My partner and I were here celebrating 11 years together and had a wonderful experience. The food was incredible, delicious and very nicely presented. We were being served by Jean this evening and his knowledge of the food and wine pairings as well as his genuine interest in our having a great celebration definitely elevated our entire experience. Thank you!

My husband and I came here to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary expecting a relaxing getaway. After spending over $400 for the cheapest room available for one night, we couldn’t be more disappointed. When we arrived in our room, there were dead bugs all over the floor / windowsill. We requested to switch rooms however the hotel was fully booked. They sent someone to re-clean the room while we went to one of their restaurants, VIN Bar Heron. Dinner was just as disappointing as the quality of the room. The food was mediocre at best and overpriced for what were tiny portions. Our server was short with us and acted as though our presence was an inconvenience. When booking the reservation, we were asked if we there was an occasion and we noted it was our anniversary but it got completely ignored. When we returned to our room after dinner, there were two live ladybugs on the bathroom ceiling. The overall quality of the room was unbelievably low for the price. The property is old and run down, the bed was uncomfortable and the sheets were so rough and cheap. We would have been more comfortable at home. When we checked out, we received $100 back onto the gift card we used to pay for our stay. Given the unacceptable condition of the room and the poor service we received, we have zero desire to ever return. This hotel is extremely overrated and overpriced. Save your money and go elsewhere.
For years, my husband and I have talked about going to the Moulin Wakefield Mill. We’ve only seen photos and reviews online about the establishment, but when we arrived, it exceeded any expectations we had developed. The scenery is picture perfect next to Gatineau Park, for a romantic get-a-way. The establishment consists of quaint hotel guestrooms, fine dining, a full-service wellness spa (Holtz Spa), outdoor saunas and a hot tub, and an area for an intimate meeting, retreat or reception. The Mill also displays – throughtout its establishment – local artisans with exquisite pieces available for purchase should you choose. The package my husband chose included our 1-night stay, a couple’s massage and breakfast. The massage day and time was prebooked at time of room booking and it was explained to arrive early in order for us to use their hot tub and sauna area outside. Upon arrival, we checked in and our room was ready for us. One cool small detail was that my husband received a text when we were on route stating that our room was ready for our arrival. We brought our belongings upstairs to our room, got situated and then quickly changed into our swimsuits to enjoy the hot tub and outdoor sauna. Their outdoor hot tub and sauna area overlooks a gorgeous river and waterfall – part of le Peche river. Our time outside enjoying it was wonderful with the sounds of the rippling water and snow softly falling. Simply beautiful. Our massages at Holtz Spa were scheduled for 2:00 pm and once inside their spa, we were greeted warmly by their terrific team. Our couples massage was delightful. I highly recommend booking a massage while staying here. Their spa facilities and team are top notch and a variety of different options are available. Within the Mill, there are two restaurant options – La Muse (offering a 5-course discovery experience or a 3-course table d’hote as well as their morning breakfast) and Heron Wine Bar (offering a Bistro menu for lunch, dinner or a snack). Both locations exhibit local artisan work as well as throughout the Mill establishment. Wondering around inside gazing at the amazing local artist’s work we stumbled upon the Heron Wine Bar. Inside you will find a large double sided fireplace, more local artisan pieces, board games, a pool table and live music. We chose, that night to walk down the road to Le Hibou for dinner, but we have since returned for more visits and eaten in La Muse. Outstanding! For the included breakfast, we ate at La Muse. We were seated within large atrium style windows overlooking the waterfall and river displaying the soft white snow while it fell. Breakfast was delightful with many options to choose from. Overall, I would highly recommend Moulin Wakefield Mill Hotel. Whether it would be for a weekend get-a way, a romantic night away, or a day trip to their spa, you will be treated like royalty. Slip away into a secluded old-world charm and return home refreshed, renewed and rejuvenated. We will be definitely returning again.
My wife and I stayed at the Wakefield Mill Hotel & Spa over the long weekend and had a great experience. The property is beautiful, with incredible landscaping and the falls creating such a peaceful setting. It’s hard to believe you can escape the city, be surrounded by nature, and feel like you’re truly away, all within less than an hour’s drive. What made the experience even better were the two restaurants on site. We had both breakfast and dinner during our stay and were not disappointed. The food was excellent and really added to the overall experience. If you’re looking for a mini vacation or just a relaxing weekend away without having to travel far, the Wakefield Mill is definitely worth considering. Beautiful surroundings, great food, and a wonderful place to unwind. We’ll certainly be back!
We went for supper and chose to sit on the lounge side, and it made our evening unforgettable. Anouk and her guitarist Willy were performing, and their talent created an atmosphere that completely enveloped the room. They were amazing and added so much to the experience. The décor and the service were both incredible. The whole setting feels magical. After dinner, we walked outside by the Mill, and the view was breathtaking — the rapids, the beautifully maintained walkway, and the surrounding nature created a naturally romantic and peaceful ambiance. It truly felt special. The food is excellent and absolutely worth it for the overall experience. Between the music, the scenery, the service, and the meal, everything came together perfectly. It’s definitely worth the detour, and we will definitely be returning.
