This dinner was definitely not worth what you pay for it. I have been to several Michelin star restaurants, and they put together a much better meal than what this gentleman put together, and it made a lot more sense in terms of movement from course to course. In addition, the duck that he served was undercooked and difficult to eat. The wine was good and the company was lively, which is what salvaged the evening. For the money I would recommend you just go to a really nice restaurant in Montreal.

Itinerary
This is Montreal's most sought after Supper Club. It is a 5-course menu cooked by an award-winning Chef, Writer, and Creative Director (Travel+Leisure, Wallpaper*/Phaidon; Fullerton Hotel Singapore, etc.). Combining the best parts of home cooking with market-fresh ingredients, the 5 course menu tells the story of Montreal's historic immigrant communities through food, with a hyper-seasonal menu whose vegetables and proteins change with each market visit. It takes place in an historic 1800's loft in Montreal's Old Port and can also be paired with walking food tours and cooking classes on request. The Chef cooks every dish and dinners are capped at 12 people (unless private). Larger corporate, team, and private bookings are available.

This experience well exceeded my expectations! Came here for my bachelor party and we were a total of 9. Chef Rob not only paired his courses with a wonderful selection of beverages, he paired each course with the story of its ingredients and the importance of it to not only him personally, but of Montreals story. Chef Rob is very personable and the atmosphere is absolutely as if he invited you into his own home (it’s not. it’s a very cute loft). He was able to enrich not only our palates but our knowledge of food and community. I came into this experience not truly knowing what to expect as after having a conversation with chef on the phone, I can sense his true passion is in cooking and entertaining and I just knew I wouldn’t be let down by his food because he has this unique desire to present food in the proper way it’s supposed to. I am thankful to Chef Rob.
This is an unusual dinner experience. The chef provided details and background on his choice of ingredients and how and why he presented them in each dish. He also paired them with wines and music to provide a more immersive experience. The setting was what appeared to be an apartment in old Montreal and we were grouped together at one table to allow for everyone to enjoy the evening together.
Chef Rob prepared a spectacular meal with five courses paired with beautiful unique wines. He is a true master of his craft. Each course was was presented with unique flavors that I doubt you will find in any restaurant. His passion for what he does is evident with every bite that you take of his fantastic food. His place is an eclectic loft style space with an intimate table for guest meant to allow for mingling.. Chef Rob is a world traveled chef who brings his incredible local knowledge of spices and ingredients and lovingly prepares each course to be a delightful experience. Sign up for this incredible experience, you will not be disappointed. Oh, he also has incredible knowledge of the best places to stay and eat at while in Montreal. He seems more than happy to share that information with guests.
Chef Rob was phenomenal at describing the history of Montreal and the food scene- he shared his experiences and passion for ingredients with great detail and expertise. The loft was in a beautiful and in a bustling part of Montreal. It was a great experience and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a fun and relaxing dinner while visiting this diverse city.
This is a must try experience when you are visiting Montreal! If you are a foodie and appreciate good stories behind the inspiration of dishes, you need to come check this out! Every single dish we've had that evening was well executed and loved that it came with pairing of alcohol and music. The venue is conveniently located in Old Montreal and the host provided clear instructions for access. The event started on time and we loved the intimate setting of a smaller group. Our chef was an excellent host; he took the time to explain each dish to us and also provided us with local restaurant recommendations. We will definitely do this again when we're back in town!
The meal and wine selections were amazing! Chef Rob was knowledgeable and passionate when talking about each item involved with the meal. He made the best of the situation despite a fuse blowing on the stove. Throughout the meal he would give suggestions of restaurants to check out in Montreal and other cities. This was such a great experience and would recommend highly.
One of the best experiences in Montreal. The chef was knowledgeable, professional and great story teller. Will recommend to everyone visiting Montreal
This was such a unique night. Chef Rob makes delicious food, but the experience is so much more than just a typical meal. Each course brought different flavours from different Montreal cuisines and a story to bring them all together. The energy in the room, the communal Chef’s table in view of the kitchen, and the stylish Old Port atmosphere were just superb. I recommend this for anyone who cares about not just dining, but also culture.
I gave this as a gift for family. Although they had a good time because of the other guests that were present they did not enjoy the food. The duck dish was inedible. Tough to cut let alone eat. For the cost of dinner I would think a different more friendly menu would have been chosen. The wines were excellent thank goodness.
