W Montreal

Great location if you are visiting! Close walk to everything. Also thank you so much to the staff for making my wife and I’s visit very special. They remembered my email exchange referring to my wife and I celebrating a baby on the way and went out of their way to say congrats as well as gave us a gift of macaroons and mocktails with our room service! So where to begin… we arrived at the hotel at 4 p.m., but our room was not ready until nearly 6 p.m. We chose to eat at the restaurant, yet it was closed, so we sat at the bar. The bartender seemed confused and required 10–15 minutes to take our order. We ordered fries meant to include truffle mayo, but the mayo was missing. Once we received our keys, we found the “upgrade” was a two-floor room; it sounds appealing, but the layout was quite vertical. The narrow stairs made carrying bags upstairs difficult, so we left them below and kept moving up and down. The room had a nice balcony, but the door handle did not function properly. Because I am an Ambassador Elite at Marriott (the highest tier), I received “free” breakfast. We sat down to a menu that was the poorest I have seen; the coffee was diluted, and when I ordered an omelet with cheese and mushrooms, I was told there was a $4 supplement, so I went out for a decent meal instead. The overall experience was quite poor. This hotel is meant to be in Marriott’s highest tier. It is not there.

A friend and I stayed at the W Montreal on a girl’s getaway for 3 nights. The location was perfect, right across from the subway and a short walk to Old Montreal. The entire staff was hospitable, friendly and made us feel special every time we came and went, with their greetings and wanting to know how our day was. Our room was lovely and everything was up to par. Our concierges Zack, Penelope and Hilary(?) were knowledgeable and so helpful, as were the folks at the front desk (Darrin, Yasmin and…) and the bellmen (Andres +). I wish I could recall everyone's names, but the entire team was stellar. We really enjoyed the Vinyl bar- great drinks, food and music, and our bartenders and servers at both Vinyl and Tsp were great. We highly recommend the W Montreal and look forward to returning.

I was in charge of the planning of a guys trip to Montreal, and booking the W was the first item I checked off my list. I had no idea that it would be the best decision I made regarding the whole trip. Everything about our experience was superb, above and beyond our expectations. Every single team member I interacted was kind, helpful, and seemed to genuinely care about my experience, long before I ever stepped foot in Montreal. Yasmin, one of the front desk experts, was constantly in contact making sure we booked the exact room situation we required and providing guidance as well as making sure we got the best price possible. She was also there during our stay, giving recommendations and constantly checking in to make sure everything was in order. She was the one who we interacted with the most, but every member of the reception area was incredible. One of the biggest shining moments of the trip was our W Insider, Mauricio. Talk about above and beyond! He was our personal contact point, giving us his phone number where any request or question was answered immediately. He was a direct overseer of our itinerary, ensuring I'd left nothing out, or left any reservation un-made. He could seemingly make any wish come true, like some sort of Montreal genie. He made the small details matter which elevated everything substantially. Can't wait to return to Montreal, and I wouldn't think twice about booking the W again!
