This was such an amazing experience with so much to do. Long was an amazing and kind tour guide and helped with everything needed. The views are impeccable at Montmorency falls and Quebec was a dream. I’m so happy with this company, they are great and sufficient. I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling into Montreal.
The site to pick up was easy. The tour guide and bus drivers were very good and friendly and explained how our trip would be. Thank you for translating in English. The tour guide at city was awesome. I enjoyed the trip and seeing the beautiful city. It was a lot of walking but I managed at my age. Viator you are a great company and have enjoyed trips from your company. Thanks again.
The bus ride and tour of the falls was great. The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. The Quebec City walking tour guide was pretty much worthless. We could not hear most of what she said. What we did hear was nonsense about her personal understanding of global warming and socialism.
Was disappointed by the organisation of this tour. The original meeting point was changed without prior notice so it took awhile to get everyone on board. By that time we were already running late so the visit to the Falls was rushed. The seat allocation on the bus was also completely ignored which added time onto the journey. The sights themselves are great but I'd advise to book a different tour.
Was a great day excursion from Montreal to Quebec City and our tour guide King was great. Plenty of great things to see and do.
Excellent tour guide and bus driver. The falls were beautiful, walking tour informative, and Quebec City friendly, clean & pretty.
Worth the long bus ride to visit Montmorency Falls and Quebec City. Loved the falls and beautiful area surrounding. And Quebec City was also a very unique and interesting place. Only wish the walking tour could have included some of the other important sights, the Citadel, Lady of Victory Church, Breaknext Steps, Place Royal and others. Just not enough time. I would suggest visitors bring a lunch or buy a sandwich and use your free time to explore. The included local guide tour was okay, but lots of spots were missed. You could even skip it and see more of this deserving UNESCO town.
All in all, this was a very nice and efficient trip that included beautiful sights, though you feel you’re part of a herd. The Good: - Montgomery Falls is beautiful and far exceeded our expectations. The falls are gorgeous and the surrounding park is beautiful. The 90-minute stay was perfect. - Quebec City is unique, beautiful, and historic. The 50-minute tour was OK. We’re happy to have passed on the cruise, thus didn’t feel rushed as we enjoyed a wonderful lunch and explored the town. The 5-hour stay was perfect. - Tour efficiency. Everything ran like clockwork; very good communication pre-tour and during the tour. The Meh: - The tour was at capacity – 50 people, thus making you feel like you’re being herded around. - The tour guide was trilingual (Chinese, French, and English) though not fully fluent in English. The guide didn’t really point out many sights or share any interesting stories, thus making this part of the tour non-memorable.
It was awesome, the waterfall was beautiful. The river cruise was worth it and Quebec City is unique and a must see. Also our tour guide was great
If you want to travel to Quebec from Montreal, this is a great way to do it. The added boat tour was a plus and our guide was very good. The driver was the nicest person ever and ensured our safety to and from. Would definitely recommend
Don’t do it, it’s not worth the money, it cost you money to get to there pick up point and on your return at night they drop you off at the same place and it’s impossible to find a raxi
We selected English as our preferred language for the tour. Although the tour guide seemed knowledgeable about the history and development of Quebec City, he was not a native English speaker, so we had a lot of trouble understanding what he was saying. In addition, we were assigned seats at the back of the bus, and discovered that both sides of the windows were blocked by large stickers that prevented us from looking out at areas being pointed by the guide. We feel that we didn't get the same experience that other people got, like those who were assigned unblocked windows, or those assigned a native English-speaking guide. We won't be booking through Tripadvisor in the future.
It's definitely worth doing this activity. It was well organized & except for the downpour of rain, it was a perfect day. 5*
The bus had an engine issue 30 Minutes into the trip. Fortunately the itinerary had a one hour food and bathroom stop scheduled halfway to Quebec City. So we used that while 3 smaller private shuttle buses were dispatched. Luckily we were still close to Montreal and this only put us 30 Minutes off schedule. It all worked out but was a bit of bad luck and maintenance on their part.
