Enthusiastic, kind, and knowledgeable guides who took the time to engage with whole family. Family Adventures run an extremely well organised, fun, tour with attention to details that made us feel very comfortable and well looked after.

So fun! Perfect for families with young children. Ours is only 3 yrs old and he had a great time. Nothing was too scary or dangerous for him. Our guide Mark was friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. The gear you are provided keeps you warm and you don’t need to bring anything except maybe a towel for after if you plan on taking a dip in the river during the experience as it’s allowed in a couple of spots. Lots of great photo opps so bring waterprooof camera or cases. Will definitely do this again on next trip here

This is a family friendly experience with emphasis put on time spent swimming/floating in the beautiful Shotover River. The guides are very supportive and considerate of your skill and comfort levels. It was a great experience with my 13yr old kids.

We had an amazing time with Family adventures and couldn’t recommend them highly enough. My husband and I took our two children, aged five and only just three, on a rafting trip and the staff were so friendly and accommodating and absolutely wonderful with the kids. They were nervous at first but Josh, Mark and Georgia were so great with them that they soon relaxed and were having a wonderful time. We felt entirely safe and well looked after the whole time, everything ran smoothly and the small touches like helping the kids get changed into their gear, and providing cookies at the end really made the experience extra special.

Had an awesome day with Georgia and Josh. Josh kept things lively with a steady stream of dad-joke energy, very festive, very committed. The drive through Skippers Canyon was epic. The rapids were approachable and a lot of fun, and Georgia made the whole experience feel safe and relaxed while still keeping it exciting. Plenty of laughs and splashing around. Would absolutely recommend. Thanks legends!

Mark is equal parts professional and hilarious. Mark and Georgie were calm and confident, allowing our family to fully enjoy our experience knowing everything was taken care of efficiently and with a smile. The ability to entertain and inform a range of ages from 5 to 45 is a true skill, not to mention the ease with which they handle the river and the road. If you are wondering whether you should do this tour, the answer is yes!

We went on a rafting experience. Josh, Mark, and the crew were really great. We had a great laugh on the bus and had a super experience on the water. I would highly recommend this.

We had such a fun time on this trip. The drive into Skipper’s Canyon was so interesting and then the rafting was amazing! The experience is so well organised with all the equipment and gear you need to wear. Our guides, Simon and Josh, were fantastic. A must do if you’re in Queenstown.

Such a great adventure. The views were incredible and the guides were very knowledgeable and fun. Training was very comprehensive. Highly recommend this trip. The drive to the put-in is scary and exhilarating at the same time. Loved getting splashed by the jet boats, it is voluntary and required all onboard to agree. Ready to do the higher class part of the river.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Family Adventures Queenstown. Our kids (ages 7, 5 and 3) had the best time white water rafting, and the whole experience was perfectly tailored for families. Huge thanks to Georgia, Simon, and Josh, they were all incredible guides, friendly, professional, and made everyone feel safe and included. They were especially patient and kind with our not so keen 3 year old, who eventually warmed up to the experience and ended up enjoying it, which made a world of difference for our whole family. The kids’ highlights were surviving the “wibbly wobbly” section of the river and getting to jump in for a swim, which they’re still talking about A truly memorable family adventure and something we’ll be talking about for years. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Queenstown with kids.

What a great experience with Mark and Georgina! They took us from queenstown, to getting ourselves ready, rafting and back in a seemless and easy way. The rafting itself was great fun, easy to do for the youger kids (9 and 11), and the grandparents, yet enough to have fun even for the adults. I definitely recommend it for families. I also highly recommend taking the photo package, its much better than trying to bring your own gear, and Mark takes great and fun photos! Its the best value photo package I ever came accross in these kinds of activity (who needs a printed photo - they provide many photos in digital format, over 30+ when taking only the good ones).

This was our most fun Queenstown activity. Georgia made the bus trip interesting with her hilarious commentary. The team were all fun & excellent communicators for both kids and adults. The rapids were just the right amount of thrill for kids. The drive there and back along Skippers Rd is hair-raising though (Simon did an excellent job)! A minor point …more info on what to bring/wear and more snacks please.

Fantastic guides, nature and rafting. Fully recommend. Better than expected rafting . Only slightly annoying thing was the charge of the photos.

Fun, Friendly and informative guides. Lots of fun with Josh as our guide. Spectacular scenery as we rafted down the Shotover river. Great to listen to the history about the early Gold miners…and loved the homemade cookies at the end!

Fabulous trip. Cannot fault a single thing about the experience. Truly unbelievable scenery, great rafting grade 1-2 not over challenging but perfect for family. Brilliant guides Georgia, Simon and Mark. Lots of stories and interesting facts about the mining as well.

our boys 3 and 4 loved the experience. We had such a great time. I was worried about the coldness but it was great with the wetsuits. Definatly highly recommend doing this with small kids.

This was an amazing experience for our entire family. It was mom and dads first time and we’re adventurous and this satisfied our desire for adventure. That said we also had an 8 year old , 6 year old, and 3 (almost 4) year old with us and fun was had by all. Our 3 year old was tentative and they accommodated her and the older boys each could do as much or as little as they wanted. We loved it and highly recommend.

Family adventures rafting was the perfect experience crafted for our family. Our 11 and 5 year old loved the trip and our guide M was awesome! What great memories to last us for our lifetime! Highly recommend the rafting ( and the accompanying scary but made hilarious !! bus ride to the canyon and back!)

Luke and Mark were brilliant on the water. Mark brilliant driver on the narrow road. Would have loved a hot drink when we finished. But a great time.

