Laura was excellent. Location a bit difficult to find. A sign or flag would have been helpful since it was in a common op n area.
This tour was well worth it. Our guide Stephanie made the information so interesting and had so much expression you wanted to listen. The pace was quick and the places we saw/ heard about was the highlight of our Montreal visit.
Fantastic tour, learnt a lot about Montreal's and canadian history . We were given an insight into the people, traditions, culture and more Visited many sites in a whistle stop tour. We revisted some of the places the following day and also some of the recommended sites and places to eat. Stephanie was a terrific , enthusiastic ,knowledgable guide.
Jamie was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and personable and willing to go way beyond the confines of the tour to help us on our overall understanding of Montreal activities and history!
We very much enjoyed a wonderful, informative, entertaining tour lead by Stephanie from Free Old Montreal Tour. Stephanie was very engaging and you can tell how proud she is to help us learn about her beautiful city. She was able to provide deep political, religious, and historical information about Montreal. She did it in a very engaging, energetic, and entertaining way. We highly recommend this tour. And, it would be a special bonus with Stephanie as your guide. She also provided us with a list of suggested eateries, and bars, shops and activities by neighborhood. A gold mine for us visitors.
It was very informative and the guide Stephanie made it very interesting- and pace was perfect. She was great
We loved touring with Stéphanie. She was funny and informative for our visit to Montreal.
Stephanie was excellent. A good frend and Montreal native decided to join....he was very impressed with her knowledge, her enthusiasm and the sites chose. As a newcomer to Montreal it was very helpful. Worth it!
An excellent enthusiastic guide
Joanne was a wonderful guide! She is knowledgeable and interesting. We got a sense of Canadian history.
Stephanie was super! Dynamic, fun, friendly, full of information. She adapted with no stress when a church was unexpectedly closed (we went elsewhere and came back).
Fabulous! Francoise was knowledge. informative, and easy to listen to.
Francoise was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. Gave the tour time for a comfort break half way for those who required it
Sandrine was an excellent guide. The way she put the various stops into historical and contemporary contexts brought the tour alive. She also seemed to capture and hold the interest of everyone in the group. I would have liked the tour to include the Monument aux Pionniers and its surroundings rather than Montreal underground and the Convention Centre, but Sandrine had clearly put a lot of thought into ending the tour at the Conference Centre. I recommend this tour with Sandrine.
Laura was a wonderful tour guide. She’s extremely knowledgeable about Montreal history and culture. We learned so much from her. She also gave us excellent restaurant recommendations, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Laura was truly delightful, and would highly recommend booking this tour!
We walked all over with friends who have lived in this region their entire lives
Super interesting tour through Montreal. Ann our tour guide was funny and shared a lot of interesting facts about Montreal, Quebec state and the French history in Canada. Highly recommend this tour.
I would give it 0 stars if i could. Unfortunately the company Secret Food Tours cancelled our tour after it had already started. So we paid for the tour, made the effort to get downtown for 10am, and stood around waiting from 955am to 1025am and no guide ever showed up. I never got an email saying the tour was cancelled or any communication. The only reason we figured it out is because the other tourists also waiting there for the tour got an email from Viator who they had booked with saying it was cancelled. The poor communication from trip advisor and SFT is extremely disappointing. I ended up getting the cancellation email from trip advisor at 330pm (lmao) and have requested a refund.
Received email cancelling the walk right when it was suppose to start. Supposedly booking fee is refunded but we will see.
My 12 year old son, 10 year old daughter and I learned a great deal about Quebec and Canada's early history thanks to this tour and the wonderful tour guide. Would highly recommend.
priced right。 Sandy just is a knowledgeble person who does lead us in old town of Montreal! however the weather was bad and the street was pretty slippery so i felt down and had to leave the group earlier…
Our guide Gabriel was exceptional. Even as a Canadian, we learned a lot. He offered a great blend of historical and cultural details with a comical twist. The 2 1/2 hours just flew by.
Very good overview of Old Montreal's important sites. Francoise spoke clearly and audibly in English, with a slight but delightful accent She gave us an easy to follow history of Montreal that was tied to the sites we visited, with interesting anecdotal information. Best wayAn excellent way to begin our visit. Merci, Francoise!
Guide never showed up. The group waited until 10:25 when one person received an email saying the tour was cancelled. Now have to fight with them to get money back.