Both destinations were great. As far as guided tour is concerned, that is lacking. That was the whole point of booking through Viator.
This is basically a bus ride to Quebec. It is 13 hours, with actually 8 hours on the bus. A 1-1:2 hour stop at the falls, then a short (but excellent tour guide) 50 minute walking tour. The rest of the time was for lunch and seeing the city. There was really no time to do any of the items on the literary because of the time to arrange travel to them and the time it would take for those visits. We really ended up having time to just walk around old town. If you want to see more of the city and the items on the itinerary this is not a tour to take. Take this tour if you only have one day from Montreal and you just want a small taste of old Quebec.
It was ok, but not great. I would rather we skipped the falls and spent the whole day in Quebec City. The area has such rich history that more information could’ve been shared on our way to the sight. We felt rushed all day long.
Tour guide Joyce and bus driver are great! Joyce is so funny and skilled with English, French, and Chinese 🤩
A fabulous day! So much to see and learn. Every minute of the tour was great. The views at the falls were beautiful, the walking tour in Quebec City was fascinating and comprehensive, and the cruise was enjoyable. The transportation acccomodations were very comfortable.
A full day experience giving you good taste of Québec. The waterfalls are excellent and an added bonus. Having a stop in the morning for breakfast is an excellent idea. Didn't feel rushed and had plenty of time to explore both the waterfall and city. Yes a long day but good value.
Well organised. Clear instructions for times. Knowledgeable guides. The guided walking tour in Quebec City could have been longer. Given 1.5 or 2.0 hours instead of just one hour, it would not have seemed so rushed. Overall a good (though long and tiring) day out.
Great way to see Quebec City in just one day- such a beautiful city and fabulous food to try! Bus trip was long but reasonable- Joyce gave us all the information we needed but a full bus put us at the back (slightly car sick not helped by heavy cigarette smell from other passengers!)
Perfect day! Tour guide Daniel was very knowledgable and our driver was great. Everything was on time. There was enough time to explore on your own. It was a great day.
A very well organised day put that have us a chance too see parts of Quebec that took the stress out for us.
Perhaps there is a way to let people to decide to have .ore free time at either the falls or the city. Personally, I did not need all that free time to shop
Exceptional! The day was full of wonderful memories . The falls are so spectacular, and Quebec City is a must see.
I thought that it was a great pairing of the falls and Quebec City. I would of liked more guidance into what to explore in the city or a longer walking tour. It was a great time in a beautiful city.
Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The driver was friendly and safe. The falls were really pretty and the time there was appropriate. Quebec City was fun and picturesque, but I wish we'd had the walking tour first.
This was a great choice of trip on a limited schedule. It is a long day but we saw a lot and packed much into one day. The trip was well planned. In the morning, we stopped half way to Quebec for breakfast and bathroom breaks. We had plenty of time to enjoy the falls and the sights in Old Quebec.
Lovely day and really nice driver and guide! Very good schedule of the day and enough time to explore the city
Disappointed with this tour. Quebec is a fascinating city with a rich heritage and a story to tell. Trouble is, both guides were unable to present it competently. First there was Jerry. He was the coach guide out of Montreal, and spent a lot of time saying ‘yay’. It was amusing the first couple of times but then became deeply irritating, as did his so called jokes. He also translated everything he said at (breakneck speed) into French immediately. It turned into a bit of a babble and difficult to follow what he was saying. His other communication impediment was an inability to convey basic information. Like if you take the optional boat trip in Quebec, it only leaves you half an hour for lunch. He was confusing about meeting times - when he said 1.50 in English, it sounded like 1.15 . The upshot of this confusion was I nearly missed lunch. As a diabetic, up since 6 am, this was a bit critical. Fortunately, the cruise boat serves very acceptable hot & cold snacks, and the guide on board the boat was excellent -spoke clearly, didn’t gabble, and was full of information. He showed it is possible to deliver a professional bilingual tour without losing the audience. The walking tour of the Old Quarter was delivered by Annabel. She looked & sounded wierd, nose studs and all, with the occasional witches cackle thrown in for good measure. That would have been tolerable but again, she babbled away in both French & English, sometimes simultaneously, and I completely lost track of what she was saying. I think it was mostly historical, with the odd shriek as punctuation. Frankly, I got more out of Chat GPT & the signs scattered around the Old Quarter. Her tour was half an hour and I was glad when it finished. The trip to Quebec takes about 3 hours each way, a half hour comfort break on the way there, none on the way back. The trip is worthwhile & good basic value but it’s obviously pot luck what guide you get. If I did it again, I’d skip the walking tour and the boat (which cost extra) and see more of the Town.
