A long day iin the bus but worth it for the beautiful tour of Quebec and the waterfall. Tour guide was energetic and informative.
Perfect little trip. The experience was wonderful and offered a great opportunity to see the highlights.
My sister inlaw and I really enjoyed the tour and the Driver and tour guide were incredible. They were really patient with as we had a had time finding parking. But our overall experience was great
My experience with the Quebec City and Montmorency Falls day trip from Montreal was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible, with heavy, continuous rain, strong winds, and cold temperatures throughout the day. While I understand that weather is beyond anyone’s control, I was disappointed by how poorly the situation was handled by both Viator and Gray Line/Coach Tours. The weather made it extremely difficult to enjoy the tour or properly explore Quebec City. We were soaking wet, cold, and uncomfortable for most of the day. Despite these conditions, the tour guide would not allow us to stop to purchase raincoats, and we were not provided with umbrellas or other protection from the elements. We also were not permitted to remain on the bus to stay warm and dry. What made the experience even more frustrating was seeing other tour groups whose operators provided umbrellas to their guests. This demonstrated that there were ways to make the experience more comfortable, even in bad weather. We hardly had the opportunity to enjoy Quebec City because of the conditions, yet when I contacted Viator and Gray Line/Coach Tours, neither was willing to offer a refund or even a credit to use toward the excursion on another day. I understand that rain is a normal part of travel, and I do not expect a company to control the weather. However, there is a difference between ordinary rain and spending an entire day in cold, pouring rain while being soaked and unable to enjoy the experience you paid for. Customer service should mean more than simply enforcing a no-refund policy. A little understanding, flexibility, or a credit toward another date would have gone a long way toward making this situation right. I am extremely disappointed with Viator’s handling of this matter and the overall service provided by Gray Line/Coach Tours. I paid for an enjoyable sightseeing experience, but instead spent much of the day cold, wet, and uncomfortable, with very little opportunity to appreciate the destinations. I would encourage anyone considering this excursion to be aware of how the tour operator handles severe weather conditions and what options, if any, are available if the experience cannot be enjoyed as advertised. Based on my experience, I would be hesitant to book another excursion through Viator or this tour operator.

I really appreciated the flexible booking and the option to change the date.🤗 The start was frustrating, though. I arrived early as it was requested, but all people were left waiting outside without explanation, and the room inside was tiny. Just before boarding, I was sent back to print my ticket despite having the QR code on my phone. There was a queue, with one person printing tickets and checking a handwritten list. My first and last names were incorrect. Luckily, it got much better after that!☀️ It took me a little time to get used to our driver Serge’s sense of humour🙃, but he was helpful and shared interesting things along the way. Our Québec City guide, Katia, was lovely too. I loved having free time to explore Québec City. I would have preferred more time at the waterfall and for breakfast, rather than the food stop on the way back. Still, they fitted a lot into one day, and the price felt very fair. Overall, a great experience that inspired me to come back and explore Québec City at a slower pace! 🍂💛
Long bus trip…Mo our driver was awesome. We mentioned to Tara in Montreal how disappointed we were. Our guide spoke French & English even though we were all English, she lost our interest in the first 5 minutes. Waste of time going to the falls as we didn’t have time to go up. We suggest you go there before touring Quebec City. We enjoyed the guides in Montreal.
Did a day trip from Montreal. Long day but worth it. Our bus driver was great. Didn’t really need the short off trip to the falls. Would have preferred to stay in old Quebec which is so beautiful.
When I booked on Trip Advisor it connected me to Viator. I paid in full, was to meet at the Ritz Carlton at 8AM, and had a confirmed receipt. Apparently I was required to confirm the ticket with Viator 24 hrs in advance, which doesn’t make sense since I had a confirmed ticket and receipt. When I called to inquire about the bus not being there, Viator directed me to the local tour operator who reported previous similar problems in poor communication and missed trips through Viator. Viator gave me a very quick and set response to my written complaint saying it was my error and they would not offer any type of refund. Viator has ignored my request for additional communication on this and has not offered any apology or resolution. They should not be recommended by Trip Advisor.