This was such a fun ride! Simon was our guide and was very knowledgeable and created a fun environment for all. One of my friends had a recent surgery, and he made her feel safe, secure but confident to do the rafting. It was a very nice and pleasant ride, from beginning to end. I would highly recommend to people who are maybe a little nervous and want to give rafting a try, those with small children, or those who want a little thrill without a ton of hard work involved. We truly had an amazing time!

First time we have done this, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Simon and the crew made for an enjoyable experience. Spay yourself with insect repellent as there are quite a few sandflies around

The views were amazing and we even had a scenic ride to the place we departed from. Our coordinaters were super funny and personable and it made for an amazing day!

Excellent trip for families. We went with our 6 year old. The river was low so it was extremely calm, but still good fun. We enjoyed the trip through skippers canyon learning about the history first, and heard more about it as we travelled down the river. Our guides were very friendly and knowledgeable and really made the trip. I toyed with doing the jet boating after but we didn't, and I have no regrets. The trip was enough in itself.

Simon, Georgia, Mark and Luke made our absolutely the best highlight of our Queenstown holiday by being thorough, entertained and looked after the whole experience. Beautiful scenaries in the pristine clean glacier water made the best rafting experience so far among all our past rafting trips.

Had such an amazing time rafting the rapids - this was the highlight of our South Island tour! Simon, Georgia and his team are the absolute best at what they do!! We were well taken care of by such a solid team. The views from start to finish were incredible. Such an unforgettable, flawless experience not to be missed.

I did the Family Rafting trip with my adult daughter who has a disability and Mark (our rafting guide) was extremely accommodating of her needs. The trip in and out of Skippers Canyon was incredibly scenic so this added to the actually rafting trip. We had a very enjoyable morning and I’d definitely recommend this trip for anyone wanting to experience Skippers Canyon and soak up the gorgeous scenery on the Shotover river. The rafting was gentle and lots of fun, topped off by a swim.

Perfect rafting experience for beginners and families with kids aged 14 and under. The experience provides rafting at an entry level which also enables the unique experience of getting out of the raft now and then and into the water for additional fun.

We wanted to do a rafting trip but were stymied by our daughter not quite being 13. So for us family adventures allowed us to go on a gentler rafting trip. The scenery to get there is both hair raising and spectacular. Mountain passes, canyons and big drops - but they drive you there safely. The Shotover River in skippers canyon is like no other. Clear cool waters, aquamarine colours. The white water rafting is very gentle - so not for those looking for extreme fun. However we got to jump off into the river (optional) and float down - feeling a part of it all. Safety is adhered to at all times - a must for those wanting a fun but gentle experience!

Amazing view and experience for families with young kids! Kids (aged6-9) enjoyed the water rafting and we learnt about Queenstown mining history. Highly recommend!!

Amazing trip! The river is stunning, rafting was so much fun, we got to jump in the river too. I've never known as skilled and confident driver as Simon, he made the scary road look easy. Our guide Holly was amazing, she's an absolute Ox and coolest chick around! She had loads of stories and information about the history, as well as being an epic guide in the boat. Such a great trip! Thank you for a fun day!

Family adventures rafting was great, shuttle drivers holly and Luke did a good job trying to make the trip as best as could be, the road through skippers canyon was brutal, holly was amazing, arrrived at base camp to get kitted up with thermals and wetsuit, then off up river for a great trip back, Mark was our guide and photographer, he was great, good knowledge and sense of humour and most importantly knew the river well. They stopped along the way for a cool dip and then a rock jump into the fresh water, 🥶🥶🥶 then back to base for a cookie time before the return up skippers canyon. Would we recommend to people with kids, In the words of our 11 year old “it was fully sick bruh” so yes we would.

Fun, unique experience that the entire family can be involved in. Tour guides were fun and kept us laughing. Beautiful part of the country that we explored both on the bus and raft.

This was a great adventure. The bus trip to the river was an experience on its own and not something you get to do without an experienced driver. The team were fun and made us feel safe the whole time. The rafting was very low key, not at all scary, but still fun. A great family experience. Our 12 & 15 year old loved it.

Wonderful trip perfect for a family from Grandma to 8 year old. The guides were fantastic and very knowledgeable about the area and really encouraging to all the people on the raft. Highly recommend for families to add to the itinerary for a Queenstown trip.

Fun trip for younger children as the rapid is mild and most enjoyable. The tour leaders were v patient and helpful.

We had an amazing trip down the river with our kids aged 5-13 who all loved it. A great taste of white water rafting which the whole family enjoyed. The bus ride in to the river was more adrenaline pumping than the river itself, and the views were incredible the whole way. All the Family Adventures staff were very friendly and entertaining with commentary along the way about the gold rush history of the area. 100% would recommend for families with younger children, or someone wanting to do white water rafting but isn’t an adrenaline junkie.

Our guides were amazing and funny too! The drive up the mountain and down to the river was also an exciting part of the trip. We had a great time. Would highly recommend this river rafting tour.

Great fun for the entire family. Went with two young kids and they had a blast. The only reason I'm not giving this a perfect score is something that really is out of their control, but quite annoying. Sand flies. Other than the flies, it was an incredible experience.

This experience is a MUST DO for anyone visiting Tāhuna Queenstown. The scenery is absolutely incredible - so different to anywhere else in the region and you get to see and experience it in such a special way. The guides make you feel so safe while still keeping up the sense of adventure. I'd recommend this to people with all water level experience - everyone will enjoy it.
