Excellent bikes, great service. The ride was beautiful and it was lovely to be able to stop at Carrick Winery for lunch.

It’s definitely worth it! Their ebike is incredibly comfortable and easy to ride, and the view from Lake Dunstan is simply breathtaking. We made the right choice by choosing Kiwi Journey, and their friendly staff made the experience even better.
Great ride on the Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail. Nice to have the flexibility to cycle back to Cromwell in our own time rather than needing to meet a shuttle timing. Comfortable e-bikes made the ride more enjoyable while taking in the scenery.
Great service, very professional bike workshop set up and great local info provided by the guides. Highly recommend. A+
Excellent day from start to finish. Great welcome, safety and course briefing plus bike fitting. Shuttle to Clyde where a local cafe provided coffee and scones before hitting the road. Good quality e-bikes on very well marked trail. Some steep sections and hairpins handled well by the bike. The grade 3 bits not too difficult but very walkable as not too long. Scenery stunning. The optional stop at the winery for pizza (and wine) is a must. High winds for last 10km but had plenty of juice in the e-bike to increase the power. We are in our mid 60s and had a great day. Took us about 4 hours including stops. Wonderful.
Very, very good service provided by Kiwi Journeys! We rented a full suspension e-bike and a hard tail non-electric bike. Before we arrived, the staff made sure those were really the right bikes for us. Quality of the bikes was way above an average rental. We got dropped off at the Clyde end of the trail and cycled all the way back to Cromwell. Briefing was good and clear, and staff was happy and friendly. The tour was wonderful. All in all, I’d highly recommend riding the Lake Dunstan Trail with Kiwi Journeys!
Fantastic and friendly service from the guys at Cromwell. Very easy to rent bikes. They were in top condition and were very well maintained - all gears working, excellent brakes and a pannier. Awesome advice for a nice coffee at Clyde after being dropped off by shuttle. Would recommend and definitely use them again.
Easy to book and prompt responses. Trail amazing - no concerns. Disappointments were: Advised to be there at 9.00 a.m for shuttle Cromwell to Clyde. Arrived on time. Our group plus 1 other. Shuttle left 9.45 a.m. Wasted time and no need to be there so early especially as we were group of 4 and only 5 people total. Advised 3.5 to 4 hrs to do trail. We are experienced cyclists and had e-bikes. We were rushing to get bikes back by 4pm deadline. Took us 5.5 hours no stopping. Credit card overcharged (were advised) then refunded later. Called 3pm day prior to ask to go day later due forecast (winter/off season). Advised $50 (total) fee to change as hadn’t been done by noon. Whilst in small print I think it rather ‘mean’ . Subsequently discounted to $25 (total) . Bikes themselves good. Given we have hired multiple times in the area, doubt we would use this particular company again when many other competitors to choose from.
The team is just a team. From the start of my booking until the end of our trip was a great experience. Most of the time they were fully book and was excited to book the bikes and I forgot to placed my booking number. Sandra was great in managing to able to get our refund out of the discount price. When we arrived in their shop on that day, wveryone is friendly and welcoming. They were all patient to tell us how to use ebikes as a first timer user. They made us reassured that we will be fine and will enjoy the trail. Our driver -sorry we did not got her name - was great having a wee tour and telling us the history of the ladder and other things. She made us sure we will not get lost in getting back to their shop.BTW we went from Clyde to Cromwell which I will recommend too.You will not be pressured in your cycling.
A magical cycling 6 days in Central Otago from Cromwell to Waihola. All organised by Kiwi Journey from e-bikes and accomodations. Many highlights and mentioned a few Lake Dunstan, Roxburgh George Trail and Clyde cycle trail.
We recently rode the Dunstan Trail and Roxburgh Gorge in April, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The landscapes were absolutely stunning – dramatic, peaceful, and uniquely Central Otago. We completed both rides without e-bikes, and while there were a few hills, they were very manageable for the whole family. The trails are well maintained and offer a great mix of challenge and enjoyment. Our tour hosts were exceptional – informative, caring, punctual, and great communicators. The bikes provided were in excellent condition and well-suited to the terrain. We can’t recommend these rides – and the tour hosts – highly enough. If you’re looking for a scenic and well-supported cycling adventure, this is it!
Great bikes (complete with panniers/handlebar bags, and repair kits). Bikes beautifully maintained and actually big enough for me (a very rare rental thing). Had both 20" + 24" for our kids. As for the actual rides we did (family including 6 + 8 year olds) - gorgeous and varied. Would highly recommend!
