Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello

This hotel is a classic. There are tons of activities to keep you busy, no matter how old you are. I travelled with my partner, a senior, and two kids. Everyone had something to enjoy. However, service needs to improve, particularly with relation to cleanliness in common spaces and making sure the rooms are stocked. The hotel buffet breakfast is a win!

Fairmont Montebello – Lunch at Le Riverain Terrasse We visited the Fairmont Montebello for lunch at the Riverain Terrasse. The landscaping is beautiful, although there is unfortunately very little view of the water. The hotel was extremely understaffed for a long holiday weekend, and we even had to sit at a dirty table while waiting for a clean one. Our server was pleasant, smiling, and very attentive, which we appreciated. However, my $17 glass of 5 oz wine was served in a plastic glass. We understood the explanation that plastic is required when dining outdoors, but the quality of the glass was disappointing and simply not acceptable at this price point. Overall, the setting is lovely, but at these prices, we expected a much higher level of service and presentation. The Fairmont can—and should—do better.

We finally made it to Le Château Montebello a few days ago and it did not disappoint, that massive log lobby with the fireplace is even more impressive in person than in photos. We took our coffee out to the terrace overlooking the Ottawa River around sunrise and just sat there for an hour, best part of the whole trip. The staff at the front desk went out of their way to suggest a quiet walking trail for us since we're not as fast on our feet as we used to be. Parking was easy and free, which we always appreciate, and honestly at our age that counts for a lot.

We loved it here. It has such charm, I felt like a princess here. We had a king size bed, it was very comfortable and luxurious. The bathrooms are small, but very beautiful and bright. The shower was perfect and the soap and hair product supplied were very nice. The hotel itself was just devine. I loved everything about it. I personally love how dark it it. It feels warm and cozy. There are so many area to discover. You can definitely find an area to sit back and relax. The 2 pools are devine. The indoor pool is simply magnificent with such elegance and charm. The room service was just lovely, I especially enjoyed the caesar salade so much I ordered it on the second day again. All the staff was exceptional !!!! I definitely recommend this place. Beautifully located by the river with exceptional grounds and gardens. We loved our stay.