We attended this dinner on December 25th, Christmas Day, and it costs far more than it is worth. First of all, it is located on the 4th floor of an old, dirty building with no elevator. Instead of napkins, they give you kitchen rags. Wine glasses are not changed when switching wines; in fact, the “chef” even asks diners to rinse their own glasses and pour the water into a plastic container. The food is merely good, but well below what the chef boasts about. On top of that, he treats his assistant in a demeaning manner. The only positive aspect of the evening was the other guests at the table, who were very kind—a family from Germany and another from the U.S. The chef made inappropriate comments regarding the guests’ nationalities and even demonstrated his ignorance by stating that Mexico is not in North America. He refused to shake hands with my son’s girlfriend, who was the one who made the reservation. When I asked for a particular wine that he was serving, he refused, arguing that I could taste it with the diner next to me—yet he also refused to give that wine to the other diner, despite the fact that we paid a significant amount for the wine pairing. Throughout the evening, the chef repeatedly claimed he had spent a lot on our ingredients and beverages, but in reality he serves cheap cider and the ingredients are not what he claims them to be. I am writing this review because, at the end of the dinner, after everyone had left, I kindly offered the chef some feedback, and he rudely told me to post a review instead. Honestly, Montreal is full of excellent restaurants and real chefs who are truly worth it—so look for another option.
Super food and chef! The stories about each course were great. I would recomend to anyone who loves food!
An enjoyable experience that had pros and cons Pros: The food was great, excellent use of seasoning that created an interesting blend of flavors. Plated presentation was good. The chef is well trained and knowledgeable. Con’s: It’s called a Supper Club but it is really a Pop Up in a friends kitchen The location is a run down 4 story apartment building. You have to climb to the 4th floor (8 stair sections) which were not very clean. It seemed over priced since most, not all, of the ingredients were fairly simple and available. The $250 Canadian bottle of red wine was $62 Canadian at a local liquor store the next morning.
The food here was honestly really good — you can tell the chef knows what they’re doing. Everything came out fresh, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. I was super impressed with the cooking! That said, the setting just didn’t match the quality of the food. The space felt a bit tight and not very comfortable for a sit-down dinner. It kind of took away from the overall experience. I’d definitely come back for the food, but I really hope they improve the atmosphere — the chef’s food deserves a better setup.
Great experience. Chef Rob shares the diversity of Montreal's culture through a culinary experience. I met two very interesting couples, and it was a great time. Highly unique and even quirky, but I like quirky. To address some of the negative comments on Viator, please note that this is a tasting menu, not an all-you-can-eat buffet. The focus is on quality, not quantity. Think tapas portions. Also, the venue may, and probably will, change based on the number of participants. At my tasting, it was me and two other couples, so it was moved to an artist's loft just blocks away from the original location. This was more interesting and intimate. Chef Rob prefers to communicate via WhatsApp, and you get a flurry of messages the day before, finalizing the location and time. Finally, some have mentioned Chef Rob's demeanor. He is very focused, so you need to ask questions if he doesn't introduce himself or explain a food completely. He's very open and very direct. It's all part of the experience. Enjoy it!
I booked this as part of a get-away for my wife and my 10th anniversary. I'm definitely more of an introvert so showing up to a bit of a 'clandestine' location to meet up with a handful of strangers wasn't my idea of a good time, but I wanted to do something special for my wife so I sucked it up. Thank God I did. The food was phenomenal, Chef Rob told some really interesting stories and the other people we ate with became our short-term best friends. It was a really great time and I'm incredibly glad we did it. I would recommend it to anyone.
Loved the artsy space and the flavors reflecting different communities in Montreal. Definitely something to try for those seeking a more personal dining experience with a passionate chef.
Wonderful and delicious. Funky setting, very knowledgeable chef. Recommend this to any foodies coming to Montreal.
This was unique and special. The Chef was so passionate and each course was inspired by a different community.
