A tremendous experience for learning about coffee and other natural fruits of the DR, and above all, the lifestyle of Dominicans living in the country's rural areas. The tour guides arrived at the agreed time to pick us up and looked after us throughout the entire journey. Highly recommended if you enjoy adventure experiences combined with a workout.

We had an amazing tour! Our guide was excellent—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. One of the highlights was stopping at a local family's home, where the owners warmly welcomed us and gave us a glimpse into authentic local life. We had the opportunity to purchase products made on their farm, which made the experience feel very personal and genuine. The scenery was beautiful, and the entire tour was well organized. Highly recommended!
Lots of fun and if you’re an avid mtn bike rider used to traffic, mud, dirt roads it’ll be perfect! Bikes were surprisingly in great shape and the two guides were polite and helpful! Thanks for a good bike ride!!
We enjoyed riding with Wilkins. Great guide with very relaxed vibe. Knowledge about local plants and usage. Got to see the world beyond the resort. Great for kids to see
i had schedule the afternoon tour since i had another tour that morning, which happened to be running behind. due to the situation being out of my control, company was not accommodating in any way. i was not provided a service and the owner was reluctant to communicate with me, as it took two days to get their attention.
This is a great day trip to take that is away from resorts. We rode through cute little towns. The best part was going to a family owned farm. Our guide, Wilton was amazing. He showed us how the plants develop from coca and coffee beans to the drying and grinding process. So many aspects of the farm was fascinating.
I thought it'd be more scenic. I've biked through Bali and Jamaica and have visited coffee plantations, picked lemongrass and saw the other foliage. If you haven't done this before, this bike tour would be nice but having done this before, it was just Ok. My bike's seat kept falling down and it died on a big hill. The guide showed me how to enable the electric feature to get up the hill which was helpful
Excellent and professional from pick up to drop off. Loved seeing the coffee farm and the bikes are excellent. Clear instructions on how to use and felt like I was cared for with water and recovery drinks. I would do this again when returning to PUJ. Loved that I was away from the tourist area and able to see the real locals and shop local.
Wilken was a great your guide who was patient and willing to answer any questions we had (wanting to know about the place and people we asked many.) The experience was what we were looking for in regard avoiding the typical tourist traps and high pressure sales of "markets." We got to through several small towns, the countryside, and visit a small plantation to see many of the Dominican's offerings. It was nice to feel like we were getting a semi-cultural experience vs the usual zip lining, dune buggies, etc. It was easy riding, very casual, and thoroughly fun. I would definitely encourage others to go for it if it is something on your radar. We did not opt for the hiking option, and we are kicking ourselves for not doing so. The group came to our resort to pick us up and made it a super easy process. It was very cool
What a wonderful experience! The staff was attentive, ready to help with any biking challenges. The views were fantastic. The tour of this rustic, family owned plantation is a highlight of our trip. Playa Macau is spectacular. But mostly we want to highlight how much we enjoyed the tour guide Paul. He was very knowledgeable about so many different aspects of out environment. Paul also gave us recommendations for other activities later in our stay. Highly recommend this excursion.
Great people, nice coffee plantations visit. Pick up drop off availability was a plus. Overall great time.
I enjoyed this bike experience much more than expected. Paul did a great job following behind us in the van. Then Wilken was beautifully bi-lingual, warm, personable, and informative. Great job Wilken and Paul. You guys made my bday trip even more special.
Beautiful and interesting trip. Will’in the guide knew the area and history well. Mix of culture and natural beauty. Great conversation and area background along the way. Nice visit to coffee, coca and fruit plantation.
Wilkin was a great guide. Actual riding time was about an hour. We ended up being the only people, so we had a private tour. We got bananas and water as snacks, and were given samples of coffee and hot chocolate. Bike ride goes to a local coffee, vanilla chocolate plantation. We were able to see the home of the plantation owners, which is a typical farm house and it was neat to see.
We had a great time! It rained, but our guide had us covered - literally; he brought rain jackets! It was a cool experience seeing the island from a bike and it wasn't hard to petal or use even with the bumpy roads.
Wilkes was our guide and spoke excellent English. We used WhatsApp to communicate before the tour re: pick up timing/location, etc. Bike tour had a break mid-way where we learned and sampled local cocoa & coffee.
Wilken was an awesome tour guide! He spoke perfect English so was very easy to understand & was a conversationalist. The stop at the farm was fun too. We learned about processes of coffee and cocoa & had the chance to support local. Would highly recommend!
