Over The Top’s Milford Highlights excursion combines all the aspects of Milford Sound, the West Coast and the surrounding Southern Alps glacier areas. You helicopter will lift off from Queenstown and fly you high over the snow-capped Southern Alps to the stunningly beautiful Milford Sound. Sit back and enjoy the view as you fly down Milford Sound giving you a birds-eye view of the waterfalls and rainforests below. Continue through to the mouth of Milford Sound to the Tasman Sea and head north to land on a remote West Coast beach. Take a stroll on this uninhabited beach before lifting again to step out into an alpine environment – a stark contrast to the coast just moments before. At each landing site, the helicopter is fully shut down so you can enjoy the quiet serenity of this pristine environment. Take your time to explore and photograph this magical place.
This was an amazing experience. Our pilot was so pleasant and knowledgeable about the terrain. It was a highlight for our family and one we will remember always!!! Cannot recommend enough. There is no other way to really be able to appreciate the gorgeous land that is southern New Zealand!
THE ABSOLUTE BEST. This trip was for a special reason - a Proposal. I booked, called the Team and let them know what I was needing - a Glacier Landing or similar, where I can propose. Not a problem. Even when the weather was being tricky to predict, they kept me informed, moved our flight date around, kept calling me to make sure I knew what was going on. Gareth and Derek did an amazing job getting us up in the air. Finally, when there was a break in the weather, up we went. We can not say enough about how amazing our Pilot, Heath, was. Informative, personable, warm, kind, excellent pilot and a GREAT photographer and videographer. He made the whole experience, which was already surreal, even more spectacular. THANK YOU HEATH. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of dealing with OTT. Amazing staff, incredible equipment and unbelievable experience. THANK YOU ALL.
Incredible experience- stopping off at Lake Erskine was something we will never forget, with great views of Milford Sound. Would highly recommend to all. The team at OTT were in constant contact when our initial flight got cancelled because of the weather, we booked on to the next morning no issues.
Amazing views of Milford Sound and the surrounding mountain ranges. They had a great professional team. We would recommend this tour to anyone!
Absolutely fantastic. Davey explained all our views of the mountains and lakes etc. we landed twice on snow and by a lake . We took time at each place to take pictures, walk around and take in the spectacular views. Highly recommend.

Choppy was our pilot (and is the business owner) — Shes runs a wonderful company and provides a beautiful, exciting, and safe experiences for visitors to enjoy. The trip helped give us a wonderful understanding of and appreciation for this special place. So so glad we did this excursion! Definitely a major trip highlight!
This was awesome. Choppy - CEO and pilot -was incredible. We saw some insane stuff and had a terrific time. Cannot think of coming back to Queenstown and not doing this again. Simply amazing!
We didn’t know what to expect and we’re overwhelmed by the vastness and the beauty of New Zealand. It was an incredible way to see the country. We landed on a glacier which was unexpected and was the highlight of our trip. Pilot was great and very safe. We would recommend the trip to anyone visiting the area. All I can say is fantastic!!!!
I booked 2 helicopters and took the family , WHAT a great day PEDRO looked after co-ordination, Ben chief pilot Rena was the other pilot both were OUTSTANDING we landed at the most beautiful and remote spots the BBQ and the team did a wonderful job the setting was unique anyone could not of had a better day anywhere in the world,
Best part of our entire NZ vacation. Would recommend flying with Top Helicopters without hesitation. Went with two people nervous about flying and the trip was smooth with ample warning when we hit a couple of small bumps. Scenery was amazing, Ben's commentary was the best and we got to visit places on the South Island inaccessible absent a helicopter trip. The Best!!

We had an incredible experience! Ryan was the best tour guide and smoothest helicopter flyer ever. From check in to leaving at the very end was an experience i would highly recommend.
My husband and I took this helicopter tour over Milford Sound and the glaciers on our honeymoon. The views were stunning, the staff were so friendly, and landing on the glaciers was an amazing experience. The guide was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot. New Zealand is a stunning place in general, and getting to view it from the helicopter was a special experience.
We did the SWO (share with others). Brad was our pilot and he was very informative and friendly and took pictures for us. My wife was his 'copilot' for the 1st leg of the trip down through Milford Sound to beach landing. We did the bus/boat tour the previous day and getting to see the grandeur from all those different views made it more impactful. We then left the beach and up through the rainforest for a landing on a mountain where we got to play in the snow and get more pictures. Would recommend these guys to everyone.
My partner and I came to Queenstown for the long weekend and this helicopter trip was by far the highlight and one of the best experiences we have ever been on! We felt completely looked after by the staff at Over the Top and the scenery was out of this world! Our pilot was awesome and we learnt so along the way. We stopped off on top of the glacier which was beautiful and then made our way to the Milford Sound. As the weather on the beach was overcast and slightly showering we all voted we would go and do a bush walk in Milford instead! It was incredible! I would highly recommend anyone who is visiting Queenstown to do this trip!
This is an experience not to be missed in Queenstown. The service is exceptional from the moment you book. Even though we had to have our planned flight adjusted due to weather, Pablo kept us informed and provided great alternatives. James our pilot was really knowledgeable a great host and also a great pilot 😀. We had two landings, one at a beach on the NZ coast and the other on a glacier - it was stunning. We also were flown through Milford Sound - whilst this is the reason we went, the Glacier was the highlight. I’d highly recommend Over the Top. Thanks to Pablo and James for an incredible experience not to be forgotten.
Absolutely awesome start to finish. Only way to see the spectacular range of ecosystems from beaches to rain forest to glaciers.
So I've been traveling Australia and NZed for 1 month. I did 2 helicopter rides in Sydney, one in the Coral Reef Barrier and this one. This was by far the best. Have to be fair: just because the views are out of this world. I was literally speechless. Looking at the pics tonite in my room I think they didn't do justice to the beauty......just because it really is something you have to live. James was our pilot. He did a fantastic job!! He took us in a fantastic ride! Not only because the obvious: but he also was really well informed about the area. If you come to Queenstown......this is the way to see it.....:)