Kiwi Journeys gave us a great pre ride briefing, so we felt well informed and confident. The bikes were well specked for the terrain which certainly helped the enjoyment of the day. We have used Kiwi Journeys before and would definitely use them again.
An absolutely brilliant ride along Lake Dunstan from Clyde to Cromwell. The trail is very well maintained and clearly marked. E-bikes recommended and makes the trail suitable for those with average or above cycling experience. We would recommend the Clyde to Cromwell direction is best, due to one reasonably steep descent midway. Kiwi Journey's were very helpful on this and multiple other rides we completed in Central Otage. Very friendly staff, prompt pick-ups over multiple days and very helpful in planning all our cycling adventures in Central Otago. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We will use this company again when we return. Highly recommended!
We had pre-booked bikes on-line with no hassle, user-friendly website. The staff were friendly & helpful. Gary explained the route thoroughly & made sure we were happy with our bikes & their set up. 👍 He also took us down to the jetty to meet the Dunstan Explorer as we were doing the Lake Dunstan Track from Clyde to Cromwell. Second time using KiwiJourneys & would highly recommend them.
We chose a four day cycle including Dunstan, Roxburgh and Clutha Gold trails. Kiwi Journeys did a great job of organising everything from shuttles, bike hire and accommodation and really did their best to fit in around our scheduling requirements. We made our own alterations to the standard package and this was no problem for them. The trip itself was fantastic- stunning scenery, amazing trails in excellent condition and overall a seamless and stress-free adventure.
Amazing time, team were so helpful and friendly. Nothing was a bother. We went in a group and everything was organised was a dream will be back to do more
Such amazing people to deal with and made one of our adventurers feel extra special. So well organised and super friendly.
Amazing crew to get you fitted on bikes, took the boat back from Clyde to Cromwell after the ride. Even has enough time to get a swim in. Awesome bike ride, great views and got lots of photos and footage. Well build track when spots to take a break for lunch
Great ride great view great kiwi journey team, giving great advice, I recommend go with the flow so much so I’m doing it again with kiwi journeys
We did a four day from Lake Dunstan through to Lawrence following the Clutha River. The service was excellent, bikes amazing bag transfers seamless. We stayed at great accommodation. The whole week was perfect Thoroughly recommended.
Great service from start to finish, including the team having a concern about our daughter’s bike so while we were on the boat to Clyde, a new bike was driven out to replace it. The ride was awesome, something for everyone, and the pizza and beer and Carrick Winery after 30km were a great reward. My wife said I should have got the e-bike, she was probably right!
Can't fault our experience... from booking to when our bikes were collected from us. A wonderful company, value for money, good old fashioned friendly Kiwi service. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. We had a German friend with us and she was amazed at the service and friendliness. as for the bike ride...can't imagine anything more spectacular...world class all round. We will be back. Thankyou. grant.
Challenging but fun, beautiful ride! My husband and I are both big MTB riders, so we opted for the regular bike hire (not e-bikes). Wow, there was a lot of climbing (2200 ft, 670 m) and narrow switchbacks! We enjoyed the challenge and the gorgeous scenery but we were definitely tired by the end of the ride. We got snacks and beverages at the winery so that helped us finish the last 30 minutes or so. It was very warm (about 80° F, 27°C) so glad I brought extra water and snacks. Most people we encountered were in e-bikes so the hills were a bit easier for them!
Kiwi Journeys were an excellent provider for our cycle of the Dunstan and Roxburgh Gorge trails. Their shuttle service is superb and they delivered exactly what they said they would- in style! We have cycled using 5 other providers on different rides and the e-bikes provided by cycle journeys were the best. They performed faultlessly and were very easy to ride. All in all we would unreservedly recommend Kiwi Journeys for anyone wanting to hire bikes to ride the Dunstan trail or Roxburgh Gorge from Cromwell or from Queenstown using their shuttle service. They’re good!
Kiwi Journeys supplied good quality, well serviced cycles and transport to and from the start and end of our ride. The team also provided several ' local knowledge' tips from great places to eat to advice on how to negotiate the trail safely. Our experience of the Lake Dunstan Trail was enhanced by dealing with Kiwi Journeys.
Rode the Dunstan Trail and Otago Rail Trail with Kiwi Journeys. Unbelievable ride with a totally professional company. Great service, friendly people and high quality bikes. The trip organised had us staying in amazing unique accommodations with every host being welcoming and friendly. Even lunch in tiny towns was sensational. Highly recommend this trip and travelling with Kiwi Journeys. Big thanks to Sandra, Gary and the amazing Danny 🤠✔️
