I cannot say enough good things about this trip. Our guide Willy was awesome. We really appreciated the fact that he spoke English to us and didn’t just talk in Spanish.
The trip to and from Santo Domingo took way too long. The actual time in Santo Domingo was good. However, I was expecting an English speaking tour but it ended up being mostly in Spanish. I had to remind the tour guide to share what he said in Spanish in English. Overall, it was an okay experience.
Willy was very organized and knowledgeable. The tour itself was very good as we got to see many key locations in Santo Domingo. Thanks Willy!
Be prepared for a long day with pick ups from 6am and drop off 6/7pm. Prompt collection from hotel in smaller van with a transfer to coach a little later. Guide was personable and knowledgeable throughout the trip. First stop was the fort, then 4D cinema history film followed by the cathedral. Lunch was buffet at an italian (same it wasn’t Dominican food) followed by a gift shop. Back on coach then a stop on way back to an organic chocolate factory. Good was generally good however we booked an English tour and got a Spanish/English mixed tour. I understand for economics the reason it was mixed however, 75% were Spanish speaking and therefore the tour was 75% i spanish and fairly boring at time listening to 5mins of Spanish with 20secs of English to cover the basic information.
I thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. It was informative and Willy was the best tour guide. The food was good and it A lot of walking so make sure you stay hydrated. People will try to sell things to you but just say “No Thank You”. My only negative is that the drop off process took forever. When they picked us up, it was only my hotel and 2 other hotels which were in the vicinity. Going home we dropped off multiple families and DIFFERENT hotels so we got home an hour later than the excursion. It is a 3 hour drive there and back so after a long day when you just want to get to your hotel and shower, you definitely have to exercise patience.
Long long day but we saw a lot of cool stuff. Cenotes, museums cathedrals..... Santo Domingo is a beautiful town.
Had a great time with Xcape Tours. Pick up and transfers were easy. Our guide Willy and our driver were so lovely and attentive throughout
Awesome experience! The price is very reasonable, and the trip was long enough to get a good experience of Santo Domingo. Staff was also very friendly and helpful. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommended.
Very interesting and informative. The tour guide can speak both English and Spanish, and is very knowledgeable and professional.
They led a great tour of Santo Domingo. Willy, our tour guide, was full of energy and made a long day worth the trip. Would highly recommend.
Resort was good place but I don’t think we will be back .
Juan Pablo was great very knowledgeable about the history of DR. Had a great time with him and all of his jokes.
It’s mainly a walking tour and a very long and full day. If you are a short vacation, recommend skipping this tour.
Highly recommend! The communication was key-very responsive and on point. The driver was nice, safe and patient. Our guide was very informative and considerate of our needs. I would suggest the private guided tour-it was on our time and a great spacious air conditioned vehicle.
The tour was amazing and the our guide Willie was great!! He was fun, knowledgeable and overall made the trip a great experience.
Our trip to Santo Domingo was an absolutely exhilarating experience! We booked a small-group tour with Xcape Tours, and from start to finish, everything was superb. Our driver, Miguel, was pleasant, patient, and accommodating to everyone in the group. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by José, whose knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm made the experience even more memorable. He is truly an excellent tour guide! We had the opportunity to visit some incredible places throughout Santo Domingo, and each stop gave us greater insight into the rich history, culture, and heritage of the Dominican Republic. José did an amazing job bringing the history to life with his knowledge and storytelling, making each location even more meaningful. And the food was absolutely delicious! We had the opportunity to enjoy true Dominican cuisine, and every dish was full of authentic flavors that gave us an even deeper appreciation for the Dominican culture. Our experience with Xcape Tours was exceptional, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment—from the beautiful sights and fascinating history to the amazing food and wonderful hospitality. Miguel and José truly helped make our trip special. We highly recommend Xcape Tours to anyone looking for an authentic, informative, and unforgettable Dominican experience. We can’t wait to book another adventure with them!
Booked the private tour option. Jose was super friendly and knowledgeable, an amazing guide overall. Lots of sightseeing and also opportunities to buy souvenirs. Highly recommend!

Nice tour, the tour guide was nice and attentive. The group we had was nice. Your guide took time to answer questions and had a positive attitude.
