The tour was worth the time and money. The tour guide was very knowledgable of different towns and the many places we stopped along the way. We were also accompanied by police escorts while walking through town and this made us feel safer. The traditional Dominican food was plentiful and tasty. We really enjoyed the tour and all it had to offer.

We booked the Supreme Safari Sightseeing tour on 6/18/2026. The destinations on the tour were great; however, the tour guide was not. My aunt wanted to know more about the development of other cities in the DR. So once we got off, I went over to ask our tour guide. Wanting to practice my Spanish, I said: “Excuse me, this will sound like a stupid question, but are there other cities in the Dominican Republic with larger buildings, or are most cities similar to this one?” In retrospect, the question may have sounded condescending, but this was absolutely not my intention. Let me be very clear, I love the DR and would never dream of speaking badly about such a place. However, my guide got visibly offended. So, in front of my entire family as well as the 28 or so other people in the tour, he asked me how many languages I spoke, then told me he spoke 10. He then proceeded to tell me he was a Professor and a Neurosurgeon who had 2 operations every week (He thought I was a university student until my family told him that I’m still in High School). He ended his speech by accusing me of coming to the DR for “f****** technology” and that I should go somewhere else. I felt like absolute garbage for asking. I was absolutely humiliated and also guilty that I had made him think that I was insulting him. He later tried to make amends by explaining in detail each part of the DR and its exports using a map. I apologized for my question, telling him I didn’t mean it that way, but he never apologized. Instead, he told me he was playing a “mind game” and was just fooling with me. Really ruined the rest of my day and left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn’t dare utter a single word of Spanish after that, for the rest of the trip.
Absolutely amazing, the team are genuinely caring and providing a service with a smile. I couldn't believe how many places they fit in a day tour. Stunning country side, to beaches, churches and beach. Lunch was delicious. Thank you
Great experience! Very knowledgeable. Very fun. Learned so much. And saw so many beautiful things. The beautiful landscape and architecture. Would definitely recommend!
Good value for the money. Some things to know: Horse back riding is only 10 min. The stop at the market was interesting..definitely gives u a sense of the everyday market. Open bar is rum and soda only and water. Jose and his team were fantastic!!!
The activity included a few different stops. Began with a brief horseback ride, cigar stop, followed by a stop at an outdoor market, souvenir shop, Cathedral, lunch, cacao farm and lastly stop at Macao beach. The stop are brief but you maybe stuck waiting for other guest. The bus his pack to capacity, so customer service lacks with only one guide. We were about 40 on a school bus.
This is a good trip. The guides are excellent and very informative. The bus is comfortable, and you get plenty of drinks along the way. The stop offs are great and very interesting. The market is good but a bit smelly in places, so it's not best if you are a bit sensitive to that sort of thing. We visited a school, the kids were great and very welcoming, we took snacks from the hotel and gave these to the school staff to distribute to the kids. The trip to the typical Dominican house was great. You did not feel like you were intruding, and the guidelines were great and had plenty of information. Macau beach is great, make sure you take you swimming gear because you will certainly feel like having a cooling dip in the sea. Overall this a a great trip, worth the money and allows you to see more of Punta Cana than just the hotels and beach.
Well balanced tour of visiting the basilica, local coffee and coco farm. Also loved visiting the making of cigars. Wonderful tour!
Took half day tour. Great experience of local life and farming. Roberto was very informative and fun. Recommend to everyone.
I loved every single part of the trip. The best thing was that you really see the real Dominican life on the village and you can buy some real cocoa and coffe from the farmers. It’s been really a great adventure! 100% recommended. And please if you book make sure to leave a tip for the drivers. They don’t gain much and you can really make their day! 😊
It was perfect. I’m so appreciated. Excursion, road, horses, beach, Cathedrale, shops, food. It was raining, but thanks for amazing guide we felt free and happy ❤️
Had a fantastic day exploring and sightseeing, well worth the money, tour guide was amazing and spoke fluent in many languages. Only downside is the professional photos were a con, he took as many as he could and had had to buy all of them, you couldn't choose just a few, we never knew he took 87 photos of us and had to buy them all just to get the ones we wanted!!!
You get a lot for your money it was very nice. It was a great trip. Me and my husband have a wonderful time. We did not speak Spanish, but we did not feel left out.