I booked the tour in English, it was not. Everything was said in both French and English. This was most time consuming particularly when out walking with the guide, who was very good. There was a set time allocated for the walk around Quebec, because each stop required details to be given twice I don’t believe we saw everything that we should have. This view is based on what others have said they saw, who did the tour in one language.
Trip went as expected (long travel, some guided tour and some freetime). A taste of Quebec City for anyone who doesn't have time to stay in the city overnight. The guide was amazing, you can tell that she's very passionnate about her job and we learnt a lot about Quebec history. Make sure to call the guide operator to ask about pick-up and departure times.
Highly recommend this tour! It was the perfect day trip from Montreal. We loved that the tour included both Quebec City and Montmorency Falls, and while the time at the falls is quick it's plenty of time to enjoy the beauty and snap a few photos. Our tour guide Chantal was wonderful and provided lots of helpful information about the city, history, and tips for our free time wandering. The city can feel crowded so I recommend having a plan for your time off to make sure you get to enjoy everything, but we had plenty of time to explore. Although more time would have been great, since it is a bit of a drive we enjoyed the balance and being home around 8pm.
They drop you off at a different location than pick up, so you had better know how to use the Metro when you return to Montreal.
This was a good excursion. Our guide was fun and very knowledgeable. The bus was older but reasonably comfortable. The stop on the way to Quebec City was at a very small rest stop with very limited bathrooms and one checkout register in the store. It was impossible to go to the bathroom AND buy a snack in the time allotted. The stop on the way back was much better with two fast food type restaurants a gift store and lots of bathrooms. The order of the trip was unusual. We went to Quebec for an hour tour then to the falls for 40 minutes then back to Quebec for a 2.5 hours on our own. It seemed like a waste of time to go to and from the falls in the middle of the trip. Overall, we reallly liked the trip but would have loved it if the trip was not broken up the way it was.
Tour was informative and good. Verify pick up and especially drop off locations. The bus driver was instructed to drop CLOSE to hotel. Between accents and quickness of speaking, there was communication breakdown and we missed our drop off location.
Good tour. Enjoyed the history. Our tour guide Mark was very knowledgeable. The plan for meeting the tour bus at the end was very confusing. Omar our bus driver was very nice and helpful to us. He helped us get a ride to our hotel. He was a very kind person.
We had a wonderful time on the Quebec City day tour! Our guide was a local and incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s history, culture, and hidden gems. Her love and pride for her hometown truly came through in every story she shared, making the tour feel authentic and personal. It was a memorable experience, and we highly recommend this tour!
Quebec City and the waterfall are worth a trip, but the majority of the day was spent driving over and coming back. Our trip was also impacted by a marathon being run in QC and traffic was at a crawl. This is probably not the best way to see the city.
A great day trip from Montreal to explore Québec City and Montmorency Falls. The guide was friendly and informative, and the scenery was beautiful. Overall, it was a convenient and enjoyable experience.
This tour was really worth the travel time. The driver was excellent, very knowledgeable and kept us informed on geography and history of the areas we travelled. Quebec City was wonderful . Don’t miss it..
A must do day trip if you’re visiting Montreal. Especially beautiful the in fall. The falls were impressive.
The trip was very timely which we appreciate but if they could extend it just slightly to allow 10-15 more minutes at the Falls and 30 more minutes in Quebec City that would be wonderful
Travelers need to be patient during travel time as unexpected delays in traffic can result in itinerary changes. Our driver Serge did a wonderful job of trying to satisfy all travelers
I would give zero star if I can. The tour did not State pick up time on the confirmation email, on the email, it said the tour starts at 8am, but they said they send message to viator’s portal to have us called them to confirm pick up time. We are traveling and cannot keep checking Viator’s APP, they did not even bother to call. Then we showed up at pick up location at 8am and missed the bus, we called and was told our pickup time was 7:15, and they refused to refund.
