I booked this excursion because I know my wife loves ciders. I wanted to get us out of Quebec City for a bit. From the Nougats to the ice wine and vinegars we bought a few of each because there’s a lot to like out of Quebec. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the nature too.

Very enjoyable-a variety of stops and the driving around the island was beautiful. The driver was friendly and would recommend.
Martin was a great tour guide and the four places we visited provided a good amount of samples. You are able to spend a decent amount of time at each location before needing to board the bus.
This was an excellent experience. Four stops, a total of 3 1/2 hours. The presentation at each stop was superb and informative; the samples were excellent. Our guide - Dan- did an excellent job; he was informative with just enough humor. Recommended.
Enjoyed tour with Dan on the island. Tasted candy, cider, wine and vinegar! Vinegar might have been my favorite. Only gave 4 stars because road was very rough and I have a bad back.
Wonderful experience! Tasty tour! Loved hearing about how this treat is made and the history behind it!
This is a wonderful tour. You get to see the Quebec countryside, learn about the history of the area, try the local products and overall have a good time. The views alone are breathtaking.
The stops were so GREAT. The tour guide was not. Talked negatively about a lot of things. Repeated about eight of his stories. Told us more about himself than the place. Strange experience. Doesn’t have much in the way of social skills.
A refreshing afternoon on a beautiful farmland island. It was so nice to spend the day tasting what the local farmers make! I wanted to bring a lot home with me but my suitcase was almost full!!
Nice locations, friendly business owners who shared stories with us. The climbing on and off the bus was a little difficult, but walking around the destinations was easy.
Nice trip. Made four stops On the Ilse de Orleans...my favorite was the Wine and Cider stop. All the venues were pleasant and the host at each site was friendly and informative. The bus was small no more than 30 people I would guess. So not crowded or congested at each stop. Made it easier to look at the offerings...
A great time and wonderful weather. I loved meeting the owners and engaging with them in a smaller group format. The island is amazing and fall is the perfect time of year.
A beautiful day- mid-October is incredible as the leaves were so colorful. The people at the farms were so happy to have us visit.
Enjoyed the tour Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The places visited were interesting and the landscape was beautiful on the island
This experience was fun and informative. Foliage was excellent. Our guide, Peter, was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor bus was comfortable. Highly recommend this experience
A lovely morning trip to see Island of Orleans to taste and learn about the local produce. The cottages and island itself are so picturesque in Autumn so the trip is well worth it.
Fabulous!! Our tour guide, Celine, was very entertaining and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the history of the island and we very much enjoyed all the items we got to taste. Since we are also farmers, we were delighted for the opportunity to visit other farms. 😊
Very nice tour with a number of stops for tastings. Ample time in each area to enjoy. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Beautiful scenery with the fall leaves changing!
Enjoyed the van tour narrated by our driver, Martin. He was experienced, educational and entertaining and welcomed any and all questions and comments. We had 4 stops and each had restroom accommodations. Highly recommend this tour.
This is just a very small sampling of food. Most of the tastings are to prompt you to buy the products. The winery did give you a decent amount of wine compared to the tastings at the other stops, but a bit of bread or crackers would have been nice to go with it. They did have snacks to buy to go along with the tastings. The countryside was absolutely beautiful. Our guide was very friendly, but it was a little bit hard to understand everything he had to say. With all this being said, what we saw was worth the price of the tour. Just not quite what we expected.
Our guide Jean was very kind and as a native of the island, had very good knowledge. All of the places we visited were family run and very interesting. Would definitely recommend this one.
Let me describe this tour. 1. The guide was a surly gentleman who provided limited information about the area. 2. We stopped at 4 stops on Ile d’Orleans, which is beautiful. A. Nougat Place. Informative 5-10 minute video about the process of making nougat. Tiny sampling - about 3 servings of 1/2 teaspoon each. Opportunity to purchase. B. Wine Farm. We received 4-5 samples of their selections. Each sample was about 1/2-1 ounce. We were standing in a shop. Again, opportunity to purchase food and/or wine. C. Vinegar Farm. Great presentation by the owners daughter. Samples were about 1/2 teaspoon. No bread provided. Opportunity to purchase. D. Apple Farm. Here we received a normal flight of 4 wines. We were able to purchase apples for 50 cents CAD. This was a beautiful setting. We were able to sit on picnic tables in the apple orchard. The title implies this is a food tour. The food provided was VERY limited. It was really a tour of a few farms.
