I was expecting so much more. Its just a walk though the dark with someone trying to scare you at times. This could be so much better. Really don't want to give this a bad review as everyone has different perceptions. But for me it was not scary and just involved walking through a pitch black maze.

Fear Factory is best enjoyed with friends, although a few brave souls have ventured in alone and lived to tell the tale! Your deepest fears are brought to life within our haunted corridors - and if you choose to ‘Chicken Out’ you will be added to our growing Chicken List of 30,000 souls in the last 10 years! This was something we took out 11 yr old too. It was creepy freaky, and fun. My eyes were watering and basically you couldn’t see me in photo as I was hot on the heels of my partner. Great to go and experience. They do the job well. Their dress up and makeup is well done. Could do with being a little cheaper. Otherwise great. The photo package was also good to have. Thankyou 😃👻
Amazing ! actors and laberynth deliver an exhilarating experience. I wanted to be scared and that's exactly what I got, my heart rate went up, adrenaline shot up, and we run out of there like bats chased out of hell
Great staff and wonderful, fun experience! We were terrified for our very lives! Would very much recommend to anyone, the production of fear was at the rate similar to that of a factory!
Excellent services and explanations of what to expect by very friendly staff , highly recommend to all
Pushed to the front, had a great time getting scared. I felt the scare actors were incredible at scaring the crap out of us. Would do it again in a heartbeat. And they were also super kind to a family who had a kiddo who got too scared and had to end early.
No lie, they got me good when it came to our videos 😂😂 I was at the back so ofcourse the ones before screamed yet I screamed too before I even knew what they were screaming about 😂
Great family fun on a wet QT morning. The tween and teen found it the right level of scary. Dad laughed most of the way around. They take some good photos (without you knowing) and a slick little highlighted video, just a pity like all of these experiences that they can’t just give you these with the ticket price rather than extorting as another extra.
It's a really good idea to have to be a pitch black maze. The actor in there did a great job as well. Some great props on display when there were flashing lights. Sorry I was hard to scare.
Was not expecting this to be as good as it was. Spookers in South Auckland set the standard, but most places around the world to scare you does not hit the mark, buy Fear Factory managed to get me to jump.
They're bloody good at their job. Scared my partner so good her shoe come off lol but so friendly as well. 10/10 definitely recommend.
I stopped into this haunt in he afternoon to do the special effects tour. They only start putting actors in the haunt in the evening and I had other plans at that time, so this was the only available option. I don't particularly mind that as I often prefer animatronic scares to actor scares. This haunt primarily relies on darkness for its scares. It was fun with the effects and effective. It would be a little better with a few more animatronics, but I also understand they may prefer to lean on actor scares more. It just makes the effects tour a little light in some sections. I could see the actors being effective in such a dark environment. I deduct a point because I typically prefer haunts that rely more on detailed sets rather than darkness. It's a cheaper way to operate a haunt, which I get from an operator perspective, but a little less of an immersive experience. That's just my preference, but everyone is different. It's worth a look if you have some spare time in Queenstown.
It was amazing, I was very terrified but hoping that staff to be a bit more friendly like the bald guy. I would also recommend longer videos and more better pictures. In my opinion, the price is a bit higher than the expectation.
It was a delightfully scary experience for my 7 yr old son . On his first attempt , he didn’t get past the first room and scampered back. But Simon of FF pepped him up (thank you Simon for that ) and he did it 2nd time round, totally scared but very proud of his bravado. Hint - Parents, let your lil ones walk between you . It gives them the courage!
Great experience! Worth the price and loved the atmosphere! Definitely will come back to visit again with friends and family :D
My son loves this experience and was freaked out a few times. Nice work by the staff and it seems they get as much of a kick outta scaring people as people do being scared😁
This was hilarious fun. We went as a group of six adults in our forties, and my GOD! The laughs we had. The video is absolutely priceless and will live in infamy within our group of friends. Such a fun / silly / just the right amount of scary way to fill a bit of time.