Great tour guide. Very informative. Beautiful city. Enjoyed our free time. Great day overall. Great food too!
Hotel pickup is about 40 mins before start of tour. Takes about 3.5 hrs one way. Walk in old Quebec City (lower level) experience was excellent due to exuberance of Ms. Chantal (Mary Poppins :-)). Entry to Notre Dame Church is restricted during Marriage or Mass. More time could be provided at Montmorency falls.
Great trip. Be prepared to bring breakfast/lunch to eat on the bus on the way there. We weren’t able to grab food until 2pm - when the bus left Montreal at 8am. We were very hungry.
This is the second 12 hour+ trip I’ve booked with Viator, after swearing I would never book another one after the first experience. You spend most of the day (2 hours 50 minutes each way) on an old bus with no tour guide to narrate as you drive, and rest stops are not the nicest. When you finally get to Quebec City, the walking tour is lacking. It’s is not much of a tour at all but is aimed at orienting everyone, which is fine, but there’s was not a lot of meaningful political or military history conveyed by by Chantelle, our tour guide. Instead she could have been a spokesperson for the Quebec tourism ministry, focusing on how “nature” activities are only 30 minutes from the city center, and the myriad sports activities she engages in. We also had to hear about Canadian “free” healthcare, free concerts, free water, cheap electricity, and how great it is that plummeting birth rates and immigration have started making Quebec’s French Canadian Catholic culture more diverse, (thank God of course), how abortion on demand is everywhere, and how no one can own a gun in Canada. I didn’t take this tour to learn about any of that. When she did briefly mention the American invasion of Quebec in December 1775, she provided zero context, but said the American hatred of the British was the main impetus (she was just flat out wrong and zipped through key elements of Quebec’s history frenetically). The trip to Montmorency Falls was really not that impressive and wasted almost an hour of the day, time that could been better spent in Quebec City. There needs to be a tour that excludes this excursion. Quebec City is charming but we only spent about 2.5 hours on our own, whereas the tour is advertised as 3 hours. It’s simply not enough time to explore the old city.
The experience was very good. Only drawback was not enough time at the falls.
I booked this experience expecting a tour in English only. However it was bilingual (French and English) which made it very difficult to follow. Thank goodness I had called 2 days earlier than my tour date to confirm my hotel pickup location and time because they didn't have it even though my ticket showed the correct pickup location. Also, even though my ticket said the drop-off location would be the same as the pick-up spot...wrong. They bus driver said the shuttle back to our hotel closed down at noon so he dropped me and my mother (in her 70s) off on the side of a busy street in Chinatown next to a homeless encampment at night, and no street lighting. We were approached by 2 homeless men and felt very unsafe for 2 women. It took us at least 15-20 minutes to find our way back to our hotel. The description didn't say anything about the fact that you need to be in good physical condition for this tour. It is on steep, cobblestoned roads and stairs that could be slippery for anyone with any physical limitations. Dont mention the bathroom situation - there were limited facilities. You don't get to eat until at least 2:00 pm which could be an issue for some, especially since you leave the station by 8 am but hotel pickup could be much earlier. Overall, there was a lot to be desired and their description was very deceiving.
The bus was dirty! The seats were SO close together that you could hardly sit in them and I'm a slim female. The man in front of me reclined his seat so that there was NO space for me. When I tried to recline, the people behind me kept hitting & pushing my seat and I explained to them that the person in front of me reclined his seat completely and that left me NO option, but to recline my seat. The person in front of me refused to put his seat up or up part of the way. The bus shook! I don't know if it was the shocks and/or struts, but it was a very uncomfortable, bumpy ride on smooth road ways. AWFUL!!! I would not recommend!
