Group Surf Lessons Punta Cana Fun Easy And Beginner Friendly

My 16 year old and 11 year old did a group lesson and my husband and I went along as spectators. There were four people in the water with my kids- 3 instructors and a photographer. They were incredibly patient, made sure the kids had fun and helped them catch lots of waves. The location is gorgeous! Our favorite beach of the trip. This is a great value and we brought home some fantastic memories.

We had a large group ages 18-60. All had a fantastic time. Each had a personal instructor who made sure they were successful. Driver arrived on time in a well air conditioned vehicle.

This was a fun experience for the whole family- two adults in our 40s and 10 and 13 yo girls - literally everyone had fun which isn’t easy to do in our household across interests. The team makes it so easy for you to get started and even helps you get back out to the best place to start your surf. The coaches were super encouraging and it was a 1:1 staff to surfer ratio plus two more in the water to help us get back out after riding the waves in. Totally worth the money and IMO could have charged 1.5 x as much and I would have paid it for this experience!

Great experience. We took a group of 15 teenage boys and they loved it. The student to instructor ratio was amazing. 10/10, highly recommend.

We got our two boys (17 & 21) the package for 3 group surfing lessons at 2 hours each. Even though it was with a group, each person seemed to have an instructor with them in the water. This was the first time for both and, after the 3rd session, they were doing extremely well catching the waves. All of the staff were friendly and helpful but my son especially loved working with Manuel. He had great energy and helped him out a lot the last two sessions.

Highly recommend! Our family of 7 had an amazing experience. They really do make it easy for everyone. There were 1-2 people for every surfer. We all had a great time!

Excellent group, organized pick up at the resort and drop off after finishing the lessons. What was really helpful was having an instructor for each person in our group so that it was easier for people to get into waves and paddle around.

Samuel, Rafael and Kendro were amazing and very helpful. Transportation was simple. The waves were awesome and we had a lot of fun.

I booked this excursion for my sons age 13 and 19. The instructors were great and the boys really enjoyed it. 2 hours is more than enough time. The instructor work with them and had them out in the surf within 20 minutes of arrival. Both my sons are pretty athletic but were definitely wore slap out after 1.5 hours on the water. Def a bucket list experience if you are into water sports. They really enjoyed it and would go back.

It was a great experience, we’ve never surfed before and in just three days we learned so much and was able to ride on multiple waves. All the staffs are very friendly, instructors are very knowledgeable, would definitely come back again!

They pick us up from our secrets hotel. We’re on time and the car was nice. They provided everything we needed for surfing. Our instructors were really nice and accommodating. They worked with us. I really appreciated the pushes in every way and we were able to stand up about half the time, being beginners. Really good day. Bring lots of sunblock.

Provided next to no guidance or instructions, literally only “paddle, paddle, paddle” first person we ran into when arriving scammed us into paying $10 for coconut water pretending it was a gratuity. Everything there is a tourist trap. Rinse off in the shower? Extra charge. Use the bathroom? Extra charge. It was a very uncomfortable experience, everyone that approached us wanted us to buy something and tried to lead with friendly conversation to get us to say yes. The instructors were very nice but didn’t appear to have any surfing experience.

Everyone was super nice and patient with us beginner surfers. They made us feel welcomed and safe. Would highly recommend booking with them.

This was the highlight of our trip. There were 8 of us ranging from 15 to 47 and no one had tried surfing before. We all had a great time and were able to “surf” by the end. The instructors were so much fun. I highly recommend this for families with teenagers and young adults. Worth every penny! And plan to buy the photos and video!!!

Amazing! A must do for Beach/ocean lovers. The staff was very friendly, and attentive. Great beach. It took several attempts to get the hang of it. Once I got it it was none stop. Definitely recommend it. I am so exited to take surf lessons again. .

This place was great. We had a little mixup as we booked the day of and did not get a confirmation for pickup. We contacted Viator who honestly was not helpful and our pickup time came and went. Our hotel guest services was able to help and contacted them, told us they don't usually pickup from my hotel but they would any ways. They cam e an hour later. We had a solo pickup and went straight to the beach. The beach is breathtaking! They gave us a quick 5 minute lesson on the beach and then took us to the ocean. It was just my wife and myself and we each had our own instructor who both were great. They were able to help us both get up (first time surfers). Which was exhilarating! We ended up not using the whole two hours as we were exhausted after an hour of surfing. They told us we could hang at the beach as long as they were open. I highly recommend this experience if you want to give surfing a shot. Book at least the day before and be sure your hotel is listed for pickup.

