Be prepared to get a good cardio workout in - the trail is about 3 kilometers long and at the end there's a very steep hill/climb that you may need to pause more than one time to get up to the top. The river is beautiful and the cocoa/coffee processing tour is a nice touch at the end. They will try to sell you on some items after the plantation tour, but that's expected and not too intrusive. Overall, a lovely experience if for nothing but taking AWESOME photos while on the trail in the forest.

We had so much fun! It was definitely hot so dress appropriately. Our tour guide was so nice and informative. Took about an hour to get there from our hotel with the traffic. The hike itself took about an hour and 20 minutes. There is a lot of uphill, I thought it was pretty hard for an experienced hiker. The hike was about 3 miles long. After you’re finished, they bring you to taste coffee and chocolate which I thought was fun! Overall it was a good experience and would definitely do it again! It was great to see the beautiful mountains of Punta Cana
Beautiful, lush scenery. About 5 km, much of it uphill. Rocky terrain. Minimal climbing. Great views. Dress for warm weather. All terrain shoes. Bottled water provided. Hike ended with coffee on a farm.
Would highly recommend! Great way to see the natural habitat in Dominican Republic.
It was such a great experience. Wilkin is a very experienced professional, who was so helpful and friendly throughout the whole trip. We did a hike through the beautiful mountains, passing by farms, nature, wild fruits, and incredible beauty. It was our first hike and it was perfect. We got to try wild fruits like passion fruit and cacao, and learn about the country from Wilkin. Wilkin and his team are amazing. I highly recommend anyone to try this excursion if looking for a unique experience you won’t find anywhere in a resort.
Be prepared to do uphill and vigorous walking. It's hot as well so come prepared and dressed appropriately. The tour was very informative. Wilkin has a great knowledge about the vegetation growing and will educate you on the various trees growing, etc. It was a lot of fun and my daughter and I enjoyed it. Great to do if you love nature.
We had a great time with Wilkin. The trail was at times steep, muddy and wet... but Wilkin always made sure we were taken care of. He pointed out numerous local plants and explained what made them unique. We also loved the coffee/chocolate farm! The path had its difficulties, but it was well worth the journey!
Very good! Wilkin was very friendly and helpfull. The hiking was beautifull and the views breathtaking. He had so much information about the plants and fruits, very interesting. I would definitely recommend!
It was a good hike through the mountain range. Parts of the terrain are challenging as you are going uphill through some rocky/muddy areas, and parts of it are very scenic. Wear sturdy shoes and comfortable clothing. Wilkin, the guide, is very experienced and knowledgeable about the area and made the walk fun! It is an adventure!
Wilkin was a great guide, friendly, informative and patient as we tried to navigate the muddy trail. He was able to pick us up from our resort easily. The hike was beautiful and just challenging enough. A great way to experience the countryside off the beaten path and away from tourists. The tour of the coffee and cocoa plantation was unique and very interesting.
Really enjoyed the hike and give them 5 stars! Wilkin was my guide and Paul was the driver. Wilkin is friendly, very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and just a great overall personality! I appreciated his help crossing the small creeks and rocks, as it was a little muddy. The stop for coffee and cacoa was perfect, learned about the process and enjoyed the tastings.
Beautiful hike through the countryside. While the hike itself isn't too long in terms of distance, the real challenge is the incline and jumping over mud. However, it wasn't overwhelmingly challenging, as long as you take a few breaks you'll probably be fine. Our tour guide Wilkin did a great job, he cleared obstacles, pointed out some of the local nature, and provided photos free of charge! We also got to visit a plantation and were provided free samples of coffee, chocolate, and hand cream. This was the best excursion we had this trip, I would highly recommend it, especially if you want a break from the beach and large tour groups.
Really enjoyed the hike and give them 5 stars! Wilkin was my guide and Paul was the driver. Wilkin is friendly, very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and just a great overall personality! It was excellent opportunity to Vist Dominican Republic mountains. Was a challenging experience that let my Husband. and I to know our limits and endure. An excellent guide who knows the area and help us in the activity.
The experience was so much fun. Seeing the wildlife up close was so amazing. There were parts I struggled with but the views made it even better. Our guide was very cool knowledgeable and fun to hike with. I highly recommend
Wilkin our guide and Paul our driver were incredibly easy going and kind. Wilkin taught us about the local fauna and it was all so interesting. You should know it’s 5km hike and a good portion is up steep hills, we had to take a couple breaks but he was happy to wait for us. The end of the hike ended with a coffee demonstration as well as showing us the real cinnamon and vanilla they grow in the DR. It was great to get out of our hotel and learn more about real Dominican people and culture. I highly recommend if you like to hike and like learning about other ways of life.
We had a very nice hiking tour with Alberto from Culebike. He had a lot of knowledge and was very professional. It was really nice finding a more active tour during our holidqy in Punta Cana!
