Very good guide. She provided solid information in thoughtful, entertaining way. I really appreciated being in a small group. She made sure we could hear her.
Great tour. Excellent guide. It was very informative and we were able to see so many things.
It was very informative and interesting. Our guide Amielle was wonderful. Covered alot of the Old City in two hours. Excellent
Louise was the absolute best. Our tour was perfect, even with a little bit of wind. You could just tell she is so incredibly passionate about Montreal and it's history. We felt like we got to see all the highlights of the city and finished with so much new knowledge. (We even ran into 2 of our fellow tour-mates at the hockey game later that night!) Highly highly recommend booking with this company. The perfect excursion. (The meeting point also had great coffee and pastries to start our day)
Guide was lovely and knowledgeable but the information shared was all about the HISTORY. Way to history deep for a walking tour. We stood by one monument for 30 min and discussed the history behind it. Not what I was looking for. Very boring unless all you care about is history.
Tour guide was exceptional. Funny. Offered great information. Great people skills. Had an in-depth knowledgeable of the history.
Am was a knowledgeable guide. learned a lot of the history of Montreal.
Highly recommend this walking tour. It was informative, interesting and efficient. It was the perfect introduction to the history of Montreal. Our tour guide, Sylvia, was great, knowledgeable, professional and kind.
Isabella provided great information with a warm enthusiasm. I learned a lot. The next day I visited the archeological museum. The information that learned from her really enhanced the experience.
It was wonderful tour. Our guide was very good . We moved at a very manageable pace. The tour was suitable for almost all levels of fitness .
It’s a great launch for learning the history of the city and introducing you to things you can further explore on your own. Loved our guide, his enthusiasm and the fact that it was with a small group!
Our tour guide Louis was the best! The pace of the tour was just right, it made our trip 10 times better learning the history behind this beautiful city. After the tour, Louis gave us some great recommendations from restaurants and other attractions around Montreal. You can not miss this tour in your stay! Thanks again to Louis and his wonderful advice.
Great tour guide with lots of information and interesting stories about Old Montreal. Loved all the recommendations for places to check out after our tour.
Caroline, our tour guide, was amazing. She knew a lot about the history of the city, specifically, and Canada, in general. She was funny. Although it was a two-hour tour, it felt like the time went by quickly because we were having such a good time. The people on the tour ranged from an older couple who knew virtually nothing of the history of the city, to others who had been to Montreal many times and were looking for more information about the Old City. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Darren, of MTL Detours, was our guide for the Old Montreal walking tour. The tour was exceptional: we enjoyed the entire experience, and it appeared everyone in our small group did also. Darren was very well informed, animated, interesting, and humorous, and provided a wealth of historical, architectural, and cultural information, while covering numerous sights and locations. The walk was gentle in terms of exertion, but the area covered much of the old city area and gave us a good grounding for our further explorations. Darren also provided many useful tips for navigating the city and whatever sightseeing interests each of us had for the rest of the day or visit. Well worth the time and price. We look forward to booking another MTL Detours tour on our next trip.
Great tour. Darrin was the guide. Super knowledgeable and a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend this tour
Really saw a side of Montreal that was very cool. Gabriella was a fantastic guide who showed us so much of the Old Town. A must for visitors
Even though it was a little chilly on the day of the tour, it was an enjoyable experience. I learned a lot about MTL.
We thought we were going to be late and were able to call the company's phone number, get an actual human being to speak to, and let them know that we may be running late. That person let our tour guide know. We ended up arriving on time but the guide had received the message that we may be late. It is good to know that we were able to reach an actual person on the phone! The guide was good and the tour was nice.
I’m very glad we took this tour as I learned a great deal. Louise was a terrific guide - knowledgeable, friendly, and generally fun to be with.
It was very informative. We learned a lot about the city. Louis was a wonderful guide. You won't be disappointed.
Louse was a wonderful guide. She gave us so much information in a really interesting and fun way and tied everything together. I learned so much about the history of Montreal from the Indigenous people until today. Highly recommend.
This tour was exceptional! Louise took us though Montreal’s history - distant past to the very present in such an engaging way that time flew by (historically and chronologically). She was sensitive to all groups talked about, to those in our group and those around us. We’d now take ANY MTL Detours offered! Thanks Loise!
Learned so much about Montreal from our guide Francois. He was funny, energetic, knowledgeable. We walked at a good pace but stopped enough to have plenty of time to listen and ask questions.
