We booked a downtown tour of Punta Cana through Viator. The price was considerably more competitive than booking through the hotel. Alberto collected us directly from our hotel. He arrived promptly at 9.50am ahead of 10.00am pick up time and also communicated with us hours before , via text , confirming all the details. Alberto gave us a warm and friendly welcome, and we were fortunate to be the only guests on the tour that day. Alberto guided us around the area and spoke excellent English, which made communication very easy. We visited Punta Cana downtown, souvenir places and we wanted to also visit local restaurants to sample native food and drinks . He recommend a local place that sold tasty local dishes. He was happy to sit with us . We felt safe and secure with him. After approximately four hours, Alberto dropped us back at our hotel. An excellent guide whom we would highly recommend.

This was an enjoyable shopping experience with a helpful and knowledgeable guide. Shops had unique and affordable souvenirs.
Was great, our guide helped us with each store about what to expect. He was friendly and patient with my Google translate haha
Nice experience the tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable of his job he spoke to us a lot about the current areas we were driving through and took time while we shop and got our gifts. Overall nice experience to try.
For what we paid and the time we got not worth it wanted to take to two souvenir shops which is already free through TUI and could spend as long as wanted there then we got 30 mins to spend in a shopping centre went to two shops n had to return
My experience was non existent. We were told the day of that we would have to meet the pick OUTSIDE of the resort! To get to the outside of the resort we would have had to walk a mile! A mile in that heat, I think not! I found it very strange that they weren’t allowed to dome on the property.it seems every other tour company was.
There were 15 of us who had booked for the tour. Our hotel, Moon Palace was not on the list of pick up sites so we had to go to a nearby hotel. The tour was suppose to begin at 10 by 10:15 the bus had not arrived. We called and they claimed they were not aware of the booking and ask if we can wait 3 hours for a bus to pick us up. After a few negotiation, the driver arrived at 11:30AM. We expected to visit 3 local markets but we were taking to tourist attractions such a mall and a privately owned cluster of shops. We were also only taking to 2 locations not 3. Instead of 1 hour at each location it was 2 hours at one location. We were waiting around to go back to our hotel after 30mins since there were limited shops to visit. And everything was targeted to tourist and overpriced. Disappointed in the experience to say the least. The entire tour was with a 5 mile radius of our hotel.
We had a great experience. Our driver was amazing. He was early to pick us up. Make sure we understood everything that we were buying helped us understand how pricing was took us to multiple shops that we loved even went out of his way to help us exchange currency. The length of the trip was about 2 1/2 hours and it was amazing. Overall, we had a great experience will book again soon.
During this trip, you do get taken to 3 different shopping areas. Customer service was good, but I wasn't impressed by the areas we went in.
The company contacted me the day before with pick up details. He arrived on time. He was very accommodating and receptive to what we were looking to buy.
The shopping tour was disappointing because while in the first store, we were told that we were being transported by a different person and were delayed in going to the next store because of other customers shopping. Finally, we told by the original driver who returned to pick us up that if we wanted to go shopping downtown Punta Cana that we would have to find our own way back to the resort so we went back to the resort. The driver drove recklessly back to the resort.
Alberto was awesome. Picked us up on time and took us to 3 different locations to shop. We got to see some of the local areas
The driver that came to pick us up was over an hour. Late, we would have canceled. However, he came right when we were getting ready to cancel.Once we got in the car, the driver drove like a back out of hell. He almost hit several people on bikes. Came close to hitting a couple cars and just drove like a madman. I would have gave zero stars if possible
The shopping tour was very disappointing. They do not take you to the places that you see in the pictures they post on the site where you book the tour. We went to a store that was ok and had lots of souvenirs and then to another store that was half the size of the first one. We didn't go to an outside bazaar type of market with the individual shops like the picture shows. We drove past the area where Hard Rock and the other pictures they posted and never went there. This tours description is very deceiving and not at all what you think it will be based on the pictures posted. I would not recommend taking this tour at all.
Not what I expected felt rushed. 1st stop was probably the best for survivors but the other stop fast food we can get in united states. And a grocery store with shops attached with not much of a selection.
