Informative and fun - the guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. Experienced a lot of the city within a short period of time.
Informative and delightful guide who knows the history of Quebec City well. If doing this tour in the winter as we did, make sure your feet are warm as this is 100% an outdoor tour where you’re standing on snow and ice quite a bit. It was a great way to get a feel for where things are to start our stay there.
Guide was great. Tour covered lots of ground and helped us know where we wanted to spend the rest of our time in Quebec City.
the guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. the tour felt christmasy because of the decorations and it happened to be snowing but only less than ½ of the tour was about Christmas traditions--the rest was about the history of Quebec--still interesting. the pace could have been faster because the day was very cold.
That it is not about Christmas or Christmas decorations! The tour guide was excellent and gave a well informed tour but I thought it would be about seeing Christmas related things.
A delightful tour! So informative and engaging. Great guide. Well paced. A must for first timers and frequent visitors like us.
A fabulous guide (Christian) lead us around Old Quebec with a sense of humour & an obvious love of the history of the city. He easily slipped in & out of his character ( a farmer from the 1600’s) as he shared his knowledge. He made each member of the group feel special as he remembered where we were from & made references during the tour. Loved it!
Excellent tour guide, made the tour very interesting. Excellent overall history of old Quebec! Loved the hot chocolate especially on such a cold day!
Local guide was informative and entertaining; we were able to learn about the history of OQC and Christmas along the way.
Our Tour Guide was very knowledgeable. He made it a very interesting tour of Old Quebec City. The city was decorated beautifully for Christmas.
Incredibly informative tour! Learned so much about the history of Quebec. Guide was also entertaining. And the hot chocolate delicious!
We really enjoyed our tour and the mixture of history and christmas lore. Our guide was great - very personable and knowledgeable.
Tour had some good information but not as much overall Canadian history as would have been nice. Some parts of the tour felt boring and unnecessary when we walked to an old building (now apartments) to talk about a nun that was not that significant. The kids were easily bored and half our group faded out before the tour was over. We did not tour the markets or have a treat from the market as advertised, just some hot chocolate from a stand near a hotel. It just overall was not that engaging.
Great tour guide! Very entertaining. Great history about Old Quebec & Christmas traditions that started here! I would highly recommend. The city is decorated beautifully for the holidays.
Love the history of the town and the stories about the people. Very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this tour.
This was an excellent tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He brought us around and explained the significance and history of old Quebec.
The guide never mentioned Christmas, never. He was fine with the history . I had already had a lengthy tour which discussed the history in detail. Very disappointed.
Terrible, where to begin? First off the Christmas Markets were closed, something they should have informed us of when booking. Instead of Christmas Markets we got a boring history tour. Further I was supposed to receive a hot chocolate as advertised in the description but did not. My bf tried to take my cup because I was outside taking pictures but the tour guide said no and took it away which was rude and embarrassing. Will never book or recommend this tour company..
The Guide was terrific. Very knowledgeable and funny. I believe we visited all the key sights. The pace of the tour was perfect.
The tour included a lot of great history of Quebec City and historical facts on Christmas traditions. Chantelle was wonderful! We enjoyed a hit chocolate to warm us up.
Israel our guide was fabulous. He worked history, personal experience, and Christmas traditions into our tour. Highly recommend.
An enjoyable informative walk around Old Towne. Our guide Marc Bergeron was engaging and delightful. We had a perfect winter day. Would recommend this tour.
The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a good time and learned a lot. Lots of walking.
Great tour! Informative and fun. My rating is because I found the history of the First Nations populations problematic. I recommend presenting the boarding school history in a less rose-colored light and consulting local indigenous populations to see what they might want people to know about the history if their land and people. Otherwise, great!
This tour was really fun and informative, but for future customers please know that there is a lot of standing in one spot while the guide gives information. So if it is a cold day, dress very very warmly! We were freezing despite our layers, but glad we stuck it out.
Our guide Sardinia was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, funny, and gave a detailed tour. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone visiting the town
Fabulous tour. The guide was amazing. Very funny and lots of knowledge. It was a great experience and took lots of great photos
Our guide was in character as Lord Dufferin. He was so informative about the history of Quebec. He had details that made the city come alive for us. Highly recommend.