We were disappointed with this trip as part of this trip was canceled by the trip operator; which is Coach Canada. When we got to Quebec City, we did a brief walkinng tour and we then re-boarded the coach bus to go the falls (a major reason why we booked this trip) and the driver told us he could not start the bus and that he deemed the problem was the starter with the bus and that part of the trip will not happen..canceling our trip to the falls leaving us with extra time to walk around a smaller area. As we got off the bus, my wife and I noticed the bus driver put on a pair of gloves and appeared he would fix the bus himself. When does a coach driver change a starter for a major bus company and would a coach driver carry a spare starter with him? I think the answer to the above is never to both and the driver did not want to go to the falls. I questioned the driver if we needed to take our belongings with us since a bus change might happen. The driver assured us all the bus would be fixed. The bus would work fine (it did before as well) since there was nothing wrong with the bus on the other stops. This whole thing looked like a game the driver plays sometimes to avoid working too hard. He also made a speech a couple of times about tips which made me feel uneasy; on that a bus driver needs to get tipped since he does not get paid well. We are diappointed with this provider as we used this booking service before in Panama and everything was fine there. However, not the case in Canada.
The guide in Quebec was awesome. The plan was to do lower Quebec first, go to the falls, do a driving tour of upper Quebec and then have free time. However, after our walking tour of lower Quebec the bus wouldn’t start. The guide had to pivot fast and ended up spending more time with us than planned. We didn’t get to see the falls at all which is very disappointing.
Take snacks and something to drink with you. There is a stop both going and coming, but just enough time for the washroom, not enough time to get food. ***Take some cash to leave a tip for the tour guide and also to the driver***
A small bus picked us up late (after my calling twice) and shuttled us to a practically full coach bus. So we had sit in last rows of bus. Then due to an accident on the highway we were 2 hours late getting to Quebec City so visiting the Falls was eliminated and the guided tour cut short. Then when we finally got back to Montreal we were dropped off a 13 min walk away from our hotel after 8pm. There were 5 of us walking so at least there was safety in numbers. The guide and driver were both dealing with a difficult situation because of the accident so I have to give them some leeway. Coach Canada and/or Grey Lines though handled the pickup horribly. If we had gotten on the road earlier we might've avoided the accident. The lateness getting tour started is their responsibility as they didnt organize pickups in proper manner. Alot of the discontentment and disappointment today could've been avoided.
Great day trip that made it easy to visit Quebec City. Cheaper than the train though I’m sure that’s a great experience as well. It was easy to meet up with Serg our driver who was wonderful and kept us on track. Chantal our local guide was so energetic and shared QC with us and inspired us to come back to enjoy the city in the winter.
you sent an email of confirmation today pick up at 0800 in the hotel NOBODY CAME !!!!! when I called the operator she told me that was an incorrect confirmation since in this hotel the pick up would be 0725 THEREFORE WE LOST THE DAY. They booked again for tomorrow at 0725 BUT CHANGED ALL OUR LIFE I consider this fact a big error from your side
Our guide was local, could speak three languages and very knowledgeable on city, history and a native to Quebec.
The tour operator refused to accommodate me since they didn’t receive confirmation, but I had no idea of the requirement as I had already downloaded the tickets and considered the tour confirmed. They did not reach out to confirm either. This is my worst experience with Viator and I think I should be refunded and compensated for my wasted time, expense and effort preparing for the tour
The guide in Quebec was good but neither pickup nor dropoff is reliable. I booked the tour for Saturday, and did it on Friday afternoon, requesting pickup from the hotel I was staying at (it was on the list). I sat outside for more than 30 monutes but nobody came and nobody contacted me. Turned out that they had expected me to confirm with the driver minimum 24 hours before (I couldn't as I hadn't yet booked 24 hours before). They offered me to go Sunday instead and I took that offer and this time I was picked up by a minibus. The trip to Quebec was uneventful but when dropping off the driver mentioned hotels at the first stop and mine was not among them. And not among those at the next stop either. I was getting worried and asked and then he told me I should have gotten off at the first stop and then walked for like hálf an hour. Blamed me for not having notified him. Then he came to the final stop, the office of the tour company, dropped everyone off and told me there was a metrostation nearby (turned out it was 9 minutes' walk and 5 minutes at the other end). I was not pleased with that and then he referred me to the office. The office was locked. Then he told me there was someone in there, whom I should talk to. A young woman came out and offered to order a taxi. I did not take that offer, - I don't like taxis but would have taken a taxi if it had been considered the tour company's responsibility, but that was not the case. I ended up running in the dark to the hotel, a 35 minutes' run. I survived.