The cost of this event was way too high for the food, wine and overall experience. The food was good not great, My wife and i left hungry and annoyed. The chef was EXTREMELY opinionated, rather unlikable and a very poor communicator. The chef coerced me to pay him directly for the wine ($78.80 for just me) as compared to paying thru Viator. He said Viator will mark it up significantly, so i should just buy the wine through him. He served a Rose’ which i hate and something that he described as a drink for those who hate beer, which i also didnt imbibe. For close to $80, he did not pour my first glass of a nice wine until halfway thru the meal. I was given 2 glasses of wine, one white, one red and a small glass of another white wine. Talk about being taken. The actual meal was good, albeit portions were a little small plus his duck dish was bare, nothing served with it. The balance if the meal, like the Chef, was off. It could have used a star h and a sweet. His final course was a local cheese, which was tasty. With a blackberry and a blackberry sauce; no dessert! The first message i had received provided a meeting place address that was not correct. The venue was on the 4th floor of an older building with no elevator. 2 of the women following the event comments to me outside afterwards how disappointed they were. I have had a few events with Viator and some if my trust has eroded. In closing, towards the end of the meal, the chef mentioned a number of restaurants in Montreal that he would not recommend. Ihad only wished that i had his list prior to his event and that his establishment were on that list!
The food was delicious and knowledge around the meal was inspiring ! The communication Chef Rob felt very personal!
Super unique experience. The flavors were complex and the stories the chef told deep. I would recommend to abound wanting a deeper food experience in montreak.
Chef Rob is the chef you have been looking for. Food is expertly prepared and served with in-depth explanation of culture, origin, and ingredients. The experience of small group dining allows for comfortable conversation with just met diners. This is an experience that you have been looking for from a very competent and professional chef. The food and flavors are delectable.
Family of 5 + one other person was at our meal. Chef Rob held the event in an apartment so we all sat around a table next to the open plan kitchen while he cooked the meal ( the meal prep had been done earlier). The food was great - fresh and good flavors. He talked us through each course and that added to the experience. Lots of text messages thru WhatsApp to get final details of address and drink pairings which was a little stressful but it all worked out. Not cheap once you include drinks and tip but overall a memorable evening.
The experience was pretty casual. There was a 5 story walk up which would have been impossible for some guests. The service was not very polished. Server was also eating when not serving. The Chef did not introduce himself. The venue was very fun and energetic- an artist's loft. The food was excellent and well prepared but some courses lacked visual appearance. Guests were often expected to serve their own beverages and then still leave a tip. The server reached across guests to deliver the food. It was a very pleasant experience but the service was definitely lacking.
Chef Rob has traveled the world and incorporated flavors from many cuisines into his cooking. He prepared dishes with local ingredients and some exotic spices. He shared interesting stories associated with each dish. Wine pairing is also available as an option.
We purchased this experience primarily for the meal, and the meal did not disappoint. Delicious and accompanied by lovely wines and good conversation. The downfall was the location. First, this was Chef's temporary location, and it was not terribly inviting. It was in a rather unexceptional loft that was a 4 level walk up. This information was not conveyed in advance and could certsinly be a deal breaker. The stairway was steep and very grimy. The meal was so incredible that it overcame the surroundings, so I would still highly recommend this experience.if youre up for a climb.
Wonderful night with a chef who is also a story teller. ✨ Each course had big flavors and represented a different community. Cozy unique building located in old Montreal!
If you’re looking for a truly memorable dining experience in Montreal, Chef Rob’s supper club tasting menu is an absolute must. Every course was beautifully crafted and delicious — a perfect balance of creativity, flavor, and presentation. Chef Rob personally introduced each dish, adding a thoughtful and engaging touch that made the evening feel both intimate and special. For those who don’t drink alcohol, the mocktails and curated teas paired with each course were phenomenal — carefully selected to enhance the flavors of the food without missing a beat. It’s clear that just as much attention was given to the non-alcoholic pairings as the food itself. The setting is cozy and elegant, with a small group of fellow diners that made the night feel like a shared experience rather than just another meal out. It’s rare to find a place where everything — from the food and drinks to the atmosphere and service — feels so intentionally crafted. Whether you’re a local or visiting the city, make this supper club a priority. Highly recommended.
It's something different to do but the upsell on the backend is a turn off. Water comes with the experience but to add hot tea or wine, it's an additional $32 - $58 per person. However, a different tea/wine is served with each tasting. Please note that you will leave hungry. And you will be asked to be prepared to tip 15-20% before arriving. Which is fine, in theory, but the experience is held in a personal apartment and not a restaurant or food establishment. My husband liked the idea of being in an apartment vs a restaurant. The Chef was knowledgeable and friendly and the dishes were interesting but I would not do it again. My husband really valued the experience and said he's glad we had the opportunity to enjoy the evening with 6 other very cool people.
