A quiet cruise around with spectacular views, now seen things I never thought I would see. We were on P&O Aurora, the Captain turned the ship 360 degrees to appreciate the views.

The Strait of Magellan Park is a protected area of almost 250 hectares. The main objective is the conservation and dissemination of the natural and historical heritage within it. The places of interest within the Park are: - Museum of the Strait (Interpretation Center): Sentinel of the landscape that in its 1,600 m2 houses cafeteria, shop, panoramic terrace and interpretive and multimedia sample. - MHN Fuerte Bulnes Site: Covering an area of 4 hectares is the historical re-construction of the first Chilean settlement in the territory. - Path of the Coast: Footpath of 1.5 kilometers of extension, of low to medium difficulty that crosses the forests and roqueríos around the Fort. - Forest of the Wind Trail: Pedestrian path of almost 300 meters in length, low difficulty leads to where you can see the passage of boats, birds and whales.
The Municipal Cemetery of Punta Arenas, officially Sara Braun Municipal Cemetery, 1 is a four-hectare cemetery located on Avenida Bulnes, in the northern sector of the city of the Magallanes Region, Chile. Its entrance is formed by a portico donated by the benefactress Sara Braun, that ends in a square that distributes the avenues of cypresses. It was declared a National Monument in Historic Monument Category by Decree 499 of November 26, 2012. Various international publications have cataloged it as one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world.
Viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of the bay and the landscapes that surround the city.
Muñoz Gamero Square
Located in the palace of the Braun Menéndez Family, inside you can visit collections of furniture and objects from the golden age of Magallanes, a historical exhibition and temporary exhibitions.
The tour starts after your pickup, and you will drive 60 km south of the city. The route runs along the Strait of Magellan to observe a variety of seabirds: seagulls, caiquenes, ibis, cormorants and others. The journey takes about an hour. Your first destination is the landmark that marks the geographic center of Chile, where you can take pictures, then continue to Fort Bulnes, only a kilometer from the sector. After an hour inside this fort, you will begin the return, but not before visiting another historical site, Mansa, which is located a kilometer and a half from Fort Bulnes. Here you visit the Rey Don Felipe City, founded in 1584 by Don Pedro Sarmiento and later renamed Puerto del Hambre. You can also take pictures and learn the history of this place. Now, return to the city of Punta Arenas. Visit Punta Arenas, the southernmost city in the American continent, is a walk through the history of Patagonia. The first stop is at ‘Cerro de la Cruz
Bahía Mansa, and the only natural shelter in the north coast of the Strait of Magellan, used since ancient times by the first inhabitants, nomad hunter-gatherers ancestors of the historic Kawéskar canoeists, who for centuries sailed through the south of the Brunswick peninsula and towards the Patagonian channels and fjords, the construction of a new Caleta de Pescadores is projected

It is very windy in Punta Arenas and Fort Bulnes. Wear layers because if the air is cold it can cut right through you. I highly recommend this tour. The reconstructed fort and interpretive exhibits offer a glimpse into what it took to settle this vast territory. The Strait museum is an impressive facility that showcases the ecology, exploration and settlement of this region. Our guide Nickolas was a font of knowledge and embellished our tour with interesting stories illustrating every aspect of the founding and development of Punta Arenas. We were treated to a special viewpoint, a walk through the town square and the Cemetery of Punta Arenas where historic figures were brought to life.
Stephanie was GREAT. I have chronic health problems. I felt respectfully taken care of. They helped me do more than I thought I would be able to do. She told us historical as well as fun facts about the city and the area to make the trip something. we will always. remember.
A very nice overview of the city and the area. Alex was great, he knew everything plus more about the local history and commerce, plus great insights concerning current events. He is one of the nicest people I've ever met!
We had a great day. Our guide was knowledgeable, casual and comfortable in his approach, and very proud of his city. It was an enjoyable day and beautiful country.
