We had such an amazing experience with TravelNgo. In fact we couldn’t have done the trip to the South Island at all if it weren’t for their outstanding service. We weren’t comfortable driving in New Zealand and didn’t want to endure potential motion sickness on any buses, and Jay at TravelNgo put together a personalize itinerary for us that worked perfectly, was extremely flexible and reasonably priced. We booked a half-day tour of Glenorchy and Paradise (from Queenstown), plus one-way transport from Queenstown to Te Anau, Te Anau to Wanaka, Wanaka to Mt Cook and Mt Cook to Christchurch - nearly 800 miles in total! Jay picked us up promptly each time in a 4WD SUV, took care of our bags, opened doors for us, provided interesting history of the areas, and always knew the best / secret spots to stop for photos, delicious snacks or clean rest stops. In addition he’s a great conversationalist, allowed time for shopping and played excellent background music - plus he acted as our personal photographer! He was so kind throughout all of our travels and honestly I can’t say enough good things about Jay or TravelNgo in general. If you really want to see the South Island, this is the only way to travel. There’s so much to see if you don’t have to watch the road! Plus you’ll always have someone with you to take photos!

OPTIONAL: If you're up for a short adventure, Bob’s Cove is a fantastic optional stop. This easy 30–60 minute return walk leads you through native bush to a quiet bay with emerald waters and a jetty — perfect for photos or a quick dip in summer. For those wanting a little more, a short uphill track offers panoramic views over Lake Wakatipu. A refreshing and flexible stop, if time and interest allow.
Wilson Bay offers a stunning roadside stop where clear blue waters meet rugged alpine peaks. Tucked along the edge of Lake Wakatipu, this peaceful bay is ideal for a quiet break, scenic photos, toilet stops, or just taking in the fresh lake air. It's a short but memorable stop that showcases the natural beauty of the journey before we continue toward Glenorchy.
Bennetts Bluff offers one of the most breathtaking views along the road to Glenorchy. This quick stop delivers a dramatic panorama of Lake Wakatipu, Pigeon Island, and the towering mountains beyond. No walking required — just step out, take in the scenery, and snap a few unforgettable photos. A must-stop viewpoint that captures the essence of the Southern Alps.
This scenic roadside stop offers a clear view of Pig and Pigeon Islands — two untouched gems sitting quietly in the middle of Lake Wakatipu. Framed by dramatic mountains, it’s a peaceful spot to pause and appreciate the scale and serenity of the landscape. While quick and simple, the view here often becomes one of the most photographed moments of the trip.
Your journey culminates at Glenorchy’s charming waterfront, where the famous red shed stands as a beloved landmark against the backdrop of Lake Wakatipu and towering mountains. This peaceful spot is perfect for a stroll along the jetty, scenic photos, or simply soaking in the fresh air and stunning views. Perfect for birdwatching and quiet reflection, this flat trail is suitable for all fitness levels and lets you experience the local flora and fauna up close. It’s a refreshing way to stretch your legs and enjoy nature before or after exploring the township.
Nestled near Glenorchy, Diamond Lake is a peaceful alpine spot framed by majestic mountains and native bush. Known for its clear waters and tranquil atmosphere, it’s an ideal place for a short stop to take photos, enjoy a picnic, or simply breathe in the fresh mountain air. This hidden gem adds a quiet, natural touch to your day before continuing your journey.

This iconic spot marks the gateway to some of New Zealand’s most breathtaking landscapes, featured in many films and outdoor adventures. We can also visit Lothlorien — the enchanting forest filming location from The Lord of the Rings. Please note that access beyond the sign is subject to weather and road conditions, so plans may change accordingly. It’s a great place to pause, take photos, and appreciate the peaceful rural beauty before continuing your exploration.