Your 1st stop to shop is world market it has the best prices overall. Take advantage of shopping there for souveniers.
Not much for shopping. I thought we were going to a big bazaar type of market with the "World Mart" but it was a tiny store. Not impressed at all.
I enjoy the opportunity we had the opportunity to go shopping at the other places that we wouldn't have been able to know about and a couple people were really good in customer service
Pick up and drop off was very good. On time and safe driving. Driver was courteous. The drawback was communication difficulties. My phone could not access translator app w/o wifi. He became very frustrated and impatient with attempts to what I wanted to shop for. Came back to hotel within the hour.
The driver never showed up, would rate zero but not possible. Total waste of time. Get an uber to world mart and save urself the trouble.
Very nice tour enjoyed World Mart prices were very reasonable
This is not really a cultural tour but more so a private driver to take you shopping. Nice driver but was not a cultural tour.
We enjoyed hanging with the locals. Our time downtown was very good. We had an opportunity to shop with the locals visit. The local grocery store I even got a pedicure went was 1800 pesos converted into US $31 I believe on that day which is very very low we went to the local grocery store and shopped around just browse with the locals seeing how things flow there in that region. It was a lot of fun. We enjoyed it and I would recommend it in the daytime because it gets really busy especially another Burger King and I think the jumbo store but it was good. Highly recommend it enjoy be safe.
Loved it even though it was small they were plenty of little items in the shops that I bought a few of and I’m so addicted to one of these chocolates that I bought there. It was a nice small group pick up and drop off was easy and convenient and the drivers were so polite.
We were very happy with our shopping trip. We had two stops at the gift shops. FYI everything is a lot cheaper outside the resort. We ended at the mall. They are still building and not much there. We did most of our shopping at the goft shops.
A short sweet and simple tour. It encompassed enough for the time given. Seeing how cigars were made at a shop was super cool and the origins of Mama Juana.
Great experience for a great price! Our driver Alberto was very helpful and waited for us at each stop. We went to a small store with beautiful spots to take pictures. Then went to a larger souvenir shop with great prices. Lastly, we went to the shopping district. Would highly recommend, thank you again Alberto!
The Punta Cana shopping trip was really good the driver took us to three different locations all with in short distance of each other . He explained what type of shops and the prices to expect.
This was a great trip for the money. We stopped at a few different shopping venues. The prices were reasonable. We picked up gifts for our kids. Our driver Luis provided excellent service and his Lincoln was large and comfortable. One of the highlights of the trip was our afternoon snack at a Dominican Taco Bell. All in all, it was a relaxing, interesting, low key excision that we would do again.
Local shopping experience, learning about the culture and how they live and experiencing how they shop
This tour was not what I thought it would be. The 2 souvenir shops were not very public places. The last stop we were dropped off and told to text another driver when we want picked up. We did not have cell service without WiFi, luckily someone in our group did. The first driver was not very helpful, or attentive. The driver that picked us up was great.
The guides and driver are excellent. The issue I had is that the shopping experience is geared for cheap tourist trinket stuff . The first stop was a store whose prices are higher than other shops and offered: t-shirts, knick knacks and dust collectors.fir example baseball cap US 30$ . Hmmmm. Nope. Second stop was a bigger store with more tourist pap : t-shirts, hats, bottle openers, mugs, cigars and alcohol. Their prices were much better. Third stop was the only mall (?) with limited appeal to purchasing. Nice grocery store with the prices on coffee and local honey amazing. I was looking for a Punta cana shopping district. If this is what you want...would not do.. if you want the usual stuff to take home..this is your experience.
A very nice trip with a very nice driver! Took us to some good shopping. Extras for the driver speaking very good English and told us a lot of the dominican republic!
Alberto was on time for pickup and drove us to our destinations as advertised. Would recommend him for shuttles
The experience wasn’t what I thought it would’ve been, the pictures on the website don’t look like where we went. I was excepting someplace to sit down and eat all we did was keep going into different souvenirs shops.
It was really a nice tour. Manuel took us to great shopping locations and the group was great. As a solo traveler i felt right at home.