Excellent walking tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and provided wonderful insights for other areas of the city to explore during our stay.
Frances was amazing. So informative with the history of Montréal and very helpful with tips for places to go, bus number to take etc. would highly recommend.
Francoise, our guide, was very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic to answer questions. The tempo of the tour was perfect to keep up with. We always could hear her speak very well.
Ann Marie was terrific! Really enjoyed our tour and her recommendations for the rest of our trip. Well paced and informative tour.
Laura was an amazing guide! Incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. She gave us an interesting, thoughtful historical dive into the city and personalized travel/food recommendations. Thank you, Laura!
Francois had a real interest in the past of Montreal which made her fascinating to listen to. She could answer any random question put to her.
Standard walking tour. No better or worse than others we have attended
Stephanie was a wonderful local guide. She was very knowledgeable and energetic and started with only 4 in her group because of rain but was able to gain some of the others later on. She covered lots of topics about the history, and French/British rivalry over the years. Although there was one church that we couldn't visit because of Mass service on Sunday, she talked about the interior in detail and recommended we return (we were glad we did!). She had a wonderful sheet filled with her personal recommendations for dining, bars, neighborhoods, and more which we found useful. We would recommend this tour for others and it gave us a good perspective on the history of Montreal, Quebec province and more. She only gets tips. None of the booking fee goes to her.
Laura’s knowledge about Old Montreal was shared in a friendly way with interesting stories and anecdotes. She helped us to understand how Montreal came to be the city it is today. Laura was very open and responsible to questions. The tour moved at a very good pace. I would highly recommend this tour. It made me curious to explore more about this city. Thank you.
Very enjoyable with a knowledgeable local tour guide that was born and raised on the island. Her insight and authenticity helped elevate the experience. The history shared and stops were interesting and provided a good baseline to understand the region.
Our tour of Old Town Montreal was wonderful, informative and funny too, thanks to our guide Laura. She was knowledgeable and informative while explaining the history of Montreal and its people and culture. Laura’s enthusiasm and spirited discussions helped us to better understand and enjoy our visit to Montreal! We highly recommend a tour to start your visit.
Laura was great. Very detailed histories provided. Covered a lot of places around Old Montreal. Gave practical tips on best eateries.
Not reliable, tour guide never showed. The guide stranded 10 people, no contact from the company. We had to call and the guide never responded to the companies call or email.
The guide was exceptional. Lots of info but not an overload. Relevant and engaging, with an obvious interest in the tour goers. She left time for questions, and kept the tour moving at a good pace. Highly recommend.
Do not book this - unreliable and bad communication- cancelled tour at last minute and left 7 of us some who drove two hours to get here.
Tour with Chris was great. He genuinely enjoys sharing the history of the city. Kids ages 9, 11, and 13 were engaged and the pace was perfect!
I arrived 20 minutes early to our meeting point, and stayed 15 minutes after the proposed start of the walking tour. The Tour Guide never showed! I found a walking tour online with great explanations of important landmarks. Save money, and just use the online tour!
Not very interesting. One good story about a sculptor and that was it for us. We were going to drop out but hoped it would get better. It didn’t.
Sandy was amazing! This tour was a great way to see the old city and to learn about the history of Montreal. Sandy was incredibly wonderful!
Excellent tour of old montreal. Very interesting and fast paced with info on history and modern montreal. A great way to get your bearings. Fantastic guide.
We had a very enjoyable tour of the Old City with Laura. She was an extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide. It was a great way to begin our vacation as Laura provided a great landscape of the city including the underground and the Metro. She also shared her great knowledge of the different neighborhoods and food in Montreal while providing an insight to the history of the city, with great stories of her upbringing and her own experiences.
We were 2 for the tour on a cold, rainy Wednesday for the 10.30 tour, starting at city hall (hotel de ville). Stephanie, our guide, was fantastic. She charmed us with her dramatic flair and blend of history, facts and knowledge. Nothing too strenuous; a good pace was maintained with some indoor stops. We went to lunch at Crew Cafe afterwards. Highly recommended.
Stefanie is the best! She was very entertaining and showed us all the famous sights. The rain didnr stop us and she always tried to have us standing under a roof of some sort. It was lovely!
Enjoyable tour of Old Montreal. Guide very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw much of the old part of town and she gave us lots of tips and advice.
Very informative and entertaining. It was just long enough and didn't have too many people on our tour. Great for people of all ages.