Was never picked up and was told our refund would be denied without any explanation. A lost day for 5 senior travellers coming from far south in South America, offering a rebooking with a tight schedule and no refund is a terrible service.
Great value for money. Frank our driver was friendly and caring. This tour offers a quiet, no fuss ride to and from QC city. We met up with the tour guide upon arrival for a short visit through the lower town. He then accompanied us to Montmorency Falls. On our drive back we went through the town of QC city to give us more of a local flavour. Midway stop both on the way to and on the way back. Suggestions for improvement: - The tour departed 25mins late. Please depart on time and also please start earlier at 7am instead of 8am so that we have more free time in QC city as 2 hours is not enough to explore this charming city. - Please provide a wearable mic to the driver so he doesn't need to drive with one hand while holding the mic in the other hand. - Please also fix the echo in the mic as it was very difficult to understand the driver's instructions as the sound came out muffled.
A fantastic trip to Quebec City. Bus driver always told us what to expect. Guide at Quebec City and Waterfalls was superb!! Personable, good sense of humor and outstanding historian! A perfect day!! Couldn't have done it on our own!!
This is a scam. They confirmed our reservation, took our money and left us stranded. After calls to the tour company and Viator we were SOL. Do not participate in this tour. Just drive yourself.
It was really nice to see the Montmorency Falls but was disappointed with our tour guide.
It is a basic touch & go trip considering the one way commute of 3 hours from Montreal to Quebec. The guide who appeared on Quebec city was bi-lingual but spoke in a rush as if she had a syllabus to cover before her time ended. The bus took us around many places but did not stop, which they could for 10minutes easily, like Parliament House, Planes of Abraham etc. Later on our free time going to those places with an uphill walk, would have been tight and was not possible.
Confortable and well organized
The tour started 45 minutes late because apparently the bus was in the garage and needed some maintenance. It was an uneventful long drive to Quebec City to pick up the guide. She was with us for about an hour and a half talking in French and English, which I did not particularly care for the switching back-and-forth. We barely had half an hour to see the Falls, which were not that impressive, especially in August. Then we drove a little bit around Quebec as she pointed out some sights and gave her commentary. It was very hurried because it felt like we were making up for the lost time as a result of the bus being late. We were dropped off and had exactly 2 hours and 45 minutes to explore Quebec City on our own. Because the bus was delayed in the morning, we opted out of our 15 minute rest stop and just drove straight four hours without getting off the bus. I was not impressed with how they ran this tour and I cannot in good faith recommend it to anyone. Take the train and explore beautiful Quebec City on your own!
The BAD- The driver informed us that he has been in the company for 30 years. He then explained further that we would be with him for 10 hours in the tour so he expects a 15 percent tip. He said that this is the normal gratuity in Quebec and his expectation was to receive this! He had the audacity to show us how to calculate it by looking at the receipt that we paid for the tour and his expected tip is equivalent to the taxes in our receipt! He further stressed that the guide who will meet us in Quebec City will ONLY be with us for 2 hours and we should not forget the 10 hours we will be with him compared to the 2 hours with the guide when calculating his tip. He curses when asked simple questions! Why not just answer it nicely? He is not an asset to the company. Everyone was talking about how unprofessional he was. It is time for him to retire or be retrained. THE GOOD- Karin the guide in Quebec City was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, high energy and respectful. The tour was provided by COACH CANADA. I would still recommend for anyone to go see Quebec City because it is a very beautiful place and the guide in the city was fantastic. However, if it is the same driver with the same sour and unprofessional attitude who is more interested in talking about his TIP that is there, write a review in COACH CANADA site and don't give him any TIP!
