Our trip was amazing! The pickup/dropoff was flawless. We had the best time and caught 4 fish, we also learned a lot!

Crew was fantastic. However the condition of the boat was below average. Not enough seating to accommodate the amount of people and the exhaust was putting out so much smoke. The boat was not up to the standard of the price. Sherlock 1. Put should not be doing charters.

This trip is well worth the money! They will pick you up at the resort and treat you like family. Andy was the absolute best! He was very knowledgeable of the area we were fishing. He was very helpful throughout the whole day. He truly went out of his way to make sure our whole family was comfortable. Our trip started off a bit slow. If you are in the Punta Cana area, this is the fishing trip for you!

This was truly a five-star fishing experience from beginning to end. We had an incredibly successful day on the water, catching both mahi-mahi and mackerel. Captain Rosario demonstrated exceptional skill, professionalism, and knowledge throughout the trip, while Andy was an outstanding first mate who worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone had a memorable experience. Their teamwork, attention to detail, and genuine commitment to making the excursion enjoyable were evident at every stage. They were personable, patient, and highly experienced, and they made the entire trip both exciting and comfortable. I would recommend this experience without hesitation and would absolutely book with Captain Rosario and Andy again.

Due to the weather the trip was postponed a couple times but the tour guide worked hard to get us out. We had a fantastic morning. Captain Roselo and First mate Andy tried very hard to get fish on but was just not meant to be. We still enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this excursion.

Our experience had nothing to do with the fishing guides or boats. We originally booked two boats for 14 fishermen. We got a message that the waves were very bad that day, and the captain asked if we wanted to cancel our trip. 7 of the guys decided to cancel before we went out. Of the 7 of us that did end up going out, 5 of us were throwing up within an hour or two of going out. We cut the trip short because the waves were too large to fish. We went out and were back to shore within 3 hours, on a 6 hour excursion. We were given a partial refund, which was nice. I'm sure it would've been an awesome experience, had the waves not been so big that day. The captain and the first mate did everything in their power to make the trip as good as it could be. I would 100% take this excursion again and just hope that the ocean is much calmer the next time we did it.

Fishing was slow, only caught 1 mahi mahi in 6 hours... but that's Fishing guides were very friendly and worked hard all day we saw 5 whales during our trip also which made the slow Fishing day so much better

Fishing was slow so he had time to show our son how to rig the bait. Cap was focused and kept trying to find fish. 5 stars all around.

I would recommend this fishing charter. Although the fishing itself was a little slow, our captain Rosario and first mate, Andy did everything in their power to put us on to fish. Overall it was a 10/10 experience and I’d definitely do it again!

Caught 7 Juvenile Dorado (Mahi Mahi over here) & a couple of small Barracuda so that wasn’t too bad a result. BUT what did annoy me was being about 1/2 hour shy of the 6 hours fishing I paid for. Calculated from the time I stepped on the transfer boat to getting back off it after. Hence I can only rate it as a 3 out of 5.

Our experience could not have been better with this team - with massive thanks to Andrei (the famous Andy, read all his top reviews on Fishingbooker.com for Sherlock 2, every word is true) and equally massive credit to Rosario, our skillful and big-hearted captain, who both took such great care of us. I encourage everyone to book with these guys for their exceptional professionalism, truly enjoyable company, deep knowledge of waters here and great spirits onboard. We will definitely book again with this crew. We came as guests and hadn’t read up on just how rough the seas were beyond the reef, therefore didn’t prep the 3 kids with Dramamine or similar tablets. So had to turn back early.. no doubt leaving some great catches and incredible memories out there - we saw the mahis jumping as we turned for home! I’d not take a kid under 10 years old unless lots of experience in VERY rolling choppy seas - and bring tablets for all. But otherwise you couldn’t pick a better team to guarantee you have the best day on the water.

Amazing trip for our family. We had a blast and caught a lot of fish! Our fishing trip with Big Marlin has been our favorite thing to do while vacationing!

Our first mate and captain were both amazing. Our first mate was very knowledgeable and educated us on fishing. Fortunately for us the Mahi-Mahi were biting that day and we caught a lot. They filleted one for us and we took it to a local restaurant and they cooked it up for us. We did the 4 hour trip and it was perfect. No sea sickness for us with the sea-bands and Dramamine.

Great trip with a great crew! The guys on the Sherlock are awesome and very helpful. They picked us up from the resort and drove us to the beach. We all caught mahi mahi.

This was a nice professional excursion in March 2025. We thought we were skunked for the day until the 9 year old caught a nice barracuda on the way back in. Transport that they arranged was also very good!