I post reviews all the time, and have discovered wonderful spots over the world because of honest reviews. This is my 2nd bad review ever... Our tour operator Martin, should have retired long ago, he is bad for their business. I will say the island itself was beautiful. It would have been nice if it would have included a stop of a picturesque spot for photos. Firstly, there was no signage indicating what the tour was for. He never stood outside, so numerous people were coming on the bus asking questions if it was their tour. He made a remark that this happens all the time, and he commented and made fun of tourists that were asking to many questions. So why would he not just stand outside and say Ile D'Orleans tour here??? He did not interact with everyone on the bus, and did not ask what language we spoke so proceeded to announce everything in English. It wasn't until our first stop at the Vinegar shop when the owner asked if there were French speaking only, and there was... Martin then started conversing in French. He never waited outside the bus for people to disembark when stopping, even though we had many elderly people that were challenged in getting on and off the bus. The only time he stood outside the bus was when the tour ended, waiting for tips as people disembarked. The biggest turnoff was that he was critical the whole trip, openly chatting about politics, the current election, the marathon and how he lost wages, the best restaurants not being the best, and much more. In all my years of travel he is the worst tour operator I have ever encountered. They should be uplifting, vibrant, pointing out fun facts about the city, engaging the audience of tourists, maybe taking interest and asking where they are from?
The tour was a complete waste of time and money. It did not match the description. I do not know how anyone could give it more than 2 stars. I suspect many of the reviews were from paid participants. Read the 1-3 star reviews. It was basically a promotional for the different stops. Tastings (except for the wine tasting) were miniscule and followed by a sales pitch. The nougat/chocolate stop consisted of two fingernail size samples and a 5 min video with English subtitles of the shop history and how nougat is made. The first cider stop had tastings 3-5 ml with little background of how they were made. Then, we were invited to shop. Same for the vinegar stop. Tastings were fine, but the owner and daughter spoke about how to use their products, not how they were made. Again we were invited to purchase their products. The family-owned winery offered standard wine and cider samples, described how they were made, and what to expect when tasting them. There was food for purchase. This was by far the best of the stops. The driver/tour guide was a disaster from start to finish. He failed to gather all participants at the meeting point and walked away with 3 couples. We and the rest of us could have been left if another couple had not notified us he was leaving. He was largely unintelligible as he held the microphone at his mouth, mumbled, and spoke too low for anyone to hear or understand. The driver was more interested in talking about his life, political and social views, and criticizing the traffic. We left the tour without learning about the island’s “historical context and an understanding of the region”. We learned nothing. I do not know how this tour made it though on Viator's site. This was by far the worst experience we have had with Viator.
Yes, the opportunity to make purchases at all 4 stops existed, BUT there was no pressure to do so! The bus driver/tour guide was very knowledgeable of the island's history and current living conditions (he has lived on the island for > 20 yrs.). He also shared numerous entertaining anecdotes
Great day out, Dan our guide / driver was knowledgeable and funny made the whole experience all we hoped for. Lovely Island with lots of history and private businesses making great food and drink all passionate about what they do.
Dan was a great, very informative guide. The meeting spot was easy. Nice bus. It's not a grape vineyard tour. The tour doesn't include a restaurant. But, one orchard had snacks for purchase. I went a few years ago, and the best stops were not the same this time. Two of the stops felt redundant. (Two cider stops). It was nice to get out of the city, see the island and the beautiful turning leaves, and learn a lot about the area from Dan. I enjoyed that part.
4 stops…tiny tasting of nougat. Seemed more of a purchasing opportunity. Only food included. If you like hard ciders and sweet wines this would probably be a better tour for you. Long trip for four stops.
Great tour and we really enjoyed Ashley.
Peter was magnificent! He knew everything from soup to nuts! Very steeped in knowledge of Isle d’Orleans. He also gave me tips on what to visit next!
Peter was very knowledgeable. Left on time and he had a list of the travelers. He was aware of who hadn’t arrived and waited for everyone to board
Our drive was 10 minutes late, drive fast and in the middle of the road. He didn't wear his headset, he held against his mouth so everything he said was distorted. He did not tell us anything about quebec or the island. He gave us his life story. He did not have a favorable opinion about quebec city. Je complained about a previous customer who asked too many questions. The nouget and chocolate factory was a joke. They show a 5 minute video that you can't hear. Samples were advertised. We got 1 piece of nouget smaller than an American quarter. The people were very unwelcoming. Other than holding a tray, the only other interaction was telling us the total at the cash register. The orchards were nice and interesting. The BEST stop is vinaigrerie. He shared his knowledge and very generous with samples.
