Had a great day exploring Glenorchy, Dave was a good guide! Thanks Dave
A great way to visit Glenorchy without having to hire a car. The commentary and guide were excellent, making the journey enjoyable and informative. We visited on a Wednesday afternoon and arrived later in the day, so unfortunately many of the cafés were already closed. There was enough time to see a few of Glenorchy’s main sights, but the schedule felt a little tight if you also wanted to stop for lunch and explore at a more leisurely pace. Overall, a convenient and enjoyable way to visit Glenorchy without a car.
Please don't allow people to eat in van. Food aroma was bit odd. And keep AC high.
Excellent half day trip to this quirky little town. The historical Red Shed is just the start. Beautiful artisan craft huts.
Our tour guide was fantastic—friendly, engaging, and extremely professional. She did an amazing job, but unfortunately, the location itself was quite disappointing. There are definitely much better activities and spots to check out in the area.
The trip to Glenorchy was quite beautiful and made all the more spectacular with the commentary and music of the Māori people that was provided through headset. My family and I really liked this tour because we were able to wonder on our own once we arrived to Glenorchy, which allowed us time to prioritize what we wanted to do. We really loved going to the waterfront with all of the cute ducks and checking out all of the shops. I definitely think this was a worth it experience.
Great fun and hassle free travel to Glenorchy. Also David our tour guide was fantastic and funny
Beautiful scenery all the way to Glenorchy Pinot Noir from Otago in hotel there was excellent. Very scenic stop at lookout on the way.
A great tour experience especially for people who don’t drive. We are senior citizen and my son booked this trip for us to experience roadtrip in Queenstown to Glenorchy and it did not disappoint. The tour was on time and the meeting point was spot on and easy to locate. Well curated and detailed tour too and gave us enough time to walk around in Glenorchy. Would definitely recommend this to everyone. Good job! I unfortunately left my sunnies on the tour van and did not realised it a day before our flight. I gave them a message and they have responded promptly saying that they have found my sunnies and they’re more than happy for us to get it. Lucky enough, my son will be on Queenstown in a couple of months and will be the one to pick up my sunnies.
Good tour. Transport has good narration and guide gives good advice. Enjoyed the free time in Glenorchy
The trip was great, my friend and me had a great time in Glenorchy, it was a incredible beautiful place, and we both love it. Our tour guide was a very nice lady, she told us many interesting stories and history of Queenstown and Glenorchy. I highly recommend every person who doesn't rent a car just like us to book this tour.
We found this experience to be very knowledgeable both from our driver Emma who was wonderful and legends and tales that were played by headphones. The tour stopped at a beautiful look out on the way and gave us plenty of free time once we arrived at Glenorchy. Our driver was very safe and experienced while driving on these winding roads and very friendly. Would definitely recommend!
Such a lovely experience. Dave was really kind and made the whole tour feel very comfortable and enjoyable. He shared lots of interesting information along the way, which I really appreciated. The views were beautiful too. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing scenery. Very chilled environment in Glenorchy. Not a lot to do there but the scenery is spectacular for photos. Driver Dave was full of dad jokes and a great guide. Thank you
Very nice experience, our driver was really friendly and funny (I think his name is Dave) The overall experience was 10/10. Highly recommend!
I was at the pick-up point 10 mins before the tour and I went around looking at vehicles but did not see any with “Queenstown expeditions”. The closest I could find was a Queenstown taxi. My sister who had an NZ number tried calling for me but lines were all busy. I didn’t see any signage or anyone looking around for tour participants. But they insisted the vehicle was there and would not allow to give me a refund. Definitely do not recommend when they are so bad at communication and they don’t give you any idea where at the bus stop or what the vehicle looks like and doesn’t actively look for you.
It's a worry-free trip. There are small stories to listen along the way, which enriches the experience of the trip. The driver is really kind, thanks a lot.
Unfortunately I can't properly review this tour, as they never showed up :( I totally understand things can happen, but it would've been great to have some communication - even just an email if international numbers are an issue. Tripadvisor was great though in their quick response and getting a refund.
Small bus with only a few passengers. Amazing scenery. All on time and knowledgeable driver. Beautiful day and worth the money.
This was a nice short trip along a beautiful scenic route. The mist on the lake over the mountains was very picturesque. I also love the commentary about the Maori history
The bus that took to Glenrorchy was very hot with air-conditioning not working. I made our family very exhausted. Why don't the operators check if the bus is in condition or not before onboarding paid customers?
It was a beautiful drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy. This is a very easy trip that does not involve any exertion if one is unable to walk much. Views of the lake are incredible. Glenorchy is just a small town. Has some nice views if you walk to the wharf area. Other than that, unless you want to do the hike, finding lunch there is about it. We did enjoy the day.
This was a very laid-back experience starting with a one hour ride to an audio, and our driver followed by a two hour walk on your own after our driver/guide drove us around to all the highlights. Great virws
The driver was awesome and the guided commentary via headphones just perfect and informative. I learnt so much and enjoyed Glenorchy hospitality will definitely visit again soon!
