Canyoning was an awesome experience ! As someone who has never done canyoning before, it was definitely more challenging than I expected and it pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way. I always felt supported by our guide, Ross and you could tell he was experienced in the field which was reassuring. Definitely worth it.

From a beginner’s point of view and female in our late 50s, it’s an adrenaline rush to walk through rocky river with strong water current and not trusting where your feet would land. With the help of our very knowledgeable guide, Ross who gave step by step instructions to each member of our team (group of 6 today), we did abseiling/rappelling, sliding, swimming and wading, scrambling and climbing AND the hike back up to the starting point. Throughout this experience, everyone in our team gave someone a helping hand or a little push on the bum. It tested our endurance and we conquered… safely! It’s absolutely a great adventure! My 10 year old son and I had a great time. Although the water temp was about 7-8 degrees the wetsuits did a great job in keeping us warm. We had a great time sliding down and abseiling over waterfalls. Ross was a great instructor and we would be keen to do it again. We enjoyed a good lunch at Gibbston Tavern afterwards.

One of the best tours I’ve done! Booked last minute and so glad I did. Dom was friendly, professional and had everyone laughing from the start. As the eldest by a few decades, he made sure I felt comfortable without making it a big deal, and I kept pace easily. The tour was fun, exciting and well run. You do need good fitness, flexibility and to be okay being dunked underwater briefly. Sore the next day but completely worth it. The lunch voucher for Erik's Fish & Chips was a great bonus and added to the overall value.

This was honestly one of the best experiences I’ve ever done. The canyon itself is insanely beautiful, and the whole activity is the perfect mix of adventure, adrenaline, and fun. Jumping into crystal-clear water, sliding down natural rock chutes, and abseiling waterfalls felt surreal. The guides were AMAZING – super professional, calm, encouraging, and made me feel safe the entire time, even when I was nervous. They explained everything clearly, checked on everyone constantly, and kept the vibe fun and relaxed. I felt supported but never rushed. All the gear was high quality and warm, which really mattered in the cold water. The group size was perfect too – not crowded, and everyone got enough time to enjoy each section. If you’re in Queenstown and even thinking about canyoning, just do it. You don’t need prior experience, just a bit of courage. I’d 100% do this again.

It was our first time ever trying out canyoning. The guide, Yup (sorry, if i spelt your name wrongly) was super patient and explained all the safety precautions carefully. He cheered us when we completed obstacles, like the water slides. We drove directly to Gibbston valley and waited for 10 minutes before the guide came in the van with other guests. There was no one at the tent which says "Canyoning" when we arrived so we were worried and tried to contact the company. The difficult part was that we couldn't call as we don't have the local lines. They did not take whatsapp calls. Besides the start, the equipment, safety briefing, atmosphere, safety of the route was great. We had maybe 2 hours for the actual canyoning. Highly recommended even without prior experience.

Had an absolutely amazing time! Our guide Ross was super fun and personable. Water was cold but refreshing as we had nice thick wetsuits to stay warm and good boots with neoprene socks provided. No sharks.

Stefan was a great guide. He was fun but also informative and we felt absolutely safe and supported the whole time. The experience was way better and more challenging but also more fun than I thought it would be. We went on a cold rainy day and we were warm in our wetsuits. The gear is really good. Great activity to do in the rain.

Brig was our guide for the 1/2 day. Very experienced and easy going. The canyoning was super fun and new for the family. Brig took pictures that are available after and much easier that trying to take them ourselves.

We did the half day canyoning trip with Brig. It was an amazing experience! traversing the canyon was so surreal, climbing over rocks, wading through streams, sliding down waterfalls, the fresh smell of nature. We did the trip with 2 kids ages 12 and 10 with no canyoning experience. Brig was amazing in giving instructions and patient as we made our way along. It was thrilling but still felt very safe. Highly recommended!
Had a great time with guide Brig and the other participants on this adventure down Gibbston Valley. It isn't for the faint hearted but I always felt safe due to Brig's instruction, encouragement and the detailed safety briefing. A great experience - I picked it for what was forecast to be a wet weather afternoon as an ant weather activity (when you are wet, you are wet). Highly recommend.
My favorite activity in Queenstown! This was such a great activity. I went with my daughter and another family. The brochures don’t do it justice. We had the most amazing time. It was accessible to most anyone, you don’t have to be a top athlete but had enough excitement and activity to keep most engaged. Repelled down waterfalls, beautiful scenery. Top marks all the way through.