This is a nice option to visit Quebec City and Montmorency Falls on a day trip from Montreal. Caroline, our tour host was wonderful — friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. All logistics were explained and executed perfectly. The timing of the various parts of the package was an appropriate mix of guided and free time. We enjoyed the stop at the falls and had time to enjoy the views from various points. Less successful was the guided walking tour of Old Quebec City lower town. Our tour lasted only about 40 minutes (far less than the expected one hour), and our independent tour guide for that portion (not Caroline) provided little information we could not have found on our own. It was the only disappointment in our otherwise fine day of touring.
Have to admit, was a little disappointed with this one. We spent nearly 3 hours in the coach just getting to the falls. The guidance along the way was in English and then repeated in French, as was our 50 minute walk around Quebec with guide Richard. The part of Quebec we were shown, although very pretty, seemed manufactured, almost Disney like and was full of tourist shops. If we hadn't driven through the rest of Quebec to see the falls I wouldnt have felt like we saw the real city. Also the driver ... mm . Personally I prefer one that keeps both hands on the wheel, doesn't straddle the central dotted line or accelerate fast then brake hard ....
I booked this trip by reading some good reviews but was extremely disappointed for few key reasons and I would recommend readers to be cautious before using this tour and look for other options. 1. The red coach bus we got was not from Concord and it did not had good working AC. We were sweating in bus with poor circulation. They had 2 buses that day one was brand new by concord and this one was 2nd one. 2. Guide was very busy selling tickets for cable car tickets in bus. Felt like I was in market. 3. Our package had one way cable car and we paid additional 10$+tax per person for return trip or other option was to walk back. This is where they make some extra money. We did not get official receipt for this payment. 4. They stopped at the worst restaurant you can imagine to stop and eat for breakfast. Why companies become too greedy for just few bucks. They should have added other option of 2 way cable car tickets During our wonderful trip to Montreal, this was only worst experience.
The host and the tour guide were very friendly and kept the tour interesting
Our guide Daniel was very good. The bus driver was very good and polite. The trip was well worth it. Great trip and view to the Falls and the downtown tour of Quebec was delightful. One major problem. The bus developed a terrible vibration problem on the way out and then all the way back. It was bus number 12 I mentioned this to our guide and he said there was nothing they could do about it until they got back. I even have videos of the vibration you couldn’t even drink from a bottle of water. They were so bad. They stated that they would let the company know and if they look into the problem, it was as if there was a huge wheel imbalance problem Interesting note my wife and I were in Montreal the next day and we saw the same bus and the same driver so obviously they didn’t take it in for repairs and also interestingly enough my wife spotted in one of the right rear tires. A huge metal rivet is stuck out about an inch and a half and I’m sure this is what would’ve been causing all that vibration through the tire and it was not taken care of.
Considering it was a large tour,it was well organized. Danny ( our guide), was knowledgeable and patient. I was not aware of seat assignments on the bus and was not given one when entering the bus. This created confusion ( because I sat in someone else's seat. My recommendation is to provide a seat assignment when reserving the tour.
This was a great way for our family to get to Quebec City while we were spending a week in Montreal. Helpful history and background info was shared on the way.The stop at Montmorency Falls was wonderful. The walking tour of Old Quebec City was a bit of a letdown. But there was a good amount of time to explore on your own. We choose not to do the optional river cruise for an additional $50. Our time in the city would have felt rushed if we had included that.