This excursion was absolutely not as described and was extremely poorly handled from start to finish. We booked an outing that explicitly stated it included a visit to an outdoor market, which never happened. We were picked up 30 minutes late, and I had to personally call the tour coordinator to find out what was going on. To make matters worse, none of the drivers spoke any English, making communication impossible. Instead of the advertised locations, we were dropped off at places that had nothing to do with the excursion we booked. When I informed the guide that this was not the correct tour, they arranged another ride but took us to a mall, which again was not an outdoor market and not what we paid for. After that, we were inexplicably dropped off at Coco Bongo, which was never part of the excursion, and then completely abandoned. We were stranded there for about an hour. Thankfully, the tourist police noticed us (four women who are not from the Dominican Republic), realized we had been left there, and stayed with us until another driver finally arrived to take us back to our hotel. Without their help, there’s no telling how long we would have been left. To make matters even worse, when I requested a refund, I was only reimbursed for one person, despite there being four of us and the entire excursion being a failure. Overall, this experience consisted of being driven around aimlessly, dropped off at incorrect locations, and ultimately left stranded. I do not recommend this company to anyone. Very disappointing and unprofessional.
We had a great time the driver was really nice and patient.the mall was actually decent. Thank you!!
Very disappointing experience as the pictures do not reflect the place we went! In 2 hours we were done. Prices look fair, but it’s not at all an open market as the pictures might suggest. Its like a small village of « attrape touriste » as we say in French !
Wherever they took us, it was nothing like the pictures. We were just dropped off and walked around with only one souvenir store that had high prices on everything. It didn’t feel as though it was a shopping experience.
great trip great value. wewere taken to multiple places to shop drive was kind and courteous. it was relaxed time without being rushed around
Alberto was amazing. we hit a few little local places before finishing at the san juan plaze. very nice tour great value
First off, we really liked this activity. It was not really the shopping experience we thought it would be, but enjoyed the trip to the Cigar, Chocolate, Rum and Souvenir location. This activity included a pickup from our resort to a small local place with the above mentioned produce. We thought it would be a droppff at a shopping centre or market area, but that is not the case. However, we had a nice tour of the cigar factory where I bought a couple of boxes of their locally produced cigars. They also have the well-known brands intheir inhouse walk-inn humidor shop. For me, this was something I really enjoyed. Afterwards we had a chocolate tasting which my wife really liked and we bought a couple of chocolate products to bring home to the Netherlands. When the time is over, we would be brought back to the resort, but we asked if we instead could be brought to the Blue Mall in Punta Cana. This way we still had an option for some shopping in Punta Cana. This did mean we had to find our own way back, but on the outside at the entrance there is a QR code to scan and we were in contact with a local transportation company offered by the mall to get back to the resort. Just some advice; ofcourse they are going to try and overcharge tourists eventhough there are advertisements that in certain timeframes it should be free. But our resort was outside of the free-of-charge area quite far away. They asked us 30USD and we closed the deal on 15USD. Uber also showed options of 15USD and was also available. So the activity may not be exactly what you expect: being dropped somewhere close to a market near the Coco Bongo, but at a local production center with Don Lucas Cigars, chocolate, rum and souvenir shop.
The driver was very friendly and professional. He waited for us. They offered us coffee and mama Juana on every stop.
Driver was great, confirmed by WhatsApp picked up bang on time. Very flexible with times and extremely polite.
I paid for a shopping trip and was dropped off at a cigar place and no vendors. The driver took us to blue mall and I had to get an uber back to my resort. ( I had to pay more money).
Totally AWESOMENESS!!! My Tour Man WAS Excellent! The lady in the jewelry Show was so nice! Way To Fun
Don't waste your money...the pictures are deceiving and the shopping is more expensive then the resorts to be honest a total rip off.
Thought this was going to be a more open market shops experience. Turns out it's a small private collection of a few shops and chocolate and tobacco making mini factory. You pay a taxi fare here then basically your restricted to there souvenirs in there shops. Not a bad thing really but not quite a real experience. The people were nice, friendly and helpful but it's not your traditional open market or shops.
Nice driver, we didn’t like the first few places he took us but when we described what we where looking for found the perfect little plaza with cigar making demo, coffee bean tour, chocolate tour and more. Was perfect