Fort Bulnes and forest there..beautiful walk, primeval forest, filled with birdsong But…just to imagine having to live there..so difficult Magellan Sculpture View over Punta Arenas, charming old quarter
The tour is very well organized and reliable. You visit the most interesting parts of Punta Arenas in a few hours. Our tour guide, Luis, was very knowledgeable and professional. We learnt about the history of the town in a very entertaining and delightful way. Lots of anecdotes! We highly recommend this tour.
Peter was a wonderful and very informative guide. The weather was rainy but he made it work. The end
Peter and Michael made our excursion most memorable. Enjoyed the various stops and sights. Lunch at a local spot was excellent—-thanks
AVOID THIS COMPANY - Not a tour company just a broker that books you with a real tour company. No physical mail address and conducted business via WhatsApp only (missed those red flags). I sent my desired itinerary to them with 12/29/23 selected for this tour, paid the fees through a third party app and they sent me a confirmation back. I did not notice that the company had changed the date of the tour to 12/30 without my approval until 12/28/23. No refund was given and Veronica was very rude in her communications. The other tour I took with them (Torres del Paine) we were the last family in the hotel lobby in the morning and I had to WhatsApp to see what was going on. A tour bus had to come back to the hotel (they had left about ten minutes prior) and explained that we were not on their roster and came back for us as a late add.
It was an amazing experience! We even got the chance to see whales!! Something that is very uncommon at Fuerte Bulnes. The service, kindness and dedication of Veronica and her team is incredible! 100% recommend Tour Punta Arenas and all the tour services that they provide! The tour guide was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! If you're looking to do tours in Punta Arenas and its surroundings I highly recommend this tour company. We did three tours with them and we have nothing but positive experiences with them and their service which included transport from and to the airport!
This trip is overpriced. We were a family of 4 and visitor charged us $800. There are lot agency who do the same tour with lot less. Will never book via visitor.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day with David. Our tour of Fort Bulnes and the Magellan Strait was better than expected. We enjoyed the lovely scenery, the relaxed pace and David's suggestions for seeing Punta Arenas. He was very receptive to our requests and took us to try choripan when we asked for some Chilean food. David clearly enjoyed showing us around, making our day thoroughly enjoyable.
Great guide. Even though on bus to get places, stops not far apart and walk options offered. Beautiful national park.
Unfortunately the day of our planned excursion our cruise ship could not stop at the port due to bad weather. We were immediately issued a refund for which we were very grateful. I'd highly recommend you book with these folks if the opportunity arrives, I know I will!
Really enjoyed the day and our visit to the fort with Nicolas and our excellent driver. Unfortunately due to my mobility problems, our city tour was cut short. We had already visited the city square on our own before meeting up with Nicolas. He did take us up to the Hill of the Cross and would have walked around there with us if my knee had cooperated. Only regret was not visiting the cemetery. We heard so much about it after we returned to the ship. Only other problem, some miscommunication about time for pickup but it all worked out ok.
Did the tour coming off a cruise ship. Overall the trip was okay. Price was much cheaper than the cruise line offered. Nicholas and David were very informative and spoke English well. The Fort and Museum were interesting. $10 USD admission/pp on arrival. We did not see the cemetery in the city as 8 out of 12 of passengers didn’t want to pay the $5 USD admission. The trip lasted under 5 hours. The negative to our tour was all three groups were told different times to show up. We were told 0830 and showed at 0815. Previous reviews stated groups were left behind so we didn’t want to have that happen so we were early. After checking in we were told to expect to leave at 0830. Didn’t Happen. Left at 0930. The other groups showed at 0915. One was told 1000. The other between 0830 and 1000. The tour operator should give passengers a correct and exact time to show up. Definitely not a “ range”. After experiencing a hour delay we left. At the museum we were told we had 20 minutes and be back on the bus at 1200-1205. We complied and got back on time, only to wait another 15 minutes for the group to arrive with the guide who said he had been looking for us. I said we followed his instructions and met at the bus on time. Again, poor communication regarding meeting times. The tour got us back well in advance of our departure time. If I did this trip again, I would hire a taxi ( many available at the port) who charge posted fixed rates ($40usd I think) for a Prius vehicle. Taxi may not have the full narration of a tour, but you can control your time and pay less. Research can be done online for the Fort and the museum signs are both English and Spanish. The city tour is mostly driving around to locale view points for photo ops.