Excellent experience for 3 tween/teen girls. All 3 girls received one on one coaching and were standing on the board within 10 minutes. They had a blast with their 1st time surfing

I couldn't wait to leave this review. My family and I travel every spring break to different destinations. We usually do 2 to 3 excursions. This was the best. From the individualized attention to the huge encouragement from the team. Everybody was great. Maybe this will speak volumes, I was so blown away by the staff that I needed to go to the ATM to get more for gratuity. The pictures, I tend to skip these normally. In the situation it was great. You can focus on the task and your family and although it is significantly more than ordering photos at Walgreens, I think it is still worth it for the peace of mind. BRING A TOWEL!

Our granddaughters ages 10, 13, and 15 had a wonderful time learning to surf. The instructors were very attentive and professional. There were 4-5 instructors at all times and were very safety minded. The girls enjoyed their first lesson so much we booked another another day of our trip.

We arrived slightly late as they sent an email that had a sooner pickup time than what the actual booking here said (my fault as I didn’t realize that they all would do that). They were still kind about it. We were provided rash guards, surfboards, and a quick lesson before they sent you out. When you go out to surf they have two people to help. One will help you find the wave to surf and the other will help you get your board back to the wave (both very helpful). Don’t underestimate the amount of your body you will use to surf. I was so sore for many days after. We were given the option to return to our resort immediately or hang out on the beach a bit which was nice. If I could do it over again, I 1,000 times would. What a feeling!

The instructors were great and in the water with you the whole time. We went in December and waves were aggressive so getting out to surf was sometimes challenging. The photo/video people were fantastic!

My two teenage boys did this activity. They are both athletic but neither had prior surfing experience. After very brief instruction they were both up and surfing well. Each had there own individual instructor who stayed in the surf the entire time and helped launch them on good waves. Two hours was plenty. Both boys were exhausted at the end. Company does a great job using multiple cameras and a drone to capture photos and video. You have the option to buy or not buy photos at the end. Super clean beach. Very beautiful. My wife and I went along and watched boys from the beach. Local sales folks are a little annoying but manageable.

I’ve taken many surf classes in many different places… This one was HANDS DOWN the best i’ve ever taken! The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, personable & the setting was breathtaking. It was so efficient & we rode so many waves. I got engaged the night before our class & I could not have DREAMED of a more perfect way to spend our first day as fiancés. Not to mention the pictures & videos taken- They truly went above & beyond. THANK YOU x10000000 for the memory of a lifetime- We are truly so grateful & will rave about this place for a lifetime.

The group surfing at Macao Surf Camp was a great experience! We had an easy pick up at our hotel, arrived easily at Macao Beach and got right to the correct place. We were greeted, outfitted with rash guards and given a quick lesson on land. Then they carried our boards to the other end of the beach, and got us right in the water! We each had an instructor plus an extra staff member to help us collect our board after we rode the waves in! We had a great time, the staff was friendly, helpful and kind. I couldn't recommend this activity more!! We opted out of getting photos, which I regret now. Spend the $35 and get photos of a once in a lifetime experience.

The driver went to the wrong resort so we waited for a little but they took care of that problem as soon as they can and send another driver to pick us up, wrote group lesson but actually each of you will get a coach to stay with you in the water and help you get up as much as they can!!! All of our three coaches were super nice and helpful, the camera guy (extra charge but to me it worth it) was also very nice and even helped with another coach to hold the surfing board for my can’t-swimming-friend to let him stand up and took pictures for him!

Amazing experience! Each person in our group had their own helper, and everyone was able to get up. The two hour group lesson was perfect for our group of eight, with an age range of 10-40yo. Highly recommend!