This tour surprisingly disappointing and I wish I spent time in this beautiful city touring Quebec City on my own! Keep looking for a better experience which included alot of bus time with very little satisfaction at the tasting sites. I will say the scenery was gorgeous (from the bus window) . Of note, don’t skip lunch!!
This was a nice, relaxing tour. It gave us a good overview of the island, and we stopped at two wineries, a vinegar maker, and a place that makes nougat candy.
Some tasting spots were excellent especially in the apple orchid. Expected to see more farms and trees but the tour is confined to the shops. The Guide did not speak clear english but number and sound system in the bus was not audible enough.
The areas we visited on the tour were amazing. The island is a place we are planning to return to for a longer stay. 2-3 days should do it. The only downfall was our bus driver/tour guide (Martin)whom talk a lot about nothing. More clear info would have been appreciated. He had a habit of holding the mic too close to his mouth, so what ever he was saying we could not understand.
We had a mid day tour and assumed because it was a food tour we would have plenty to eat but came back hungry around 2 pm. Everything was very small sample sizes. Prepare for this. Going to the Ile was nice.
This was a lot of fun, beautiful, educational, and the host driver was very helpful, a good sense of humor. It was definitely a ‘tasting.’ On this tour we tasted wine at 2 stops, vinegar at 1, and candy at 1. I arrived hungry and left starving. This was fun though I would not call it a ‘food’ tour.
It’s listed as a food and drink tour. There was no food on this tour tastings of vinegar, wines and nougat. Would not recommend
Dan the Man was an excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. We are not huge fans of cider wines and this confirmed it for us. The vinaigrette stop was excellent. There is not much in the way of food tasting. Over all a nice way to spend 3 1/2 hrs.
Bring food on this tour or you will go hungry! Nice to visit the island but tour was a waste of money. Four stops - nougat shop with an unimpressive video, 2 hard cider shops and vinegar tasting.
This is more about tasting alcohol and vinegars than it is about tasting any food. 1st stop: Ferme du Capitaine Noel et Vinaigrerie. They passed out specialty vinegars with a dropper on a tiny spoon. The product was excellent but I would have passed on this stop, it was too long. 2nd stop: Domaine Sainte-Famille - Winery / Cidery /beautiful apple orchard. We were given a flight of 4 different wines, 2 dry, 2 sweet. Delicious but it's a lot of alcohol on an empty stomach because by now it's lunchtime. Some people purchased a small cheese and cracker plate for 25$ or you can purchase an apple fritter, apples or some chips. 3rd stop: Cidrerie Verger Bilodeau, yes more alcohol samples. Delicious hard cider samples along with other products that they said you could try if you wanted to (ie mustard). 4th stop: La Nougaterie Québec, watch a video and sample a few teeny tiny pieces of nougat; honestly, they should drop this stop. I was starved at this point and just wanted the tour to end. I took this tour because I did not have a car and wanted to see the island. The island is lovely.
This is a good way to see this amazing island that is the countryside of Quebec many farms they’re growing for growing corn, strawberries, apples, etc. for stops mostly drinking and a little tasting. Great view of the falls on the way.
There were only four stops, two of them were very similar. They both offered wine and cider. More variety would have been better and they was no food or snacks provided.
Bring your own food because there is not much to taste. It was interesting to see what they have been making. There were 2 vinegar and wine tastings where 1 would have been plenty.
Very nice! Enjoyed stop at vinegar producer the best. Tour guide was great! Stop at Nougat chocolate place was lackluster, we watched a video?? Should be replaced with something else, did not fit in.
Cute way to see glimpses of the island and have a few small tastes. Everyone was lovely! Tour guide was entertaining.
The pick up place wasn’t clear so we walked around a bit before we found our guide. And the guide was inaudible. His speech was garbled and we told him. He blamed it on the AC. Everyone was complaining so we didn’t get a proper tour of the island. He also complained about the previous guest and cursed often.
Really great tour, I enjoyed all the places we stopped at truly a nice little and different experience we got to see a different part of Quebec. The driver commentary along the way was funny and interesting truly will recommend if you want to enjoy a couple of hours seeing the island and having some nice local products
Our tour guide Peter was a lovely old chap. Extremely knowledgeable, fun to talk to and very open to any questions that came to mind. The tour was very sweet and fun. Great selections for whine tasting with sprinkled history lessons mixed in.