Peter, the tour guide was great. There were 8 of us and we all thought the same. He is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. Highly recommend him.
For an hour we were waiting for somebody to meet us at the port, but no one showed up. During this time we were trying to call the local provider, but couldn't reach them. After multiple attempts to resolve our situation, we were directed to a bus without an english speaking tour guide. We didn't receive the service we paid for. We demand the reimbursement for service not provided.
We have booked and fully paid in advance for the private shore excursion 'Full day in Punta Arenas and visit the Strait of Magellan' scheduled for February 3, 2023. However upon arrival on February 3rd at Punta Arenas our cruise ship 'Norwegian Star' was not able to disembark due to the weather conditions. The tour operator totally manipulated the facts in order not to refund us for the tour that never happened - first they claimed that they did not know the ship name, then pretended they did not know that the ship was unable to disembark passengers, etc. Attached is one example from WhatsApp conversation with the company. So unprofessional and manipulative! Never use this company!
They never showed up at our port and no one answered their phone when we tried to reach them. They are now refusing to refund the $200 we paid.
Francisco was such a fantastic guide! He knows so much history and obviously loves his city. He also let us take time where we wanted, like getting a snack at the Museum. Our ship was a bit late and communicating with the tour operator was easy and they moved the start time for us. The Fort and Museum were both fabulous as were the views. We saw dolphins while driving. We cut the city tour a bit short because we had pouring rain by that part, but that was our decision. Punta Arenas and the area around it is beautiful and we highly recommend this tour!
Be careful before booking this tour… it is sold as a full day tour but it is only a half a day tour… our boat was about an hour late in the dock so we ended up starting our tour at 9:30am… the tour ended at 2pm… I guess we saw the most important highlights at Punta Arenas but we didn’t see all sites listed in the tour.
A great personal tour, highly recommend this company. We had done a cruise ship tour the day before with bus loads of people. This tour was just the two of us and Stefan and driver. Both were professional. Stefan’s English —he’s originally from Switzerland—was good. We went to the fort/museum, had a brief lunch, then back to the city. On the way back, we expressed an interest in stopping to photograph fishing boats and corrugated iron houses—a feature of this coast. They stopped several times. I can guarantee the buses could not do this. This trip was a lot less than the cruise ship’s. Win win
Greatly appreciated the tour operator's efforts to ensure we had an English speaking guide and a private tour when the public one was not available. Francisco's commentary made the fort, the city square, the sheepherder's statue and the waterfront come alive with Punta Arenas history. Many thanks for an enjoyable half day tour.
Our tour guide was excellent at explaining the history or the area and features important to know about the city and the areas we visited. He was Knowledgeable and attentive. It was a first class experience.
Timely pickup from cruise terminal. Great SUV car, new and clean, with driver and guide - Nicholas. Guide fluent in English and knowledgeable of history, flora, fauna. We arranged the program to fit our needs. Visited Fort Bulnes, museum at Fort Bulnes, Nao Victoria Museum, the city of Punta Arenas. Very pleasant day.
Unfortunately, it was cold and raining. It was a long trip to the fort without much in the way of scenery. It was a restored for not the original without much description. The view of the Magellan strait is very nice at the location. we then went to the cemetery, which was interesting, and drove around the city before returning to the port.