Very good tour to explore old Montreal in more detail. Sylvia was very knowledgeable and provided a great tour.
François was a terrific guide; he has a real passion for the history and architecture of Montreal with his deep Francophile roots.
Prepare for the weather. It can be cold in the fall. Two hours is the perfect balance to see the area. Take the tour when you first arrive - you will get good advice on things you may want to do on your visit.
This tour was a great overall experience! It is our first time in Montreal and Caroline our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining! The tour gave us a great idea of the area and some history.
Francois was very knowledgeable, a wealth of information! He was friendly and engaging. I'd recommend this tour .
Louise our tour guide was superb. Very knowledgeable, engaging, and enthusiastic. And flat out fun. Great value for the money and an excellent way to start our three day visit in Montreal.
Louise was our guide and she was extremely knowledgeable, and personable. She organized the material in such a way that it was easy to understand the evolution of the city of Montreal. I would strongly recommend this tour to any first time visitors to Montreal.
Our guide, Amelie, did a great job telling us the history of Montreal then and now. She also pointed out the architecture of the Scots, English and French.
What a lovely tour! Our tour guide, Elise, was knowledgeable about Montréal and Vieux-Montréal alike. She shared lots of fun facts about the places we covered on foot, and had some great recommendations not just for dining, shopping, sight-seeing, but also for bookstore-hopping. I also appreciated that she provided us with useful tips on how to communicate with Montréalers like a pro…errr, at least helped us sound less like a tourist. The cherry on top was at the end of the tour, she gifted us beautiful postcards, maple syrup candies, and two full pages of local recommendations in Montréal. Highly recommended this walking tour!
Wonderful guide, good information, great experience! Thanks, Anne Marie!!

Our guide, Louise, was an excellent story teller. We enjoyed learning about the history of Montreal from her specific POV. She kept the pace comfortable for everyone and answered questions patiently and knowledgeably. She also shared prime spots not to be missed for the rest of our trip. I’d recommend this tour to anyone, especially first time visitors.
Wonderful orientation of old Montreal. Carolyn was a super guide, informative, fun and punctual! We had only arrived and this helped us get our bearings, provided lots of useful background plus hints and tips of places to visit, eat in and drink at.
Louise was passionate, funny, knowledgeable, interesting, and open to questions. A very good tour.
Isabelle was a fantastic guide: charming, funny and really informative. We really enjoyed our walking tour of Old Montreal with her, and it was a great introduction to the city. Highly recommend!
Emilie was very knowledgeable, articulate, friendly, and engaging. She made the tour of of Old Montreal come alive with anecdotes, well-researched historical facts, and relevant cultural references. She was open to questions, generous with recommendations, and very approachable. I was on my own for this tour, and she made the entire group feel welcome. I highly recommend this tour with Emilie. What a great way to understand the context of present-day Montreal through its history.
This tour was informative and entertaining. Isabel our knowledgeable guide covered history, culture and food really helping to orient us to this wonderful city. If you visit Montreal, this tour should be the first thing you do!
My mom and I came to Montreal for a few days of vacation and decided to begin our adventure with a walking tour of Old Montreal. So glad we booked with MTL Detours. Everything about the experience was perfect and Louise was a wonderful guide. We especially loved being in such a small group. Highly recommend this tour!
A great walking tour around Montreal. Our guide Silvia was full of knowledge, didn’t rely on notes or had to check google. The folder she did have was full of photos to help bring the narrative to life . .the tour was wall to wall of information and facts. The tour covered a lot of ground, mostly old part and nothing was too much trouble if you had a question – answers came freely and with conviction and it showed that she really knew her content, her city and history. She was also really engaging, personable and presented well. It started to rain whilst we were on the tour, but that didn’t stop us – take an umbrella and good walking shoes. A nice touch at the end of the tour with the handouts of postcard, maple syrup candy and 2 sided A4 paper detailing restaurants, places to see, considerations to explore if stuck for ideas – nice touch! Well worth the price you pay and what was interesting is tipping is not pushed onto you, it’s not even mentioned (even though it states in the booking blurb). I think only 2 couples tipped (us and 1 other), which was a little disappointing to see as whilst Silva was not asking, she certainly deserved it
Very good tour. Our guide, Louise, was very knowledgeable and presented the tour in an engaging way.
A great 2hr walking tour to learn about the history of Montreal. Louise, our tour guide, knew her stuff and was engaging with her audience