We had a great tour guide, great weather, and learned some cool facts. The plantation we went to was well maintained and had items available for purchase
We were unable to make our original reservation due to my husband being sick, and they were very accommodating to switch it to another day. They picked us up at our resort and drove us to the location where the bikes were. We were given very little information, essentially just how to use the pedal assist on the e-bike. Then we were off with just us and our guide. Thankfully we have done many bike and e-bike tours before because our guide did not speak English well, and we already knew the hand signals. The first two thirds of the ride is on main roads, so there is a lot of car traffic. We then went onto dirt roads where there was still some traffic, but not as much. Throughout, there was some rough terrain including speed bumps, potholes, etc. The plantation stop was interesting and informative learning how the coffee, cacao, and vanilla beans are grown. Then we rode back to a little further than where we started to Macao Beach which was gorgeous. They gave us time to explore there, then we walked back to the van for our ride back to the resort. It was about an 8 mile bike ride total, and you got to see how real Dominicans live. We enjoyed it, but for someone who is less experienced in cycling, it might be challenging with the roads, traffic and operating the e-bike.
There was 5 of us. None of us ever used an ebike before. Guide could have instructed us alittle better about how to use the bike. He should have had better prepared to have bikes in working order, in fact one of us used it manually, because the electric part was not working. The ride is part pavement and part gravel. A bit scary to road with ongoing traffic, but necessary to get to location. Overall I am giving a 5 as we all did enjoy the experience and tour of the garden area, and personal housing. Bring some cash for small purchases.
we paid for 3 hours and was over in 2 basicly main roads and i little off road stopped of at alittle farm and that was it rode back the same way on the main road again its a shame because i think it could be more intresting
I can't say enough about this experience, one of the best excursions ever! I booked this late at night the day before we wanted to go and received an immediate response. Messaging and calling through WhatsApp made it easy to communicate. Both the guide and driver were friendly and knowledgeable. We had a small group, only 3 on our tour, which was nice. But they keep the group size small and limit it to 10 people anyway. They were on time for the pickup at our resort and the SUV they picked us up in felt clean and safe. NOTE about pickup!!!! If you stay at Hard Rock, the Hotel's policy has changed (unknown to the tour operator). Hard Rock will no longer let them on the property to pick up guests. So you have to get a cab from the lobby to the Main gate out by the highway. (I suppose you would walk, but it's pretty far. A cab was about $10 USD each way.) Upon return, they are required to drop you off at the front gate and you have to again take a cab back to the lobby. This isn't the tour operator's fault, and it's really not a big deal as long as you know. None of us knew so it was a bit confusing for all of us but we got it worked out. Just plan ahead. Visiting the Coffee and Cocoa plantation was very informative and educational, and ALL of the town people that we came across were all so appreciative and friendly. At the coffee/cocoa farm, there are some very nice ladies selling bracelets, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and of course Mamajuana at reasonable prices. So if you're able, they appreciate you buying something, but they don't pressure you. One note, I do not know if they have smaller bikes, so I wouldn't recommend this for small children without talking with the tour operator. These bikes might be too big for children under 10. It also only took us a couple of hours so if you want to get out of your resort to explore without being gone for a full day, I'd recommend this tour! I am glad I did!
We had a wonderful time on this tour. The guides were super nice and very knowledgable. In addition to seeing some of the beauty of the Dominican Republic beyond the beach, we learned a ton about how coffee, chocolate and vanilla and other crops are grown and harvested. The bikes were in good shape (and I'm a biker). This was a great tour. Book in the first day or two of your trip - you may want to book a 2nd or 3rd tour with this group!
Great guides, Wilkin and José and a nice ride on e-bikes, visited a small plantation growing coffee, cocoa and learned about the culture a bit. Very happy we did this. Highly recommend.
Our driver, Jos and guide, Alberto, were very good. Mostly flat paved smooth roads. Jos followed us in SUV so no worries about safety or bikes. We visited a farmer and his wife and tasted coffee and cocoa they had grown. We also went to a beach on Atlantic side of island. Great way to see the island!
Nice bike riding…. But less than expected… probably rode bikes for an hour with two unexpected stops. One stop was a man growing and selling coffee and Cocoa products.