The staff at Macao Surf Camp is the best! I've worked with them twice...once a few years ago, and again last week. Both experiences were fantastic! I have a decent bit of surfing experience, but the rest of my family does not. Five of our group took a group lesson, I just rented a surfboard. Everyone had a great time! We stayed at a resort a bit further up the coast. MSC arranged to pick our group up at the resort and brought us to Playa Macao. They are located at a public beach access, with a little facility that has a changing area, shower, and plenty of surfboards of all types (long, short, both hard and foam-topped). For people bringing towels/bags/wallets/phones, they are happy to safely store everything while you are surfing. They also have rashguards available to borrow if you need them. The section of beach to the immediate west of MSC is wide-open...so plenty of space to spread out. No competition for waves, no rocks, and no danger of irritating any locals. August isn't necessarily peak surfing season, but we experienced small (2-4 ft), friendly waves that were great for lessons...but also good enough for me to get in some short but gratifying rides. My family members taking lessons reported that the instructors were super-friendly, and as I was watching from down the beach I saw everyone up on their feet multiple times...with lots of triumphant, happy yelling. As you would expect, they also have staff taking pictures, so bring a credit card if you want to purchase (which we did in this case). After lessons/surfing...there is a small bar to grab a beer and a snack, and some locals selling crafts. (Also friendly and fun!) If you are after a serious, big-wave surfing experience (in August)...this might not be the place. But for a friendly morning of surfing, some great introductory lessons, and a staff that can handle the logistics, MSC is amazing! Special thanks to Larisa for answering my questions and getting everything arranged. Could not recommend more! I'm looking forward to our next visit!

I took my son on this excursion. The pickup and drop off was easy and our instructors were fantastic. We got one on one attention and were up surfing by the second wave. The beach is also stunning!! My advice, there will be someone who wants to take your pictures for an additional fee. I would recommend taking advantage of this. They guy stayed in the water for almost half the time and took almost 200 pics. i got numerous pics of my son and I riding waves together. I brought my phone in a waterproof case and there is just no way to get good pics while also trying to surf.

Awesome time with the MSC crew. My kids and I had surfed a few times in the past but it was a few years - after a quick popup technique refresher on the sand, they had us catching waves from the very first one. All the instructors were super friendly and helpful and had great tips along the way to improve our riding abilities. Would definitely recommend and go with them again!

My 18 year old brother and I (age 21) did this excursion and within 3 tries we got up! The guys that helped us were super well versed on surfing and kept us motivated. We appreciated that they were watching the weather before we went so we had the best experience we could. Really fun time and would recommend!

Very skilled at making sure you catch a wave and get up on your board. Lots of helpers to assist with your board and getting back out to the waves. Our entire group of 11 were riding waves within the first 30 minutes

The pick up was on time and transfers to and back very smoothly in a comfortable mini van. The surf school is really good and the instructors (one per person) made the difference and were very helpful. The only thing they need to improve is the quality of the surf boards they are very old and tired! They need replacing. Overall great experience to do whilst visiting Punta Cana.

This was the best experience I’ve had on a vacation. Everyone was so kind, professional and helpful. We all had our own instructor which made it very easy for all of us to get up on almost all of our waves. We went into very nervous as we have never surfed and were so pleased that we were able to catch so many waves. Transportation too and from was also incredible! Picked us up at our door and the van was so clean. Definitely a must!!

I had the best time with this company! The instructors made sure we got as many waves as possible and gave good tips to stay standing up on the waves! Everyone was really friendly and went to great lengths to make sure we had an amazing time, I'll 100% be going back next time I'm here!

My husband, 9 year old daughter and I had an amazing time at Macao surf camp. We booked it through Viator and the communication and transportation were perfect. After a short practice session on the beach we walked to an area where the surf wasn’t as rough. The instructors were really wonderful, helping us get ready to ride the waves, paddle back out and encouraging and cheering us along the way. We really couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend.

This was one of the best experiences of my life! The instructors were amazing and everyone in our group was able to surf within 15 minutes. We had a mix of All ages, 40,17,16,14 and 11. I personally had Guillermo and he was helpful! 100% recommend! The photos were great as well!

We loved it! Neither of us had surfed before and it was perfect for beginners. The instructors were attentive and helpful and we were able to get up on our first try. The photos we got were great and, we thought, well worth the money. The negative reviews I have read here, like getting sunburned or not immediately being able to surf, are not the fault of the surf camp.

The staff was very helpful and attentive during the lessons. The pictures and video are overpriced the package. A less than 2 minute video!

Highly recommend! We went with a group of 11. We had kids 11-16 that had never surfed. They made this an exceptional first experience for our children. They picked us up from our hotel and returned us. The instructors were great. We also hired the photographer that was available and got tons of great pictures. Beach was beautiful. Definitely book this as one of your vacation excursions!

Highly recommend the surfing. My kids 11 and 13 loved it. The instructors work really hard. I would bring cash to buy the videos and pictures and tip. They give you a better deal with cash.