The tour was very expansive and covered a wide range of experiences available to enjoy in the Dominican Republic. The tour guide was VERY impressive in his mastery of many different languages and in sharing his knowledge of the country’s culture, economy, politics and history. If you want to experience the real Dominican Republic and immerse yourself in the culture, this is the perfect tour. 10/10 would recommend.
Very knowledgeable guides who gave us lots of information about the island and people. We visited a cigar planation, church, coffee and chocolate farm and a beach. We would highly recommend this tour.
I was anticipating a wonderful drive and a better understanding of the DR people. Well, we traveled in a bus without AC. It was hot and the roads were terrible. I kept hitting my side and left arm continuously. We only had 15 minutes with horseback riding, a walk thru the church, less than 30 minutes at the beach and 10 minutes shopping. We spent way too much time traveling compared to activities. The school was nice but I hated interfering with their school day. We also spent a lot of time looking at the house and looking at chocolate and coffee beans. This activity could have been better if it was arranged differently. I feel we spent too much time in a bus where we were bounced all over. The lunch was the best part of the day. I feel it would be a good activity if they arranged the differently. I was not happy with our time spent on this tour. I really wanted it to be comfortable and educational. Lastly, our guide spoke mostly in Spanish. This tour is not for everyone. I would suggest they get new buses and change the schedule to allow the participants more time at less places. I would delete the shopping tour. It was terrible with the smells and crowded areas.
Seeing different parts of the Domenician Republic. Meeting the locals, sharing the experience with other participants. The tour guides were friendly. I would take out the 40 minutes at Macao Beach, its just not worth it, not enough time to enjoy. Every stop we made, somebody had their hand out wanting you to buy, it is suppose to be tour, not a money drop off pit. And last, they need to train the guy taking photos. He was constantly pulling us to aside to take pictures that we were missing out on some of the information given about each stop. He was upsetting horses and just being overly aggressive. He was also trying to over charge us for pictures we didnt ask him to take, I ended up not buying any because I thought he was trying to get over. We did see some great stops though.
Lorenzo was our guide and he did a great job explaining everything, making it fun and interesting. He and the driver picked us up on the hotel on time, although there was some confusion on the list over our name as we had booked through another travel agency. The tour took us to Higues and the first stop was on a horse ranch, cigar making and a shop with paintings. We rode the horses for about 15 min to go back and forth towards the back of the property. One of the guys working there noticed that I was nervous since my horse kept pacing and he offered to take me and he even took photos! Super nice and talked to me about the ranch and the horses. At the front, the cigar maker gave us a demonstration and you could purchase cigars. Also, Lorenzo provided more information. Then, we went to a sugar cane plantation and stop on the side of the road to see it up close and Lorenzo cut some for us. Next, we stopped at a elementary school. This part was sad, a lot of kids were asking for money through the windows of the bus. The school had a little box for donations too. It was good to see how Dominican people leave, but sad they had to resort to begging. After, we did a stop in Higuey see the market and the cathedral. The market I would have skipped since there was a lot of construction and holes. The cathedral design was interesting and stained glass beautiful. Our stop for lunch was at El Salto de Anamuya and there is a river behind it. Some people were swimming. It was buffet with spaghetti, rice, salad, some fruit, pork chop and chicken if I remember correctly. The next stop was at the cacao and coffee farm and the house of a really nice lady that she let us tried cacao before processing and some hot chocolate. She also sold some coffee and cacao products. We were able to tour her house to see how traditional Dominican houses are built. To finish we went to Macao beach. The beach is beautiful but it is too rough for swimming. When we went it had red flags on it. Even Lorenzo said to not swim or to stay very close to the shore as the surf was rough. There are some bars and restaurants you can sit down too for shade as well.
Amazing experience from start to finish. Made great by our guide Lorenzo, who was very helpful, educational and knowledgeable. It was very interesting to see how the real non turistic Dominican republic looked like. If the rating could be higher would rate higher than 5 stars
This was by far the best tour/excursion we have ever been on. Every single minute was perfect!! It was incredible to see how they live. The Dominicans are the most resourceful people I have ever seen in the world. The tour guides made the whole day so much fun but yet so educational. I will definitely be doing the tour on our next trip back to Punta Cana!!