Again I was late…coming from Lévis and had to find my group. I did find them and had a lovely time. Didn’t seem to be about Christmas…just churches and founders. We didn’t go in any of them…sad, as I love the architectures of them. Will have to go back and see them myself. The boardwalk was interesting. Our guide was very informative and you can tell he loves Quebec.
Great experience and nice rediscovery of Old Quebec with the magical Christmas spirit! Very nice guide, nice anecdotes and stories and a nice hot chocolate.
Fun tour of Quebec City, mixing history with Christmas storytelling. The guide was very knowledgeable of the city, and dressed the part. Highly recommended!
The Christmas Magic tour of Old Quebec was more than we imagined. We learned so much about the history of Christmas, and how traditions developed. We learned how the French and English celebrated Christmas differently. Chantal was a wonderful guide! You will have to climb hills and down stairs.
The best part of the tour was the guide who was portraying a character from hundreds of years ago. Walking around in beautifully decorated old town Quebec was an additional bonus. There was a lot of talk about religion and less about the history of old town Quebec. We had a hot chocolate break half way through the two hour tour. You will walk from upper town to lower town so dress warm and comfortable.
Wonderful tour guide! So much history about Quebec City. Guide was so informative and entertaining . Highly recommend
Charles was wonderful. Told us stories of Christmas in Quebec. This was a great tour to get an overview of the city and points that we re-visited.
Informative and fun, especially during the holiday season! tour guide was very good and we got to Lear’s places to explore
We loved that our tour guide was in period costume. He was very knowledgeable about everything! The tour was well organized, our guide added a lot of humour to our history lesson.
Our guide was superb! Had an expert knowledge of local and world history. Not to forget Christmas info and related local places. Highly recommend!
Our guide was able to tell a tale of the past and make it relevant to the present At the same time she gave us all about places and things to make the most of our remaining time in Quebec.
We did learn some interesting facts about traditions of Christmas but for the price (almost $40 per person!) It was definitely not good value for our money. Most importantly, they glossed over and modified anything to do with indigenous history. At one point we were shown a school for girls (St. Ursula). Outside the school was a statue of a nun with two children. The one kneeling before the nun was clearly indigenous. The guide talked about how the "natives" had to be "convinced" to attend the school in hopes of "persuading" others to join. The guide made it sound like it was a wonderful experience, alluding to girls waking up on Christmas morning to songs that sounded like angels singing. When I questioned whether the children ever went back to their families he assured me that they did so, at the end of each Summer. When I suggested that some of the indigenous families were nomadic and perhaps couldn't be contacted, he told us that they lived in villages near the city. My husband and I were dumbstruck by this rewriting of history. Because it was a Christmas tour and all the other people were tourists from the USA, we didn't persue further explanation. At a time where Canada is trying to be accountable for its part in indigenous history this tour minimized it and glossed over an opportunity to elaborate on an important issue. I understand that it was a Christmas tour but perhaps don't talk about indigenous people at all then. In terms of authenticity this was the worst guided walking tour I have ever been on! I do not recommend it.
Tour guide was great. Very informative and very easy to understand her English was immaculate. I enjoyed the tour
Wonderful tour and guide! Very knowledgeable about Quebec's history and wove in great anecdotes about Christmas traditions in Quebec throughout it's history.
Ending at a perfect stop to enjoy some Christmas shopping! Your guide was charming and knowledgeable!
Jean-Claude Mathieu, our guide, was amazing and informative. He was a treasure and we highly recommend him as a guide. He kept us entertained with his in depth knowledge of Quebec's Christmas heritage. The hot chocolate was a welcomed bonus.
A very nice tour of the city with everything Christmas themed. Our guide was incredibly resourceful, engaging, and entertaining. Highly recommend!
Our guide was animated and did a great job keeping us entertained with his storytelling ability as he taught us about Quebec city's history. We really enjoyed the hot chocolate (it was a cold day) and the traditional treats he shared with us.
Amazing! Nice start to our trip and our guide was great. Really enjoyed and a nice history lesson as well
We enjoyed the walking tour of Old Quebec City. Our guide was very informative and entertaining, covering the history of Quebec as well as pointing out what makes Christmas special in Quebec. The walking tour was at an easy pace ensuring we had plenty of time to admire Old Quebec City and the beauty of the streets all decked out with their Christmas decorations. Picture Postcard stuff!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely wear warm clothes and shoes when visiting in winter!