My 9 and 14 year old sons loved how scary this was and were happy they didn’t have to leave early because of being too scared :)
Awesome fun, fantastic service from the guy at the counter, a cool dude who was great to chat with while waiting and explained everything so well. We took our teenagers and went with friends too and the kids all had a blast as did we. Definitely recommend as something to do in Queenstown. So much fun!
Very scary, a staff member repeatedly comes up to you to scare you with loud shouts and noises as you make your way through the darkness
I don't often scare easily, but hell this scared the bejesus out of me!! But then again, I was leading the group, so if you scare easily.... stay in the middle!! LOL Great experience and definately got the heart pumping! Great work team!!
Took the fam to LA last year to universal and went to the Halloween Horror night. This was scarier than any haunted house there. Wow! The kids loved it and so did I. If you are into haunted houses, check this out!
Honestly these places aren't my thing but my sister was keen to do this so I went along. I must say the Ed Sheeran photo outside is quite the draw in haha. The staff at the desk look great in their 'bloody' makeup and the place has cool decor. I didn't like it at all but it meant the actors were doing their job haha, had I not made my sister go in front I definitely would've chickened out lol but not as bad if you're behind. I understand the rules about chickening out and not getting a refund which is fine, but I dont think it's fair that those with you are forced to chicken out too. I personally think it would be better being dark without being pitch black as you're too focused on the red lights on the ceiling. Also might be priced a little much as the maze didn't take that long. Glad to have had the experience with my sister but, again, not my thing.
Such a fun experience. Thought it wouldn’t make me scared, but it did. The kids loved the whole thing, it is fun to be scared.
Awesome experience definitely exceeded my expectations. Nearly S H A T ourselves walking through. Would definitely recommed.
Place was super duper scary absolutely S H A T myself way better then spookers and left terrified 10/10 horror experience
The live actor was awesome and the staff were lovely and really helpful. Great experience and fun little activity to fill the gaps in our Queenstown trip
My family and I walked through the fear factory and found it fun and scary. Mostly jump scares by the live actors. I don’t think a self guided tour would compare at all. Went pretty quick (10-15mins). Worth the experience
So much fun! Took a group of 11/12 year old girls for a birthday party day trip to Queenstown today and it was the highlight of everybody’s day! So scary… but so much fun. Helpful staff who went out of their way to make our experience the best it could possibly be. Highly recommend! A must do in Queenstown 🙌🏻
I visited the Fear Factory with my three children. The whole family was shaking with fright at the end of the visit. Tilly and Lucia did an excellent job. If you’re looking for something to do with the family in Queenstown, I highly recommend the Fear Factory.
Still shaking afterwards and slightly deaf thanks to my family screaming in my ears the whole time! Took 8 and 12yr old into the daytime option and it was the perfect level of scariness for them. Would recommend as a good family bonding experience!
Really poor experience today. A staff member with no patience or tolerance for misunderstanding and swearing at a group of teenage girls. Would not recommend, a downer on an otherwise fantastic day in Queenstown
This place is an absolute must for thrill-seekers. The staff there are amazing (I think he was ranga- cool dude); he really knew how to set the mood and make the experience unforgettable. We did the self guided tour, it is immersive and a freaking spine chilling experience from the moment you arrive. Their attention to detail and dedication to scaring you in the best possible way is truly commendable. You'll feel like you're part of a horror movie with how crazy that place is set up. It was me and one friend, I was at the front but backed out and wanted to leave, it was so scary. However, my friend said she would go first, and i’m so glad we didn’t leave. It is a must do, no matter how scary it is. Don’t be a wuss like I was at the start. I made noises iv never heard before haha. The guy we had at the start was bloody awsome, you can tell he’s passionate about what he does. If you do go (you have to) make sure your ready for so much fun
THIS EXPERIENCING WAS AMAZING!!!! amazing staff, very friendly and welcoming yet know how to put you on your toes before you start. great lengthy walk, absolutely terrifying but bloody fantastic. if you’re going to queenstown this is a MUST!!
Really fun. Had a good scare. Staff very friendly. Would recommend to friends and family. Would do it again in the future.