Our driver Victor was punctual and a very good driver. Our guide Hector was an incredible guide and so knowledgeable. We booked a private tour and we were picked up at the lobby. The drive to Santo Domingo was a bit over two hours. Van was air conditioned and comfortable. We stopped about halfway there for a restroom and snack break. The park was beautiful but there are a lot of steps down and then back up from the limestone caves. It is also very humid so be prepared. Our guide gave us a tour of some other stuff you don’t normally get along with what is advertised. The lunch was so good and everyone at the restaurant was so nice! All the history was incredible and lots of photo ops. Be ready in case it rains as it poured for about an hour when we were there. On a side note that has nothing to do with the tour. Our driver made a stop at a gift shop close to our resort. It was supposed to a spot where you can get souvenirs. Everyone in the store was nice but a bit pushy when it comes to buying stuff. None of the items have prices on them. When we went to pay, the total was going to be $600 USD for a handful of souvenirs. Never in my life or in any other country have I paid so much for souvenirs. We just left everything and left. Just an FYI.
Had a really lovely trip, with José as my guide. He was really informative and made sure everyone was looked after. The highlight was definitely Parque Nacional Los Tres Ojos!
José was very nice, very responsible, was very patient and explained the history of Santa Domingo very well. I can only suggest this tour, especially with José.
Everything was very well done. Our driver Franklin and guide, Jose we very friendly, helpful and informative. There were six of us on the tour and had a great time.
I enjoyed this tour and the tour guide Pablo, was very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, one of the museums was closed on the day that I went but it was wonderful to learn about the history of Santo Domingo!
It was a really nice experience. Pablo was awesome and it was nice that we were in a small group. We meet some very nice people some from our home town Chicago and New York as well as PA and Italy! We left on time and arrived back at the hotel as expected. There were no surprise unfortunate events! Thank you Xcape. Also our driver was great!
Fantastic excursion, brilliant guide, and great local vibes! We had a fantastic day trip from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo! There was a slight mix-up/delay with our pickup morning of the tour, but the team handled it professionally and even treated us to a complimentary Dominican beer tasting to make up for it—which was a really nice, appreciated touch! The driver and tour guide were absolutely amazing throughout the entire day. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and kept us informed with fascinating history and details at every stop, and our driver made the long ride comfortable and smooth. No negative issues at all—everything ran seamlessly once we got going. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the rich history and culture of Santo Domingo!
This was a great trip!! Wily was a wonderful tour guide and communication for the trip was also really good. I would recommend - also make sure to bring cash for water and a small fan because it is really hot!!
Juan was very knowledgeable and was flexible with what we all wanted to do. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide.
1st off I sm picky. :) The owner/operator was amazing. His communication was excellent. We asked for an english speaking tour guide and he delivered! The tour was worth it. We will be booking other tours with them.
There were more people in the van than regular seats, so my wife had to ride in the side seat which is not a regular seat and was very uncomfortable. I mentioned it to the driver but there was nothing they could do. So that is disappointing given the cost of the tour.
The guide was very good. His English was good enough for us to understand the information & he brought alot of enthusiasm to the experience. I was really impressed with how much the tour communicated with me prior to pick up. They explained how pick up would work, that our driver did not speak English, and also provided a phone number if we had any problems. This was very reassuring. The tour itself was great - we covered alot of places in Santo Domingo. I got a good understanding of the city, the people, and the history. Some of my favorite experiences from the tour were the Cathedral, the museum about the Taino people, and walking around the city itself. The lunch was very good & felt like a true Dominican meal. It would have been nice to have the option to buy a beer or wine at lunch. It wasn't offered to us so I am not sure if it was an option. We had the private tour so our guide told us at each stop whether it was a quick stop or not. I think there was a miscommunication in our last stop because we thought it was a quick stop but we ended up walking around the city for 1 or 2 hours. Had we known we were going to do that, we would have grabbed our hats and water from the car. All in all, a great experience & highly recommended if you want to learn more about Santo Domingo and the history of the country.
Good experience. Learned a lot about the culture
We chose the private tour because of the very hot weather, hoping it would give us the flexibility to decide what we wanted to see, how long we spent at each location, and the option to finish the tour whenever we wanted. That's exactly what we got, and it made the experience much more enjoyable. The drive to Santo Domingo took around three hours. Thankfully, the van was clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned, which made the journey very pleasant. Our tour guide met us at the first stop and was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer any questions throughout the day. Although we enjoyed the tour, the heat was simply too much for us to continue walking around, so we decided to finish at around 2:00 pm. Having the flexibility to do that was a real advantage of the private tour. Lunch was excellent, with delicious local food that we really enjoyed. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this tour company, especially if you're looking for a flexible, well-organised private tour.