We had the BEST Glenorchy Private Tour on 24/7/26, better than our expectations. The booking with TravelnGo was very easy & user-friendly with email confirmation after payment & the day before our departure we got details of the driver, car number & contact number. We are so blessed to have Jay as our tour guide cum driver. He is very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, excellent driver & our great photographer…we had so much fun even though it was raining during lunch time. We love this private tour so much because of the flexibility & we can stop at some of the stunning places (eg: Moke Lake, Glenorchy jetty & waterfront, Lord of the Rings Isengard lookout..etc) longer to take amazing photos/videos. Jay is also very patient with us with the Lagoon walk because we can’t walk very fast & let us stop to rest & enjoy the spectacular views of Mt. Earnslaw. It was an incredible day with lots of wonderful memories! Big Thank You to Jay for everything! Greatly appreciated! This tour with TravelnGo is definitely highly recommended!
Jay Jung made our tour phenomenal. It was the most beautiful place in the world. Every photo (which Jay took beautifully) seemed like a green screen. Jay took us to spots nobody else had been to as well as the popular spots. We had a fabulous lunch in Glenorchy and an absolutely glorious day! Could not more highly recommend this company and using Jay as your guide.
We are from Hong Kong and had an absolutely incredible day exploring Glenorchy with Jay Jung! From start to finish, the experience was truly memorable. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we felt comfortable throughout the trip. We had so much fun and receive lots of knowledge of Queenstown and Glenorchy!!! If you're visiting Queenstown and want a private, tailored trip, this is perfect for you.
A truly amazing trip customised to our liking and tastes Jay was a wonderful guide with incredible knowledge
Our second trip with Jay! This tour was great! Glenorchy and Mrs Wooly were great. Recommend the pies at Mrs Woolys and her garden setting that Jay recommended. The drive to Paradise was filled with lakes and forests and views of a glacier.
Fabulous trip with Jay. The car was very comfortable and Jay was very knowledgeable, we saw all the wonderful sights. I would definitely recommend.
Jay was very friendly and so professional. An excellent driver on some fun roads! Such a relaxing experience not having to navigate or drive ourselves through breathtaking scenery. This trip was completely worth every cent for the spectacular scenery, local knowledge and professionalism of Jay. Thank you.
Jay was amazing, he was patient, thoughtful and engaged my aged parents so well. He tailored the trip according to our needs and was mindful of time. He ensured we had a great time and also recommended a great little cafe on the way and we loved the pie. This was one of the most enjoyable experiences we all had in NZ, so glad I picked this tour, Jay is amazing.
We had an excellent time driving to Glenorchy and Paradise with “V”. He took us to some areas we would not have seen. We have been driving through NZ and it was a great break for my husband. “V” shared several local tips. Only regret is we did not take this trip as soon as we got to Queenstown.
Incredible day with Vibhas! Hr was so knowledgeable and personable, he cared about giving us a wonderful experience. He took us to so many great areas to take in the magnificent beauty outside of Quesnstown. I highly recommend this tour!
Wonderful guide and driver. Magnificent scenery and visual displays. Very accommodating service. It was a lovely day, one of our best in New Zealand.
Excellent tour. Jay was very knowledgeable and took us all the best spots. Also A great photographer.
What a fantastic private tour of Glenorchy and surrounds hosted by Vibhas! He was a great tour guide showing us all the hidden picturesque locations from Queenstown to Glenorchy and accomodating a request to drop into Ayrburn which was a magical place to grab afternoon tea and some great wine. Thanks for a memorable day Vibhas and we leave Queenstown knowing so much more about the local surrounds and history and wanting to come back for more! All the best to Travel n Go for continued success - highly recommend them for Queenstown tours!
Amazing trip, Jay was great. Highly recommend taking this. He was very nice and went out of his way to make the trip really awesome
This was absolutely the best experience and money well spent! I was promptly picked up right at the scheduled time, directly from my hotel by Jay, my tour guide and photographer extraordinaire. The SUV was nice and comfortable, the windows spotless, (really important when you want to take pictures constantly at every turn!), and most importantly, Jay was warm, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. He took me to so many hidden, off the beaten path spots that I never would’ve found on my own. I started the day with a tour guide and ended it with a new friend! I couldn’t recommend this tour company highly enough! Don’t hesitate to book with Travelngo. I wish I’d found them sooner. I probably would have booked private tours with them for my entire NZ trip.