We did the full day tour (non adventure). This tour provided a varied perspective of the wider Punta Cana / La Altigratia area. I liked that we visited small local places instead of polished touristy places. It felt that we were contributing in some way to small providers in the area instead of feeding money into large businesses / chains. Our guide was very knowledgeable and seemed committed to helping the people of the DR. He brought treats for the children at a local school. He also went out of his way to help my 87 year old father find a comfortable spot at our beach stop. Lunch was good and we also purchased the photos - saved us from getting our phones out all the time. The team were on time and very friendly. I’d definitely recommend this tour.
Interesting tour. This is a long tour with several stops. It was good for the price we paid. I enjoyed all the activities we did. The beach at the end was amazing. It is beautiful and I wish we had spent more time there. The only thing that gives me pause is the horse back riding. The horses we rode were very thin and did not appear to be well cared for. My horse seemed to be convulsing on the tour. It was an unpleasant experience. I would recommend this tour though. It’s a great way to get a feel of the local area in a few hours.
This was a great experience for me and my wifey, we are from Cancun, Mexico so we are used to these type of tours but this was truly a unforgettable and unique experience, this tour has pretty much everything you want to do when visiting Punta Cana whether its eating local food, doing horseback riding, going to the beach, learning about cacao, coffee and local cigars or having your own personal paparazzi that will give you a great deal to take all your pictures back home. One of the best tours I ever experienced, really grateful for this company as well as their great guides, drivers and photographers.
Had an amazing trip on this adventure! All staff was great, my family loved it! My kids loved the horse ride trip and the only thing wrong was the beach, watch out for the local venders at the beach, cedars were over priced! But other than that it was amazing and the staff was awesome!
Although I booked this at the last minute, I was able to make some changes with the tour manager and gave me the best deal possible. This trip gave me a whole perspective of what RD is all about. I appreciate all the places that we went to. Our tour guide Samuel, was great! thank you! I appreciate everything!
Between the Cathedral, the visit of the Dona maria dominican republic coffee and Cacao interpretation centre, Sugar cane and cigar making demonstration interpretation and history tour, not to mention the little horse ride ( for beginners), it was a lovely day with Manuel , our guide who was both informative and entertaining for adults and kids
There was a mix up with our Monday tour, but Viator rearranged the days so we could go to both tours!! Thank you! we only had 3 days to take the tours. The guide was awesome! also the driver and helper. Lunch was great! The only warning !!do your own compare/shopping!!! make sure you bargain! The beach was not a great location. It was under construction. No place to sit unless you wanted a drink!
Enjoyed the Safari immensely. (Just hold on to your hat as I lost my favorite) Ruddy provided us with a wealth of information. So appreciated! Melo the best driver ever, knew the location of every speed bump and pot hole, kept us safe. Had a ton of fun. Would highly recommend!
I did sons research but couldn’t find many comments about Supreme Safari so I was a little worried about going but I had no need to worry and I’m so glad I went as it was one of the best trips. Pick - they were early, so no waiting around. Tour guide - Lorenzo, excellent English. (Spoke about 5 languages) The day; Horse riding - only about 15/20 mins but very nice place and local family business where you also saw their cigar business and how they are made Local town - where lots of staff in the hotels live Local market - we didn’t buy anything as it was for locals and tbh it’s not the place I would buy from but it was hard hitting to see where local people shopped! The way they would have up walk their, the hustle and bustle of the market then walk back with bags! (No home delivery service there) Cathedral- beautiful place Lunch was excellent food and in the most idilic spot. They were so welcoming, couldn’t do enough for you. We had a choice of pasta, meat, chilli, salad & fruit. All home cooked. Local coco & coffee plantation Locals home - you actually got to see where a local family live (tbh I wasn’t 100% if they defo lived there or they said they did as a job and part of the trip. But either way, the house gives you a look at what it’s really like on. D.R) Maco beach - 45 mins at the beautiful beach. Would I recommend this company 100% YES. Book it you won’t be sorry. Enjoy
We took this tour with my sister and her husband. We started with a horseback ride. We saw several landscapes. We drove a lot but it was nice and cool. We were offered beer and other drinks. Lunch came early closer to noon. The food was good. The beach at the end of the trip was great.