Great day spent in Sto. Domingo!
José our tour guide was well knowledge and great at being our tour guide.
This tour was a great experience. Lots of rich history, just know what to expect. You will spend time picking others up from hotels and may need to change vehicles. The bus we had was very comfortable with air conditioning and TV. Our guide was great, he paced us, gave us free time to explore. Some things did get repetitive because he has to say it in multiple languages. Be prepared to walk a bit in the historical center. Lunch buffet was good and the restaurant was beautiful. We did it on a Sunday to avoid city traffic - everything ran smoothly.
The experience.in Santo Domingo was very informative. We learnt alot and seen alot. If you need to know more about the culture of the city a definite MUST do. Make sure you in comfortable walking shoe and light clothing as it get pretty humid with all the walking.
The tour/tour guide was good. The only bad thing.was they didn’t pick us up in front of the hotel. We had to walk to outside the resort compound.
Amazing experience, great service, thank you!!
We really enjoyed the tour, and our guides, Willie and our driver, were very kind and friendly. We also loved the souvenir stop, it made it easy to buy gifts to take home. In addition to the tour, we really enjoyed the food as well. Overall, it was a 10/10 experience!
I had a great time on this trip. The communication from the tour company was very clear and organized, and our driver came early. Out tour guide José was also great and I learned so much from him. He was attentive to everyone's needs throughout the day. We also packed many interesting stops and made it back on time which was excellent!
Jose and Jean were both great with us with providing information and care for our safety. The itinerary was perfect for us with the right balance of what SD has to offer the food was absolutely delicious as well. Thanks for making this experience possible and memorable.
We had a great experience on this Santo Domingo city tour! Everything was very well organized from start to finish. The itinerary ran on time, transportation arrived as scheduled, and the vehicle was clean and comfortable throughout the day. Our tour guide was incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional. He shared a lot of interesting historical facts and local insights that made the experience much more meaningful and enjoyable. Overall, this tour exceeded our expectations. If you’re visiting the Dominican Republic and want to explore Santo Domingo without worrying about the logistics, I would definitely recommend it. It’s absolutely worth it!
Absolutely a tremendous educational experience. Our tour guide Victor was excellent and very knowledgeable. Victor's personality was engaging and kept things lively. The food was excellent, the town square, the lakes/caves, and seeing the Dominican culture up close was awesome. We were able to visit a jewelry factory and vendors if we wanted to purchase souvenirs. It felt as if there was pressure to purchase. As for our host, this excursion was 5 star, but the pressure to purchase took away from the experience. We purchased a ring (larimer stone), and before purchase we were told the total cost was $175.00, taxes included and the upcharge for tourism. The total cost ended up being $189.00. Mark
A lot of walking lol but our group really enjoyed it. The tour guide was amazing and so was the driver.
Great day in Santo Domingo, Jose has been an amazing guide, he’s fun and his enthusiasm and expertise are amazing!
Amazing experience. I would definitely book again
We had a great day visiting Santo Domingo. I was expecting the drive to be unbearable from Punta Cana but it was a smooth ride with a pit stop in between for a bathroom break. Our driver, Anfry was prompt and drove safely. I had been told it would take about 3 hours to get there but it took just over 2 for us. Jose, our tour guide was great at teaching us Dominican History lesson and talking about Dominican culture. There are plenty of things to see and learn about, but keep in mind you’re in the sun walking around. Please make sure to go prepared with appropriate shoes, sunscreen and water. We did the cenotes, the Christopher Columbus lighthouse, and the presidential palace before heading to a buffet lunch. The portions were huge and it was really tasty. After lunch we had a lot more walking with sights like cathedrals and plazas and quick stops at the chocolate shop and gift shop. I had seen reviews that people were mad because they felt like the tour only consisted of gift shops but our stops were 5 minutes each and such an insignificant part of our day. You do get to see and learn a lot on this trip and I highly recommend a visit.
Our experience was really good. The tour was executed excellent. We really felt the culture of Santo Domingo.