Wilkin was a great and reliable tour guide. The hike was a 5km (3mi) point to point through jungle, and rural farmland. Keep an eye out for familiar plants, and friendly farm animals. The hike was moderately challenging with a few sections in the middle with a steep grade. I highly recommend if you’re at all interested in escaping the loud resorts for a few hours. Wilkin gave us water, local bananas, and took us to a local family farm to observe coffee and chocolate being made. There was an opportunity to buy some products from the family in a low pressure environment, so bring some extra cash.
Wilkin was a great guide; calm, welcoming, and funny. The hike was about three miles and a lot of it uphill so be prepared! A great way to get some exercise in while on vacation. The hike was beautiful. Loved seeing all the fruit trees and scenery.
We had a fantastic experience on this hike with our guide Wilkin! From start to finish, everything was well-organized and thoughtfully planned. The hike itself was about 5 km and took us through beautiful, lush vegetation. Just as we arrived at the trailhead, it started to rain but Wilkin was fully prepared and handed out raincoats. The trail was peaceful and full of life. Wilkin was incredibly knowledgeable, pointing out many different plants and even some animals along the way. It felt like a mix of a nature walk and a mini jungle adventure, with stunning views throughout. After the hike, we made a stop at a small local farm. It was a lovely and authentic experience. We were also offered water during the trip, and at the end, we even got to enjoy some delicious fresh mangos. 🥰 Big thanks to our guide, who was not only friendly and professional but truly passionate about the nature and culture of the area. Highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves nature, light adventure, and local insights!
My son and I like to hike and came across this guided hike. Wilkin our guide was amazing. Hike was good. Coffee and chocolate tasting was cool. He took us to Macao beach at the end which was breathtaking. I highly recommend this activity if you like hiking. Wilkin is the best!!!
It was a moderate yet exciting hike. Saw native fruit trees and local farm life. I would definitely recommend this hike to anyone who doesn't have a problem climbing.
We enjoyed the beauty of the hike and it got us out of the lounge chair and in motion. Pretty scenery and the guide was very friendly. It was a small group which we enjoyed. We also stopped at a small farm to sip coffee and learn about the cocoa process. We did make a final stop at a local spot to view the river. I would pass on that if given the choice because although it could be pretty it was properly ruined with an enormous amount of trash strewn everywhere. But good trip otherwise.
The hike was difficult but great! There is mud and small water crossings and some parts are pretty steep. The guide Wilkin and the driver Paul were so generous and hospitable with their time and knowledge. I would really recommend this to anyone interested in the outdoors and engaging with local guides. If you're from out of the country, beware, adjusting to the heat and humidity is no joke on a hike like this - but so worth it! Our guides knew a lot about the flora and fauna in the area, not to mention local culture and food. Wilkin and Paul went above and beyond for us and our friends and I would absolutely come back to hang with them and go on more adventures!
Wilkins our tour guide was a relaxed and lovely presence on our hike. He put up with my million questions about the native trees plants and birds and pointed out things we never would have noticed alone. We were lucky to see a wide variety of birds, butterflies and plants as we hiked through the quiet rural hills. The cocoa plantation was a very interesting and delicious experience with opportunity to support the local growers. Only downside was some deep mud after a heavy rain the day prior but it also added an element of fun. Would recommend securely-fitting shoes, ankle support is wise too. Thanks for a great experience, Wilkins!
We thoroughly enjoyed this hike. The scenery is gorgeous and the weather was perfect. A muddy and moderate trek through the mountain trails. The café was a plus. Chocolate is delicious. We were so happy to explore this part of the country. Wilkin is an excellent and knowledgeable guide. The driver is super friendly as well!
Very nice hike and scenery! Will’in the guide knew the area and the foliage and flora well telling us about things along the way. Very beautiful and educational hike. It rained but he had rain gear ready and it didn’t interfere with the day. We ended at a coffee and coco place and had a nice cup of both coffee and coco (chocolate). Loved the service and guide enough to book a biking trip the following day
First of all the tour guide Wilkins was excellent! Although it was rainy, we embrace the muddy wetness and totally enjoyed the experience. The trail was beautiful with an abundance of flora, and mountain views. We even visited a plantation and sampled coffee, chocolate, and cheese. I would highly recommend this moderately difficult hike.
This was a nice hike, short (4k) but better than sitting around the pool again. The guide did an alright job. The farm we stopped at after was cute.
Great adventure good for families and friends Beautiful views and great tour guide Add bonus coffee and chocolate samples
Wilcin was a great guide, it ended up raining on us but Wilcin did his best to make our hike enjoyable. He knows a lot about the local plants and animals and was explaining things as we went along. He speaks excellent English, communication was never a problem. The hike was moderate difficulty, 5km. It was fairly challenging when we went because of the recent rain, but it usually shouldn't be too hard. We'd recommend to anyone who enjoys hiking and wants to learn more about the local nature!
Nice hike, prepare for mud after recent rains! Lots of beautiful plants, lizards, birds, and some friendly local dogs and cows. It was neat seeing how coffee and chocolate are made in the village
Wilkin was a wonderful young man. Very polite. Was with our speed. Showed us a great hike. Please bring shoes that you would not mind to be dirty and wet. Passed cows and horses. Great trail. Drive was also do sweet.