Great tour that gives you a good feel of the island. A little more commentary while traveling to tell us about the areas we traveled through is the only thing I would change about this tour. Everyone was very nice and accommodating.

This tour was okay. We were picked up 15 minutes late and were worried they had forgotten us. We paid to make a call to make sure they were still coming to get us. Our guide was nice and funny but could have been more informative. There were several questions that went unanswered and I felt like he did more singing than explaining. The bartender was nonexistent. He served drinks 3 times and one of those times was when we stopped for lunch. The rest of the time he just rode up front with the driver and was unavailable. The seats on this tour were very uncomfortable. The photographer was a joke. He acted like he didn't even care about his job. We were never even offered to look at our pictures let alone buy them. Very disappointed in that part. If you have longer hair I suggest bringing a hair tie since the bus is all open and your hair will be wind blown. Visiting the place with the horses was ok, the merchandise was overpriced but it was neat seeing how they rolled cigars. Seeing the school was neat but our guide spent more time explain why we couldn't go in than explaining the actual education system they have. The country house was a cool experience and you do get to tour the house inside and out. The woman explaining about cocoa and coffee was nice and it was refreshing to hear her explain things. Lunch was great and you had more than enough time to eat, use the restroom and regroup before heading to the city. Don't expect any kind of explanation while you are on your 25 minute drive to the city. No drink service and no tour guide while you pass a lot of interesting sites. It is s loud and windy while you are driving that if you are not up close to the front the guide can't hear your questions. They may not get answered anyway. Visiting the city marketplace was nice but very fast paced you are there for maybe 5 minutes. The church was beautiful but I would have rather spent more time there than going to the beach. Visiting the beach seemed unnecessary since we were staying at a resort on the beach. People try to sell you tourist stuff and a guy with a parrot will let you take pictures with it and then try to charge you 10 for them. The beach just really seemed like a waste of time. We did not visit a coconut oil factory or a pristine river. It was never even mentioned to us as an option but it is listed in the description. Exchanging passengers on the side of the highway was weird and people just getting into cabs at the end of the day was odd. Some were left on the bus and others were shipped off in cabs on the side of the road. We made it back to our hotel an hour later than we were initally told. Overall it was an ok day.

Got to see a lot especially enjoyed the visit to a home and the owners demonstration on manufacturing cocoa. The description is not accurate the was no coconut demonstration and the visit to the sugar cane was not impressive plants were small and no demonstration just a stop for local kids to beg

Very informational and our guides were fantastic. Two stops with water so wear your suit. The stop at the Catholic church I was not prepared for as you couldnt go in with your chest/bust out if your swimwear was revealing. They had large smocks to put over you which were HOT. I had a swim cover that I was able to close over myself thank goodness. There was a photographer on our bus as well that took pics the entire day for sale if you liked any.

This was a nice change of pace from the resort. We were picked up at 8:30. However, it took about an hour before the tour got fully underway due to several others having to be picked up from their hotel.

We learned some interesting things about Dominican culture that are not things that would be learned while remaining isolated on the resort. Our first stop was at a school house in the country side. We didn't get out, but just stopped for a few seconds to get a lesson on how their school system work. The children were fascinated by our stop and some waved and ran out to hand us flowers. We weren't sure if it was real or staged, but it just seemed rather strange. Next we did the horseback riding which was about 15-20 minutes and was a very nice experience. The horses looked fairly healthy but the dogs at the farm looked malnourished. There was some very beautiful wood carvings there that we purchased and also some artwork and jewel that we were being pushed hard to purchase, but we declined being as it just wasn't all that great. At the horse farm we also had a brief lesson in Dominican cigars which was cool.

We then went to lunch which wasn't really that great, but we were very hungry by this point so it was satisfactory enough. From there we went to a local farm where we learned some interesting facts about the Cacao plant, how chocolate is made etc. And visited the home of the family who supposedly ran the farm. The house was obviously staged. Still it was cool to see and get a general idea of how some Dominicans live. We also visited a church in the town of Higuey. It was very gaudy looking on the outside but nice on the inside, but nothing particularly spectacular about it being as it was built in the 20th century, but there was a 17th century painting at the altar of the Virgin Mary which was wonderful to see.

We did visit the local market which seemed rather pointless since we didn't stop to talk about some of the exotic fruits and vegetables we were seeing or even get a lesson in how they receive their product how well it sales etc. There was another opportunity to shop for souvenirs while downtown but be ready to be bombarded by children begging for money and trying to sell stuff.

Our last stop was Macao Beach, which was beautiful. We only had 20 minutes there but our guide allowed us more time because the water was so wonderful. There was seaweed on the beach, but not enough to complain about.

Overall the excursion was okay. The countryside and mountains were beautiful but there was lots of trash everywhere just thrown on the side of the road. I'm not sure what the Half Day tour includes but I don't think it'd be worth your time. The full-day tour was nice but not worth 90. I'd say 50-75 might be about right. Make sure you bring a hat or pull your hair back because the bus is a safari jeep with no windows and therefore the wind is very strong and relentless. Your hair will be a mess. Also bring a roll of toilet paper if you can fit it in your bag. We had to go to the restroom in Higuey and they were handing out three squares of toilet paper at the door to use, no lie. So it might be best to have some on you in case you need more. The best thing about the excursion was the tour guides, the alcohol and people. A very diverse group of tourist was on our tour. The alcohol was a nice distraction from the fact that this tour really was just ok.