Montmorency Falls and old town Quebec city are must-sees for anyone traveling to Quebec. The bus transportation was good, the guide a little hard to understand and it wasn't just me as we almost lost some of the group that did not understand the instructions. A total of 5 hours on the bus round-trip.
Overall, I enjoy so much! You see everything in Quebec City and you have enough time to explore yourself
The old Quebec is a really amazing place to visit, the falls are nice but I would rather spend more time in Quebec
William was an exceptional guide—very informative, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout the trip. Everything was very well organized, and the itinerary was thoughtfully planned with enough free time to explore and enjoy at our own pace. Overall, it was a wonderful and well-balanced experience. Highly recommended!
It was a fun daylong excursion from Montréal to Québec City that included Montmorency Falls and a boat ride in Québec City on the Saint Lawrence.
The magic of water fall the weather and the guides were just amazing. Thanks for all. I will recommend it to anyone
Yu was our guide and he was great. The falls were amazing. Walking tour with local in Quebec City was meh, too fast and not much substance. Too much free time in Quebec City overall. Could have cut it short of let people do the boat tour. Would do it again.
I am a solo female traveler in my thirties who was visiting Montreal and wanted to try and squeeze in a day trip to Quebec City. This tour seemed easier and more convenient than having to take the train. The day got off easily enough and felt organized. Joyce, the group leader, texted me the night before, and it was easy to find the meetup spot near Chinatown. Joyce was very sweet and funny. She didn’t really talk much beyond explaining the rules at the beginning of the trip and then a bit more before we made it into the city. I would have liked to hear her give a bit more information about the history of Quebec City. (She was also responsive to my texts when I had a question during our free time.) The driver was great, and the 3 hours there (with a stop at McDonald’s along the way) went by fast enough. The Montreal walking tour was nice but a bit brisk. Maurice was a great guide and extremely knowledgeable. I just wish we could have gotten some recommendations about what to do in Quebec City because I felt a little lost when we were given our free time after the tour. Prior to the trip, I was worried I wasn’t going to have enough time to do everything I wanted to do in Quebec City. However, I quickly realized that there isn’t much to do there beyond visiting touristy shops and having a sit-down lunch. If you want to do either of those things, then you will love it. (The city is very touristy, and I would advise anyone not to go on the weekend because it was very crowded on a Saturday.) I didn’t want to do the optional cruise because the price was pretty steep ($48 CAD, $35 US), but I did it anyway because I ran out of things to do and wanted to hear more history about the city. The captain was very friendly and gave a lot of good information about Canada, but the cruise itself was just ok. There’s not much to see along the river, although seeing the falls from afar was nice. If you want to just relax and drink, then you’d probably enjoy this cruise. Once our time was up, we met back at the bus and went over to Montmorency Falls. I wish the stop there had been longer with less time in Quebec City. We only had an hour, and while I was able to walk up all 487 steps and back (phew!) and still get in a bathroom break before we left, I would have loved to take the zip line or even get in the water if allowed. (These falls are taller than Niagara and more impressive to me because you can get up really close.) The ride back went by fast enough, but it is a bit of a bladder buster because there are no stops until you arrive back at the pickup spot. I would recommend this tour, but I think it depends on what you want from the trip. If you don’t take the boat cruise, you will have plenty of time to see Quebec City, have a nice meal, and shop. I think in the future it would be great if the busses could be divided into English-speaking and French-speaking just because so much time is wasted repeating the same information in both languages.
An enjoyable day however it was reiterated to us no break on the way back or only use toilet on bus in an emergency!! A three hour bus trip back luckily no road delays. We were told use a toilet before boarding. I’ve never been on a vistour trip and had still issues. In this day and age people need comfort breaks or include it in the return it’s disgusting to let people have accidents as too embarrassed to walk the line of shame to use the EMERGENCY toilet v disappointed.
106 An excellent experience regarding the service and punctuality; the guide was very courteous and patient in their explanations.
Outstanding! Highlight of my trip! Everything was smooth as stated.