Booked this trip independently of our ship Coral Princess with my wife and 4 friends, we visited Punta Arenas on February 29th 2020. The ship was slightly late in docking due to a late departure from Ushuaia the previous day as a result we later leaving the ship to meet our tour. We were met at the quayside by our tour guide and driver, we were just the six in a mini bus for the duration of the trip. Edmundo, our tour guide, explained that we would be travelling along the coast road to the national park, small museum and Fort Beule. The fee for the entrance to the park was not included in the cost of the tour. This turned out to be about $96 for the six of us. The ticket office accepts cards and a variety of currencies including US dollars. The journey to our first stop took around 30 to 45 minutes, we spotted dolphins and Eduardo told us there was a good chance to see whales as they were in the area at this time of the year. The journey was interesting looking at the variety in house styles, most built on stilts in small communities, along the road. Our first stop was at a cross roads prior to the national park, this was a way marker with distances to Buenos Aires and Antartica highlighted. Leaving the park ticket office we had a 10 to 15 minute ride to the museum and viewing spot. We parked at the entrance to the Fort area to take photographs on the way to the museum. Here Eduardo gave us a brief insight into the history of the area. The museum was small and , unfortunately, badly lit which made it almost impossible to read the information about Magellan and the exploration and settlement of the area. The lighting may have been for atmosphere or to protect exhibits but it rather spoiled our full enjoyment of the visit. There was an exhibit of the scientific developments in navigation which lead to European exploration. We had 30 minutes within the museum site and viewing area. We then moved on to the Fort itself along a short hilly dirt road. The Fort is a reproduction built on the site of the original settlement before the settlers moved to Punta Arenas as it could be better defended against the indigenous peoples, and was better for farming. The Fort was an interesting place with buildings made from timber and turf. Within one of the larger building was an interesting display about the settlement of Punta Arenas. The views across the channel were well worth the visit, we had around 30 to 40 minutes to explore the fort and take photographs of the views. There was a small incline on grass and unpaved pathways around the fort which may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Leaving the fort we retraced our journey back to the city of Punta Arenas, this took around 40 minutes. Our first stop in the city was the main square, surrounding the square are some of the important buildings of the town. Eduardo was excellent at pointing these out to us and took us across the square to see the former home of Sarah Braun an important early member of Punta Arenas society. Leaving the central square were taken to the town cemetery which is now a world heritage site. Within the cemetery we were shown the important Mausoleums of Punta Arenas important citizens. Being English we found this visit very strange but nonetheless interesting to learn about the culture of this area. Our final stop was five minutes from the cemetery by mini bus, we were taken to a viewing area high above the dock and main city area. This was a good viewing point giving a panorama of the city with it's many coloured houses. We were returned to the dock area in plenty of time to walk back to the ship before departure. All in all an interesting day with Eduardo ready to answer our questions. Final comment, there is no lunch with this trip, there was a small cafe in the museum but we did not really have time to have a coffee or snack.
Checked the tour reviews and specifics before booking it. Since it was not refundable, I kept constant contact with the operator thru WhatsApp to coordinate the service. They served us very well. We were picked up from and dropped off us on time for the cruise. We were the only ones, so it became a private tour. The park is worth going and great for photography. The operator should review and remove the non-refundable policy from this offering. This policy scares customers away.
We were greeted at the cruise port by our guide (Marlon) at the meeting point and at the designated time. Marlon was very friendly and informative on many aspects of the area and Chili and answered all of our questions. Being a private tour with a driver, Marlon was able to fully focus on us and the tour. We were able to visit many different sites and explore at our own pace. There were many opportunities for some incredible photos and Marlon would not hesitate to stop our car for any photos we wanted to take. Marlon gave us a full day visiting several interesting Punta Arenas sites besides the main purpose of the trip, the fort. A special thanks to Marlon for a fun day!
