. Basically the tour is just getting to and from Milford Sounds, the description implies that everything is included unless you'd like a coffee or a snack at the rest stops then you have to pay yourself, so a little misleading. My personal opinion if you were to do this tour coach down and flight back, the day was nice but felt like something was missing from the day. It is a long day & some of what I saw was lovely but I think the description could e worded a bit better
Fantastic experience. On board lunch, staff were amazing offering to take photos. Service was excellent.
Beautiful scenaries along the way and great narration from the driver. We encountered many different weather conditions: rain, overcast, snow, sunshine.. and the trip was worth in any of these.
great bus trip very informative driver and the scenery is incredible. however because there a so many companies that follow each other all places you go will be super crowded. the food on the boat is not worth the price so take your own packed lunch and just get the drinks on the boat. worth to do once but I would not go again
Very long day but the views at Milford Sound are really amazing! Coach was great however a little bit squishy.
The trip was excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly. The trip included some stops on the coach element to allow for photo opportunities and to stretch everyone's legs. The lunch included was yummy.
The fjord are beautiful, our driver/guide (the guy from Japan was really good), the food provided was OK
Beautiful scenery and views. Good information by bus driver. Lovely to see the country without having to drive yourself. River cruise was amazing. Good lunch.
What a fantastic experience, our coach was comfy and clean, a little more leg room wouldve been amazing but thats coaches. Our driver was amazing, she ran commentary and told stories the entire time which made the long journey much more pleasurable The cruise boat was another bonus as she was the cleanest and nicest looking boat at the dock Overall the price was less than i would expect to pay for this experience Would recommend this experience to anybody looking to enioy Milford sounds with little effort needed
An amazing day out exploring the South Island of New Zealand. Very cool to not only get to see Milford Sound by boat, but also stop along the way in Te Anau and numerous other places for photos and to enjoy the views. Very good value for money that included a delicious lunch onboard the catamaran. Robin was our guide and she was knowledgeable, full of energy and made the coach ride informative and enjoyable.
Milford Fiord is one of the best natural views this world has to offer, and is a must see if you’re in Queenstown. Our tour guide, Danny, was incredibly kind and offered the most in depth information about the surrounding natural world of any of our tour we’ve done so far. He also took a photo of us at every one of the multiple beautiful stops on the way to Milford Sound- and is a great photographer. We also flew back to Queenstown with Annabelle over the mountains in what ended up being the best part of the venture. You don’t want to miss this spot!
Enjoyed the milford sound tour, lots of pictures to take. The whole journey is worth it even if its 3 hours to and fro. They also provided a lunch pack with pie, apple, cokie and chips for lunch.
We had our worst experience in New Zealand with Pure Milford. The rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful bus driver completely ruined our trip to Milford Sound. It started the moment we got on the bus, when he suddenly lashed out at me simply because I asked whether we were supposed to pick up our meal cards at that point. This information had not been communicated to us by Pure Milford in advance. My 8-year-old daughter was upset as well and repeatedly said throughout the trip, “I don’t like this bus driver.” What was particularly concerning was that he was friendly and pleasant toward other passengers who appeared to be either Kiwis or of European background. This made me feel that his attitude toward us may have been racially motivated. In contrast, the cruise crew at Milford Sound were professional, courteous, and respectful throughout the experience. I did not get any response to the complaint I sent. Overall, the behaviour of the bus driver was unacceptable and had a significant impact on what should have been an enjoyable and memorable trip.
The driver was great as was the scenery
Very good tour, lots of beautiful views. Highly recommend!
The tour was very beautiful and scenery was worth the long day. When you're arranging pick up locations I'd highly recommend selecting one of the first spots. My husband and I were picked up from the last pick up location (Frankton Bus Interchange) and the bus was already full meaning that we had to sit separately for most of the day. The landscapes were still nice to look at but the overall experience was lessened by not being able to see it with who we came with.
The bus driver was so knowledgeable and very funny. This tour was so amazing! Hands up for the views! Definitely worth it!
I could not recommend this specific tour enough, but what made it even more amazing than the views and beautiful scenery was our incredible guide, Robin. She was so knowledgeable about New Zealand, its history, its culture, geography, anatomy, you name it. I’m so thankful we had her as our guide. I would recommend this over and over again to anyone visiting this beautiful country!
If was a marvelous experience. The ride was smooth and the driver was awesome in doing tour and doing the stories.
So we were really looking forward to the trip it sounded amazing. Weather cannot be guaranteed and we had a crappy weather day rain and didnt see anything but thats nature! However, the coach we were on for almost 9 hours was freezing until the last 2kms into Queenstown when I say it was cold it was stone cold, someone asked to have the temp increased and was told he tried but couldn't get it over 20 degrees. The stop to Te Anua was not a stop to see Te Anua but a quick hurry up and get a coffee into stop (and yes, we could have forgone this but we needed to warm up). The food was really poor with only a single choice if 1 vegqn, 1 vegetarian and 1 meat and didnt cater for anyone with any particular dietary requirements. THough the 3 stars goes to Ben for his stories which were brilliant and very informative.
Our bad luck as we could only see 3-4 streems. It was a chilling windy day. The lunch was good and the staffs were helpful in the ferry. The driver was informative. The bus was clean and specious. Overall good experience
Great day from start to finish! Ian out driver was very informative and Lunch that was included was good! It is a long day but well worth it so glad we did it 🤗
Bus driver was full of information, stopped at extra stops on the way and had great sense of humour. Cruise was great and informative.
Great! Coach bus is funny and patient. We had a great experience specialy during the cruise at the milford sound
We had such a blast with the trip! Our bus driver is so friendly, informative, and careful. He drove the bus well and make sure everybody is safe and comfortable. The journey itself is really breathtaking. A complete package.
