Half-day Milford Helicopter Flight And Cruise From Queenstown

Our pilot was incredible, and the experience was beyond anything we could have imagined. Flying across mountains and landing on the snow cap was an incredible experience on its own. To then follow it up with a cruise through Milford Sound made an unforgettable day. The team at Glacier Southern lakes are amazing and the tour was worth every cent.

I am still overwhelmed with how special this tour was. We had perfect weather and Steve our pilot was a hoot. Glacier landing was spectacular and Milford was beautiful with a special penguin guest!

Had an amazing day and loved the entire experience! Luke was our pilot, very informative, interesting and engaging! Jake picked us up and we had a wonderful visit on the way to the airport. We got to see so much wildlife on the cruise and breathtaking views all day! We would highly recommend as this is probably one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand!

Spectacular, exhilarating and yet we felt very safe flying with our helicopter pilot Kurt, who has years of experience and expertise. The entire trip was filled with highlights- flying to and from the Sound, the helicopter landing on a snow covered glacier and the Milford Sound Cruise. This was a truly bucket list experience.

The highlight of my New Zealand holiday!! The pick up bus from town and the check in staff at the airport were great!! Our pilot was helpful and reassuring to nervy passengers. The flight was smooth and the trip to Milford was full of unbelievable sights. The Milford Sound boat cruise was beautiful. On the way home on the chopper we landed at the glacier and had the chance to get out and walk around for 10 minutes. An amazing experience!!

An incredible experience. We loved the helicopter trip, saw dolphins playing next to the ship on Milford Sounds and the glacier landing is a once in a lifetime experience.

From the moment we arrived the staff put my anxious daughter at ease. The whole team ooze gold standard professionalism. The pre flight safety brief was short, sharp and easy to understand. Michaels expertise in aeronautics made for a smooth flight experience. He executed manoeuvres with confidence, allowing each passenger time to capture the perfect shot. The glacier landing will forever take my breath away. There were moments during the flight I felt I was in a movie. Book with these guys. You won’t regret it.

I’m surprised how so many visitors in Queenstown wanting to visit Milford Sound are not taking advantage of this opportunity and booking this excursion in advance. Are you willing to drive or ride a shuttle for +5 hours? Why not fly there instead and make a pit spot to touch some snow? Our pilot was Kurt and he was hands down very welcoming, professional, and engaged with ensuring that his passengers were safe and getting the best experience possible, weather permitting of course. The process of transitioning from helicopter to the cruise was very smooth and hassle free. We went to Milford Sound in the afternoon and we were very fortunate to have two close sightings of dolphins. It’s best to visit Milford Sound after heavy rainfall to see multiple active waterfalls. If NZ is in a dry spell, it’s still worth a visit especially with the Glacier Helicopters company. You won’t be disappointed!

Great trip - best way to see this part of New Zealand and Milford Sound without an overnight boat booking. The weather did not permit the cruise part of the trip but we had a wonderful time including a stopoff on a snowy peak.

Well run and enjoyable trip. The helicopter flight was just as spectacular as the cruise on Milford Sound. Landing on a glacier in a helicopter was stunning and the scenery beautiful. The staff made the day perfect by being so friendly, informative and accommodating of individual needs. The weather was textbook perfect. Well worth the extra expense over a bus trip for sure.

Pilot Mike made our flight fantastic. Giving us (well, me) some background on the battle with lodgepole pines, the current movie shoot location we flew near, the stories about the glaciers, Milford Sound and taking good care of a fellow passenger with a little front-seat anxiety. Really was a pro and credit to your team. Landing on the glacier in the saddle between two peaks was unexpectedly super fun. My otherwise taciturn daughter was smiling all the way (once she also got over front seat helicopter newness). It was my first time in a helicopter, too - so worthwhile.

One of the best experiences we've had during our many years of travelling. It was so much more than just a return flight to Milford Sound. Our experienced pilot, Steve, hovered around one of the high snow-covered peaks and then landed on a glacier. After the pleasant boat trip around the Sound, Steve flew us back via a different route with equally breathtaking scenery.

Most outstanding experience I’ve ever had! New Zealand is beautiful as it is. Seeing it from the perspective of a helicopter brought it to a completely new level. He made sure to take his time so that we could all really soak in whole experience. The views from the helicopter are next level amazing! The cruise around Milford Sound was just stunning, would definitely recommend taking the morning heli flight and cruise as the ferry terminal was super busy by the time we returned from our cruise, so the afternoon cruises look like they are very full. Would totally recommend this once in a lifetime trip!

It was a great day. We had a great trip through the glow worm caves and a spectacular visit to Hobbiton. The driver gave us lots of interesting history of New Zealand along the way and made sure we knew what we were doing and where we should be. It was a great trip.

This was absolutely fantastic. What a great adventure experience to do whilst in Queenstown . We completed the Arrowtown to Queenstown experience, and what a fun few hours it was . Communication by Going Blue was awesome and they were very flexible for us as well. Pick up service was easy to find and the lads that gave instructions were super nice and informative. Arrowtown is just beautiful and I can highly highly recommend this adventure experience. Cost was very reasonable and we had smiles the whole way . Well run operation. The fly/cruise/fly tour by helicopter to Milford Sound is a must do. The scenery on the flight is spectacular and the cruise on Milford Sound is so scenic with steep canyon walls and lots of waterfalls. The staff were always smiling, genuinely love their jobs, and make every effort to assure each and every guest has a fun and memorable experience. Kurt was our pilot and he was informative along the way and did a great job keeping the ride comfortable. I’ll be back the next time I visit Queenstown!

Glacier Southern Lakes is a premier operator/experience. The helicopter ride. Stop on a glacier after a fresh snow, flight into Milford sound and the following cruise was all made for a 5 star day. We had the benefit of beautiful sunny weather, which can be rare.

Perfect amount of time and variability. Flew to Milford above the clouds, cruise in sunshine, back in sunshine and spectacular how we were able to land on glacier.

Our pilot was extremely gentle but showed us all what was on offer there and back. He pointed out interesting and spectacular features of the trip. Offering information as we went. And throwing in a few sneaky adrenaline rush’s. So much fun and amazing views. Got to see wild goats on the way back. Flew close but not too close to the mountains. Was very mindful of a nervous passenger. Could not recommend this company highly enough, from pick up on the bus to flying to getting us to the cruise on time and flying us back. Our experience with Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters was simply amazing. We were lucky to fly with Andrew, a very experienced pilot who made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the entire journey. We had originally planned a long drive from Queenstown to Milford Sound, but thanks to this last-minute option, we were able to enjoy a helicopter flight that saved us both time and energy. The tour included a cruise through Milford Sound, where we were blown away by the stunning fjords, captured incredible photos, and even spotted dolphins and a sea lion. Although the day was a bit cloudy, the beauty of the place and the warmth of the team made it an unforgettable experience. On the way back, we had the chance to land on a snowy mountain, which left us speechless with its breathtaking views. And to top it all off, Andrew and the team gifted us a photo with the helicopter in the snow. It was a beautiful gesture that made the moment even more special. We left feeling truly happy.