I recently took a bus tour to Glenorchy, and it was just amazing. The guide, Dave, was exceptional—his knowledge of the area’s history, wildlife, and natural wonders really brought the tour to life. His engaging storytelling made the journey even more enjoyable. The bus itself was incredibly comfortable, with plenty of space to relax and take in the breathtaking scenery along the way. As for Glenorchy itself, I had read some reviews prior the trip that claimed there wasn’t much to do, but I found the tour well-structured and the stops thoughtfully planned. We had just the right amount of time to explore the village, enjoy the stunning views, and take in some of the area’s key sights without feeling rushed. Highly recommended!
Dave was awesome and very entertaining showing me the amazing views in our way to Glenorchy and the town itself. Totally recommended.
Libby was such a pleasant and knowledgeable host. We didnt feel rushed at all. The pace of the tour was just right and we had enough free time ti enjoy
The half day trip was stunning with amazing scenery along the way culminating with the quaint village of Glenorchy. Our trip only had 3 people, making it very relaxed and very informative. We were very lucky to see snow capped mountains along the way and had 2 hours to explore the village and go for a walk.
This is a no frills tour to Glenorchy with no afternoon tea like the other tours. During the scenic drive, you will be provided with headset to listen to the commentary on the places of interest. There was ample time to explore Glenorchy and take a short walk along the Glenorchy walkway. Dave is a friendly driver and he shared much insight about the lifestyle of kiwis. Being the only participant, I was also glad that the tour was not cancelled. Being a non LOTR fan, this no frills tour worked for me.
Great for a half-day excursion from Queenstown, NZ. You not only get to see the quirky town of Glenorchy, but you also get some spectacular views along the lake.
Lovely trip and great hosting by Steve! The scenery on the journey was beautiful as was the destination.
The most beautiful drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy and what a cute little place Glenorchy is with a simply fabulous gallery Franks Corner for some beautiful locally made artworks, jewellery, craft and handbags. Well worth a visit for stunning scenery everywhere
Drive from Queenstown City to Glenorchy is about 45 mints and that is the only breathtaking. The scenic beauty while on the road is amazing. After reaching to Glenorchy, there is nothing much to see. One hour roaming around is enough. It looks like a modern village. If the weather is good, then the place is enjoyable.
It was very good and enjoyable trip. Specially the stories about the place and view was awesome even driver knows everything as well
Great town to visit, loads of really pretty photos. I had a few afternoon before flying out of Queenstown so this type was perfy. The drive there is so beautiful. We had two guides with us on this day and the were both super friendly.
We had a great time. We really enjoyed the trip including our elderly parents and teenage nephew. Guide was friendly, and the pre recorded audio on the history of the place was informative
Great little tour covering many spots of interest and where beautiful photos can be taken. Tour guide was knowledgeable, and the pre-recorded commentary was also interesting.
Very scenic route and a great guide! Perfect half day activity when in Queenstown and easy to combine with other things
I will surely receommend Glenorchy to everyone, but not this specific tour as it seems its designed very poorly, Our driver was really good but I find headset auto commentry very impersonal experience, Also as said in inclusions, Wifi on Board and Water bottle, they were not available at all, and the driver had no idea about it being so. Its just misleading to add those being part of the tour. I will definitly advise of going on Glenorchy tour but will recomenned to Skip this tour.
The trip was great and the views were amazing. It was nice to visit Glenorchy again and have our own free time to explore!
The views were amazing. Short though. The tour guide was very helpful. One disappointing side, water was not provided.
Decent 2 hours in Glenorchy. Had enough time to see the main sites and grab a bite to eat. Also had the bonus of stopping at viewpoints on the way, which had some stunning views.
This tour was a great way to see Glenorchy and the surrounding areas, especially if you don’t have a car! Our guide (Thomas, I believe) was great! He provided fun facts about the area and there was also commentary for us to learn some of the history of the area. Loved the overlook we stopped at, as well as the town of Glenorchy!!! Definitely recommend!
Love the commentary and the view on the way to Glenorchy. Thomas was the best! Will recommend tour to family and friends!
The Glenorchy tour consists of two parts - the drive to/fro and Glenorchy itself. The drive is stunning given the eye catching scenery. Glenorchy is laid back but endears itself through its lakeside vistas and countryside walks, both of which are outstanding. Nigel our driver/guide was brilliant with his appropriate wit and spot on commentary. He without doubt significantly enhanced the value add of our Glenorchy tour. Thanks, Nigel.
Dave really gave us a Gold 5 Star Kiwi Special Tour. Easy guidelines so we could take our time enjoying the scenery. So accommodating to make an extra rest stop, as the windy road wasn’t so pleasant with my motion sickness. Very Pleased we booked
We had a great trip with Nigel, who was our guide for the day. His friendly banter and wit was a delight through out the journey and made our experience so much more special. The vehicle was super comfortable and we had no trouble at all. Additionally, while returning back, Nigel took us to a secret location where we got some of the best shots of the day. Highly recommended and looking forward to more such experiences!
LOVED THE OLD BUILDINGS AND HISTORY> QUAINT LITTLE PRIVATE LIBRARY CAN UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE WANT TO LIVE HERE IN A QUIET LITTLE VILLAGE ENJOYED THE BUS TRIP FROM QUEENSTOWN _ GREAT SCENERY AND VERY ENJOYABLE BUS COMMENTARY