This booking caused me stress from the moment I signed up a month before my trip. Firstly, I found out that booking was final only after I paid. Secondly, after paying $320 for me and my friend to tour on Jan 1, we got an email that they needed an extra $100 per person because it was New Year's Day. Thirdly, our pick up information was for 2 AM, and it was so difficult to get any good information from the phone number given in the email. I had to contact Viator on Dec 30 to tell them that we could not contact the company at all, so they had to intervene and call the company on our behalf. We finally got word on Dec 31 that we would get picked up at 9 am. I called them at 8:30 am on Jan 1 to make sure they had our address, and I was told that they were "about to call [me]" - their car broke down and they wouldn't be able to pick us up until 2 pm (for a "full-day" tour?!). The lady on the other end of the line could not speak English at all (the tour advertised that we would have an English-speaking guide), and while my Spanish is okay, she spoke too fast for me. Our hostel's hostess got on the phone for me to talk to her, and after a couple of minutes trying to communicate with the operator/customer service, my hostess warned me that the lady didn't seem to know what she was talking about. I had to call Viator again to tell them everything that was going on, which convinced Viator to finally request a refund on our behalf. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.
We ordered this private tour as a shore excursion. Its hard to say anything positive about our experience. The tour operator totally messed up the scheduling, causing us to miss out on things. The guide was hoodwinked into doing her first guide job without the guide/trainer. She was great, but no way could show us everything we should have seen. Our communication with the company manager Veronica was frustrating. Plus, just a day before the tour, she notified us that they can't provide us the private tour due to the company's problem with cars. So, at that point we didn't have any other choice than to take a shared tour with a couple people, who also were very unhappy with all this mess. Don't recommend this company to anyone. By the way, all other shore tours that we had in Chile and Argentina during our cruise, we considered very good or excellent.
My husband and I took this tour with another couple from our cruise ship. We were not happy with the experience. The guide’s English was not good and he spoke so quietly he was quite difficult to hear. I think that he knew the material, but he was not good at expressing it and seemed to speak by rote. At the museum at the fort, we saw other guides going through the exhibits with their clients and giving them additional insights. Not our guide! He dropped us off and told us to take 15-20 minutes. We often hire private guides at cruise shop ports and usually have wonderful experiences. Not this time! If you are reading this, my suggestion to you is to find another tour company.
Communication regarding pick-up location and time was terrible. Tour guide was nice but new and had to keep checking notes on the information for the places we visited. Did not visit Mansa, Puerto del Hambre or Antoine de Saint Exupery square like the description indicated. When we visited Fort Bulnes, we had to pay to get into the fort. No where was this indicated to us until we pulled up to the park entrance. For $160 per person, one would think that was included. The fort was interesting but due to time restrictions we were rushed through it. Very poor value and would not recommend.
The tour team (guide and driver) did an excellent job in sharing the highlights of Punta Arenas. They were very friendly, informative and supportive in answering our many question. The pace was very comfortable.
Very informative and interesting 5+hr tour of the coast of the Magellanic Strait and Punta Arenas landmarks exactly as described. We were really glad we booked this trip. I particularly enjoyed the visits to Parque Del Estrecho De Magallanes and the Cementerio. Louís was the driver of the mini-van and Marlon the designated English speaker/narrator and they both did a wonderful job. The van came right to our hotel and it was just the two of us so we received a customized tour. We were picked up before 1030 and finished at 1530. This tour would be suitable for children. Bring snacks and possibly some water because there is no designated lunch stop.
We had a fabulous day out in amazing weather. Our hotel pick up went smoothly and our guide was informative, warm, helpful and friendly. The sky was a brilliant clear blue for the whole trip which meant we saw everything at its best. The drive along the Strait of Magellan was amazing, especially for the views and bird life. The Museum of the Strait at the entrance to the Park is small but highly recommended; the exhibits are labelled in English and Spanish. The weather made the tour around the reconstruction of Fort Bulnes and walk through the Magellenic woodland to the viewpoint over the Strait and amount Tarn a joy. Make sure you have gloves, hats and a warm jacket though as the wind is biting.Back in Punta Arena we particularly enjoyed the view over the city, the tour of the cemetery and the visit to the Shepherd Monument. In our opinion, a ‘must do’ tour for anyone visiting Punta Arenas!