My wife and I visited the Fear Factory today in Queenstown.if you like a good scare I recommend this place. My ears are still bleeding from my wife's screams. We will both be sleeping with one eye open tonight lol Is definitely a must do if stopping in to Queenstown Matt and Tina From Australia
This is a fantastic scare house at a place with an eerie history to it (once a church, then a brothel now a haunted house) located in central Queenstown this fear inducing place needs a visit if you’d like some adrenaline raising fun …in the holidays there are hidden haunting actors that take you by surprise on your way through the scare house, the staff here are great and it was a perfect end to my trip to Queenstown NZ!
We booked the scare factor as two family groups with kids, there were 6 that did it in total. It costs $150 all up with a bookme discount (so much cheaper than reg price). One of the kids called chicken (code word to get out) 30 secs into the experience, the lights went on and the whole group was escorted out. The other 5 people had to repay again to redo it, some decided they didnt want to pay again so 2 of them redid it. We though considering it was literally the first part and had been under 1 min inside the experience that requiring repayment for the rest of the group wasnt fair. When the other 2 of the group re did it, they loved it but it took them 7 mins in total to get from start to finish. They loved it but the repaying put a massive damper on it, especially considering we were the only ones there. I think they need to reconsider the repaying and making the entire group leave if 1 person wants out. All in all we spent over $200 for 2 people for 7 mins. Another thing is perhaps do them in smaller groups so you dont have the experience we had.
Fun outing in Queenstown that resulted in us going to the Fear Factory. Had a fun time and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I recommend and will definitely go again :)
Went with family (incl teens). Fear kicked in for a couple of them and were terrified. Brilliant. We had so much fun, I laughed the whole way through. Very quick, but also great entertainment
This was awesome! My friend is really into horror movies and I'm up for anything so off we went, not knowing how much of a thrill we were in for. Something totally different to do that will have you talking about it to your mates for ages.
If you lean into this experience it is amazing. We all decided not to overthink it and allow ourselves to be scared.if you think yourself too cool and cynical then this is probably not for you. If however you are prepared to be a kid again then go for it. Our advice… put the most frightened person at the front.
This is a great experience. I've travelled a lot and haven't seen this type of "fun" on offer in many parts of the world. It's very reasonably priced for such a high quality adventure. We did the virtual one (no real actors) and it was brilliant. Sooo scary! I can only imagine how terrifying the real actors experience is. Took hours for my heartrate to go down. The staff are gorgeous, getting you revved up for your walk through, even convinced me to go in front. I was so scared I ripped the Fitbit off my wife's arm. Photo is from before it was torn off. We lost the Fitbit and realized back at the hotel. Simon turned on the lights and found it after we left, rang me and left it at reception for us. Fantastic service from start to finish. I'll be talking about the Fear Factory for years. Highly recommend.
I haven't laughed so much in ages! I went with family and I was at the back which was scary when the actors would run up behind us or make a noise in my ear - so creepy when you're in the pitch black! But it was great fun and we laughed (and screamed) so much! I would definitely go again
Enveloped in darkness, never knowing what to expect. I liked that they didn't tap you, no physical contact. The suspense and fear of walking in the dark not knowing who or what was going to appear or step out was definitely spooky enough. Laughed and screamed all at the same time.
The worst customer experience ever. The staff on shift in the afternoon were so entitled and were not listening to whatever we have to say as customers. They were blaming us for everything and as customer service agents that was not nice to experience . We hope it is not the same for everyone and u guys work on your customer service. All love✌🏿
Highly recommended. A lot of fun for the family. We had a few hours to spare before flying home, and this was a great little filler.
Although my sibling and I had to chicken out after about 3 minutes, I have to leave a great review because the staff and atmosphere were amazing, however it just wasn’t for us and that was not the business’ fault. I think it would be great with a big group of friends, though!
Spent the night in queenstown and decided to go here ot was Super fun, lovely people, worth going for sure, amazing work guys
It is a really childish tour, maybe fun for under 10. It lasted less than 10 minutes, is not worth the money, even though the place looks pretty cool.