We booked the hike with Wilkin. It was a great private tour with him. He was a walking encyclopaedia of plants and wildlife. We had a very nice 5 km hike through the Domenican Jungle with him, sometimes it was a bit exhausting in the heat but it was definitely worth it for the view and the beautiful untouched nature. A really great excursion to get out of the hotel. Wilkin was super friendly and spoke very good English. We can highly recommend this tour to everyone.
Wilkins was a great guide! It ended up just being the three of us and we appreciated his laid back energy. The driver was great too! This hike was our favorite part of the whole trip and experiencing the beautiful nature and local communities of the area outside of the resort we stayed at. We saw so many fruit trees and the hike was a great workout with beautiful views! You will sweat and potentially get muddy!! We loved it. Recommend if you love hiking and spending time in nature when you are traveling!
Learning about the different wildlife was very interesting. Wilkin was an amazing tour guide and he was very fun and laidback for our younger (early 20s) group. The hike itself was good and towards the end it got more hard but very doable. Wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty or muddy. hiking shoes would be best. Overall We loved it!
The hike was fantastic. It was the perfect difficulty and length. My favorite is actually the excellent communication of the tour guide before and during the tour. We were picked up right on time and he was very friendly!
Excellent experience. Wilkin was a terrific guide, I learned about the plants and farms of the area, and a little about the neighbouring towns. I was alone as others scheduled for the trip cancelled, and I really enjoyed the easy conversation, and also time to just appreciate nature. I would have loved an even longer hike, this will depend on your fitness level. It was a great way to feel less a part of the tourism gimmicks and just see the beautiful countryside.
A great trip to experience the cultural side of the Dominican Republic, Wilkin was a brilliant, friendly, and very knowledgeable guide. The hike was great, seeing all the flora and great views, then stopping off to experience some local produce. All around highly recommend
Our guide Wilkin was awesome! Good communication, he took quality photos and sent them promptly. We got more than we expected out of this trip and definitely recommend!
Great hiking trip from Punta Cana! It’s a small shuttle so you don’t go around all the different resorts picking people up. We were just with one other group. Our tour guide was super friendly spoke great English and even brought his professional camera and sent us photos afterwards. Shuttle ride is about 40 min hike is a moderate hike about two hours. After two weeks at our all inclusive resort we were happy to get out and go see some nature
A wonderful opportunity for those who would like to see a bit of the Dominican countryside. Nice and quiet with some beautiful sights. Billy, our guide, was really good about taking our pictures along the way. It's dense jungle so I recommend going in the morning to beat some of the heat.
We hiked up the side of a beautiful mountain while learning about the local wildlife that flourished all around us. Our tour guide was amazing, respectful and very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!
The view was amazing! The guide help you threw the muddy part. It is a really good way to see the country part and learn about the nature
I had a great time on this tour! The guide was so patient with my older parents. The bikes were decent quality. The pace was good. The countryside was beautiful. This is definitely not for beginner bikers as you do go through some bumpy areas and there are a few steep hills along busy roads. I would recommend starting the tour earlier in the morning if possible since it was quite hot. We were thankful for the cold water provided along the way, and for the safety car that followed us. Highly recommend this tour if you like to bike, want a little adventure, and want to get out into the countryside a bit!
So many fruit trees and raw natural beauty. It was such a delight to do this hike. I would highly recommend if you're in to wanting to see the natural green life of the Dominican Republic. My tour guide was so knowledgeable and excellent!
The whole hiking experience was awesome! I highly recommend this company! The tour guide was very knowledgeable l! Loved the whole experience! Will be going back!
The hike was hard, but in a good way. It rained so it was very muddy and slippery. Our guide was knowledgeable and very nice. The view was gorgeous. The stop at the farm was nice. Very good coffe. It was a great experience.
The guide and drivers were great. We did have to go down to our main gate to get in the transportation. The hike was hard and quite a bit of elevation throughout. There were muddy areas and multiple small streams you have to navigate. Wear sneakers with a good grip and I would recommend a hiking stick. Overall great workout !
Really enjoyed that one. The crew was friendly and professional. Jose, the guide, spoke great English. The vehicle was very well air-conditioned. The hike was beautiful. I went at 11 AM, sunburnt after my trip to Saona the day before - and I still survived. The hike is not super long, I'd say under 10K, it may feel a bit like an obstacle course at times due to all the steep slopes, mud, shaky rocks, the streams you have to jump over. Especially if you are taking it after a day of rum drinking - get ready for some sweat. But it's still so worth it. The scenery is gorgeous. Mountains covered with lush of tropical greenery. You definitely won’t see that from your all-inclusive. We saw a bunch of flowers and butterflies. Even cows at some point. I also saw the majority of tropical fruit I can think of growing in the wild. After that, we stopped by the Anamuya River. That one was both nice and frustrating because of all the trash people leave there. Then we went to a small rancho where they showed us how to make chocolate and coffee. I really loved that one a lot. Make sure you taste Mama Juana while you are there.