Listen. The weather was hot but the beaches were getting a little boring. Dude when I tell you DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT, F** the tour bus and F** the taxi/Uber, hop on this excursion asap. It’s literally a real tour without all the extra talking, only significant locations or if youre curious and can multitask riding bike and talking, then go for it ! and when you’re on the bike the breeze is constantly hitting you so you’re not hating the heat. I would definitely wear gym clothes, no sleeves or short sleeves is good. Im native to the Puerto Rican island and hopping on this E Bikes to get a feel of the city reminded me of when I used to get on my bike and ride around my Pueblo (town), saying hi to my neighbors, chasing down the ice cream truck. AND YOU CAN CHOOSE TO BE LAZY ON THE BIKE AND BARELY PEDAL. This is hands down the best way to tour anywhere you’re not familiar with. Just put on a small back pack or side bag with a small towel to wipe your sweat or extra water if you’re a super dehydrated individual (they provide water twice) and your phones. Carry some Dominican cash just incase you wanna ask the tour guide for a snack (hundreds of Colmados and hundreds of snack shacks). Dude, they even stop you at this family owned business (the house is like 72 or 96 years old) and behind the house they have their plantation, you can use your American dollars to buy their handmade coffee, vanilla, chocolate, etc. they will show you the plants and it’s was only like 30 min to stop and rest a little bit before you continued your adventure. It’s nothing fancy, it’s literally a typical family plantation. People do not rate this excursion enough. Get your asses off a tour bus and enjoy what it feels like to actually live on the island riding around with the natives. They all ride motorcycles so you’ll be on their level. You’re welcome :) -27 YO female from Puerto Rico and Georgia p.s the whole tour is on a bike so if you plan on stopping to take photos maybe give the guide a heads up, or just do what normal pple do and keep your phone on your body and pull it out while you’re riding your bike and multitask. I feel like the average person is capable of it. Just don’t have out your phone when you’re crossing intersections… unless you have a death wish 😂😂 oh and also to the person who said in the review the price was too expensive? If you’re on vacation, plan to spend money. It was the cheapest excursion yet and the money is going to a a small business. This country is constantly hurting and the least we can do is give them money for their businesses and a tip if you’re generous. We come to visit a country that lives off of tourism and fishing. Don’t be an a***hole.
Booked a tour as we were desperate to get off the resort and see the real Dominican. It was a fantastic decision as the tour was brilliant. We were collected from the hotel and in regular contact with the guide via whatsapp. Bikes were excellent quality and the battery assist on the ebikes was a welcome help up a few hills. Our guide and driver were very friendly and knowledgeable. We felt completely safe at all times as the driver followed behind us throughout the duration of the bike tour. We biked to a local house and were shown around a local house and small holding. We got to see coffee beans, cocoa, mangoes, avocados, cherries, vanilla and much more. It was wonderful and a really personal tour no hassling to buy. Then we biked to the beautiful Playa de Macao beach and had a short time to chill there before heading home in the car. The only thing that was negative was that we were expecting a longer tour. In total from collection to drop off it was 2.5 hours. We were expecting 3 hours of biking and the 30 minutes transportation either end of the tour. I would highly recommend this tour.
We had a great time! We really enjoyed the scenery and meeting local people! Our tour guides were awesome! Highly recommend!
We highly recommend this excursion, we really enjoyed this as a family. The scenery and culture were amazing! Our tour guides were very friendly and great!
About 20km ride, wish it was longer but I’m a cycling hobbyist. Guides were great and on time. Bike was in great working order. Tour of coffee, chocolate farm nice to see and hear more about Dominican heritage. Guides spoke flawless English so easy to understand and get a lot of information. Highly recommended.
This was a nice tour to get out of the resort and see more of the country side. We went about ten miles, but tried to keep the e-bike assist as low as possible to still get some exercise. The guide was nice and knowledgeable about the area. The bikes could use a bit of maintenance.
Great guides! Really friendly, prompt, informational, and helpful. Easy hotel pick up and return. Very nice countryside tour and wonderful to meet local family and tour their plantation home. Thank you!
First the negatives... 1. Poor quality bikes. Buckled/loose wheels, poor brakes and slipping gears. They all need to be replaced and soon as some are just dangerous. 2. The route. Mostly tarmac roads some of which are busy with coaches and lorries passing close to you. There was a nice section of dirt track but that didn't last long unfortunately. For some reason I thought we would be riding mostly off road which was disappointing. 3. The total trip distance was about 9 miles there and back. Lots of stops due to faulty bikes. And now the positives...1.Great company from the guides. 2. Nice stop at the plantation and house. 3. Nice to see some real DR.
Pickup from hotel was just on time, nice team, we had a lot of fun. Went to a garden and learned all about Dominican agriculture. So much better than sitting all day in a bus. And after the tour we got great photos.
Our guides were great Wilton was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was nice being able to ride through the countryside and see a different way of life outside the tourist areas. While dealing with the humidity wasn’t the easiest, our guides had plenty of water for us when needed, and the e-bikes take the effort out of riding hills and other terrain.
I loved wvery part of this tour! The guides were really kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I'd definitely book again. Thanks!