Great way to spend our first time canyoning. Ross was an excellent guide. Wet suits kept us warm. The hardest part for me was scaling the rocky cliffs but Ross jumped in to help me and my husband when we doubted we could do it.

Fantastic for first-time adult Cantonese!! Husband and I are newly empty-meters. We took a bucket trip to New Zealand and totally enjoyed this canyoning tour. Brig was our tour guide: he is very knowledgeable and very patient because I got a little scared at 2 spots, and he made it easy for me to have fun getting myself thru the rocks and climbs. It is totally a ton of fun. I was also impressed with the quality of the equipment, especially the boots — wonderful equipment! Thank you, Brig, for a great afternoon. Had a blast on this tour led by Ross and Stefan...so much so that I wished I had booked the full-day tour. I'm a bit shaky with heights but never once felt afraid. Safety briefing is thorough and makes you feel comfortable with the equipment and techniques. Once you get into the canyon, it's SO FUN! Appreciated Ross taking photos and encouraging fun shots - made for a great trip memento.

Our original itinerary for the full-day Mt Aspiring canyoning was cancelled due to bad weather/unsafe conditions, but Canyoning NZ worked with us to schedule the half-day Gibbston Valley experience that would work with our plans. They were accommodating and great to work with from start to finish. Canyoning NZ provided all the gear: wet suit, socks, helmet, harness, and boots. Bring a swimsuit (wear it under your clothes on the shuttle), a towel, and dry underwear to change into afterwards. The canyoning experience was fun for everyone in our group, including a few first-timers. There was nothing too sketchy, but included several rappels (abseils) and some scrambling through the narrow canyon. Our guide, Brig, was professional, encouraging, and made it very enjoyable. He even had dad jokes and rodeo rope/knot tricks. Would highly recommend.
Our favorite activity yet! We were first timers and Brig our guide was great and made us feel at ease and safe the entire time! This was a challenging activity but as long as you are confident and have a level of fitness and flexibility give it a try..my partner was apprehensive as she has fear of heights, but she was able to do this and felt a level of accomplishment after that she never felt before. Thank you Brig and highly recommend!!

I really loved it Tanja was great and gave me a lot of confidence seeing her traverse the terrain so easily. Was a bit of a shame a partial refund couldn't be offered as my partner wasn't up to it on that day and may have underestimated the activity. No fault of the company but something to be taken into consideration.

Our tour guide Dominick was fun, enthusiastic & made us feel safe. We had a group of 8 & actual canyoning was 2 hours. Ages ranged from 30’s to 60’s. Scenery is spectacular! Would highly recommend!

We were looking for an adventure, and found one! It was our first time canyoning, and we had a blast. Everything we needed to know was provided upon booking, Canyoning NZ provided updates and tips as our trip date approached, and the entire experience was simply wonderful. All of the necessary equipment was provided, and our guide was supportive and explained things well, so that everyone in our group enjoyed the activities and were able to complete all of the challenges and experiences we faced. As canyoning novices, everything was well explained, incredibly safe, and lots of fun. We would definitely recommend this trip to anyone, regardless of experience with canyoning.
The canyoning was thrilling and unique experience that was full of exciting obstacles such as rock climbing, up sailing, rock sliding and more. It was great for me as a beginner and also for my thrill seeking partner. The tour guide Dom was fantastic always cracking jokes but seriously kept us safe. Most importantly it was not as cold as you would think. We were dressed in appropriate gear that kept us warm jumping in the water. Small tour size was a bonus! 100 % do this! My fav thing I have done in Queenstown.

My family had an amazing time today canyoning with Dom! Our boys are 12 & 15 and they LOVED it. All of us were bummed when we came to the end of the canyon. We were in the canyon about 1hr40min I believe. You only need a swimsuit and a towel! They provide the wet suit and boots.