It was a very enjoyable day. Johnny was our guide. Be aware that the fee for the fort is NOT include and is 28 for each person. You can pay with a credit card. there is a tour guide both i the information center and at the fort who is fluent in English. Pick up was easy. This was a private tour with the driver and Johnny.

We were so glad to took this tour! Our cruise ship offered various specific tours we saw everything in a private vehicle. Our guide, Gabriel was great! He knew when/where to visit the sites, so we never experienced a crowd. We saw Fort Baines, Museu de Sitio, and toured the center of the city. Highly recommended!

Heading towards Fuerte Bulnes, on the Magellan Strait is an absolute must while in Punta Arenas. Nature wise this place is stunning. Also, the museum in a must. Our tour guide was very kind and even took some extra time to walk with us in the town of Punta Arenas. Highly recommend.

We booked this through our cruise and it was a nice tour. Lots of history about the area and especially about Magellan and his crew.
Beautiful and very interesting! The museum rooms, the Fort Bulnes with its beautiful views, the rich trail, and the kindness of our guide.
We took the Service together with a friendly German couple, to whom we had promised to show Punta Arenas, without knowing it either, and in short I can indicate the following: 1. Coordination from the beginning with Ms. Veronica was very agile, quick responses and searches for alternatives, whenever she needed it. He gave me clear information and advised me on the most appropriate choice, as we did not know the area. I make things easier for us, placing us in a guide who speaks English. 2. The shuttle Service with Don Luis, was excellent, punctual, very friendly and friendly. He also knows the area very well and explained any details we wanted to know. 3. Special rating for our guide, Nicolas, a very friendly young man who handles a lot of information about the area. He was clear and took us around like a nephew, and helped us a lot with German friends, given his English proficiency. Conclusion, in our experience the Service is highly recommended, Ms. Veronica and her team, are serious people, friendly and fully fulfilling their commitments.
The full day tour in Punta Arenas and Magalhães Strait was wonderful, stunning landscapes. The guide Felipe was extremely attentive and kind. He knew a lot about the place and gave us a true lesson of history and geography. We would like to thank Felipe and the chauffeur Mr. Luiz for the precious tips of restaurants and shopping venues. I recommend this tour!!!
We went with my Husband to Punta Arenas de Luna de Honey and hired 2 tours, full day Torres del Paine (group) and full day Punta Arenas and Strait of Magellan (private) We had a great time, Gabriel and Juan who were in the first, had very good group management and tourist information, it was exhausting and for me the stop times were good in each viewpoint and stopping point... for my husband it was little time but because he enjoys that frigid climate; and we won pot draw a plush milodon!! On the other tour Luis with his wife were very friendly and had a lot of flexibility to visit some points of interest to us, instead of others we had already seen
When you travel for the first time to an area that is demanding like Chilean or Argentine Patagonia, the most valuable thing is to have a tour operator that delimits the space and cultural patterns that you must take care of so that the experience reduces risks and is as pleasant as possible. I visited Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, Torres del Paine and El Calafate with Punta Arenas tours and from the beginning they gave me detailed information about each route, the schedule in which each tour should arrive without exaggerating the arrival time that can take its toll on you because of the cold of the area; the contacts in each tour and accommodation, the type of costumes, the types of currency allowed and a long etc... And, as an attaché, they were always vigilant in responding to our inquiries accurately and efficiently. Thank you, Veronica and Luis for your professionalism!
It was a very complete visit that is worth it when you have little time. Guide Peter great professional who made the visit entertaining and interesting
Excellent tour by Luis Delgado. Highly recommended. Super well explained and complete visiting most of the tourist recommendations of Punta Arenas. Luis has vast knowledge of the area.
In love with this land without being Patagonian, it is too beautiful, everyone should know this region