Andy and R were amazing guides! Andy taught us a lot about the land and some history about DR. The entire experience from pick up to drop off was seamless! We had an absolutely awesome experience! We booked a private charter for four of us. These guys were top-notch and we felt totally cared for and directed clearly from the moment we were picked up by the driver. Our captain and first mate were awesome. They were very knowledgeable and excelled at making sure we were having a good time. We caught some barracuda and mahi mahi and it was so fun to reel them in! Highly recommend. Our driver was on time to pick us up at the Resort. He was very courteous and professional. When we arrived at the Marina we were advised we would have to wait 15-20 minutes. After approximately 30 minutes our driver came out and told us the boat was broken and we would have to re-schedule or cancel. We didn't have enough time to re-schedule so we had to cancel. Viator immediately sent me an email saying our money would be fully refunded and the driver took us back to the Resort. We didn't get to go fishing which was very disapppointing but everyone was extremely courteous and professional. An excellent experience. We spent 20 minutes talking to our first mate who was very knowledgeable about fishing and the Dominican Republic in general. He was from Ukraine and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversation.

Captain Richard and his first mate Andy were great! Andy is very knowledgable, he explained everything and laid out events of the day in detail. They put us on several nice mahi mahi. The only thing that caught us off guard was how rough the Atlantic seas are. Several of us felt very nauseous from the diesel fumes and rough seas.

We had a great time. Andre was a awesome host and took great care of us. My son and I would definitely go fishing with them again

From dealing with Viator to make the reservation Yustas to work out details to Juno picking us up, Ange our first mate and Captain Richard keeping us on the fish to Max dropping us off it was professional, courteous and fun. We brought in 7 big Mahi Mahi and a barracuda. Captain Richard was finding the fish and Ange kept us in a position to bring them in. We landed 8 of 11. Will only fish with Sherlock II in Punta Cana. Also Captain Richard filleted some Mahi for us to bring back to our Resort Excellence El Carmen where Chef Robert prepared the Mahi 4 ways for us. It was incredible. He Beat Bobby Flay! Overall great experience.

Even though the fishing was slow, Andy provided great conversation and Captain Richard, spotted wales and brought us closer so we could see them.

We have been on this charter twice, and had a good time on both occasions. The hotel pick up is very convenient. While the accommodations on the boat are basic, the service was always good and the crew are knowledgeable and we were fortunate enough to catch fish on both trips. I strongly recommended that you request to have some of your catch cooked up at the local beach front restaurant (for a fee paid to the restaurant). Fresh dorado cooked the same day is exceptionally good eating.

What an incredible day on August 17, 2023! We caught a dozen mahi mahi and a barracuda and lost two more mahi. Andy the deckhand was one of the best I've ever had in probably 20 charter experiences. And Captain Richard put us right on top of the fish. Couldn't find a marlin, but we had an absolute blast reeling in up to 34 inch mahis, with 4 doubles adding to the fun! Can't wait to go back out with these guys again when I'm back in town!

First mate Louie and Captain Richard were very knowledgeable and worked hard to put us on fish. Unfortunately the fish wouldn’t cooperate and we only caught 2 mahi mahi and 3 barracudas. That’s part of fishing though, when the fish were biting they worked hard to ensure we landed them. I would definitely go back.

Very fun fishing experience! Transportation pickup to/from resort to fishing was very easy and had no worries. The Capt and 1st mate were very professional and made our experience one were we would book again. They put us on 2 Barracuder and a respectable Wahoo. The water was a bit choppy so we cut our trip an hour early. I would definitely recommend the Sherlock 2 for your next trip - Salute!

Fantastic fishing trip for my husband and 16 yo son. My daughter and I had a beach day as we get seasick, but my husband and son thoroughly enjoyed their fishing charter! The crew was great, and the captain knew just where to go to catch fish! My boys had a blast catching 11 dorado, then eating their catch for lunch! It was the highlight of their trip to Punta Cana! Highly recommend!

I went on a six hour trip last week during my honeymoon, and was left very unimpressed. I have been fishing across the globe, in a variety of settings from a wooden boat in the Amazon to high end charters in Florida. That being said, the catch is never guaranteed. What makes a great charter, no matter the success, is when real effort is shown. Minimal effort was shown on my trip with BMC. We left at about 7am, a late start, and drove straight to a collection of man made bouys the “local fishermen use and protect”, and proceeded to run a figure 8 around for 5 hours. Not a single other boat, of which there were many, even visited the area until one briefly made an appearance. We saw no bait, no birds, no sign of activity, and I noticed our captain never even called any other captains to see what activity may have been happening that day or changed our tactics in the least. When I am told that the captains are the best in the business, I expect them to at least do their due diligence and try different options to find some measure of success, or speak to the client. Instead, we did what appeared to be the most cost effective approach for the operation, and not what lends the best chances for success. Simply put, I would not suggest this charter to a friend, family or go again with them myself. As for the positives, the first mate was very nice and made good conversation with the little enthusiasm that was had. We liked him well enough, though we aren’t sure he really knew fishing in the area like you would hope. “I trust the captain” isn’t a great line if the boat is sinking!

Well run. Our First Mate was wonderful. Lots of knowledge about the island. We were not lucky on catching anything other than one small Mahi Mahi. But still had a good time.

Just want to say that the trip itself is ok, I booked a full day 9 hour effective trip was promised. Wel, my fishing trip was from 8Am till 3Pm so to hours short... Just tell the people the truth next time please.