An excellent experience. The food and drink pairings were themselves paired with wonderful story which not only explained the origin of the food and it's relation to the city, but the culinary reasons behind the ingredients. The food itself was nice and light but bursting with flavor. Maybe it's the "big fat American" in me, but we did get a basket of fries at a local pub after just to round off the meal. But back to the flavor - each bite was something new, it ringed excitement in the pallet and made me want for more - a want rewarded with yet another dish packed with new flavors. "Drink pairings" always make me raise an eyebrow... But this time, I understood. Take a bite of the food, savor it, swallow (giggity), and then immediately sip the drink and, ahhhh now I understand. As an experience, it was lovely. We made new friends for the night. Six others were sat at our table and we chatted through the night about our travels, where we were from, where we're going to next, what we should do in the city... The entire experience is a vibe lovers delight. If you're an extrovert, this itself is a delicious treat. If you're an introvert, the setting is intimate enough to also enjoy with your significant other. The conversations with others at the table are more close in nature and one-on-one, all buttressed by the fabulous chef who comes around to pour more wine, tell you about the food, and answer questions. All in all, I would not only do a supper club experience again, I would do it here, in Montreal, with Chef Rob. Incredible food, delectable drink, outstanding service and story, and immaculate vibes all around. 10/10 highly recommended.
A great experience for a small group 5 course tasting. Chef Rob was not only a gracious host inviting us into his home, but most importantly an amazing chef. Food and wine pairings were spot on.
The experience was like sitting down at a family gathering, but meeting everyone at the table for the first time. The flavors & tasting of exotic dishes that have never touched my palate before. Chef Rob left every one of us wanting more of every plate. Each dish came prepared with decades of worldly culinary history, knowledge, and traditional preparation. I will be recommending this to family, friends, and coworkers, visiting Montreal, and wanting a culinary experience to remember.
Rob my chef was so knowledgeable and really provided me with great food and great culture. I was so impressed I decided to join him on his tour the next day even though it was snowing and freezing but what a great time. Rob also checked in on me to see if I needed any recommendations so he definitely goes above and beyond. Thank you for making my trip to Montreal a memorable one.
This was an amazing meal experience. The 5 courses followed a theme telling the story of modern Montreal. The food and wine pairings were outstanding. It’s an intimate setting with a group of strangers who become friends over the course of the event. Truly remarkable culinary experience with some foods and combinations I’ve never had before. You can tell the Chef not only understands Montreal but has traveled and lived other cultures extensively.
Chef Rob served us a fantastic meal and we also did 2 city tours with him. Loved it! I would love to return and do another tasting menu with him.
It’s a wonderful intimate experience. Chef Rob is so knowledgeable and has so many stories to share. He made us feel right at home.. Wine and beer pairings were such a great touch.!
OMG. Chef Rob was absolutely fantastic. The food and wine selection was amazing. He explained every ingredient and wine selection thoroughly. An experience like no other. First class all the way. The small setting only added to the ambiance.
I spent a week in Montreal and the supper club was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I went solo but there was another person booked on the same evening. Fortunately, she was interesting and lovely to chat with. Chef Rob served 5 courses that were out of this world, and he provided lots of information about the foods, and how they were cooked, etc. I wish I had recorded everything because my memory is not that great, but here is a rough list: Mozzarella & tomatoes with kimchi Beer reduced sauce over pork belly with mango on cucumber slices White asparagus on beetroot yoghurt over a reduced sauce Sliced duck with Thai chili sauce Raw goat cheese with tart berry sauce The meal was absolutely fantastic! My favorite course was the pork belly. I'm a sucker for the crispy skin and that melt in your mouth taste. I decided to go with the no-alcohol option because I didn't want 5 glasses of wine or cider to numb my tastebuds. I'm glad I did that. Chef Rob served 5 different teas to go with the meal. They were good but I would have liked at least one or two mocktails. Not a big deal but the only drawback. However, I did snap a picture of the 2 ciders that were served. I hope they are available by export.