Excellent private tour and stunning landscapes. The guide was professional, super kind and flexible to our needs. Highly recommended!
Our guide Green was amazing. We were traveling with our young child who wasn’t very keen on sightseeing. She went out of her way to make him feel included and encouraged his interest in the sightseeing activities. The vistas we saw were breathtaking and well worth the trip. She also took us on a gravel road in certain points which would be hard to access in a rental car. She showed us hidden gem spots with Lupins and also gave us history of some of the locations. She came prepared with snacks and water and even an umbrella. We ended up adding extra time since the views were so beautiful and we visited Glenorchy farm which wasn’t part of original itinerary. Worth a visit if you can for shots of alpacas and llamas with a fabulous backdrop. Excellent trip. I highly recommend!
We booked a private day trip from Queenstown to Glenorchy and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Vibhas picked us up right after breakfast at our accommodation in Queenstown and from that moment, made the entire day feel personalized and effortless. He took us to some of the most breathtaking spots in the area—places we never would have known to visit on our own. What really stood out was his deep knowledge of the region. At every stop, he shared thoughtful insights about the landscape, history, and local culture, which made the experience so much more meaningful. On top of being a great guide, Vibhas went above and beyond by helping us plan other parts of our New Zealand trip. His suggestions were incredibly helpful and tailored to what we wanted to do—something you’d never get on a big group tour.
OMG!!! I have been going through all the pictures again. It was a lovely day, thanks to our tour guide who knows every corner! He was knows the history, in & out of Queenstown and Glenorchy. We were able to stop at a few beautiful lookouts upon our request, it's amazing to travel privately so we can maximize our trip. Highly recommend booking your trip with TravelnGo, I would definitely be back to travel with them next year! Many thanks!
It was a fantastic trip. The guide was amazing and nothing was too much for Green. She made whatever we wanted happen.
Jay did a great job taking us to see various interesting spots along the way to Glenorchy. It was an impromptu booking and he was very flexible in tour starting time, #of participants, and places to stop etc. Jay really went out of his way to make sure we had a great tour.
Jay made our trip to Glenorchy very enjoyable. He offered suggestions and was flexible. He was very friendly and eager to please. He was knowledgeable about the area and its history. To top that, he recommended a great burger place in Queenstown and told us to skip the line by ordering takeout! All in all it was a very memorable trip. I recommend his company highly.
I mean seriously no words about jay,our tour guide/driver..He goes to all lengths to make sure that your experience is a memorable one .And many,he is such a good photographer as well..He clicked our best photos in all various possible angles ..and his energy is so infectious..keep up the good work..
Our trip to Glenorchy and Paradise was amazing. Granted that we were very lucky weather wise, the scenery was unbelievable! Jay was also very knowledgeable and experienced, allowing us to take advantage of all the best spots for photos and views on the route, making this a very memorable experience. We recommend this 100%
We had the most amazing day with Jay as he gave us a tour through Glenorchy. He was great at communicating before the trip and picked the 4 of us up promptly at our Airbnb in Queenstown. Jay selected perfect spots to stop and take photos and take in the beautiful scenery. He is very knowledgeable about the Lord of the Rings and where scenes were filmed in the area and about the history and landscape of the area. He suggested a lovely little place for lunch - Mr Glen’s Taphouse- to take a break. We took our time exploring with him and got out to see the beautiful sights at his suggestion as well as at our request. We had a relaxing day laughing and chatting with him about New Zealand since it was our first time to the country. He was extremely accommodating and easy going. At the end of the day he was gracious enough to drop us off in the downtown of Queenstown to a spot where we wanted to listen to music. We would definitely take another tour with Jay if we are lucky enough to make it back to New Zealand! He even shared with us his experience seeing the southern lights and shared his beautiful photos.
Excellent private tour! The guide,Jay Jung, was incredibly accomodating and knowledgeable as he explained everything en route. I had a fantastic day in Glenorchy because it was such a magical journey through the Lord of the Rings scenery. The views were nothing short of awe-inspiring. Time and money well invested. Both thumbs up!