After a week “on complex” this was a great chance to see some of the real DR and get some light exercise. We stopped half way at a plantation growing coffee, cacao, plantain, vanilla, avocado, papaya, etc and were able to taste some samples and look around the owner’s home. It was really low key and whilst there were some items available to buy, they seemed reasonably priced and there was absolutely no pressure. On the way back we stopped at the side of the road for some delicious and cheap empanadas. Total distance was about 16 km with a mixture of road & track, a stream and a few puddles, etc. Some of the bikes were starting to show their age which is why I rated 4 instead of 5. I would definitely recommend this trip 😁
The perfect activity for an active family! E-biking through Macau allowed our family (3 adults and 1 teen) to see life in the DR off the resort. We loved the tour of a DR home to learn about cocoa, coffee, and harvesting papaya, avocados, guava, etc. The biking took us through minimally rocky terrain, and some main streets but the guides ensured we were completely safe. In fact, the guides contacted us the day before the tour to tell us when they would pick us up and what to expect on the ride. While other tours have been crowded or really pushed purchasing souvenir, this one did not do a hard sell, and there were two guides for 6 bikes. They provided water, snacks, and we biked at a pace comfortable for all participants. It was one of the highlights of our trip!!
Very friendly guide and driver. Great experience overall, would definitely recommend. My only suggestion would be for the guide or driver to contact the tourists the morning of whatever day the activity is scheduled instead of 30 min. to an hour before.
Great adventure! The guides were very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of local flare. Not for beginner bikers, difficult road conditions with rocks and deep mud/puddles. Prepare to get dirty.
Pros— Great way to see local towns safely. Back up car always with us with water , to take photos (free) and to watch bikes when we went on brief tours of coffee & chocolate farms. Some expectation to purchase but not a big deal. 1/2 on road, 1/2 off. Don’t have to be a biker but be prepared for bumpy, pot holey back roads. You get dirty. Driver and tour guides were informative and nice. Would definitely recommend and we would do it again! Cons— Bikes were ok but no suspension and battery assist. Don’t go for an awesome, educational biking experience; go to see how people live in the area. A really nice 3 hour excursion that we would do again! FYI—because we booked excursion ourselves, pick up van was not allowed out grounds of our resort (Royalton Punta Cana) so we had 10 minute walk to entrance for pick up. No big deal, but good to know.
Nice trip, would recommend as a nice way to see the real island. Visit to the plantation family was particularly nice
I took this tour with my husband and teenage son. We are all avid bikers, but had never tried an E-bike. We enjoyed it and found it easy to navigate. The length of the tour was perfect (2 hours). We biked off road for the first part, which could be challenging for some who are nervous about bumpy dirt roads. It had rained the night before so there were a lot of puddles on the dirt road - make sure you wear shoes that can get dirty. The coffee/cocoa plantation was nice, as was meeting the friendly family that lives/works there. It was nice to bike through different local towns, as well. Guides were friendly - could have been more talkative, yet not sure what else he could have said about our surroundings. They were just more quiet than I am used to for a guide. I would recommend this tour. The E-bikes made it so easy to bike, especially up hill!
Booked this excursion and ended up being the only one. Felt very safe as a female solo traveller. Very informative guide - explained details of the towns we cycled through and the flora at the plantation. Beautiful family opens their home and property to visitors at the plantation stop - opportunity to buy coffee and vanilla at very reasonable prices. Must do excursion! Best part of my trip to Punta Cana.
Wilken and Jose were wonderful tour guides! Both very relaxed and friendly. I was the only one on the tour and got a very personalized experience. Not rushed, easy 17k pedal through 3 small communities, through farmland trails, and a visit to a coffee/ cocoa plantation (where the owners generously open their home to visitors). Wilken shared lots of knowledge about the local area and various flora. One of the best tours I’ve done. Well organized and felt very safe as a solo female traveller. While some may find biking along the road with traffic intimidating, I actually felt very safe. I’ve biked in larger cities in Canada and actually felt safer biking here than back home.
I love to do bike tours and we usually do one on every trip we go on. I also do not like to give poor reviews. A couple things to think about if you are going to go in the tour. 1. The first 3 miles is very bumpy. If anyone in your group suffers back pain or neck pain this will trigger it for sure. 2. We went at 2:00 pm and experienced a lot of traffic that is very close to you. If anyone in the group is not experienced in riding this will scare them. Also it is not super safe. 3, there is very little interaction by the person actually doing the tour and we had someone in our group fluent in Spanish. More explanation of things and what to expect would of been nice. Now things that we enjoyed 1. Seeing the DR by bike and going through small towns was great.
We liked it a lot. Very well organised and we felt safe all the time. Nice to se the roads and small town up close. Much better perspective than sitting on a tourist bus/truck.
Amazing experience! Our guides we're extremely friendly and accommodating. They were knowledgeable about the area, history, and local agriculture. We loved seeing the countryside, plantations, and parts of the DR one doesn't get to experience in the beaches and vacation zones. Fully recommend to everyone!
Visiting a beautiful small plantation and getting samples of coffee and cocoa which you can purchase, as well as vanilla.