The half day tour was nice. It does not involve shopping like we thought it would. I repeat, no shopping on half day tour. There was plenty of water, soda and alcohol on board the bus. The tour was good for the price. A nice get off the resort tour.

This tour was amazing! Enjoyed learning about the culture of the natives. Lots to see. Tour made one appreciate our way of living. Americans are very blessed.

This tour was amazing. We learned a lot about Punta Cana and enjoyed interacting with the people.

overall a great trip. I was not impressed with the horseback ride. The horses were dirty and very skinny. Part of the trip also includes a walk through a farmers market which I could have done without. We didnt even stop to look at anything and there were kids following us begging for money. Make sure you bring enough cash to tip the tour guide and bar tender at the end. We only brought some cash and ended up tipping the horse guides and buying some things and didn't have enough money for a tip at the end. Overall it was a great way to see Dominican life and the guides were great.

Excellent tour, not recommended for pregnant women or for kids 2 years or younger.
Very informative about the culture, food, cigar, horseback riding, cocoa trees left and right. The rest you find for yourself,
Watch out its a little bumpy ride :
Have fun

The tour was great and the tour guide and bartender were fabulous. They were fun and informative. There was a photographer with us, from another company he said, taking pictures of the tour group. He was trying to sell a CD with the photos, including the history of the DR and Dominican music for 30 for the half day tour. I thought it was a bit pricey and didn't buy, but I felt bad. I don't think he made any money that day. We tipped the tour guide, telling him it for everyone, and we hope he really did share it.

Had an awesome time!! Would love to do this again. Saw and experience Punta Cuna's culture up close. The tour guides were very tentative to make sure we had a great time!!

We have chosen the full day tour and we loved it!
You get so much to see: the mountains, wonderful nature, the city Higuey with it's beautiful church, a stunning beach, a typical dominican house where you can buy local coffee, cacao, ...
Great tour if you'd like to see nature AND city!

Great experience. We recommend if you want to know something about the country outside resorts. Professional team, experienced guide - Herman has been speaking in 3 languages en, esp, dutch. Cigar factory with possibility to taste cigars plus coconut and sugar cane. Travel through countryside and through city of Higuey which gives you insight into lives of ordinary people. Cathedral in the city is also great. You will not visit local school in july-august because they have summer holiday. We missed also cocoa and coffee tasting and production - that was only in full day trip. But overall very good trip!

I have mixed feelings about this tour. I am glad I did it because it gave me a good sense of the culture of the Dominican people. However, we made several long stops where there were high pressure salespeople at each stop. We saw some beautiful country, although heavily littered with trash. We saw a city and how the people live and work. We went on a short horse back riding trail and watched a cigar making demonstration. We went through a sugar plantation and past a school house. We did not stop at the school house since it is not in session. One of the culturally shocking experiences I had during this trip is that children run along the bus throughout most of the tour asking for money. They pick flowers and give one to you and ask for dollars. When we made stops they would run up to us and ask us for money. We gave them gum, mints, and some money. The roads are mostly dirt roads except for the main highways. We stopped at at typical home and had a tour, which I enjoyed because it allowed me to appreciate the cultural differences. Overall I would recommend the tour, but be warned of the very high pressure salespeople and children running alongside of the bus asking for money.

A different activity to the beach and adventure. It is known daily life away from tourism and an interesting tour of the rural and agricultural world of the province. Recommended.
The safari had started well but the “famous” highlight of the day was a lunch and several hours on a farm with an owner who was praised by the ColonialTours organizing agency. An individual (the owner) greets us on his horse and throws us more than doubtful jokes like: “Hello pretty dolls”, “this name would fit for a goat (it was the name of one of my friends!)”....if we talk about lunch, there was really little to eat! The fruits that become the apotheosis of dessert were not ripe enough and coffee like homemade chocolate were undrinkable. A real tourist trap! I strongly advise against it!
Reservation accepted, 2 days before the activity no news for transport so I had to contact the organizer. To learn that our Hotel was too far away so impossible to pick us up. If I don't contact anyone, we're charged the money and no activity. Great lack of seriousness. To avoid absolutely!!!
Toller Ausflug mit sehr erfahrenem Führer, welche zudem sehr unterhaltsam und zugleich unaufdringlich war.
Unforgettable day and even the most beautiful of our stay! Thanks to lessandro and his team, and marco the photographer. A perfect team that shows you the real life of the Dominican Republic and all this in a Mood of madness with a funny and benevolent menu
